Chapter twelve:

Shaylee awkwardly untangled herself, looking into her father's lit up eyes. Titanus with one hand on her lower arm, turned her towards her line of siblings. With one quick glance at the line, she counted eleven people exactly. "These are your brother's and sister's." He introduced with a light tone, gesturing with his other hand. Titanus pointed to the person standing closest to the entrance, it was a girl, she smiled thinly doing a small curtsey to which Shaylee awkwardly returned.

The girl was tan with green eyes like almonds, her hair was a champagne blonde and was swept over one shoulder in a loose braid. The dress she was wearing was off the shoulder, and a deep green colour, it fell to the floor elegantly swaying around her. "This is your eldest sister Emielle. Her ability is, she can hear everything and anything." Her sister gave her a soft smile, a light blush evident on her cheeks. "Yes." Her voice was barely a whisper, "I can literally hear a pin drop." Emielle smiled weakly.

Titanus pointed hand to the next in line, his stature was tall, lanky even. He wore bright pink dress robes, with a bright orange bow. His hair was a light caramel brunette, with pale blue eyes. Her brother grinned widely, waving frantically. "This is your eldest brother, Joshuane. His ability is to be able to replicate himself." Joshuane grin expanded, he stepped forward and in an instant there were three, then six of him. All of his clones are exact replicas of him. They all waved slowly at her, and in a slightly creepy way. "Nice to meet you." The six Joshuane's echoed. She let out a soft chuckle, "You too..."

Her father's hand moved to her next sibling, "Your second eldest brother, Colin." Colin's features looked much like her fathers, his eyes were grey and sunken looking clouded with a haunted feeling she couldn't quite place. His hair was straight and jet black, the colour which her father would've had before greying. "His ability is to manipulate emotions." Colin gave her an icy look, his silver suit matching with the colour of his eyes. He didn't really seem too enthusiastic about her appearance, so nobody pushed him to do anything.

The next in the line was a set of twins, both having the same jet black hair as Colin and the same grey eyes except a darker shade. The first twin gave her an odd look, whereas the second gave her a small smile. "Daemon and Dayle, the third and fourth eldest. Daemon can fast forward time, Dayle however can rewind it." The twins put two of their fingers against each other, and began to wind the other hand around in a circle. Light sparkles flowed around their hands, and streamed up their arms. Their pale blue robes flowed gently as if a small gust of breeze. If they did a demonstration she didn't know, however she did feel as though her body was twitching. Like she'd turned slightly from the left, and towards the right. That feeling happened multiple times, until their hands dropped and it stopped.

Shaylee blinked rapidly, her hand rubbing her shoulder softly. The next in line was the hazel eyed boy, he eyed her in a sort of pleading way. "This is your elder Nicklaus, his ability is-""Just Klaus." Klaus interrupted, in a sharp voice. Titanus resisted the urge to roll his eyes, "Klaus. He can manipulate light, any light, any form." If Titanus was expecting a demonstration he didn't get it, Klaus just began to rock back and forth on his heels. Suddenly as her father turned her to face her next sister, the lightbulb in the chandelier grew brighter than burst. Titanus' eyes narrowed accusingly, but her brother pretended to be innocent by adjusting his black dress robes.

Her father sighed, turning her towards the girl. She wore a floor length, capri-cyan dress. Her hair was longer than Emielle's, and brunette, her skin was tan like the rest of the siblings yet she had pale green eyes. She did a soft curtsey, pulling her dress out softly on either side. "This is your younger sister Kallistia. She is fluent in every language. "Salut soeur!" Kallistia chirped. Shaylee's smile faltered slightly, her brows furrowing together. "Hi sister." Ryder translated from behind her, making her nod her head feebly and wave.

Before Titanus could introduce her next sister, the girl fled from the line-up and wrapped her arms around her older sister tight. "I'm Charlise! No need for a formal introduction, Father." She chuckled, pulling away from Shaylee. Her brown eyes blended nicely with her tan skin, and her golden-blonde hair was a shade unlike any of her other siblings. She wore a pale peach dress, which was cut right off her ankles. "And my ability is possessing any element, I know it's a weird ability. But at least I can wash my hair, without showering right?" Charlise laughed again, and shuffled back beside Kallistia who gave her an odd look.

The girl beside Charlise looked uneasy. She began to rock back and forth on her heels, her eyes glued to no particular spot of the room. "That's Minnie, her ability is cross dimensional awareness." Her face contorted in confusion, as she watched the small brunette girl shift around anxiously in her baby pink dress. "It means she can sense things from other dimensions.""Other dimensions exist?" She mutters under her breath, making Emielle snort from up the line.

The next was a boy, his hair was a pale blonde like Provence's with the same pale green eyes as her too. "This is Tristian. He can camouflage." Tristan blushed at the mention of his name, and gave a shy wave.

The girl beside him looked the same except her features were smaller, she looked to be around eight to ten and she looked very overwhelmed, with a tad of dejectedness in her expression. Her hair was more curly though, and not straight like her Tristian's or Provence's; it was more curly-frizzy. "And finally, Nevaeh. Her ability is to sense death, and combat clairvoyance. She is very gifted, having the possession of two very unique, and special abilities." Her father gloated in pride, making Nevaeh look up at him with a weak expression. "Hi." She muttered simply, her pale eyes training on Shaylee's hazel.

A lump formed in Shaylee's throat as Nevaeh seemingly subconsciously stared her down. After a moment the girl's eyes flickered away, and down at her feet. Like she'd seen something, but wasn't going to share it. Tristan turned to her, muttering in a whisper. But the small girl ignored him, eyes fixated intently on her feet.Titanus turned Shaylee to face Provence, who'd taken a step forward in a formal matter. "Your stepmother, Provence." Provence gave a thin smile, the smile not quite reaching her eyes. Shaylee felt a force wrap around her, and suddenly she was in a bowing position. Her body moved to the ground sharply, as if being pulled by a magnet. "How polite." Provence said in a monotone voice, her body pulled up sharply at her words; it was as if she had no control over her body anymore.

"I'm sure we will hit it off." Her stepmother turned to her father with a bright smile, she moved towards Shaylee in one swift motion engulfing her in a hug. "I'm sure we'll be very good friends, Miss Davey." She hissed almost inaudibly into Shaylee's ear. They pulled away and a loud laugh rang out of Provence's mouth, "We're so glad to have you home! Please, make yourself at home! Mi casa es su casa!" She gave a tight lipped grin, "Thank you, for letting me stay in your humble abode." Joshuane and Charlise resisted the urge to laugh. Provence's grin faltered dangerously, but nevertheless she bowed and turned on her heel elegantly walking back into the room she came from. "Uhm- this is Ryder by the way..." Shaylee remembered, turning back to the warlock. Everyone gave him a polite smile, "He's my uh- my uhm..." But Ryder took a step forward, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. "Friend." He interjected shortly. Titanus gave a beaming smile, "Well I'm glad you brought company Shaylee. Any friend of yours, is a friend of ours." Except any halfbloods...

Titanus outstretched his hand to Ryder, who took it with formality. "Glad to meet you, your highness." Ryder gave a firm shake, making her father laugh. "Tight grip boy." He paused, "Please call me Titanus." Shaylee stood back awkwardly, this whole encounter was honestly awkward for her. The boys pulled away, giving each other firm nods as if they'd come to a silent agreement. Her father cleared his throat, eyes scanning the line. "Emielle, please escort Shaylee to her room." His eyes found Colin's, "And please, escort Mr-""Just call me Ryder." Titanus gave Ryder a knowing look, "Mr Ryder to his room." Colin gave a long sigh, and gestured quickly for Ryder to follow him. "I'll find you later." Ryder hummed in her ear, before sauntering after one of her many brother's. "Dismissed." Titanus clapped twice, and all her siblings parted going back to what they were doing. A few of them threw a look at her over their shoulders, and gave a soft smile. Daemon and Dayle walked together up a flight of stairs, Daemon had his fingers moving forward in a circular motion with his twin clutching his arm. Sparkles surrounded them lightly, and in a moment they were gone.

Colin led Ryder across the room, and they turned left into what looked to be a dining room of some sort, then they faded from sight. Emielle approached her, a soft smile on her lips. "Hi, I hope our meeting isn't too weird under the circumstances."

"Oh no, it's not!" Shaylee dismisses, hoping that she hadn't upset her sister. Emielle chuckled, showing off her perfect teeth. "I hope we can become closer." She paused, "Come on! Let's show you to your room." They were walking in the west wing, paintings of past kings and queens hung from the walls along the hallway. Most of them wore stern expressions, and after seeing a few portraits she realised that Titanus and Provence would wear the same crowns her Fae ancestors once did. The crown Provence wore was small, gold, with silver jewels and it had been passed down generations of queens.

From her peripheral vision she saw Emielle slow to a halt in front of a particular painting, she slowed beside her and turned to look at it. The queen was tall, dressed in a crimson coloured dress, with long flowing curly caramel brown hair, her eyes were an almond shape with one eye a pale blue the other being a pale green. Her heterochromia eyes weren't the most beautiful thing about her, her plump red lips or rosy cheeks were also nowhere near in comparison to her kind, genuine smile. The woman was beautiful. "That's our mother." Her sister sighed, one of her fingers trailing the outside of the golden frame. "Queen Aleaigha Cytheris." Emielle smiled up at the painting of her mother, "Provence was her best friend, did you know? Before she married dad..."Her eyes flickered towards Emielle's soft expression, "No I didn't know." Shaylee's voice trailed off, as a soft breath escaped her sister's lips.

"Well they were. Jumped on our dad as soon as my mum-" She exhaled deeply, hand falling from the frame. Emielle turned to face Shaylee, her face looking numb. "A few years later they were married and Tristian and Nevaeh were born." It all clicked now for Shaylee, but at the same time it just left more questions. Emielle turned and gestured behind them, to a dark wood door with a golden circle handle. "Your room." Shaylee's eyes glanced in the direction of the room, and then back to her sister. "Thank you Emielle."Her smile grew, "Anytime. Also, whisper if you need anything." She joked, moving past her and walking back the way they came.

"Be careful, these walls hide secrets." She called in a casual tone, walking down the first few steps. Shaylee stood there baffled, and eyes wide. Who could she truly trust?

Shaylee ringed out her hair, leaving small speckles of water on the floorboards. The room she was in was absolutely elegant, the walls were a pale pink and the floorboards were a tan brown. Her bed was four-postured with white beams and pink drapes hanging from the poles. The bedsheets were also pink, and white. Honestly it was an overload of pink, but it was quite nice actually. A small door was beside her bed that led into her bathroom, which was a white and gold colour scheme. She also had a walk-in-robe which Shaylee had yet to explore.

She picked up her flip phone that laid on her bed, and looked at the white screen. A message from Calvin flashed across the screen, but before she could answer it a double knock on her door sounded, making her startle and drop her phone. A note slid under her door, making her brows furrow. Shaylee edged over towards the door, the feeling of water droplets falling down her back being the only thing keeping her calm. She clutched the cream towel with one hand, and bent down using the other to scoop up the note. Shaylee unfolded the note, curiosity filling her up. 'Don't trust anyone.' The note read in neat cursive writing, making her gasp and look around the room anxiously as if she were being watched.
