THIRTY-THREE
33 | LOVE GAME? MORE LIKE LOVE SPELL.
DIRTY Diana ended, but Winter was still chest-to-chest with Harry. Her heart was pulsing frantically, seeming to beat right out of her chest. Sweaty teens danced around them, and yet the two could not seem to pull their eyes away from each other.
Winter was locked onto the blues of Harry's irises, and she could not find it in herself to fight the tug. They had not even realized they stopped dancing and were instead leaning into each other.
Harry's hands moved away from her waist, and Winter felt his hand grip at her own glove-covered one. They were just barely holding fingertips, swaying gently to the loud upbeat music. Winter could smell the fruity tang to Harry's breath leading her to believe he had some sort of fruity drink earlier.
Harry himself could feel the coolness wafting from Winter's skin, the pirate leaning down until their noses were just brushing. Winter swallowed, her thoughts a jumbled mess and her heart taking the lead.
So close.
Two more centimeters and Winter would have her first kiss. Two more centimeters and Harry Hook would steal Winterfell Frost's first kiss. Two more centimeters and they would find out that there was such as true love's kiss.
....
Two more centimeters and Jonah would lose a hundred bucks, he would lose the bet!
And like that, two more centimeters became five inches as Jonah literally dragged Harry away from Winter.
"Sorry, but I am not losing this bet!"
Harry growled as both he and Winter snapped out of it, realizing what happened.
"Ya complete arse!" Harry barked at the guy dressed as Elvis Presley, understanding that had he not interfered, he would be smooching Winter right now.
Beware and never release. Conceal don't feel. Don't let him in.
Winter's eyes were wide, her heart beating frantically as she apprehended what could have happened. Jonah had saved her from losing herself.
Winter liked to think her heart was frozen. Just because someone had a frozen heart did not mean they were cruel or evil (her parents were rather nice anyway) but it was still a frozen heart. There was no way Harry, who had a warm heart, should deal with the likes of Winter's frozen nature.
Her parents were perfect for each other because they both had frozen hearts, they complimented each other. Winter did not compliment Harry, she was dangerous for him.
He may have been a tough Isle pirate but at the end of the day, he had no magic. He would never be entirely safe around someone like Winterfell.
That was too close, she could not allow it to happen again.
Harry, who was still yelling in an enraged manner at Jonah, noticed Winter taking a step away out of the corner of his eye. He turned his head toward her, recognizing the flee instinct in her gaze.
Damn it, he was so close.
Winter met eyes with Harry once more, and she shook her head in an almost fearful manner.
"Ducklin'—" Harry was unable to continue for Winter had already spun around and started to flee.
Evie, Mal, Uma, and Ben who had seen everything scowled at Jonah who was also taking this time to make his grand escape. Evie managed to catch Winter's arm before she left, the blue-haired girl hoping to talk some sense into Winter.
"Winter, you're fine, let's just keep dancing—" Evie tried only for Winter to quickly shake her arm out of her grasp.
"I'll be right back, Evie, I just need to use the restroom," Winter flashed an obviously fake smile to her before finally disappearing in the mob of people.
Harry got there a second too late, the pirate growling and preparing to go after her. However, Uma stopped him, shaking her head.
"Just give her a second, Har," the sea witch muttered, "she said she'll be right back!"
Despite Harry's want to go after her, he slumped his shoulders and nodded. It was at that moment that a Frankenstein-looking Jane wandered toward them.
"Hey, have you guys seen Carlos? He disappeared a few minutes ago and I haven't seen him since!" Jane yelled over the music, the group looking to each other before shaking their heads.
Now that she had mentioned it, they had not seen Carlos for quite a few minutes which was odd. He rarely left either theirs of Jane's side in big school events like this.
It was then that Mal also noticed she had not seen Jay since they arrived at the dance. Where were they?
——————
After using the restroom and washing her hands, Winter paced along the tiled floors twiddling her fingers nervously. What was she doing?
How had she allowed this to happen? She almost kissed Harry Hook!
Winter had never been more grateful for Jonah in her life, because she knew that if it were not for him, Winterfell would have been touching lips with Harry. Not only that, but she would have liked it.
Her heart was frozen, Harry did not deserve someone like her. He had already been exposed to enough struggle back on the Isle, the last thing he needed was her with her dangerous abilities. Winter could not live with herself if something happened to Harry because of her.
Her Auntie Anna had almost died due to her mother's powers many years ago, and while Elsa tried to hide it, Winter knew that she had never truly forgiven herself. Winter refused to allow something like that to happen to Harry because Winter was not her mother. If something tragic happened to the ones she loved, she could not fix it as her mother had.
It was then that Winter decided Halloween was, in fact, as bad as she always thought. She was done with this party, it would be better if she just went back to her room for the rest of the night. Even if Harry or Evie or Mal or any of her other friends threw a fit—Winter needed time to clear her head and pull herself together.
If she went back out to the party, she was scared that despite her thoughts, she would have no self-control and end up actually kissing Harry.
Nope, not a chance.
Winter was going to go back to her dorm and stay there for the rest of the night. She would stay there was the entirety of the long weekend if she had to! But then she would only have people pestering her to come out.
While Uma may have not been willing to intrude on Winter's privacy tonight, Winter knew that if she holed herself in her room for the whole weekend then Uma nor Mal would have any issues magically busting in.
That got Winter to thinking. It was a long weekend, after all, perhaps she should plan a small trip back home?
She would like to talk to Sitara about all of this, her cousin (while incredibly wild) was normally the best one to go to for advice. However, at the same time, Sitara had no clue how Winter acted while at school. She nor the rest of her family had any clue that Winter dyed her hair or refrained from using her powers. They did not even know she went by a nickname!
Not to mention the trip itself was something that took all-day. If she went she would be traveling all tomorrow, spend the day there Saturday, and need to leave bright and early Sunday. Then again, she could always travel by wind.
And Winter knew that if she did they would all throw a fit at her looks and probably pull her straight out of school. Jack Frost was already pushing for her to go to Dynasty Academy anyway, he had been since she started her schooling. The only reason she ended up at Auradon Prep was that was where Soren and Sitara had gone.
Seeing as it was Winter's last year in school, Jack had not pushed quite as hard this time around, but she knew it would not take much for him to start his rant on why Dynasty Academy was a better option.
It was no secret that the Headmaster of Dynasty, the Genie, was much more flamboyant and lenient than the Fairy Godmother. While Fairy Godmother was more of an advocate for the students learning to live life without the use of magic, the Genie was the opposite.
He quite liked magic and made sure that it was heavily incorporated in the studies of Dynasty Academy. Therefore, while there was a Safety Rules for the Internet class at Auradon Prep there was instead a Magick Moses Arts class at Dynasty.
Along with that, students who actually had magic at Dynasty were forced to take other magic classes to help learn and control it. In other words, if the same rules of Dynasty Academy were at Auradon prep then students like Winter, Mal, Uma, and even Jane (who did have magic, she just did not know how to use it) would be subjected to magic classes where they would learn.
In actuality, it was a good activity for students to learn how to control their own abilities, but Fairy Godmother was adamant about retaining a mostly magic-free school.
Winter was struck out of her thoughts by her own reflection. She frowned her focus now on the mirror of the bathroom. She looked the same as she did when she left, just a bit more flustered. She pursed her lips, fixing a few flyaways that she had coming from her braids.
Thankfully, her hair was still brunette meaning that she still had a few more days until she had to dye it. She planned to do it Sunday like she did most weeks.
Winter jumped when the reflection of herself blinked, except she herself did not.
That could not have been possible, how could her own reflection blink when she did not? Immediately, Winter lifted her arm, watching as the reflection followed. She blinked as did the reflection. She puckered her lips and the reflection did as well. It was all normal.
She was literally going insane. The night was getting to her, but she still could not shake off the eery feeling she felt staring at her very own reflection. It was almost as though it was not her staring back, but something else.
Something that looked exactly like her but was not. It was creepy, to say the least.
Shuddering, Winter looked away from her elf reflection, walking toward the door. Yes, Halloween was indeed getting to her.
And yet, if she were to have turned around at that second, she would notice that her own reflection in the mirror was not following her in walking. Instead, it stayed put, standing exactly where she had been, its head tilted as it watched her walk away.
Seeing as Winterfell was not standing in front of that spot nor doing any of those motions with her body, it should have been impossible.
Unfortunately for Winter, she did not turn around and therefore did not notice how her reflection was performing the impossible. She also did not notice the evil shimmer coming off the reflection of herself in waves.
But if she had noticed, maybe the events that would begin to unfold in a few weeks' time would have gone quite a bit differently.
Opening the bathroom door with a shake of her head, she walked into the lonely hallway of the school gymnasium. Everyone was in the large courtroom where the dance was taking place, leaving Winter on her own in the hallway.
Or so she thought.
Just as she turned in the opposite direction of the party, ready to head back to the dorm, a familiar voice sounded from behind her.
"Carlos! Look out!" It was Jay's frantic tone.
"What?"
Winter turned around with confusion painted across her features. However, her eyes widened a second later when she was met with the sight of a Frankenstein-looking Carlos de Vil holding a huge metal pot that was much too big for him to be holding by himself. Yet, Carlos was holding it by himself and because of that, it was obstructing his vision from what was right in front of him.
Jay was beside him with his long hair slicked back and a black leather jacket on. His choice of costume was a biker. Winter opened her mouth to ask exactly what the two boys were doing, but at that moment Carlos had tripped and suddenly the pot went flying from his hands.
Jay tried to catch it, but he was far too slow for the lid opened and out spilled a boiling pink liquid. Winter screeched when the entirety of the pink hot liquid drenched her, the heat of it causing her to cry out in pain.
She was only lucky her natural coolness caused the boiling temperatures to cool enough that it only left redness to her skin instead of third-degree burns.
"Oh shit!" Jay shouted as Winter was suddenly dripping with pink.
In the midst of it all, some of the liquid had entered her mouth and nose causing her to cough at the cherry-like cough medicine taste of it. The coughs transformed into hacks as Winter bent over, desperately clawing at her throat and gagging.
The taste was only getting stronger and worse.
What was this? Did they freaking poison her?!
Winter was unable to ask for she continued to hack, her mind reeling. Against her will, thoughts of Harry Hook came to mind, her scar of his name burning wildly. Her heart was pounding and it felt like everything was spinning.
"Dude, what do we do!" Carlos panicked as Jay jumped into action, moving to Winter's side.
He placed a gentle hand on her back, grabbing her arm and tugging her to face him. Jay was praying that Winter was fine. But then, he also did not know the side effect of being drenched with seven liters of a love spell.
It was supposed to be a Halloween prank, one that would wear-off by Sunday morning. Jay had been planning on putting the large pot on the snack table as a beverage. The plan was that whoever happened to drink it (it would not be more than a cup) would "fall-in-love" with the first person they set their eyes on after drinking it.
It would be hilarious and would make for a rather interesting weekend. Jay had been hoping he could get Uma and Mal to drink some of the potion and fall for each other so he could video it.
He had managed to force Carlos to help him and for some reason trusted the son of Cruella to carry the pot on his own. That had been a mistake seeing as the prank was ruined and the entire love potion was splattered on Winter Frost.
This was bad.
One was only supposed to drink a cup-full of the potion, Winter had just been exposed to fifty-times that amount.
Jay really was not sure what to do, but he suspected this could have a result like someone overdosing. Except, in this case, Winter had overdosed on love.
"Winter, are you okay? How do you feel?" Jay asked, patting her back as she coughed.
What Winter wanted to do was yell at him.
How did he think she felt?
She had just had seven-liters of boiling hot liquid poured onto her, a liquid that she still was not sure what it was! Jay was only lucky that Winter was naturally cold enough it did not burn right through her skin.
However, all Winter was able to get out through her hacking was, "what is that stuff?"
Carlos was panicking from the side, hopping around like lunatic, cursing at Jay. He was only confirming Jay's thoughts on how it was way too much love potion for anyone to be exposed to.
"...And how is she not burned? That stuff was she just brewed and it was boiling!" But that was not that biggest concern, the biggest concern was how Winter was dealing with this.
Winter was not sure why her mind kept going to thoughts of Harry Hook. His eyes were just so pretty and his accented-voice made her swoon. The image of her and him almost kissing sending shivers reeling down her spine, her heart ached.
Harry Hook.
Everything, every little memory she with him flittering across her mind. The little games of footsie in class, all his suave flirting, the tutoring sessions, the horse-riding in the woods, him giving her love bites in her room.
Every little smile, every little flush, every little thing that had ever happened between them was whirling around Winter's mind. It swirled with the storm within.
The redness from where the boiling liquid had touched disappeared as Winter's skin cooled. Her costume suddenly felt tighter and far too restricted and her coughing became more insistent. It was too much.
Jay gripped the sleeve of the elf costume tighter, ignoring the stickiness of the love potion. He expected it to be piping hot, and yet it seemed to have cooled down drastically.
Forcing Winter upright, Jay continued to hit her back, hoping it would help.
"Winter, look at me," Jay ordered frantically, grabbing Winter's chin and forcing her to meet his gaze.
They may have not been close at all, but Jay still considered her a friend of sorts. He did not want anything bad to happen, especially due to him.
As soon as Winter was forced to meet Jay's gaze, it was like something just clicked. Suddenly, she found that she quite liked the brown of Jay's irises.
Jay had always been a handsome guy, but Winter had never really noticed it. Until now that was. It felt like she could not breathe, she could nothing against the captivating gaze of Jay.
Jay. Jay. Jay.
The scar on her hip sent a burning shock through her, a silent reminder of Harry Hook. Harry Hook who was her soulmate, the one she was desperately trying not to fall in love with.
But then he was gone, as though he never had a place in her mind or heart at all.
No, it was Jay. It had always been Jay.
How could Winter not notice it before?
His long hair which she desperately wanted to run her hands through, his chocolate eyes which could charm anyone, that gorgeous smile. His tan skin, his playful manner, his entire aura was drawing Winter in.
Fire licked up through her veins reaching her wildly pumping heart. She loved him, she always had and she always would. How could she forget that?
Her world was on fire and no one could save her but him. But Jay.
"Winter," and his voice had sent her into a frenzy.
There was only one thing she could say to him, the one thing that she knew with all her heart.
"I love you."
Jay was taken aback. He and Winter were not close at all. Sure they were friendly with each other, but their relationship was nothing like Winter had with Evie or Mal or even freaking Harry Hook.
Now, it was not like Winter was not pretty and her personality was cute; yes, but Jay had never really looked at her in the romantic-interest type light. However, holding her arm now and seeing the pure adoration in her eyes as she confessed her love for him stirred something within Jay.
Was that desire?
He could not be sure, but Jay knew he was flattered. Winter Frost was looking at him even more passionately than she looked at Harry Hook, so yes, it was definitely enough to make Jay blush.
But then reality caught up.
The love spell. What Winter felt for him, how she was looking at him and the confession she admitted to him was completely and utterly fake. Phony.
Still, there was an odd skip to his heart as he looked at her.
Had she always smelled so good? Like freshly picked berries, it made Jay hum in delight. And while he had always thought she was pretty, Jay could not stop himself from seeing just how breathtaking she was.
She looked adorable and hot in that elf outfit.
Jay thought he felt something for Lonnie a few months ago, but those feelings faded with time and they decided they were much better cut out as friends. But those little feelings were nothing compared to this newfound spark for Winter.
Winter. Winter. Winter. His Winnie.
It was then Jay noticed that they were surrounded by the love potion and not only was he touching it (as it was covering Winter) but he was heavily inhaling it. Jay may have not been affected quite as much as Winter was, but he certainly was feeling the effects of the spell.
He flashed Winter a slightly dazed smile, earning one in return.
"I love you too," he smiled, brushing one of Winter's braids behind her ear.
It was a comical sight, to see a biker and an elf soaked in pink standing in the middle of a huge pink puddle that was wafting the smell of roses dripped in honey. It was sickly sweet and Carlos made sure to plug his nose in fear of inhaling too much and falling under its effects.
The last thing he needed was to start a throuple with Jay and Winter.
However, the sight in front of Carlos greatly disturbed him. Winter and Jay were staring at each other as though they were the only things on the planet.
Despite everything going through his frantic mind, a single thought broke through. Harry was so going to kill them.
"Jay!" Carlos snapped, his voice sounding odd and higher-pitched since he was pinching his nostrils so tightly.
Jay seemed to snap out of it, the dopey smile leaving his face as his head turned to Carlos. While Jay may have been slightly infected by the potion washed over the grounds and all over Winter, he was still conscious of himself enough that he could make coherent sense of what was going on.
Winter, on the other hand, was not. Her thoughts were a storm of only one thing.
Jay. Jay. Jay.
"Jay, what the hell are we going to do? Fairy Godmother will kill us. Then Evie will. Then Mal. Don't even get me started on what Harry will do to us! He'll hook us, skin us alive, and then feed us to the killer sharks!" Carlos was panicking, pacing around in a frenzy.
"Bro, calm down, we can just—" Jay was struggling for what to do, "we can, uhm..."
Jay really did not know. The best thing would probably be to go to Fairy Godmother immediately as Winter was very obviously under more extreme effects. But Jay was not about risk being given detention for the rest of the year unless Winter appeared as though she was actually dying.
Therefore, the next best option was Mal or Uma as they knew spells. It should not be much for them to whip up an anti-love spell. Jay quickly decided Mal was the better option as Uma was always with Harry and the second Harry saw Winter's state you could bet someone was going to get hooked.
Not only that, but Jay and Harry had finally been seeing eye-to-eye after all these years. They were on the road to becoming friends, but that would all be ruined if Harry thought Jay was trying to steal the girl he was head over heels for. Seriously though, Harry was lunatic and he would go absolutely psycho when he saw what they accidentally did to Winter.
So no, Uma was not the option.
However, Jay and Carlos still dreaded how upset Mal and Evie would be over this.
"We'll go to Mal, don't worry," Jay tried only for Carlos to shake his head.
Winter too focused on Jay to take any real note of the conversation taking place.
"Mal will kill us though—wait! Maybe they don't need to know, maybe no one does!" Carlos gasped causing Jay to narrow his eyes.
"What do you mean? Even if we don't tell anyone you don't think they'll notice her behavior? Winter's not acting even slightly like herself, there is no way they won't—" Jay did not get to finish as Carlos cut him off.
The white-haired teen motioned wildly while shaking his head. "No, the effects of this stuff should be washed away by Sunday. If we just hide Winter until then—"
"—Okay but that's if she takes a cup of it. Keyword: a cup. Carlos, she had seven liters dumped onto her, the effects of this will last for weeks at least—!" Jay argued, still holding onto a dopey Winter who was casually running her gloved hands over his arms.
Jay shivered at the gentle touch, quickly glancing at Winter who was more than happy with touching him. It really did flatter him.
"Yeah, but we can still see. Jay, we hide her until Sunday, if the effects are not gone by then we'll go to Mal, deal?" Carlos tried causing Jay to groan.
However, with once glance at Winter, he found that his heart was beating slightly faster. Maybe just a few days of enjoying whatever this was couldn't hurt... right?
"Fine," Jay ground out, pinching the bridge of his nose.
He could not believe he was doing this. A few months ago he may have done this just to spite Harry, but now Jay actually felt sort of bad. Especially because Jay was feeling something for Winter with all this love potion surrounding him.
"Okay, so we hide her in our dorm because we need to be watching her 24/7," Carlos exclaimed, "and no one else can see her so..."
"Yeah, yeah," Jay nodded along, jumping when Winter suddenly turned toward the door leading to the party.
"Oh Gosh, I am just so happy! I have found my true love, my soulmate..." Winter was not sure why a sharp burning pain went across her hip at her words, but she ignored her. She just loved Jay so much!
Jay could not stop himself from smiling at her over-enthusiastic words, looking down at her while biting his lip. How had he not noticed how cute she was before? So freaking beautiful.
Suddenly, the two were holding hands, looking into each other's eyes. The scent of roses dripping with honey transmitted heavily from them, Carlos frowning at the sight.
In Carlos's opinion, the two of them standing like that just looked wrong. No, not wrong but fake.
Everything about their newfound love for each other appeared forced... and it was forced — because this love was almost against their wills. It was effect of the love spell, it was not natural.
It was then that Carlos realized the difference between fake love and real love. This was not how Mal and Ben looked when they were together. Nor Evie and Doug. And he sure as hell knew it was not how he and Jane came across.
Even Harry and Winter, while they were not a couple, appeared to have more authentic love than whatever this was between Jay and her.
It was then Carlos realized what this was between Jay and Winter. It was infatuation: an obsession that had him cringing.
Yep, there was no way this could turn out well.
"How do you feel, babe?" Jay smiled in an almost mischievous way, his eyes twinkling as he spoke lowly.
It caused Winter's heart to pound in harder, her heart now racing so much that it was actually beginning hurt. But this was what love felt like, she figured.
His hands clenched her own tighter, Winter looking around with such a wide smile—seeming to not know what to do with herself.
"I feel..." Jay and Carlos looked at her expectantly, "I feel..." Winter beamed, "I feel like singing your name!"
Carlos and Jay froze. Why did that sound so familiar?
"What—?" Carlos never got to finish his question as Winter suddenly opened her mouth.
"JAYYY!" She sang in an extremely powerful melody.
Winter may have not sung often, but her mother was Elsa for crying out loud. Elsa was known for her powerful and majestic vocals, the Snow Queen has some of the most impressive vocals out there. It only made sense that Winterfell would fall in suit. The apple does not fall far from the tree after all.
Though, unlike her mother, Winterfell had a tune of a whimsical chime to her strong voice. Something that only made her vocals that much better. As Elsa and Anna had put it many times before, Winter sounded much like their mother when she was alive.
It was something that always brought tears to Elsa's eyes as the Snow Queen loved more than anything how much Winter sounded like Queen Iduna had.
Carlos's mouth fell agape when Winter started singing Jay's name. Jay was shocked as well. As long as they had been at Auradon Prep, neither had ever heard Winter sing. Nobody had as Winter generally did not join in on the random music numbers that everyone found so normal except for her.
To say they were awed was an understatement.
However, it was not until Jay realized that Winter singing was catching unwanted attention did he stop her by covering her mouth. She giggled from under his hand, looking at him with wide excited eyes.
It made Jay swoon.
"Dude, we need to go, like now," Carlos exclaimed, motioning to Evie who had just exited the dance.
Jay's eyes grew, and with no hesitation, he reached down and slung Winter over his shoulder. The pink covered elf squealed as Jay broke into a run with Carlos on his heel, the two disappearing around the corner just as Evie looked in the direction they had been.
"What the—?" The blue-haired girl murmured, catching sight of all the pink liquid covering the floor in front of the bathroom.
She had come looking for Winter as she was gone far longer than she should have been. Everyone had been getting anxious, primarily Harry who was about ready to go looking for her himself to finish what they started on the dance floor. Well, that and he was genuinely worried about her.
The group had found a spot at one of the tables, all of them deciding to take a small break from dancing. Evie said that she would go check on Winter so Harry was not bursting into the woman's restroom and getting himself in trouble.
"Gosh," Evie muttered, tip-toeing past the sticky pink liquid and entering the bathroom.
She was now more worried for Winter after seeing whatever the hell that was.
"Winnie?" Evie called she got into the bathroom, receiving no reply.
She cursed, bending down to look under the stalls hoping to spot her legs. Unfortunately, she was met with nothing a clear sign that she was alone in the bathroom. Evie did not have a good feeling and she was normally right when she had a bad feeling.
Spinning on her heel, Evie left the bathroom, scurrying past the pink liquid before going back into the party. The flashing lights met her eyes, but Evie gave no mind, quickly hustling toward the table to the large crew of people she called her friends.
Harry was sitting next to Uma, Gil on the other side of him with Sonny carelessly sprawled across his lap. Evie had met Sonny a little earlier after an introduction from Doug. Evie and Sonny had hit it off quite well, Evie for once meeting someone whose perkiness exceeded her own.
And she loved it.
She also thought the relationship she had with Gil was cute.
Doug was next to them, and an empty chair on his other side where Evie had previously been sitting. Mal came next with Ben on her other side, Jonah just after him. Harry was still sour with Jonah, though the pirate mostly got over it after Jonah kissed his cheek as an apology.
They were a few other empty seats for anyone else who wanted to join. Jane had gone looking for Carlos and Jay was bound to show up at some point. Plus, Lonnie had mentioned coming to sit with them after dancing with Emmett for a few more minutes.
"Winter's not in the bathroom," Evie announced the second she got to the table causing everyone to look at her.
Harry scowled. "What'dya mean?" He asked as Evie sat down.
"I'm pretty sure she went back to her dorm," Harry started to stand only for Uma to tug him back down.
"Don't force her to come out, Har. She obviously was overwhelmed, I think she needs to clear her head," Uma stated, understanding where Winter was coming from.
There was some times when all Uma needed to do was be alone and think as well.
"Fine," the pirate grumbled, knowing Uma was right.
However, Evie frowned, a bad feeling still settled deep within her stomach. She ignored it, convincing herself that Winter had simply gone back to her dorm room. Evie could talk to her tomorrow, and Evie could not wait to address that almost-kiss with Harry.
But still... something felt off.
