"Has Sam gotten taller?" Celeste asked as she ascended the stairs of Cabin One, pulling her dark curls back into a large clip. "He seems taller." She pushed open the door and stepped inside, followed closely by Cassie and Astrid.
"Mm," Cassie shook her head. "No, his head's just bigger."
The three girls laughed before Celeste continued. "I don't know, he looked pretty deflated after Mr H shot him down."
"Oh my god," Astrid threw her head back, still laughing. "The poor guy! I thought he was gonna melt into the floor!"
Laughter continued to fill the room as Cassie began her surveillance, fiddling with her clipboard. "Okay, let's see... four bunks, check. No damage, check..."
"Your brother gets bigger every time I see him, Astrid," Celeste tried not to interrupt, but managed to anyway. "How often does he work out? He's built like a damn refrigerator."
"Dad owns an MMA gym," Astrid explained, her eyes following along each floorboard for any potential loose nails. "He's in there pretty much any chance he gets."
"Well," Celeste pulled on an empty dresser drawer, checking for damage or bugs, "it's certainly working for him."
Astrid almost snorted, turning back around, her perfectly waved ponytail swinging. "Seriously? Him? Ew."
Celeste shrugged, pushing the drawer back, her searching having been thankfully fruitless. "Why? How would you pick?"
"That's not really fair," Cassie cut her off from the other side of the room, still checking off the list of items on her clipboard. "One of the guys is her brother."
"Then she still has three choices."
Celeste and Cassie both looked at Astrid, now intrigued with what her answer would be.
"I... don't really know them," she tried to brush them off, but Celeste seemed particularly persistent.
"You've looked at them," she continued.
Astrid pressed her lips together to search for another deterrent. "I don't like to judge a book by its cover."
"That's literally the way you decide whether to read a book or not," Cassie noted, not realising that she was aiding in Celeste plight, not Astrid's.
"I refuse to answer on the grounds that it may incriminate me." Astrid crossed her arms over her chest.
"Seriously? You're pleading the Fifth?" Celeste cocked one eyebrow upwards.
Astrid shrugged. "Works for everybody else. This cabin is risk-free, can we please move on to another? And another line of questioning while we're at it."

"So," Clementine started, kicking a loose stone with her boot as she and Jackson began the hiking trail. The trail had become overgrown since the spring, littered with rocks, twigs, and most of the trail now hidden by grass.
"So," Jackson copied, leaning down to grab a broken branch and tossing it into the long grass.
"Don't give me that," Clem turned around. "Conrad."
Jack stopped, his hand hovering over a large rock bound to be a trip-hazard.
"I saw you blushing when you looked at him," Clementine teased, continuing the path.
Her friend pushed the rock away before standing again. "Me? What about you?" he guffawed. "You wouldn't stop staring at Cassie."
Clementine spun on her heel, glaring at him. "Shut your face," she ordered, her finger shoved in his direct line of sight. "It's not like that."
"Oh yeah?" Jackson tossed another branch. "Enlighten me."
"We're just friends," she reiterated through gritted teeth.
Jackson nodded, amused. "Uh huh. You wish you were more."
Clem threw a stone at him but missed. "I said shut up. She doesn't think of me like that."
"Have you asked?"
She was silent for a moment, biting her lip. "Well, no..." She sighed, defeated. "I don't want to ruin anything. I'm happy just being friends."
Jackson passed her as he continued clearing the trail. "You keep telling yourself that, carrot-head."

"Dude, why's your sister back this year?" Sam asked Aidan as he leaned down to check under one of the bunks in Cabin Six.
Aidan shrugged, resting the edge of his clipboard against his hip. "She wanted a distraction, I guess. She's had a lot going on the past year."
"Is she, uh..." Sam cleared him throat, standing, "seeing anyone?"
Aidan and Conrad looked at each other before both turning to face Sam. "You trying to get with his sister, Sammy?" Conrad asked.
Sam averted his gaze, stuttered. "N-No, uh, no." He fidgeted with the gold ring that hung on from the chain around his neck. "Just... making conversation. We haven't seen her for years, I'm just curious."
Aidan shrugged again. "If she is, she hasn't brought them home."
Sam quickly tried to change the subject. "What about you, Conrad?" he asked. "Anyone taken your fancy?"
Conrad smirked. "You wish you knew my fancy, Sammy," he winked playfully.
