The day appeared hazy, and you could not tell if it was going to rain or not. It just seemed dull. The hazy weather appears to have affected everyone.
April takes a sip from her water bottle while flipping through her notebook. It was Sunday afternoon, and she had no idea how she arrived at the school garden. It appeared favorable because of the fresh air she was receiving. But clearly not conducive to reading. Different students were busy walking back and forth, and the noise they were making completely distracted her.
She could not concentrate in noisy environments. She often wondered how most people could read and understand in noisy environments. She could not even read while listening to music because she preferred silence everywhere. During the days she was at home, she would frequently go to church to read because her compound was the worst compound you could ever encounter. Women were constantly arguing, and if it was not about the general restroom, it was about the kitchen.
April bites her nails and stares ahead.
"I noticed you are constantly biting your nails. That is a bad habit." April literally jumps from her seat. Meanwhile, Light laughs heartily.
"Wow, I totally got you!" Light says, amidst laughter. April smiles while rolling her eyes.
"Always reading," he remarks as he removes the physics textbook; April remains silent. "Do you ever get bored?" He inquired.
April gives a smile.
"Not everyone is born with a silver spoon!" She pauses. "Wait, let me rephrase. Most people were born with a silver spoon, but they lost it in the long run." April says this now, looking up at a confused Light. She smiles. "Most of us got here after putting in a lot of effort. We don't have to throw the opportunity away. My mother can not even afford a three-square meal, but I was accepted to Hallel College on a scholarship. And to complete my higher education. I need another scholarship. My mother cannot afford it!" April concludes, while Light stares at her. He licks his dried lips.
"How about your dad?"
"Hey, you are here!"
April and Light turn to face the direction they heard the voice.
April appeared stunned, and she suddenly began to feel uneasy; she thought she was done with this; she had never felt comfortable around Nimi.
Nimi, as usual, smiled calmly, and April secretly checked him out. He was on his Sunday wear. Which appeared neatly ironed; she had never seen him in a short before; it looked kind of funny; she knew senior students wore trousers.
"Nimi, what is up with these shorts!" Light inquires and laughs; April simply smiles, wondering how he knew what was going on in her mind.
"One of my Sunday whites is gone. The other is in the laundry, " Nimi explains.
"Third one!" Nimi smiled as Light attacked; he understood what Light was trying to do.
"I don’t have a third one!" Nimi lies.
"Who does not have a third one? The three are clearly dirty!" Light says, making April smile. She could see the embarrassed expression on Nimi's face.
"Be embarrassing me in front of a girl!" Nimi hisses in a playful manner. "Please shift," He pushes Light playfully and joins them. April smiled and watched them without saying anything.
"Please do not push me off!" Light complains.
"Hey!" He turns to April, who actually smiles and responds.
"So you two study together?" Nimi inquires, looking from April to Light.
"Not really!" April responds.
"This term will really be on fire, I can see competitors!" Nimi says, smirking.
"I heard from Flourish that you and Wendy were at the top of the class; my poor sister is frustrated!" Light laughs.
"No matter how hard I try, Wendy always beats me to it, and I do not enjoy competing with her. That girl can make you mad; she always wants to rub it in my face. I have no choice but to step up my game!"Nimi complains, staring into space.
"Wendy is still bitchy as usual. When we were in JSS1, I beat her once, we became sworn enemies!" Light scoffs. "She doesn't mind coming to your desk to show off her results. Sometimes I think she is possessed Light complaints.
"You two are gossiping!" April joins in, making both boys laugh.
"Men do not gossip!" Light explains.
"We discuss!" Nimi supports him.
April laughs even more as a result of her light response.
"Dudes!" She giggles.
"Whether you like it or not. We are men!" Light states. "And Nimi, you and Wendy should prepare, because this term will have a major twist," Light jokes. Getting Nimi to laugh.
"Bring it on!" Nimi smiles and looks in April's direction. "You are also a threat!"
April grins.
"Where is the fun without competition? This will show us how good we are. Who are the top six students in the class?" April inquired.
"I believe it is Wendy, Nimi, Tibiebi, Flourish, Aisha, and Gideon." Light speaks, prompting Nimi to smile.
"You have not attended school in the past three years. But you have our info!" Nimi says, raising an eyebrow.
"That's been informed!" Light defends.

April walks into the Music room, hugging her book; she had succeeded in providing an excuse for both boys, who did not appear to be ready to stop conversing. She noted that Light was an A-student. He did not need to read. Everything the teacher said always went directly to his brain. She discovered that Nimi always reads at night.
She was stunned to learn the other day that he understood everything the French teacher had taught. Even though he was focused on his phone. Following his footstep was approximately failure. She lets out a smile.
She knew she needed to beat them. They all seemed very good. She could admit that she was not used to competition. These people were determined to be the best. For them, it was a source of pride.
April realised she had arrived in front of the music hall, which appeared to be open as usual. That was the only place she could think of that was serene.
She slowly pushes open the door and walks in.
She walks down to the chair near the window. The last time she was here, she sat in the exact same spot. She uses her handkerchief to clean it up. Before sitting on it.
She drops her Physics textbook and rough book on the desk. She spends some time studying her work before beginning to solve it.
She almost flees the window when someone sits on the desk. She slowly looks up at the person, as if in an Indian film.
April's mouth feels dry. She takes a few moments to look at him. She hoped he was not as high as the previous day. She found the way he always looked at her strange. He looked into her eyes as if he was looking for something.
April's gaze catches the bottle of coke in his hand. The first thing she thought of was tramadol, and she wondered how someone who appeared so innocent could have such bad habits. If she had not met him in such a state the other day, she would not have believed it even if someone told her.
"Stop staring; it is offensive." Jordan said.
That voice sent shivers through her body.
"Good afternoon!" She greets. Turning away right away. Although she was unable to see his face, she could tell he was observing her. With a racing heart, she begins to solve. Wondering if coming back to that class was a bad idea. This was undoubtedly the only quiet place she could think of.
Her thoughts drift back to the coke he was holding. She could not help but wonder why so many wealthy people choose to destroy themselves with their own hands. Or what would a Ss3 student do with hard drugs? Rather than studying.
"If you could just concentrate and stop thinking about what is inside my bottle of coke, you would be able to solve it correctly!" Jordan says throwing April off guard. April was left speechless as she questioned how he was able to accurately read her thoughts.
"I, I.., " She stammers, obviously unable to speak.
"X can't be equal to 2. Resolve it. Look at where you made the mistake!" Jordan corrects. Meanwhile, April follows what she was asked to do until she gets the final answer. She checks for the answer at the end of the textbook. She smiles when she realizes she solved it correctly.
"Thank you!" She says, still gazing at her book.
"You are just too plain to read, and you appear to lose focus easily. You need to toughen up. Because it could be a serious problem for you!" Jordan advises, taking a sip of his coke. April's gaze follows the bottle of Coke.
"Do you want a sip? It is just a bottle of Coke, do not look at it with disgust!" Jordan says this with a raised eyebrow. "And it is become offensive."
"I apologize!" April manages to say.
Returning to her work.
"You have made the same error. I understand how confusing it can be. However, you should always subtract. Because you will not get the right answer. Jordan says now moving closer.
"Should I subtract this?" April asks, her gaze fixed on her book.
"What is the final answer?" Jordan asks, sipping his coke.
"4!" April replies and looks at him.
"Not correct! Resolve it and do not make the same mistake!" He urges April, who does as she is told. "No!" He says, causing her to pause. "The same mistake!" He chuckles. April lets go of her pain and uses her hand to support her jaw.
