Back

I pushed the heavy door open more to get a better look, but I still didn't enter. Inside there were men stood in the darkness with there backs to me. There was at least four men, all stood still, protecting, actually more like guarding, something- someone.

I tried to get a better look by moving in but the gun in my hand clanked the metal door, making a loud ding. There heads snapped to me at the same time as if they were robots. I froze hoping they were blind. They weren't. One of them came wading towards me and I still couldn't see his face because of the dark.

"Hey?" I tilted my head, trying to be friendly.

Out of nowhere, he grabbed the sides of my head and smashed it into the near by wall causing my nose to automatically break and bleed. I shoved him away, before manoeuvring my nose, trying to get it used to the throbbing pain.

"That was rude." I sighed.

In the process of him grabbing me, I had somehow dropped both my guns on the floor a few metres to the side of me, so they're weren't an option.

I took out a knife from my thigh and threw it at him, taking him by surprising as it landed deep in his chest. I chuckled at how well I had thrown it before walking over and taking it back from his fallen body.

Then I remembered the three others. I slowly moved my head up, expecting to see them all charging at me. But, they weren't. They were on the floor dead.

My mouth hung open, confused on how the hell that had just happened. I stepped through the bodies, examining each one. They had been shot, but I hadn't heard any shots.

"Over... here." Someone choked out.

I followed their voice to where the men had originally been stood.

And there on the floor directly in front of me was Newt. I dropped down to my knees, trying my best to hold in the tears.

"Newt?" I stuttered.

"Yeah?" He smiled up at me, before laying on his back and holding his side. He dropped a gun, which he must've used to kill the other guards.

He was beaten, very badly. His cheek were boys were extremely chiselled and his under eye bags were dark from being starved. There was a bruise on every limb of his body, a few cuts and there was a stab wound in his side.

I gasped before biting my lip, trying to think causing him to chuckle.

"Don't worry. I'm- I'm okay."

I scoffed, "No, you're not."

He shut his eyes for a second, "I know."

I put his arm round my shoulders and lifted him off the floor. He was too light.

"Let's go you back to, T."

"Tommy?"

"Yes. Tommy." I nodded as I headed for the door.

Before leaving, I squatted us down so I could pick up one of my pistols in my free hand.

"How are- how are you?" He choked out, one of his legs trailing behind us.

"Good, I guess. But, that's not really important right now."

Newt's panting was heavy and it got heavier the further we staggered. I remembered that we had comms and I tapped the ear piece.

Newt noticed, "Do you have a faulty ear or are you just doing that for fun?"

"Comms."

"It- it won't be working." He sighed.

"Why?"

We turned another corner. I had no clue where we going. I was hopeful to bump into someone.

"The guards said that- that Ava had managed to disable them."

"Ava?"

"Your mo-"

"Yeah, I know who she is. I just killed her, like 10 minutes ago."

"Well, no you didn't. They were saying that just before you made your loud entrance."

I rolled my eyes, "How the hell is she still alive?"

"Don't ask me. She's just been keeping me hostage." He coughed.

"Yeah, sorry about that. But, I'm going to politely tell you to shut up." I chuckled, "You're half dead. I don't want you to waste all your energy because of your gobby mouth."

He scoffed, "Rude. But, I guess you're right. We will be able to catch up afterwards."

"We sure will." I smiled, looking forward to it.

After another 5 minutes of wandering around randomly and trying to find the exit, we finally bumped into someone.

Brenda.

"Oh my god, Newt!" She exclaimed, rushing forward and putting his other arm around her shoulders.

"Brenda?" Newt coughed and she nodded, a massive smile on her face.

I tried my best not to scoff because not that long back she was trying to get with Thomas and she clearly didn't want us to find Newt.

Newt's head turned slowly to me, noticing my agitated face. That would be in our conversation later.

"Where did you go?" Brenda asked me.

"The opposite way you went. Y'know like we said?"

"I know that but what was that way?"

"A lab, where Ava was. Then I went to the cells." I shrugged, confused as to why this was relevant to her.

"Mhm, okay."

"Have you seen any of the others?"

"No. I think they've gone back to the plane because comms was cut off."

"How do you know that if you haven't seen any of them?" I furrowed my eyebrows, my eyes staying straight ahead.

"It's just a guess." She scrambled, "I've checked every inch of this place, I can't find them."

"If you checked every inch then why didn't I see you?"

She licked her lips, unsure of what to say. Newt let out a broken laugh, knowing what I was doing.

"Brenda, just shut up." He panted.

"I- okay."

We reached the corridor where the lab was and where I had taken out those guys. We had to shuffle slowly around their bodies.

"You did this?" Newt asked.

"Mhm." I mumbled while looking into the lab to see Ava's body no longer there, but there was no sign of blood. I cursed under my breath.

"What?" Brenda questioned.

"I swear I killed her right there."

"Well, she's not there."

"Don't you think I know that?" I snapped before making us move again.

In silence, we reached the ship where everyone else was waiting anxiously. Thomas was pacing back and forth while Gally was tapping his foot.

"A little help here?" I got their attention, causing their heads to go. They ran over and took Newt from Brenda and I before laying him on a stretcher.

Brenda went over to join them but I stayed still, watching them all fuss over Newt. I smiled to myself, seeing us all back together again. Gally's head raised and he looked around for me, once our eyes met he walked over slowly.

"What's up? We've got him back."

"I know," I smiled, "And I'm so happy."

"But.." Gally could sense it.

"But Ava isn't dead."

"Huh?" His eyebrows furrowed, "You said you killed her."

"I thought I did." I pinched the bridge of my nose, "I just don't get how she is still shucking alive. She's been shot twice, and come back alive twice."

Gally pulled me into a warm hug, wrapping his arms round my neck while mine were around his waist.

His chin rested on my head, "Let's go kill her. She must still be here."

"But," I raised my head, "what about Newt."

"Go." Someone said from behind us and we turned. It was Frypan. "Go. Go kill that shank. We've got it covered here."

I nodded and sucked in a breath. While I exhaled, I thought about what was the right thing to do. I turned to Gally and looked up at his mesmerising eyes.

"It's the right thing to do." He smiled, almost as if he could read my mind.

"Okay. Let's go."

"Good luck." Frypan did a thumbs up before joining the others again.
