Luv, Val
My eyes flew open in a panic as I practically bounced from my covers. I panted as I clutched the sheets scattered around me as if my life depended on the delicate piece of fabric. My breath came in bursts of white in the frosty night air that hovered inside my bedroom.
The rainbow wallpaper around my room seemed so sinister as I attempted to forget the frightening dream. Groaning, I rubbed my eyes and turned on my marble bedside lamp. I drew my legs out of my bed hesitantly and placed them on the soft woollen carpet, sighing as my body slowly began to relax. My mind began to drift off the terrible dream as I started to nod off once more.
My head was slumped on my shoulder when I heard a blood chilling thump downstairs. I bolted upright and shivered as I tried to listen more carefully. My feet carried themselves out of the pink bed and into my pair of fluffy slippers. Another thump came even louder as I tiptoed over to my desk on the other side of the room, away from the door.
My parents. I worried as I climbed under the wooden piece of furniture. I grabbed my pocket knife from behind its drawers noiselessly. I listened motionlessly as I sat there.
Darling, if you hear thumps in the night, mum will take care of it, ok? Dad will fight off the bad guys, ok? Their voices echoed in my head as I shook in fright, as the thumps grew louder by the minute, and closer to my door, it seems. I held on to my blonde hair tightly as I readied my knife.
Suddenly there was a bone shuddering scream coming from under me. My mother. A curse sounded and a yell, before two consecutive thumps. My father. What was happening?????
I remembered to be scared and shrank under the desk as I curled into what I believed to be an impenetrable ball. I could feel it in my entire body, the news stabbing right into my conscience as I controlled my sobs desperately. They were gone.
Footsteps thundered up the stairs as my door smashed open. I balled my hands into fists with rage as I remembered that I didn't shut off the lights. I saw black polished boots parade around my room from my position, wedged awkwardly under my chair, which was tucked under the table tightly.
"I know you're here, little girl" A low voice crowed near me. I shiver as a wave of nausea rushed down my spine. "Come out, it'll make my job earlier, and save you some trouble..." It whispered like the devil itself.
As a few minutes passed, my body refused to allow me to reply to his request. He snorted lightly.
"Very well, unfortunately then I must take action, little girl. Not a wise choice." The voice snickered.Β "I know exactly where you are you know. Last chance to present yourself"
I nearly whimpered but stopped just in time. The man sighed.
"Fine then."
I remembered yelling and thrashing as his calloused hand snaked under the table and grabbed me ruthlessly. I attempted to kick and stab him but with a shake of my body the knife dropped like a stone from my trembling hands. I was roughly tossed to the floor, screeching.
My assailant's emerald eyes glared into mine. I witnessed the amusement that was present on his face. Growling, I was desperate to not show any weakness. However I shivered as the scream of my poor mother echoed in my tortured ears.
The last thing I remember was him raising a razor sharp syringe. I recoiled as a silver feeling gripped my body, as the syringe pierced my flesh. Then darkness embraced me.

Stealthily, I flew across the modern rooftops, underneath the glittering stars of a moonlit night. My shadow danced in places unknown with glee as I searched for my target.
My blonde hair floated majestically behind my shoulders as my sapphire eyes scanned below me for a glimpse of chocolate brown eyes. My shoulders were tense and my hand was on my dagger in its leather sheath. Squinting, I crouched silently above the nightclub. My golden mask irritated my face as its feathers flapped in rhythm to the breeze, much like my annoying yellow party dress, a compulsory disguise.Β
When was Edgar going to damn show up? An assassin has places to be, for goodness sake. I thought impatiently as I motionlessly remained on the roof, agile as a cat. The gleaming light shone from the windows on the snow white walls beneath me. A strange decorative colour for a simple place where people get drunk. I couldn't understand that terrible design choice.
My orbs spied a tuft of unruly bronze, chocolate coloured hair at the doorway. Finally. I looked more carefully at the figure, and decided that he was the target. My reflexes kicked in violently as I took a running leap off the roof, landing in an alley right next to it. Under the cover of darkness, I made my move to the back door. I was sixteen, for god's sake, the bouncer, however dumb the big guy seemed, would not be fooled. I was here to kill one person, and only one.
I picked the lock with no difficulty and slipped into the club. The light was almost blinding as the full force of horrible party music forced its way into my ears. The disco ball spun proud on the white ceiling. Making sure that nobody was staring, I slipped into the restroom next to the door, not forgetting to lock it again.
I looked at myself in the pristine mirrors as my boots scuffed against the polished wooden floor. Again, the design of this place was disgusting. Who puts white concrete and dark floorboards together? I sighed as I stalked back into the corridor, and eventually plunged headfirst into the raging sea of people.
It didn't take me long to catch Edgar flirting with a brunette chick. Wow, I didn't know why the agency wanted him dead, but he was far from a catch. The girl must have been real drunk to be manipulated by that slug. I sighed and walked glamorously to the bar table next to where they were, ahem, dancing, and sat on a stool.
The bartender was a young man in his twenties, and once he spied me sitting down he flocked over eagerly and asked me what I would like to drink.
"A lemonade please, and make it swift" I smirked at him. Not to my surprise, he winked at my flirtatiously and I raised an eyebrow. He raced off to make my drink. Suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Well hello there lovely" Edgar's breath raked my shoulder as he sat beside me. "What brings you here tonight?"
I felt sick in my stomach. He was a revolting man. I turned to him and glared straight into his soul. I was about to open my mouth and tell him my purpose when the pesky bartender came back with my lemonade. I looked at him and nodded. His eyes flipped to Edgar and a whisker of disappointment tinted his face. He stepped away as I leisurely took a sip of my drink.
"Well, Edgar, why would you ask that?" I put my drink down slowly and looked him in the eyes. I could see his muscles and jaw tense at his name.
"How do you know my name?" He growled. I laughed.
"Would it surprise you if I said that my agency wanted you dead?" Before the stunned man had time to react, I grabbed the hilt of my hidden dagger, flung it out of its sheath, and immediately plunged it into his chest with the force of a tsunami. Screaming filled my ears, a sound of bliss, as his body hit the floor with a thud, and blood started dripping from his wound. I retrieved my dagger and returned it to its home as I dropped the dress that coated my leather gear. Nobody noticed my boots. Bunch of dumb people.
I walked out of the club, entertained as confusion and fear unleashed itself behind me. I walked back to the alley and with a few powerful leaps I was back up on the roof and sprinting, my feet not even relying on the ground to move.
Another job well done.

I had received a phone call a day ago.
"Aurelia, a new job has been assigned to you"Β Alpha had started. "You are to infiltrate Evermoon academy and assassinate Jason Riplash. He is not to be underestimated for private reasons. We have an enrolment for you, starting tomorrow. There will be transport at your location ready to go. This is not a time sensitive mission. You must succeed. You will know who he is, a picture will be sent to you. Discard this phone at the earliest opportunity." And with that he hung up, like he always did. Nothing new.
So here I sat, bored in this car, in the midnight blue uniform of Evermoon Academy, ignoring my idiot driver. A sports and school bag sat beside me, filled with all the essentials for boarding and all that jazz. Benefits of no parents or family, I guess.
Whenever I thought about my parents, my brain would buzz, as if a blank memory was missing at its core. All I remembered of my history was a pair of emerald eyes and a sinister face. I had grown not to care anymore. My history didn't matter as much as my present, right? I sighed as I leant against the door of the car, vigilant as ever.Β
The driver continued attempting to make short talk with me as I ignored him, and eventually my line snapped.
"Come on, would you please just be quiet for the journey? Calm down!" I half roared. The guy twitched and sighed. "As you wish, Miss. I apologise."
And I waited, happily satisfied by the driver's noiseless promise for silence, as the car ascended the winding roads to Evermoon Academy.

The black haired janitor was the only unfriendly one as I strode through the gates of the boarding school. She narrowed her eyes at me as I made my point to ignore her like I did the driver, and she snorted as I reached the door of registration. She walked past me, hoping to bump me with her cart, I presumed, except I bent my body in such a shape that no such thing would happen. She scowled as she walked off, leaving me alone with the cheery reception lady.
As I was taken on a tour of the creaky staircases and old classrooms of the Academy, I barely paid heed to the high pitched voice of my guide. It was early in the morning and I wasn't about to listen to anyone. My brain would be able to subconsciously absorb such repetitive information anyway.
The classrooms of this place was filled with rows upon rows of wooden desks and metal chairs, all polished like someone even remotely important would come at any second. The walls had their respective dull colours, mostly midnight blue. As I thought earlier, the staircase indeed made tons of noise as I walked on it, led by the bubbly woman towards the dormitory.
I stalked along, tense, behind her as she led me to a door that had to be one in a hundred. She placed a key in my hand. It was pleasantly cold.
"Miss Aurelia, this is your room. Your roommate should be in right now, if he's not sleeping. Go in when you're ready. It was a pleasure to be with you this morning." She said, smiled, and skipped away. How on earth did she take pleasure in that job?
I inserted the key into the doorknob and entered the room. And dear oh dear, what a sight awaited me.
A boy stood before me. His blonde hair was messy and tousled and his green eyes twinkled. His features were extremely recognisable. Jason's face stretched into a strange goofy grin.
"Hi! I'm Jason, your roommate! Jason Riplash. And what's your name?"
