chapter two
"full moon"

"GREAT, FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL is going swimmingly."

Lynn popped her jaw off to the side as irritation flowed throughout her veins, not to mention that the full moon tonight didn't seem to be helping her anger issues. Perhaps she should've stayed home just like her mother originally suggested.

Currently, Lynn was on her way back to Mr. Harris' class for detention after school. The rest of her classes weren't necessarily hard, and none of the teachers seemed to be a blunt and harsh as Mr. Harris, so that was a plus. She just couldn't wait to see the reaction written on her mother's face when she arrived home late only to tell her she managed to get detention on her first day, on second thought, she would wait.

Although, there was a bit of comfort knowing that Stiles, the boy she had met earlier in Chemistry, would also be serving a detention alongside Lynn. Right before class ended, Stiles and Scott had tossed a paper ball at the back of Mr. Harris' head, causing them both to end up in the principal's office, but only Stiles was the one to earn a detention.

As Lynn rounded a corner, she was unpleasantly surprised when she collided forcibly with another persons chest. All the books she had been carrying in her arms had fell to the ground in a sudden heap, and she narrowed her eyebrows angrily at whoever managed to run straight into her, but her annoyed expression faded when she recognized Scott.

"Sorry! Gosh, I wasn't even looking where I was going, I'm in such a rush, I'm sorry," Scott apologized rather quickly where it took a second for Lynn to even comprehend what he was actually saying, but she just simply waved him off while kneeling down to pick up her fallen books.

"Hey, maybe buy me a drink first," Lynn joked, letting a little laugh fall from her lips. Scott chuckled alongside her, and she could see the way his cheeks warmed up in the slightest way.

While he was fetching everything, Scott had seemingly done the same thing, bending down so he could collect a few papers that escaped her folder. She flashed him a rather soft smile, before paying her attention back towards gathering up her stuff.

But that was when the nose caught the whiff of a certain scent.

      Of another werewolf.

Lynn jerked her head back upwards, making eye contact with a slightly confused Scott as to why she was suddenly so jumpy.

"God, he stinks! His scent is so rather pungent, how in the hell did I not catch this before?" Lynn scolded herself in her mind, and she swiftly tucked all of her belongings back to her chest, clutching it so tightly as if her life depended on it.

Of course, it started to make sense. Lynn met Scott in Chemistry class, there are about a hundred and one scents in that classroom with all the different chemicals and such. So, if she wasn't forcibly trying to sniff out a werewolf, she would've never known.

"You alright?" Scott questioned, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion, and Lynn just nodded her repeatedly.

"Oh, yeah, yeah, uh, just realized I might be late for detention, don't want to do that again," Lynn spoke so fast, her tone of voice sounding so awkward, just as Scott had done about a minute or so ago. And before he even had the chance to say anything else, Lynn darted past him in the slim hallway so she could make it to detention.

After she determined that Scott was out of sight range and probably wouldn't hear her, she pressed herself up again the cold brick wall while swallowing some anxiety. How in the hell was there a werewolf at her school? What are the odds? And it just so happened to be someone she could've considered being a potential friend.

It would only be a certain amount of time before eventually Scott would sniff her out too — she wasn't too convinced it would be soon, though, since the way he smelled, he hadn't been a werewolf for long. He was probably still learning about his abilities, so she wasn't so worried about that part.

The Kennedy's had to leave their last home due to a similar event; she was discovered while shopping at the mall, and when that Beta had told the Alpha there were two Omega werewolves living in their town, they had two options.

One, being drop everything and become apart of their pack. And two...well, either join the pack, or die, plain and simple. Lynn and Katherine had been on their own for as long as they could remember, and had no intentions of joining any packs.

Lynn could only hope that if there was an Alpha here, they wouldn't give her such an ultimatum.

———

Truthfully, Lynn was convinced that being an evolved werewolf had to be the most amazing feeling in the entire world. And to think, that hardly any werewolf fully experienced a shift like this.

The wind whipped against Lynn's piercing white fur as she darted around the forest floor and jumped over fallen tree trunks. And as every werewolf heavily fears every full moon, Lynn was ecstatic. There truly was no better feeling that the crisp cold breeze that flowed through her ears and fur, or the shadows of the night being haunted by the brightness of the full moon.

However, Lynn's exciting run was brought to a hault when a certain scent caught her nose, and her paws slowly came to a stop while she lifted her nose even higher in the air.

Werewolf.

But it wasn't the same scent as the one she smelled on Scott earlier, no. This one was older, more mature, and a thought wondered in the back of her head if this could potentially be an alpha.

After hearing a twig branch snap a few yards away, possibly around ten or so, her blue eyes snapped in the direction of which she heard it.

One of the biggest perks of being an evolved werewolf was actually quite simple — if she were to run into others, they wouldn't automatically know who she was, they would only have her scent and that is if they can even remember it.

As she glanced up the hill, her paws careful on the ground so she wouldn't be too loud, but there was no avoiding it, the leaves would crush under her weight no matter what.

She froze in her paw steps as she spotted a shadow crawling over the hill, and that was when her piercing blue eyes matched with a pair of red ones.

A man had stepped over the front of the hill, his eyes steadily on the white wolf, where his face didn't show an inch of emotion. He was shifted, his fangs protruding past his lips and the recognizable features of a werewolf like the hair and eyes.

Lynn didn't move, not yet sure if this man would attack her or not, and she didn't want to insinuate anything and potentially make the situation worse.

The man took a single step forward, and with that, he stepped into the bright light that was casted by the moon. If Lynn was in her human form, she would've actually gasped at how charming he looked.

He looked to only be a few years older than herself, with an extremely sharp jawline and a scruffy beard coming in. When the red of the alpha eyes disappeared, they were replaced with a stunning green instead. He was wearing dark blue jeans, with a darker purple v-neck with showed off his muscles, both on his biceps and his chest.

"You're a new face," the man announced, almost as if he wasn't too surprised as Lynn expected him to be, it wasn't everyday you'd stumble along a white wolf — it's one of Lynn's proudest features, truthfully. "Haven't seen a wolf like you in awhile."

The man quite obviously didn't mind the fact that Lynn wouldn't be answering anytime soon. A part of her was genuinely curious in having a conversation with him, but if she were to shift back to her human form right now, she would be completely naked. Not to mention, he would know her identify.

So all Lynn let out was a little howl, nothing that would attract anyone's attention or anything. The man chuckled rather loudly, and the faintest of grins crossed his face.

"I have a feeling we'll be meeting again real soon, little wolf."
