"NOT HAVING A GOOD TIME, are you?"
Lynn jerked her head when she heard Matt's voice echo again, and she let out a massive sigh while leaning her back against a brick wall. The two had taken a break from the dance floor — mostly because every time Matt inched closer to her she somehow managed to always step on his feet or elbow him in the gut.
But was it intentional or just pure klutz of her? The world may never know.
They were sitting on one of the many wooden benches that were placed against each of the brick walls that surrounded every side of the dance floor.
"It's not that I'm not having a good time," Lynn explained with an extremely gentle tone, as if one wrong word and Matt's entire exterior would crumble. "I'm just distracted, really. I'm sorry, I'm probably not that much fun to be around right now."
"You'll always be fun to be around, Lynn," Matt smiled towards Lynn, and she replied with her the corners of her lips turning in a faint one.
Then, Matt's eyes switched from staring at Lynn's and they flickered down towards her pink lips, and they lingered. Lynn could feel her heart racing, thumping so hard it could quite possibly rip right out of her chest.
Please, dear God, please do not kiss—
Lynn was interrupted in her own thoughts as Matt suddenly leaned forward. He placed his rather dry lips onto Lynn's with in awkward placement and almost immediately; the boy tried to swipe his tongue against Lynn's lips.
She merely kissed back for a second, probably even half a second, before she jerked backwards. Lynn lowered her face so he wouldn't see the embarrassed and slightly frightened expression she had crossing it, and she was pathetically scolding herself because all in all — this was her fault.
Although she thought she had been a bit honest and blunt about not having feelings for Matt, he still seemed to think something was there. Perhaps it was because she said yes to the rave date or maybe even because she actually still showed up.
"Uh, I-I'm sorry. That was — that was a huge mistake, I'm s-sorry," Matt spluttered and rambled, and Lynn sympathetically cringed up her face towards the boy.
"N-no, this is definitely my fault, I'm sorry," Lynn quickly cut off the boy from anymore of his ranting, and her eyes flickered down to her fingertips nervously fiddling around with each other. "I don't mean to lead you on or anything, it's just...I'm really not into the whole dating thing."
"I-I totally get it," Matt shrugged softly, and Lynn gently exhaled when she started to smell the sadness and embarrassment practically staining the air.
"Matt, it's definitely not you, alright? You seem like a really great guy, and you're super sweet," Lynn explained, and she platonically placed her palm on top of Matt's hand to give it a reassuring squeeze. "It's just, I never stay anywhere long enough to...be with someone."
Lynn felt a buzz in her back right pocket, and she snaked her hand from Matt's and then fished out her phone.
My Obi-Wan👻🥍
Have u heard from Scott? 9:35 pm
I can't finish the line of mountain ash, I don't have enough. 9:37 pm
I know ur on ur SUPER FUN DATE but i think we need ur help. 10:24 pm
Hello??? 10:53 pm
Lynn's expression shifted into concern when she read the several texts Stiles had sent over the past hour or so, and she couldn't believe she hadn't realized so many texts were sent to her and she hadn't seen them.
"Shit, I have to go take this, I'll be right back, okay?" Lynn spoke as quickly as possible, jumping up from her seat while glancing over to Matt, who gave a slight nod while leaning backwards on the wooden bench.
Lynn quickly dialed Scott's contact, pressing her cold phone up against her ear as it began ringing. But she could hardly even hear anything from how loud the music was, so she let a sigh escape her pink lips and then decided she would manage to take a few minutes outside.
It took only a minute to get to the outdoors, the coldness had started to fade as Spring was soon arriving. So, even though she was only in a tank-top, it wasn't too bad, and she already felt sweaty as it was from all the people inside mixed with the dancing.
"Scott? Can you just freakin' answer your best friends calls?" Lynn grumbled once she reached his voicemail, and she sighed loudly and frantically while dialing the number again. It would probably be useless, but Lynn felt more useless than usual with everyone saying she didn't need to be apart of the plan.
But Lynn's growing annoyed tension slowly came to a hault when she heard it. Not Scott answering his phone, but she could hear his phone ringtone echoing in the air. She knitted her brunette eyebrows together, tuning in on her supernatural hearing as she heard the tune echo from a few yards away.
She slowly crept towards what looked like a medium sized metal room, and she tilted her head curiously. Lynn carefully placed her fingertips on the silver door, and pushed on it lightly, it creaking so loudly as it scraped against the cement that was the floor.
Lynn's confusion was quickly replaced with worry and anxiety when she saw Scott laying on his stomach while on the ground. He was groaning and moaning, mumbling something incoherent under his breath, and she quickly gasped while racing forward.
Although the very second she dashed into the room, a sudden overwhelming feeling rushed to Lynn's head that made her dizzy. She gripped onto the metal wall for support, and pressed a hand into her temple while clasping her eyes shut. When she opened them back up, her eyes were replaced with her bright blue ones.
"Well, you're a pleasant surprise."
Lynn blinked several times as she tried adjusting to her strength, and her breathing became more spread out and heavy. Her vision cleared up for a moment, and Lynn saw an older looking woman with red hair that was cut extremely short, she couldn't quite make out anything else.
She stumbled forward as her claws were drawn out, and she tried swiping the woman but she narrowly escaped it. And then suddenly, Lynn felt the woman's hand wrap around her left arm, and then there was immediately a burning feeling erupting in her stomach.
She gasped out loudly for breathes of air, desperate for it, begging for it, and she felt her entire body being pressed against the cold, metal wall.
Lynn's eyes hovered, the bright blue or them fading into her regular ones, and they hovered down to her upper abdomen. There was a rather slender, thin blade deeply inserted through her skin, and she could already feel it — the metal had to be different than your regular old blade, because she had never felt a wound burn quite like this before.
"Although, you're just one more bloodthirsty monster werewolf I'll be putting down."
The woman didn't have to keep Lynn's body up anymore, so she let the girl slowly slip down the wall while collapsing on her side. The blade was still crumbled in her stomach, and between that and the wolfsbane flooding the room and sipping at all the oxygen, she felt as if her entire head was about to explode.
Was she really going to die like this?
"I'm not...a killer," Lynn breathed out, and she gazed over to Scott, and he looked to be completely unconscious by now.
"Your eyes say elsewise," the woman countered, and as Lynn reached a hand out in an attempt at crawling towards Scott, but the woman just simply rose her shoe to slam it right back down on Lynn's hand, causing her to whimper out in pain. "Gerald was suspicious of you, showing up in town and weird things happening. Like a white wolf appearing in the woods one night."
Lynn hissed in anger as she glared at the woman, her chest heaving and falling as anger was pouncing in and through her veins.
"Evelynn, have you ever been apart of a pack? Or have you been a weak Omega your entire life? All alone, nobody to ever care about you."
Lynn's only amount of strength right now was just how angry she was getting from this woman — her voice, her words, everything.
"I...I'm not alone," mumbled Lynn, her breath hitting the floor as her cheek rubbed against it.
"What?" The woman questioned, kicking Lynn's shoulder harshly with enough force to push her on her back.
"I said, I'm not alone!"
And just like that, Lynn's eyes blurred into that of her wolves, and her teeth rumbled through her regular ones. And she let out the loudest and strongest howl she could muster, and she could feel the ground forcibly vibrate beneath her.
And Lynn fell to the floor with every ounce of energy and strength depleted from her body. She was fighting her entire body and consciousness to stay awake, her eyelids fluttering open and closed, but she couldn't help but cave.
But just as her eyelids were falling closed, one last time, she saw the outline of the metal door being swung open.
