chapter forty three
"bitch..."

"SO, THE NEXT SET OF sacrifices are...doctors?"

Stiles dryly raised two eyebrows in his best friend's direction, mostly because Lynn seemed so utterly in her own trace to pay attention to his third rant of the day about the next set of sacrifices.

The puppy trio were currently on their way to chemistry, where they still probably had the annoying old man of a substitute since Mr. Harris is dead — missing, presumed dead.

The boys were on opposite sides of Lynn, as per usual in their protective ways, although Lynn was certain it was her protecting the dumbass' ninety nine percent of the time.

"Healers," Stiles corrected the brunette girl, and she only simply rolled her blue eyes was flashing a deadpan expression. "But you know what, Lynn, you are always right."

"You know what, Stiles, I don't think I appreciate your—" Lynn snapped jokingly in the boys direction as the three came to a halt in front of the science classroom, but she swiftly interrupted herself when her eyes landed on a not so old, fat man that had been the substitute the past few days. "—Well, shit."

"What?" Scott questioned curiously as he peeled over Lynn's shoulder, where she made a quite annoyed groaning sound while her head rolled back. "What's wrong with Ms. Blake?"

Lynn popped her jaw out furiously as she saw the woman sitting at the desk in the front of the room, scribbling down some notes on a scrap piece of paper.

"Everything," Lynn commented as her jaw clenched, a slight twitch in her upper lip as she just glared in the teachers direction.

And where did this sudden hatred come from?

Ms. Blake, or Jennifer, was saved all those nights ago when Boyd and Cora were finally released from the bank. More importantly, Derek was the one who saved her.

Derek said when he was damn near dead after the fall to the escalator, he went to the high school in a desperate attempt at finding Lynn. But then he heard about how the entire lacrosse team had headed to a meet across the state, and Jennifer had found him passed out in the parking lot.

Lynn was thankful for the woman, thankful that she brought Derek back to his apartment and thankful she kept him safe. But that was until she found out Jennifer tried to make a move on Derek, and that pissed Lynn off more than anything.

"What'd she do to you? Grade your paper poorly?" Stiles teased, but his infamous sarcastic smirk faded almost instantly when he saw the death glare that he was receiving from Lynn. "I love you."

"You're lucky I love you too, Stilinski," Lynn warned while perking up a threatening eyebrow, and then her eyes fell a few feet away towards an approaching Boyd and Isaac. "That can't be good."

Both Scott and Stiles turned around to face towards what Lynn was talking about, and right about at the same time, the two werewolves had finished their walk over in the direction.

"Derek's in danger," Isaac stated, and almost immediately, Lynn's previously amused face had shifted into instant concern. "We wanted to see if any of you wanted to help us make sure he wasn't, well, murdered."

Lynn switched between Scott and Stiles as they processed the information — trying to conceal her emotions so no one would seem to notice. She had told Derek she didn't want someone to know they were finally together, not quite yet, at least.

"The last place I want to be right now is Ms. Blake's class, so," Lynn tried as confidently as she could to not sound worried in the slightest. "I'm in."

      "We have a plan."

———

Lynn swung a leg around her slick black motorcycle as she tugged off her helmet — her brunette locks of hair quickly falling onto her shoulders and back. Currently, she was outside some random hardware store that Boyd and Isaac had sent her to for wires, which was all apart the plan they had formed to protect Derek from Kali and anything else that came their way.

She dropped her helmet onto the soft fabric on the bike, her face ever so slightly twitching as she heard a twig snap under some weight quite a few yards behind her.

Her head was jerked over her shoulder almost immediately, her blue eyes carefully scanned her surroundings, but she could hardly see anything through the obscene amount of tree's in the area.

"Derek? This some type of training exercise, hm?" Lynn couldn't help but allow a huge smirk to cross her expression, knowing that Derek was infamous for trying to surprise her in mist of training. "C'mon, Der-Bear, you can't get me again."

Lynn's little smirk started to fade a bit, and the lines under her eyes began to disappear, and a more serious expression was remaining on her face.

"Derek, if you pop out of these bushes to scare me I swear to god I'll rip your throat out," Lynn spoke up again, her voice laced with a tone of attitude, but anyone could tell there was a twinge of concern written in it. "Der—"

"—Wrong Alpha, sweetheart."

The hairs on the back of Lynn's neck immediately stuck up as she recognized the cold and harsh voice that belonged to the female Alpha — Kali. She swallowed some spit rising in the back of her throat, and instantly she readied her palms on both sides of her thighs, her knuckles nearly turning white.

"What the hell do you want?" Lynn growled in a threatening and thundering voice, her nose twitching with anxiety.

"You," Kali smiled, but there was nothing sweet about it, there was a murderous, menacing glance of it. "See, I was thinking about all the people Derek has to protect him — then realized a little detail about you."

Lynn's jaw tensed up as she saw the Alpha twins, Ethan and Aiden, slowly appear from behind the quite a few tree's. She felt as if she could've possibly taken Kali on, at least die trying, you know? But once Lynn saw the twins, she knew her fighting chances dwindled to practically nothing.

"Derek does everything in his power to protect you, why?" Kali questioned, taking a subtle few foot steps, and Lynn's eyes switched to how both of the male werewolves also tried to inch closer.

Even if she tried to run, there would be no evading them long enough to get to Derek's loft. Hell, she couldn't even try to get on her bike fast enough to get away before they probably ripped her to shreds.

"I asked you a question," Kali repeated, but instead of a curious tone as she spoke last sentence, this time was more dangerous, and annoyed. "He cares about you, doesn't he? He likes you."

"Fuck you," Lynn smiled sweetly in Kali's direction, however that only seemed to further anger the werewolf Alpha, where she hissed out with her canine fangs crawling over her lips. "Three Alpha's against little old me? Classy."

And within a split second, Aiden and Ethan darted forward towards the evolved werewolf. Her human blue eyes were replaced with the bright ones, and she bowled out with fangs protruding over her once soft and delicate lips. She intended her fingertips from being curled in tightened fists, and her manicure was replaced with vicious and dangerously sharp claws.

Aiden had approached the fastest, and instantly Lynn swiped her werewolf claws clean across the boys left cheek. He was taken aback, probably because he figured there was no way Lynn was going to fight back—but much to his shock, Evelynn Kennedy doesn't give up without a good fight.

Ethan had now taken Aiden's place, using his entire body to slam into the female werewolf's. Lynn grumbled out as she felt like every inch of air had been sucked right out of her lungs when she collided with the solid patch of cement underneath her body.

"Get her!" Screeched Kali, mostly pointing towards the stunner Aiden standing back a few feet, but as soon as he recognized Kali's powerful tone of voice, he instantly ushered towards his twin brother.

Lynn collided her right elbow straight into Aiden's nose as he reached down for the girl, and he mumbled a few swear words under his breath while holding his now gushing bloody nose. Knowing she had quite the disadvantage of staying on the ground, she jumped up using her legs and just like that, was prepared for another hit.

But unfortunately for Lynn, Kali had grown quite tired and bored of watching the Alpha twins fail at securing the evolved werewolf. The brunette Alpha had now taken several steps forward, her upper lip curled up with anger as her eyes switched between the two boys that had both somehow ended up on the grassy ground.

"Guess you can't trust some stupid teenage boys to do something for you," Kali muttered sharply, raising a single foot to knock Aiden's supportive hand on the ground, which he was using to pick himself up from the disappointing ground.

Kali flickered forward and it was as if Lynn had merely a second to arrange herself to brawl with the female Alpha—and regrettably, she wasn't fast enough. Kali lashed out first, her threatening long claws had just barely missed Lynn's chest, but that only meant that her claws dragged endlessly into Lynn's left arm.

She puddled a few feet backwards while holding her injured arm, blood instantly trickling down her usually tanned skin. Lynn gritted her teeth together while glancing back towards Kali, who had a very triumphant smirk written on her lips.

Lynn darted forward like a snake in tall grass, but Kali was much faster than evolved werewolf. The woman wrapped her thin fingers around Lynn's neck, picking her body up where her legs would just be dangling in the air. Lynn's hands instantly wound up at her neck, trying to evade the pressure that Kali was constructing on her.

"When you wake up, you'll be sorry," was the only thing Kali murmured as Lynn's air was being strictly cut off, and no matter how much she pried at Kali's fingertips—she couldn't evade them.

"Bitch..."
