"little wolf and wet dog"
"STILES! WHERE IS YOUR SCRAWNY little pale ass!"
Lynn huffed out in annoyance when she once again heard no response, and her eyes were flickering to every crook and corner of the ominous looking school. Every hallway was dark, where no lights remained on other than the moonlight seeping through the windows. She just had a bad feeling growing in the pit of her stomach, from the creepy looking shadows lurking in the school.
"Stiles! I'm not joking around, if you pop out from one of these corners I'm gonna rip your throat out, with my teeth!" Lynn's voice echoed several times throughout the hallway, and she huffed out while crossing her arms over her chest. "You're probably just back at home, all cuddled up in a soft blanket, watching Netflix, which is exactly what I should be—"
Lynn stopped dead in her tracks when her eyes landed on the open door of the principals office, with the keys Stiles had managed to steal still in the door knob. He wouldn't purposely leave the door open and the keys behind as evidence, it didn't seem like a thing Stiles would do.
So, Lynn closed her eyes to focus in on her hearing — if Stiles was still in the school, she would hear his heartbeat. She was a bit relieved the second her left ear heard a heartbeat, but that once relieved expression shifted in confusion. Two heartbeats, no, three, wait a second, there's four.
Lynn didn't know why there would be four heartbeats in one single area down the hallway to her right, so she fished her phone out of her back pocket and quickly dialed Scott while carefully walking towards where she hears the constant beats. Two were exhilarated, one was steady, and the other was slower than usual, but still had one.
It rung once before the teenager werewolf answered, but he only said one swift sentence before hanging up. "I can't talk right now!"
"Sco—shit!" Lynn grumbled once she heard the familiar ring of the call being ended, and as much as she didn't like going into an unknown situation with no backup, she was genuinely worried about Stiles. "Well, here we go."
Lynn let out a heavy breath of nervous air, and swallowed some spit in the back of her throat, then she slowly crept her way down the darkened hallway towards the heartbeats. They were getting louder and louder by the second, and that was when she realized she had made it down to the pools.
She peaked her head in this small little square of a window, only her forehead and eyes barely visible to anyone in the pool area. Her ocean blue eyes went wide as saucers as she spotted a familiar blonde — one Scott had mentioned was now a werewolf as well. The girl, Erica, was unconscious, and Lynn figured that the slow heartbeat belonged to her. Her eyes scanned the rest of the area, but she didn't see much due to the window being so incredibly small.
She sucked in a deep breath, and cracked open the door to the pools. It made an increasingly loud scratching noise as she did so, and Lynn cringed up her face.
"Scott! Scott, is that you!?"
Lynn furrowed her eyebrows as she recognized Stiles voice, but it was a bit muffled and echoey. She took a few steps into the big room, her eyes darting from Erica over to the rest of the space. She tilted her head off to the side when she finally spotted Stiles in the pool, but there was a man who had an arm wrapped over Stiles' shoulder, his face covered as he was just barely above the water.
"Stiles? Why the hell are you in the pool?" Lynn questioned obnoxiously, moving her feet carefully on the slippery ground towards the pool. She was caught off guard when Stiles started shouting and yelling unrecognizable words, splashing water with his one available hand. And Lynn only threw her arms aimlessly into the air with confusion written all over her face. "Stiles, I'm seriously going to beat your ass if you—"
Lynn, however, was swiftly cut off when a frightening screeching noise echoed throughout the pool area. Her once almost amused expression shifted into seriousness, and she could feel her heartbeat about to beat right out of her chest. She swung on her heels towards where she heard the animal's squeal, and every single breath from her lungs were sucked out in an instant when she spotted a green reptile like animal, similar to a snake but with legs, a long extending tail, and rows razor sharp teeth and even sharper claws.
"Shit," was the only word that fell from Lynn's mouth as she started to slowly peel her footsteps backwards. She was hoping if she didn't make any sudden movements, the animal shapeshifter wouldn't be threatened.
But she was wrong.
The snake like animal darted directly for her, and she turned around so she could now fully run forward. She glanced over towards Stiles, where the once unconscious looking man was now staring directly at her.
"Holy shit, it's the Alpha," Lynn thought to herself, but then was taken off guard when she felt a sudden tear on her calf, and she let out a wild growl of annoyance and pain as she dropped to the hard ground, using her elbows to gain most of the damage of the fall.
"Lynn! The water! It's afraid of the water!"
Lynn glanced up to see the animal now crawling towards her with its claws dragging against the cement — almost taunting her. She picked up her non-injured leg, and swung it right into its face with as much might as she could muster. The creature hissed out in pain, backing up a foot or so, and this gave Lynn the leverage she needed so desperately.
She jumped back to her feet in an instant, and spotted the pool that Stiles and the Alpha were in, she tucked her arms in front of her head, and dove into the cold water. The second the bleeding wound on her leg came in contact with the chlorine water, Lynn let out a whimper under water, a few bubbles making it to the surface.
She gritted her teeth through the pain and bobbled her head up to the surface, taking in a big gasp of air as if it had been minutes since her lungs had oxygen. Lynn glanced down to the tiny waves of water to see how badly the wound on her calf was, and her nose scrunched up when she saw the way her blood was already staining the once perfectly clear water by her.
Lynn kicked with her right leg instead of the injured left, and moved from one half of the pool over to the other — where Stiles and the Alpha were.
"Holy God, that's a lot of blood," Stiles mumbled out as his eyes watched the trail of bloody water from where Lynn originally jumped in towards where she swam towards them. "I think I'm going to faint."
"It's fine, I'll heal, it's just this stupid chlorine water that's making it worse," Lynn growled through her tensed jaw, and her eyes flickered over towards the quite attractive man, and they met eye contact for a moment. He has quite pretty green eyes, like really, really, pretty green eyes. "Who's the wet dog?"
"Wet dog?" The man scoffed outwards, and Lynn had to help herself to make sure she didn't let a laugh out right then and there.
"Evelynn, meet Derek Hale," Stiles started, using the one available hand he had to direct towards Lynn, who had the smallest of smirks written on her face. "Derek, this is—"
"—Little wolf?" The Alpha, Derek, had questioned, and Lynn's eyes switched back over to the man. She particularly didn't like how many people were now fully aware of Lynn's werewolf gene. She could feel her cheeks warm up in the slightest at the nickname he had originally come up with a few days ago, but tried to push her school-girl crush down.
"Wait, you two met before?" Stiles asked, his head just barely above the water, he was apparently struggling to keep Derek afloat, but Lynn had no idea why. The man's conscious, why does he still need help?
"Why aren't you swimming?" Lynn inferred, completely ignoring Stiles' comment because she didn't necessarily want to tell them she was an evolved wolf, not yet, at least. She narrowed her eyes towards Derek, and then switched over to Stiles.
"Okay, you know that lovely creature you encountered? It's venom paralyzes you from the neck down," Stiles explained quickly, and then Lynn's eyes flickered to Derek's neck, there was just a solid cut on it. "Yep, exactly, it cuts the back of your neck with its tail, and boom, you're paralyzed for hours."
"So, you've been holding him this entire time?"
"Yes, so can you please just help me," Stiles grumbled out, trying to adjust his arms on the man, but his face dipped underneath the water.
"Yes, please help him, he's going to drown me if—" Derek began, but then Stiles purposely lowered his arm so that Derek's entire head went under water for a moment, and Lynn had to stifle a laugh while placing a supportive arm underneath the man's armpit to bring him back to the surface.
"Oops," Stiles fake smiled towards Derek's direction, but the man only glared daggers at the teenager.
"I have to be honest, this is not how I saw my night going after winning the game," Lynn groaned, rolling her head backwards while she thought of the way her mother was going to be anxious of where she had been all day.
"We won?"
"No thanks to you," Lynn retorted, rolling her blue eyes rather dramatically, but then a certain amount of pride crossed her face. "You're looking at the newest member of the Beacon Hills lacrosse team."
"You play lacrosse?" Derek questioned, furrowing his dark colored eyebrows towards Lynn, his tone of voice almost seeming like he didn't quite believe her.
"Look, I'd really not want to drown you, wet dog, so don't tempt me," Lynn countered with a good mix of an actual threat and a bit of playfulness. Derek didn't seem to understand which one it was, so he clasped his lips back together.
"Yep, she's feisty alright," Stiles murmured in amusement, but then his eyes shifted over to the creature. It was just lurking in the shadows near the directly opposite pool, almost waiting for them to test it and get out of the water. "Does anyone know you're here?"
"Well, I called Scott when I heard four heartbeats instead of one, but he just hung up on me," Lynn shrugged softly, and there was slight annoyance traced in her tone of voice. "I think once they realize neither of us are answering our phones, they'll come back to the school."
"But is that before or after we've been ripped to sheds?"
