chapter eight
"I really want to kill you"

"IF WE'RE DOING A STUDY group, why didn't we just stay in the library?"

Lynn awkwardly glanced towards both Stiles and Allison, clicking her tongue on the roof of her mouth while she waited for someone to blurt out a lie. Currently, Lynn, Stiles, Allison, Lydia, and Jackson were all heading over to Scott's house in an attempt at hiding Lydia from the blood thirsty werewolves that belong in Derek's pack.

Even though Scott had tried talking Derek down, he was absolutely convinced that Lydia had to be the kanima due to the fact she failed the test — she wasn't paralyzed when that venom touched her tongue.

"Because we're meeting up with somebody else," Stiles directed, gently patting the red jacket Lydia was wearing, pursing his faint pink lips together while anxiously glancing down sideway hallways.

"Hmm, well, why don't they just meet us in the library?"

"Oh, that would've been a great idea! Too late," Stiles faked smiled in Lydia's direction.

Then Lynn draped her arm over Lydia's shoulders causally while sending her a sideway smile. "You truly are the brightest of our grade, Lydia Martin."

      "Okay, hold on—"

"—Lydia, shut up and walk," Jackson interrupted, hooking his fingertips tightly around Lydia's arm, shoving Lydia forward.

And just as Lynn leapt forward to surely break Jackson's arm in two for being so rough, Allison wrapped her fingers around Lynn's wrist, pulling her to a stop. She shook her head, and the two brunettes trailed behind the rest of the group while they made it out into the school parking lot.

They all piled into Stiles' cheap and extremely worn down Jeep, where Stiles and Lynn were up front, and Lydia, Jackson, and Allison were in the back. Lynn originally wanted to be in the back to make sure Jackson didn't try to get tough with Lydia again, but Allison insisted with the way her anger issues have been worse than usual, she should stay up front.

After about a quick ten minute drive to Scott's house, everyone carefully piled out of the Jeep and onto the side walk. Lynn casually smelled the air, because if if Derek's pack were lurking in the bushes or such, she'd be able to catch their scent.  But there wasn't anything, which seemed to calm her bones down a bit.

"If we're studying at Scott's house, then where's Scott?" Lydia asked, and Lynn was pleased to know that Stiles wasn't growing tired of her countless questions, because it surely seemed like the rest of them were.

"Meeting us here, I think, I hope," Stiles replied, the last part of his sentence almost sounded like a prayer. His eyes darted all along the street for anything suspicious, and Lynn was just about to speak up about how she didn't smell anything, but caught her tongue just in time.

"Thanks for doing this," Allison whispered towards Jackson as the three trailed a bit behind Lydia and Stiles, who had peeled open the door to Scott's house.

"I needed to talk to her, anyway."

Lynn cautiously narrowed her eyes toward Jackson for the ominous statement. She accidentally bumped into his shoulder, just close enough to separate his scent from the others. She apologized quickly with a sympathetic face as Jackson only muttered some incoherent words and took off in the house.

But then Lynn narrowed her eyes at his back, her nose twitching in the slightest. Why did he smell so angry, and upset?

Lynn tried to push off the bad feeling growing in the pit of her stomach, and took one last glance around the neighborhood before stepping into Scott's house. It seemed like an regular home, with a wide open living room, normal sized kitchen as dining area, and an upstairs as well.

The second Lynn fully stepped into the house, she didn't have any time to admire it before being startled by Stiles slamming the door behind her. Lynn furrowed her eyebrows over towards the boy, and once she saw him lock the doorknob, the second lock right above it, and then the safety chain above that, she had to cover her grinning face to make sure no one saw how amused she was.

Stiles glanced over to Lynn, once he recognized how everyone was steadily watching his funny actions. Lynn swore she bit down so hard on her bottom lip there was a metallic taste appearing in her mouth.

Jackson looked as if he was ready to rip Stiles' dramatic head off, and Allison was awkwardly tucking a piece of hair behind her ear while trying not to smile like Lynn.

When Lydia rose her eyebrows up at Stiles, he awkwardly cleared his throat. "Uh, there's been a few breakins around the neighborhood."

And if that wasn't enough, Stiles hooked his fingers around a spare chair a few feet away and tucked it under the doorknob. Allison and Lynn were trying to damn hard to keep their laughs under control, where Jackson let out the most annoyed exhale of breath possible.

"And a murder," Stiles added on, glancing over to his friends for support, but absolutely no one chimed in. "Yeah, it was bad."

Allison then nodded her head towards Jackson as secretively as possible, and he sighed rather loudly.

"Lydia, follow me, I need to talk to you for a minute."

Lydia rolled her brown eyes dramatically, "Seriously? What is going on with everyone?"

———

"Well, no matter how confident I am in my werewolf abilities, I most definitely can not take on four werewolves at one time."

Lynn swallowed some anxious spit rising in the back of her throat as she peeled back the soft white curtain of the window right beside the front door of Scott's house. It was now growing dark, where the sunlight was depleting with every spare second. Standing on the opposite side of the street was Derek and his entire pack — Isaac, Boyd, and Erica.

"Why are they just standing there!?" Stiles asked angrily, more so concerned than anything else, and it was probably due to the fact that Stiles has had the biggest crush on Lydia Martin since third freaking grade, and here she was being threatened to be killed.

"My guess is they're waiting for dark," Lynn explained, and for merely a second, her blue eyes met those of Derek's, before she dropped the curtain immediately. "Definitely waiting for dark, Derek's not dumb, he knows better than to risk being caught."

"I'm calling Scott," Allison stated with worry clear in her voice, she then glanced over to Stiles. "I can't call him on my—"

"—I know," interjected Stiles, who was already in the middle of fishing out his phone from his jacket pocket, and then he quickly tossed it over towards Allison.

She pressed her back against the wooden door, where Stiles and Lynn were on opposite sides of her — both of them periodically glancing out the window to make sure the werewolves were still outside and not trying to get in.

Allison dialed Scott's number, and Lynn only heard it ring once before he answered.

"It's me," Allison started, and then she heard Scott ask what was wrong on the other end of the line. "You need to get here now, right now."

Scott didn't need to hear anything else from Allison to be convinced that they would need his help, so the two quickly hung up after Scott explained he was already on his way.

About another half hour had passed where Jackson still had Lydia hidden away in some room, and Allison, Stiles, and Lynn were still at the entrance of Scott's house. Derek's pack had yet to even move a few inches, and Lynn was convinced they were just trying to mentally screw with them at this point.

"Oh, jeez," Stiles peeled open the curtain for what seemed like the millionth time, and let out a sigh while he ran a hand through his buzz-cut. "What are you doing?"

Lynn was snapped back into reality when she heard the concern in Stiles' voice, and she curiously knitted her eyebrows together while glancing over to Allison — who seemed to still be fiddling around with Stiles' phone.

"I think...I think I have to call my dad," Allison explained, and Lynn's face scrunched up with sympathy. She couldn't imagine having to keep her relationship secret from her family, let alone because if they found out they would murder her boyfriend.

"No, but if he finds you here, you and Scott—"

"—I know. But what are we supposed to do?" Allison countered, exhaling out a quite shaky breath. "They're not here to scare us, okay? They're here to kill Lydia."

"I got an idea, just shoot one of 'em," Stiles suggested, and Lynn flashed the boy a deadpan glance.

      "Are you serious?"

"We told Scott we could protect ourselves, so let's do it," Stiles continued, and Lynn had to hand it to them, they're pretty determined at proving the fact they can handle themselves. "Or at least give it a shot, right?"

Allison shakily agreed, adjusting the bow and arrow she had in her hand, and she tucked back the curtain again anxiously.

"I could always just go out there, save you guys some time," Lynn chimed in, switching from staring at Stiles over to Allison for both of their reactions.

"No, no, you're not doing that," Stiles immediately shook his head, and Lynn was about to say something else about how it could save time, but Stiles continued on. "Look, they don't think we're gonna fight, so if one of them gets hit, I guarantee they'll take off. So, just shoot one of 'em."

      "Which one?"

"Uh, Derek. Yeah, shoot him, preferably in the head," Stiles stated, and Lynn perked an eyebrow up at the boy, but Allison switched over to Lynn for her advice.

"You'll never be able to get Derek, too fast and too strong, you gotta aim for one of the Beta's, they're new, they probably still don't know half their abilities," Lynn explained rather quickly, and Allison nodded along with every word.

"Okay, uh, just shoot one of the other three, then," Stiles added, but then both Allison and Lynn switched over to Stiles.

      "You mean two?"

"No, I mean three," Stiles shook his head repeatedly, and he yanked back the curtain once more, where as Lynn did the exact same. "Where the hell is Isaac?"

"Shit," Lynn mumbled, and just as soon as she was about to turn on her heel and run towards the backdoor, where Isaac would surely appear from, she was interrupted when an entire force shoved her to the ground. "Shit!"

Lynn hissed when her back was slammed to the hard flooring, but she recovered quicker than what Isaac expected. His lanky body was currently on top of Lynn's, so she took her available chance and collided a knee straight into Isaac's stomach, and he groaned out while falling over to the side. Lynn immediately jumped from the ground — knowing that staying on the floor would only bring her a disadvantage.

"I thought you said you'd love to see me drop your ass to the ground?" Lynn taunted, flashing Isaac a very teasing smirk.

Within a second, Isaac's once blue eyes shifted into the supernatural bright yellow, and just like his, Lynn's turned — but her shining blue ones instead. Isaac let out a rather loud growl, and Lynn's once amused face shifted into seriousness.

Now fully transformed, Isaac rushed forward towards the brunette girl, but she simply jumped out of the way before he had another opportunity to bring her down to the ground. Lynn didn't want to fully shift into her wolf status, not in front of everyone here, so she simply extended her claws and her sharp teeth, but that was all.

Lynn let out a mighty howl, and raced forward to slash her sharp claws towards Isaac — missing the first time, but the second, she ended up making two large cuts on his right forearm from her index and middle finger. Isaac let out a hiss of annoyance, and then tried his best at clawing Lynn, but she hooked her hand around his slim wrist, and then grabbed a fistful of shirt, easily picking him up to slam him against the wall.

Lynn made a mental note to make sure she apologized to Scott's mother for breaking the pretty picture frame that she just crammed Isaac into, making it shatter to splitters to the ground, but she had other things at hand to keep her busy.

Isaac took a second to recover, being on all fours while his hands formed into tight fists. There was even more anger written in his eyes, and he growled once more while glancing over his shoulder at Lynn.

"You can just leave, we don't have to fight," Lynn warned, her head tilted to the side a bit, but there was a threat recognizable in her voice.

"I would, but now I really want to kill you," Isaac countered, and he hooked his fingers around a piece of the now broken wood — just a small sliver of it.

He immediately jumped up from the ground and aimed the wood straight for Lynn, but luckily she caught the fast-moving weapon in the air right before it would've hit her in her lower stomach. She annoyingly scrunched up her nose, and taunted the boy by letting a smirk cross her face.

"You didn't seriously think that was going to work, right?"

Isaac only yelled out in anger, and ran straight for Lynn, tackling her straight to the hard ground. Her back collided with carpet, most likely giving her an intense rug burn in the bottom half of her back. Her head slammed directly with the first step of the stairs, and her eyelids fluttered close only to open back up to see Isaac directly in her face.

The boy rose a tightly formed fist, but Lynn immediately jerked hers upwards and stopped before he could land the fist on her. Lynn was getting fed up with this pointless fighting, there was no way that a newly bitten werewolf like Isaac could beat a born werewolf, let alone an evolved werewolf like herself.

Lynn sent a punch straight to Isaac's left jaw with her available hand, still holding one of his fists with her other hand. She then collided her knee into his sensitive area, and he let a loud groan rumble deeply throughout his chest. Lynn then grabbed him by both of his shoulders, easily lifting the boy and she forced him against the same way where she originally broke the picture frame.

Punch after punch Lynn kept launching her white knuckled fists back and forth into Isaac's face — she wasn't sure why she wasn't stopping herself, there was a little voice in the back of her head telling, no shouting, for her to stop. The boy was unconscious by now, he wasn't going to fight back anymore.

But why wasn't she stopping?

She flashed her brightened, dark blue eyes at Isaac while letting a loud and threatening growl.

"Evelynn, stop!"

Lynn wasn't stopping — she couldn't stop pulling back and slamming her fist forward. Isaac was just hanging limply and unconsciously, only being pressured against the wall by Lynn's grip on him. His face was completely bloodied over, he had a broken nose, busted bottom lip, already a black and purple eye forming, and most likely a broken jaw, to be frank.

Lynn was suddenly snapped back into reality when two strong arms wrapped around her waist and pulled her off of Isaac. Leaving his unconscious body to just fall to the ground in a heavy heaping pile of limbs.

Lynn struggled in the person's grasp, but once she was far enough away from Isaac, they had released their grip on her. She glanced over to Isaac's lifeless looking body, and she just stood there completely breathless. Lynn began to realize how badly her whole body was vibrating, so she gazed down to her hands, they were shaking as if she was hypothermic.

Her entire right fist was soaked in blood, it was already beginning to bruise with a dark purple and blue. It could've been broken, Lynn couldn't tell.

"Lynn? Are you there?"

Lynn snapped her head upwards, as if the ringing in her ears had finally drifted off into nothingness. She blinked several times, and she finally got herself under control, shoving that darkness back into the very back of her head.

"Oh my God, I didn't — I didn't mean to, I—" Lynn backed several feet away, but as she moved backwards, she had ended up bumping into Stiles.

Both Stiles and Allison were now back up front by the door, but had shock written all over their faces when they saw the damage Lynn did, and she felt tears prickling the back of her eyes.

And they looked scared of her.
