04. waiting for us

"It can't be that terrible, Anne," Diana tells him.

"I'm a monstrosity, girls." If you want to talk about a monstrosity, I think I am far ahead of you. "Better forget me now. I never want to put them through this humiliation."

"You better take off your hat," I asked him. Anne did what we asked of her and we were surprised to see her hair.

His hair was above his ears, it was not well adjusted. Some were longer than others.

I took off the red ribbon that was decorating my hair, strands of hair fell on my face. I walked over to Anne and began to tie the ribbon in her hair to finally tie a bow on it.

"Take good care of that tape. My twin gave it to me." Anne smiled at my gesture.

"Are you already remembering?" Diana asked me with a mixture of surprise and sadness.

"Oh yes yes." I lied. "But not much, I just remembered that moment."

Diana nodded.

I linked my arm with Anne's, determined not to leave her. Diana entered first, we were walking with slow steps and everyone looked at us. They ushered us through the crowd, but I was stunned to see that handsome boy. I hadn't seen it in class, it must be new.

He had his gaze on Anne, but then he laid it on me. Causing a few cramps in my stomach.

"You came back," Anne murmured to the boy, causing him to avert his gaze and return it to Anne.

"Hello." I greeted him.

"There is no gold." Anne hastened to say. So this must be Gilbert Blythe.

"I know. I didn't come back for that. I am delighted to see you." Anne said nothing more, but then she made a gesture as if she remembered something.

"Oh yes, this is Aphrodite Kim. She is a distant cousin of Diana." He introduced me, I extended my hand to him and he accepted it, but instead of shaking it; He turned her over and kissed my knuckles.

Oh my God, I felt in paradise for a few seconds.

"It's nice to meet you," he said, spreading our hands. I came out of my trance and straightened my hair. "I'm Gilbert, Gilbert Blythe."

Before I could answer him, he heard how they opened and the door. Professor Philips had already arrived.

"Open your books to page 20."

Each one went to their respective position. I opened page twenty.

"I see we have a new boy in the class," said the teacher, approaching our desk. "Are you sitting in the right place, young man?"

"Of course it is, Professor. Your hair does not define gender. I think it looks perfect the way it is," I said, getting up from my seat. "Besides, you have long hair to be a man. If it weren't for that mustache, I'd even think you're a woman."

I assure you that I do not regret anything, but my feet do not agree and neither do my hands. They hurt me so much that I received it from that disgusting man, I could not hold the chalk well because they hurt so much. My hands seemed to be on fire as if instead of having the gift of nature, I had the gift of fire.

My feet were tired from standing so much. The idiot —after he stroked my hands— sent me to the corner of the classroom and to copy from there.

But, I would put up with anything for my friends.
