"YOU GOT ROPE?" JOHN B ASKED FROM THE DRIVER'S SEAT.Β They were on their way back to the Crain house, this time with Sarah and a lot more equipment so that they could explore the well. It was dark, which made it all the more scary to sneak onto a property that belonged to a potential axe murderer.

Pope nodded, scanning the floor of the van to confirm. "Got it."

"Grappling hook?" the Routledge boy questioned, causing Bree to furrow her eyebrows. What the hell would they need a grappling hook for? They were not trying to catch the Joker.

"We don't have a grappling hook," she answered for the Heyward boy after checking to see if they actually did have one. They did not. "We're not Batman."

They continued to check off the items that they would need, some that they probably wouldn't need like JJ's ping-pong paddle that he insisted on bringing for the mosquitoes. As they pulled up to the residence, John B clapped his hands together. "We're ready. Let's go get rich, guys."

"Hell, yeah. Let's go," Kie muttered as the brunette boy walked around and opened the door for them.Β

"Hey, hey, hey," he stopped them before they could climb out of the car, and they got a little worried at the serious look on his face. "I wanna say thank you, guys. Seriously. It means a lot to me that you're here tonight."

As JJ and Bree cringed at how cheesy he was being, Kie nodded. "Always."

"Of course, man," Pope added before reaching over to do some weird handshake with his friend. Then, the Routledge boy made eye contact with his girlfriend, and they smiled at each other.

"All right, we done with this circle jerk?" the Maybank boy quizzed, throwing the rope around his shoulder as the Callaway girl got the urge to puke at the couple and how sweet they were. "Can we go do this?"

In response, they all just began climbing out of the van eagerly while Pope said, "Let's get that wheat in the water."

"Weed? I'm up for weed," the blonde boy exclaimed, exiting the vehicle right behind the brunette girl, causing her to just roll her eyes at him and face palm.

"Wheat," the Heyward boy corrected, glaring at him. "I said wheat."

JJ hopped over the wall first before turning around and helping Bree down as the rest of the group followed the pair. They crept toward the house as quietly as they possibly could just in case Mrs. Crain has super-hearing or something. All of a sudden, a light came on, shining right at them.

"Shit," they all exclaimed in a whisper, and the Maybank boy pulled the Callaway down into the bushes with everyone else so they wouldn't be seen if anyone came out. Kie told them, "Flashlights. Flashlights."

For some reason, the boys were failing at the very simple task of turning off their flashlights. JJ yelled, "It's on strobe!" Finally, they got the lights off and calmed down, waiting for the light to go out.

"Okay, so she has motion sensor lights," Pope pointed out, as if that fact wasn't extremely obvious since the lights were just activated when there was motion.

The blonde boy next to him looked down at the ground in thought, and they all prepared themselves for what was about to come out of his mouth. "We could, uh...move really slowly, maybe?"

"What?" Bree questioned, looking at him in confusion as the rest of them furrowed their eyebrows. "That's not how that works."

"Oh, shit. Let's throw a rock at it," John B suggested.Β

That was a horrible idea as well. How would that help them in any way, shape, or form? Kie groaned with a sarcastic smile. "That's a really good idea, actually. Let the axe murderer know that we're here."

"You guys have a better idea?" the brunette boy questioned, shooting all of them a glare.

The other girls nodded along when the Carrera girl replied to him, "Literally anything but that."

"What about the breaker? In the circuit box on the porch," Sarah offered, and they all raised their eyebrows at her in interest and question about how she knew that. "We used to play hide-and-seek here as kids. And if we were brave enough, we'd go all the way up to the porch. Remember, Bree?"

"Oh, yeah. I've seen the box," the brunette girl remembered, thinking back to those times and vaguely recalling seeing the circuit box against one of the walls on the porch.

John B shook his head, quickly shutting down her proposal when his girlfriend looked at him with a pleading look. "No, no. Y'all are not going in the house alone."

"Yeah, that's not happening," the blonde boy agreed, glancing to the Callaway girl by his side. "Crain chops people into pieces."

"If you believe that, but she's like what, 85?" the Cameron girl pointed out, and she had a point. How much damage could a lady that old possibly do? That's probably what Hansel and Gretel said, though.

JJ shrugged, "Yeah, something like that."

"She's probably barely still kicking," Bree told him, trying to convince him to be okay with letting her go and assuring him that she would be completely fine.

"Here," Kie announced, getting ready to stand up with the other two females so that they were all together. "I'll go with you."

The boys seemed to be okay with that since they were evenly split up. As the girls climbed to their feet, still crouching in the bushes, Pope said, "Okay, we'll wait for your signal."

"Okay, cool," Sarah replied.

"Hey!" the Routledge boy whisper-yelled, aiming toward his girlfriend, but all of them turned around to look at him, knowing he was about to be all boyfriend-like. He sighed, "Be safe."

The blonde girl nodded at him before assuring him, "We will."Β

As they left, Bree could hear JJ and Pope making fun of their best friend for being so cheesy and not wanting his girlfriend to die. The girls pushed their way through the vines and the tall grass, and Sarah said, "She must have a generator plugged into the main power supply."

"Oh, my God," the Callaway girl mumbled as she kept getting hit by flying branches. "She needs to hire someone to clean this up. How is anyone supposed to sneak in and cut off her power if they have to trek through this jungle?"

"Sh," Sarah shushed her as they began to climb up the stairs. They got to the circuit box, and Kie opened it, only to be let down by what they found.

Bree gasped softly as she stared at the open box. "Where are the breakers?"

"What is this?" the Carrera girl muttered, and her eyes shifted upwards and followed the pipe and the wires that lead inside the house. Sarah and Bree followed her gaze and internally groaned. "Shit. It goes inside."

Silently, the brunette opened both doors leading into the house, and her friends followed her as she stepped inside. Their eyes scanned the room carefully, and a sudden sound came, causing them to jump. They exhaled in relief when they realized it was just a cat though.

Kie pointed up at the ceiling, and the Cameron girl lifted her flashlight so that they could continue to follow the piping that came from outside. They chuckled softly when they turned the corner and saw the breaker box.

The girls flinched as the raven-haired girl flipped the switch and it made a really loud noise. However, they did see the light outside go out, so that was good.

All of a sudden, a whirring noise came from behind them, causing them to gasp. As she turned off the flashlight and backed against the wall, Sarah whispered, "Shit."

It went quiet for a moment, and Bree listened carefully for any other noises or a sign that it was safe to leave. She froze when she heard shuffling and thumping that sounded like someone was coming down the stairs.

"Fuck."

The footsteps got closer and closer, no longer on the stairs which meant that Mrs. Crain was on the same floor with them. As they heard her turn the corner that they were at, Kie and Bree had their hands clamped to their mouths while Sarah just stared at her in shock. Luckily for them, she seemed to be blind. Unluckily for them, she seemed to also have really good hearing.

"I can hear you, Leon," the woman called into the house, and her voice was bone-chilling. "I've been waiting all night." As she said that, she whipped around, and her terrifying face was illuminated by a light.

"Go! Go!" Kie whimpered when she realized they had been caught. She followed the other two down the hallway as they sprinted as fast as they could.

They ran into a room, and somehow, they got split up. Sarah went one way while the Callaway girl followed the Carrera girl into another room. Unfortunately, that led to a dead end other than a door that had about ten different locks on it and a crap ton of boards.

As Bree tried to open it, the curly-haired girl urged with a panicked voice, "Come on, come on, come on." They were both panting, but their gasps turned to screams when the old lady came up behind them with a very sharp fire poker in hand.

She was blind, so her aim was shit. However, if she kept swinging like that, she was bound to hit one of them, so they just backed up into a corner. Suddenly, Sarah came up behind Crain and grabbed the poker, throwing it somewhere else before grabbing their hands.

"Come on, this way!" she told them, leading them into a room and locking the door behind them. It didn't do much good because the lady began swinging at the door with the poker, tearing holes in it as she screeched. The blonde backed them up and pushed them toward a door. "This way. It leads under the house."

"Guys!" Bree yelled as they finally got to where the boys were, lowering John B down the well.

Pope looked up at them in confusion. "Woah, what's going on?"

"Mrs. Crain. She's up there!" Kie explained through a yell. "She tried to kill us with a fire poker. We gotta go. We locked her in the parlor, but we gotta go."

"Okay," Pope muttered, and they all leaned over the side of the well and stared down into the darkness below them that the Routledge boy was lost in.

JJ called, "John B, get back on, man!" They all grabbed the rope, and Pope counted down. When they pulled, however, something happened, and they all collapsed on top of each other and tumbled to the ground.

They crawled to the edge again. "Where the hell is he? Guys, sh!" They heard the brunette boy yell something, but it was muffled by the distance. So, they couldn't make it out.

"Yo, he's drowning," Kie assumed because it didn't exactly sound good. They scrambled back up and grabbed the rope again. "Hey, John B! Get back on the rope. We're gonna pull you back up, okay?"

The grunted as they pulled, and they could feel him getting closer and closer to the top of the well. The sound of a gunshot interrupted them. The girl screamed since they were the closest to it and whipped around to see where it came from. Startled, they released the rope a little before getting ahold of it again and hearing John B shout.

Letting go of the rope and yelling to John B to pull himself up, JJ, Bree, and Pope dove onto the ground to avoid getting shot while the other two girls hid behind a wall. At the sound of another gunshot, the blonde boy pulled the brunette girl up, and the rest of the group followed them just as the Routledge boy's hand appeared from the well.

"Can we go now?" the Maybank asked after the ran through the garden and hopped over the wall. They could hear the brunette boy on their tail and smiled.

JJ started the car with the Callaway girl in the passenger seat just at John B hopped over the wall. They began pulling out as Pope exclaimed, "Why are we always getting shot at?"

"Come on, John B!" Kie yelled to the boy. "Run!"

He rolled into the moving vehicle, and they all gasped when they saw that he was covered head-to-toe in mud. JJ laughed out, "Oh, my God! Are you okay? Are you shot?"

"I think I'd know if I was shot, right?" the Carrera girl questioned, feeling around her body for wounds, and they all followed her example.

Pope gaped at the Routledge boy. "You look disgusting."

"God, you smell like ass!"

"What the hell just happened?"

JJ smiled, glancing at Bree next to him as she grinned back. "All-time Pogue Hall of Fame, baby."

"Hell yeah," she confirmed, still panting from all the running they did. "That bitch was possessed."

"That bitch can't aim," the Cameron girl added.

Pope breathed out, "How does she move that fast?"

"No, seriously," the brunette girl agreed, nodding her head and turning it to look at him. It was crazy how fast that old lady was and how crazy. No wonder people think she killed her husband. She probably did.

While they kept talking about her, John B pulled something muddy out of his pocket and wiped it off. Kie furrowed her eyebrows. "What is that?"

"No, you didn't," Sarah said, and everyone's eyes widened. Bree whipped around in her seat and almost screamed when she saw what he was holding.

He smiled, "We did it, baby!"

The gold.
