FIRST, I'D LIKE TO SAY THANK YOU!

To both participants and spectators, I really can't thank you enough. I've always wanted to host a graphic war, so I decided to spend my summer break entirely dedicated to this event. I spent a month planning everything out, then creating illustrations and graphics to execute those plans. I was incredibly nervous to finally publish this book. 

I genuinely did not expect this many people to check out the "Food Fight" and consider participating. I was expecting this book to just fall completely flat on its face, but I'm so relieved all the preparation and work was worth it. 

When I published the "Final Standings", I just felt this indescribable wave of relief and gratefulness. I literally threw myself onto my bed and celebrated with my stuffed animals. I'm still in disbelief that this graphic war was possible, and that's all thanks to everyone who supported this book! 

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

NOW, ORIGINALLY, THE "AFTERMATH" WAS PLANNED TO BE JUST ONE CHAPTER. 

However, I ended up having a lot more content to share than I expected, so the "Aftermath" will be split into four parts/chapters! This chapter is the first part, which will simply recap the "Food Fight" rounds! 

We'll be looking back at the top three entries from each round! And just for fun, I'll be throwing in my personal favorite entries, along with "Fan Favorite" entries!

I personally really like this prompt! I think there are a lot of possible ways to fulfill this prompt, and besides the prompt requirements, there really aren't any boundaries or limits to what you could design! And that was pretty much the intention of this round's prompt: to make things comfortable and to give the participants lots of freedom!

I think this prompt seemed the most fun! (But maybe I'm wrong on that?) I wanted the Food Fighters to incorporate parts of themselves into their entries, their favorite foods to be exact. I didn't expect so many entries to include hand-drawn illustrations, but it was a pleasant surprise! It really showed how talented the Food Fighters are!

There were many different versions of this prompt before I settled on its final format, but the Sweet VS Savory concept was the main inspiration behind this prompt! In one of the prompt's earlier versions, each Food Fighter and their opponent would recieve the same base (designed by me), but I scrapped that idea, since I thought it was a bit limiting creativity-wise, and it didn't relate enough to food. I'm satisfied with the official prompt, and I loved seeing each Food Fighter's interpretation of the fictional food businesses!

I made this prompt with the idea that it would be partially determined by the Food Fighters themselves. Similarly to Round 2's prompt, I wanted their Food Fighter Profiles to play a significant role in this prompt. Many graphic wars ask the participants to share their design strengths and weaknesses, but I've never seen any prompts actually challenge and experiment with them. This prompt was my own experiment with challenging the Food Fighters and hopefully helping them try new things!

HOW HAVE THE RANKINGS CHANGED THROUGHOUT THE WAR?

Now, this was a very last-minute idea- I thought it'd be interesting to make a little leaderboard to look back on the rankings from each round. It's interesting to see how the rankings changed throughout the war!

ARE YOU CURIOUS ABOUT THE FOOD FIGHTERS' EXPERIENCES?

This chapter was pretty short and simply about my own personal thoughts and reflections, but what about the Food Fighters themselves? Well, stay tuned for the next few parts of the "Aftermath"! We'll be hearing all about their experiences in the "Food Fight" and even some design/editing advice from them!
