HER EYES ROAMED OVER THE OLD abandoned Barn, crossing her arms over her chest as her throat seems to tighten. Dick had told her that, as the redhead had been still sleeping after the accident in that old house, they had found the barn and began a little training. And now she had to join, even as fear crept up inside her body and lingered there in her mind. Nervous her eyes found Kory's and the magenta haired woman nodded towards her.

"Why the long face Daphne?" Kory asked her and the redhead nibbled on her bottom lip, teeth almost drawing blood.

"It's not that bad. And don't worry everyone still needs to train," the magenta haired woman added with a soft smile and patted her back. But her words didn't calm her racing heart, not if she was aware of how dangerous she could be.

She didn't want to lose control again.

"Kory is right," Garfield suddenly piped up a big grin on his lips, eyes sparkling and Daphne calmed down just a little bit. "That's why we are here Daphne." Her blue orbs found the dark brown ones of Dick. "So what is your power?" This time the question came from Rachel and the redhead turned towards the girl.

This girl that somehow seemed to be linked with her.

The girl that was a trigger for her, because Daphne noticed how her powers always lost control when the lilac haired girl used her own powers. Those dark powers that were a walking nightmare. "Well," Daphne started and cleared her throat. "I don't know to be honest," she added carefully and she hated the way the others watched her.

"Why?"

"Because I can't remember everything. I-," she struggled to find words. It never bothered her that she did not remember her past, but now it stirred something inside her that she couldn't remember anything. "Daphne kind of lost her memories so she also doesn't know were her powers come from," Dick said instead and she was grateful that he spoke for her at that moment.

"We can show you our powers first if you want," Garfield piped up almost jumping up and down. He got a few fond smiles from the others at his excitement. "Can I start? Pretty please?" Dick looked at the boy with a slight sigh before he moved his hand towards Garfield. "Go ahead," Grayson mumbled and grinning and jumping Garfield walked towards a few haystacks at the side as he disappeared behind them. Confused Daphne furrowed her eyebrows together. "What is he doing?" She asked the others as she noticed that Garfield laid his clothes up in the hay. Only his hand could be seen as he laid his things on top.

"Wait is he naked? Why is he naked?" Kory grinned at her. "Just watch," she told her pointing towards the haystack.

Suddenly a growl could be heard and a green tiger climbed up on the stack, roaring towards the others. Daphne's blue eyes widened at the sight already knowing that this tiger was in fact Garfield. "Holy fuck," Daphne whispered as she stared at the boy. "He got it from the flu." Her head turned towards Rachel as the girl talked to her. "This is insane," the redhead added as Garfield disappeared behind the stack again.

"Don't forget to put your clothes back on Garfield," Kory yelled towards the green-haired boy. "We don't want to see again what happened last time," she added and a laugh escaped Dick at her words. Even Rachel had to smile.

Next up Kory showed her powers and Daphne watched with awe how the magenta haired female destroyed the truck further behind even more. Her body was glowing and as she was finished she turned around with a big smile on her lips. "I was even better than last time," she commented and a chuckle escaped Rachel. Dick turned towards Daphne, holding her gaze and she knew what he was asking her without even opening his mouth.

"Now you can show us your power Daphne," Garfield said with a grinning face but her blue orbs never left the ones of Grayson. "Are you sure you wanna try?"

His voice sounded softer than usual and pressing her lips tightly together, the redhead nodded. "Yeah I wanna try," she told them and took a few steps forward. She licked her lips nervously, feeling the burning eyes from the others behind her, watching her every move.

Pushing her shoulders back her gaze landed on the truck again that was already almost destroyed by Kory but the redhead didn't want to burn this barn down to its last pieces so the haystacks were no option. Daphne closed her eyes for a second, taking in a deep breath and focusing on this fire inside her that spread through her whole body. For the first time; even when she was more than nervous, the redhead was ready to use her power. To finally release it after her own will.

But as she stood there trying to find this tingling pulsing fire inside her, she felt absolutely nothing.

After a while, it was the same feeling again, like something stopped her from reaching this flame inside her, and frustration was slowly bubbling on her surface. "It's not working," she finally said, anger laced in her words, yet she didn't turn around.

"That's okay. We can train later again," she heard Dick say and Daphne turned around. She walked towards them and Kory nudged her with her shoulder to cheer her up. But Daphne felt a bit disappointed that she couldn't use her powers on her own will. 

"Come on I wanna go shopping for new clothes. I can't stand this outfit any longer."

Shopping had been more fun than Daphne would have thought and thankfully she could change into her new clothes after they arrived at the motel again. It was good to wear something else than her other clothes and she also brought a bag to put her things in.

After Daphne had checked up on Garfield she saw how Kory made her way to the liquor store and the redhead just shook her head softly at that. She knew that Kory would probably ask her to join her to drink some alcohol; she would probably also ask Dick to join them but even so, the redhead knew that drinking would make her thoughts worse.

And she didn't need that right now.

So, the redhead stayed in her room, grabbing some book that someone had left here probably some time ago and made herself comfortable on the bed.

The book about adventures was even better than Daphne had thought and the redhead lost track of time, too focused on the words written down on those pages as a noise made her look up. Confused Daphne halted for a second, eyes roaming over the room as she heard the noise again, this time noticing that it came from behind the door. Carefully the redhead sat up, being quiet the whole time to listen if the noise could be heard again.

It did, and even as something inside her screamed at her not to open this damn door Daphne walked towards it anyway. Like it was pulling her to it.

Slowly she turned the handle and opened the door, peeking out carefully to look around.

But the hallway was just dark and quiet, nothing could be heard from it and Daphne tried not to furrow her brows together. Something was wrong. Very wrong. She could feel it creeping up her bones and her mind to settle there and her heart rate speeds up. Biting her lips the redhead took a step back, wanting to close the door as suddenly she heard it again.

It wasn't so loud this time, more like a faint scratching sound coming from further outside.

Without thinking Daphne walked out of the room, her eyes strained on something at the end of the hallway. The only thing she could hear was the pounding of her heart against her rib-cage as she rounded the corner.

Daphne's eyes widened as they landed on the body that laid there on the floor and before a gasp or a scream could leave her lips something latched itself on her throat pulling her back into the dark hallway.
