Unexpected Allies
The cool forest air filled my nostrils as I raised my head high, trying to catch any whiff of the scent I was hunting. My companion, Blue, walked beside me, her steps light and graceful. "Do you find anything?" she asked, her voice tinged with both curiosity and concern.
With a sigh, I shook my head, feeling the frustration build. "I can detect a very, very strange scent, but it's too faint to follow," I replied, my white tail lashing in irritation. The elusive smell teased my senses like a whisper on the wind.
Blue sniffed the ground, her snout close to the damp earth. "Perhaps I can try," she offered, her talons gleaming as she lowered herself to better follow the trails.
I huffed in disagreement, feeling a spike of impatience. Just then, an unmistakable scent hit me, sharp and pungent—the scent of Spider-Man. He was the figure who had almost killed Blue before. The memory stirred a simmering rage within me. "I found him!" I hissed, my voice low and venomous.
Without a second thought, I launched myself forward, my body instantly cloaking itself in invisibility. "Wait, wait, Indy, don't go! Wait!" Blue's voice echoed behind me, a frantic plea that went unheard as I was already on the chase.
My target moved swiftly, leading me through the dense forest until we reached the edge of a tree line. His path concluded at a shimmering, orange-hued portal, swirling with frenetic energy. Hidden in the shadows, I stopped and watched as he landed. He looked around cautiously, the red-rimmed eyes of his mask narrowing as if searching for something—or someone.
The Spider-Man stepped into the portal, but the swirling gateway remained open. A cunning smile tugged at my lips. Lowering myself, I clamped my teeth gently around Blue's scruff and, despite her protest, I leaped into the portal after him.
A howl escaped Blue as darkness enveloped us, and the world we knew disappeared behind us. We were heading into the unknown, but I was driven by a singular, burning purpose—this time, I would make sure Spider-Man wouldn't escape.

When I regained consciousness, a sharp pain shot up my leg, causing a hiss to escape my lips. I realized my leg was awkwardly bent beneath me. Gritting my teeth, I forced myself to stand as quickly as possible, despite the injury. At my side, Blue groaned softly, rubbing her head as she began to wake up.
"Where are we?" she moaned, her voice filled with confusion.
I looked around, taking in our surroundings. The scene was unlike anything I'd ever seen on Isla Nublar. Towering skyscrapers loomed over us, their windows reflecting a blinding array of neon lights. This was a human city, but it had an uncanny, futuristic feel to it, miles away from the primitive camps and outposts I'd known.
"This is not a human outpost where they study dinosaurs, that's for sure," I said through gritted teeth as the pain in my leg flared up again. I leaned down to nibble at the strain, trying to soothe it.
Just then, something caught my eye—a very, very small red and blue figure was staring up at me from foot height. "W-what are you?" he stammered, his voice tiny but clear in the stillness around us.
Curiosity piqued, I leaned closer, and he yelped in surprise but didn't flee, defying my expectations. Up close, he looked like one of those 'Lego' toys the human children would bring to the park.
"I'm Y/N," I introduced myself, curling my tail around to gesture at Blue, who had also noticed the small figure. Her head was cocked to the side, and her yellow eyes were narrowed in concentration.
"This," I continued, "is Blue. Now, who are you?" My tone was firm but not unfriendly, as I tried to make sense of this bizarre situation.
The small figure seemed to gather his courage before responding. I waited, a mix of pain and curiosity swirling within me as the lights of the futuristic city flickered around us. This was just the beginning of a story that promised to be like no other we had ever embarked on.
"I'm Spider-Man," the little Lego figure declared proudly, his tiny chest puffing out with an air of confidence. After a brief pause, his expression shifted to one of contemplation. "And you are in the main quarters of the Spider Society. I need to take you to the boss, Spider himself. He won't be thrilled to find an uninvited stranger in our midst," he added with a resigned sigh. "Well, come on then."
Before I could react, Spider-Man leaped onto my head, causing me to yelp in surprise. I nearly stepped on my own tail in the process. Blue, ever protective, bared her teeth and hissed, a low, menacing sound that echoed in the futuristic alley.
"Get off her now," Blue warned, her eyes narrowed dangerously.
But I shook my head at her, trying to keep the situation under control. The tiny Spider-Man clung to me with his web-like attachments, refusing to budge. "Nah uh, I won't. I can see better from up here anyway. Now, march!" he commanded, pointing a diminutive hand toward a peculiar building ahead. The structure spanned the distance between several hotels, its design unlike anything I had seen.
I sighed in resignation and began to move forward, each step making my leg throb. Blue followed closely behind, her presence a fierce shadow as she growled at anyone who dared to come near. We walked through the bustling streets of this strange city, the neon lights casting an otherworldly glow on our path.
We must have been quite a sight—an injured, invisible creature with a tiny, talkative figure perched on her head, and a fierce velociraptor with gleaming talons guarding the rear. The futuristic city hummed with activity around us, but all I could focus on was the growing tension and the uncertain fate that awaited us.
Blue's continued growling added a constant, underlying menace to our march, causing passersby to give us a wide berth. With every step, I wondered about the Spider Society and the mysterious "Spider" we were being led to. The journey ahead felt daunting, but I knew we couldn't turn back now.
Soon enough, we reached a raised platform where two figures stood out among the high-tech scenery. One wore a white and pink suit with a hood perched on her head, the other was taller, clad in a suit with black and red accents. My eyes narrowed, but I kept silent.
"Boss, boss, look what I found!" Lego Spider-Man announced, hopping up and down on my head with excitement. I turned visible, causing the teens to spin around and gasp in astonishment.
The man atop the raised platform turned to face us, his eyes initially bored but quickly widening in surprise when he saw me. "You," he said, a low growl in his voice as claws extended from his fingertips.
"Yes, me," I replied, narrowing my eyes further.
He glanced at Blue, who had raised her chin defiantly. "I thought you were going to kill that dinosaur," he said, waving a clawed hand at her.
Blue puffed out her chest. "Indy is not like that."
"Indy?" the man echoed, turning his gaze back to me.
I huffed, a visible show of annoyance. "That's what humans called me, so that's what Blue calls me now. Who are you? You never answered."
He sighed, a touch of exasperation in his voice. "I did. I'm Miguel O'Hara, and I told you that before."
I lashed my tail in irritation. "Then this shouldn't be such a surprise, should it?"
"Why did you follow me?" he demanded, his eyes narrowing suspiciously.
I shrugged, allowing a hint of a smirk to play on my lips. "You were interesting enough to hunt down. So here I am," I explained, glancing around at the bustling city, which had fallen unnaturally silent. Spiders of different varieties and colors were gathered around, intently listening to our conversation. I was certain they had never seen anything like us before.
"You're not welcome here. You disrupt all the timelines," Miguel declared, his hands firmly placed on his hips, exuding authority and frustration.
A spider with spiky decorations on his head scoffed and stepped forward. "And why's that, boss? She's just one fuss. Didn't you say you saw her in the scenes you're always staring at?" His voice carried a playful defiance that made me narrow my eyes at him.
"Who are you?" I demanded, scrutinizing the defiant boy.
Despite my stern tone, he smiled—a gesture I could sense more than see—and removed his mask. "I'm Hobie Brown, also known as Spider-Punk. Nice to meet you, Indy," he said, extending a hand in greeting.
I sniffed his hand cautiously before nudging it with my snout. "I don't do handshakes," I replied, my voice firm yet curious.
Miguel remained tense, his eyes tracking every movement. Hobie, however, seemed unfazed by the formalities or the tension, his demeanor as easygoing and rebellious as his spiked appearance suggested.
The unusual assembly of Spiders and the buzzing neon cityscape seemed to fade into the background as the gravity of the situation anchored us. Miguel's irritation, Hobie's nonchalance, and my and Blue's cautious presence created a complex interplay, setting the stage for what promised to be an intriguing conflict or alliance.
"Well then, I have a feeling you'll be fun," Hobie laughed, turning his warm, mischievous smile towards Blue. "You must be Blue. I'd love to show you around if the big man here allows it," he added, glancing over his shoulder at Miguel.
Miguel's eyes narrowed at me, and I could have sworn I saw a flash of red before they reverted to brown. "Fine, just not for too long," he finally said with a sigh, turning back to the orange screen in front of him.
Blue and I shared a knowing look, interpreting the tension in the room. "Yay!" cheered Lego Spider-Man, bouncing with excitement. However, I snorted and fixed him with a hard stare.
"Oh no, little one. You're staying here. I'm not a free bus ride," I hissed, reaching out with my claws to pinch him gently but firmly. He squirmed and sighed, understanding my unspoken command.
"Take her to the infirmary first," Blue interjected, her tail lashing towards my bruised, bent leg which I hadn't fully acknowledged in the rush of events. At the mention of it, pain flared up like fireworks, causing me to wince and close my eyes briefly to bear it.
Hobie nodded, his expression shifting to one of genuine concern. "Will do. This way, my ladies," he said, waving a hand towards another spanning bridge leading to the infirmary.
As we left the platform, I couldn't shake the feeling of multiple eyes tracking our movement. The assembly of Spiders watched us with a mixture of curiosity and wariness, their interest adding to the already palpable tension that hung in the air.
Each step was a reminder of my injured leg, but with Hobie's guidance and Blue's unwavering support, I remained determined to face whatever challenges lay ahead in this strange new world.
