ALTHEA TOBIN WAS A walking dichotomy; a merciless criminal that plagued the streets of Ketterdam with her fellow dregs yet all the while harbouring the power of a Grisha healer.

It was awfully ironic, as Jesper never neglected to remind her. 

How does fate design a being with the capacity to inflict so much pain, yet bless her with the power to erase it in a click of her fingers? The sharpshooter would muse as the two of them gambled their night away in the Crow Club.

I suppose I'm just a glitch in fate's design.

At least that was what Thea told him ... and herself, for that matter. She certainly believed as much.

Who in the world would neglect such a gift?

Fate had given her the power to heal and yet she went out of her way to cause as much pain as she could.

Perhaps she had her environment to blame. Ketterdam had never been a city that encouraged peace or neighbourliness. Kaz often reckoned with her that most of the people that resided there were better off hurt than healed; they did far more damage than she could ever do.

It was a battle of morality that she never allowed herself to think to hard on. She knew if she did, she'd go mad.

But, then again, perhaps she already was.

thank you for taking the time to read this book! i have been in love with the grishaverse for so freakin long and couldn't resist the urge to create a fic after the show dropped! so i hope you enjoy reading fate's design, just as much as i have writing it!
