For the past year, Veronica Taylor felt like she was in a nightmare that she could never wake up from. The constant anxiety, the fear lurking around every corner, and the whispering that followed her around town and the halls of Hawkins High like a shadow, swallowed her up whole leaving her an empty shell of who she was before November 6th, 1983.

Veronica was once known as a beautiful, intelligent, carefree, honor student with the "perfect life". She lived in a lovely, blue, two-story home with her successful parents. Her father was a notorious journalist from the Hawkins Post, and her mother was your typical stay-at-home mom who ran charity events and held a book club at their house once a week with other mothers in the neighborhood.

But now, she was known as the girl who was "kidnapped by a deranged man" while helping Joyce Byers search for her missing son. However, none of that was true—just a cover-up fabricated by the government to keep the town oblivious to the dangers that lurked in their small community. She wasn't kidnapped but instead trapped inside the upside down for days only to be rescued by Chief Hopper and Joyce. Now, she's left to grieve a false narrative wondering if she could ever truly heal if she couldn't talk about what actually happened.

Veronica simply wants to move on, but with the constant stares, pestering from her best friends—Robin and Eddie—about her wellbeing, and useless therapy sessions it seems almost impossible to feel normal again. Insert, Billy Hargrove, the new kid and Hawkins High equivalent of a "celebrity". The guy is simply no good, with rude behavior and an overbearing manly ego, but Veronica can't help but love the feeling of excitement he brings whenever she's around him. Billy was a nice distraction. He was her chance to be a normal teenager again...that is until her world turned upside down once more.

This is mainly a Eddie Munson fic. Her main love interest will be Eddie but it's a slow burn over the course of S2 - S4. The Billy Hargrove subplot is simply a subplot used for character development & provide more insight into Veronica's mental state & trauma. Just wanted to leave this little note.
