It was finally Alfie's home race. Silverstone had always held a special place in Alfie's heart, having been the first Grand Prix she attended, and now she was able to race around the circuit. It was a teyley a dream come true.

Alfie knew that she had to focus this week, after the meeting with her cousin. After what George had said, she was determined to not let Bette's comments weigh her down.

George and Alfie hasn't spoken to eachother after the dinner. George had dropped her home, before going back to his, and neither of them reached out to one another.

Friday's practise had gone quite well, and so had the morning. Alfie knew she had to keep her head down for qualifying.

She walked dinto the garage towards May, her race engineer, who told her where she needed to improve along certain points of the track.

"That's all I think." May said as she reached the bottom of the (quite small) list of improvements.

Alfie nodded, but frowned when she realised May looked slightly annoyed. "You alright?"

"Yeah, uh I was meant to tell you but I thought it would distract you, but-" she gestured to something behind her, and Alfie turned around.

"Great."

Antonio stood in the garage, examining the car. He wasn't supposed to be at Silverstone this weekend, but it was just Alfie's luck that he decided to show up when she needed her confidence more than ever.

He looked up from the car, caught eyes with Alfie and winked at her. Alfie furrowed her eyebrows and turned around swiftly. May scrunched up her face in disgust "Gross."

"Yeah."

May looked back down at her friend, "Hey, don't think about it. Have a good session."

Alfie gave May a smile before heading off to get her helmet. Unfortunately for her, she had to pass Giovinazzi on the way there, vut she refused to look at him. "Hey Grattan."

"Hi."

"Have a good session." she could practically feel the smug smirk on his face.

"Thanks."

Alfie squeezed passed him, and he watched her as she walked away.

Alfie was sat down behind the Alfa Romeo building in the paddock; head in her hands after the disappointing qualifying. Last. She had finished last. Even Nicholas had a better time than her in the Williams.

George had been right. Bette had got into her head, and now her race pace had dropped.

Footsteps approached the Grattan girl as she sat down on floor. She removed her hands from her face and looked up at the person stood before her.

"What do you want?"

"Just came to say I'm sorry for that quali." Antonio said. His response wasn't what Alfie was expecting, she thought a sarcastic comment would have been involved, but she was wrong.

"It wasn't you in the car was it." she said, in an attempt to dismiss his apology coldy.

"Still. I know what you're like when you get a bad result." There it was. The sarcastic comment.

Alfie rolled her eyes. "Right, well you've apologised so you can leave now." she said, hoping that would be it. Unfortunately, Giovinazzi didn't move. Alfie looked back up at him and gave him a confused look. "Are you... going to leave or?"

Antonio sighed and rocked backwards and forwards on his feet. "No."

Alfie raised her eyebrows and sighed. "Well then. I'll go find some other place to drown in my sorrows." She pushed herself up and was about to leave, before Antonio grabbed her elbow and pulled her back to stand In front of him.

"What are you doing?"

"Alf I-"

"Don't call me that."

"Why not? George calls you it."

"George is my best friend."

"Is he?"

The question stopped Alfie. Why was she Hesitating? Of course George was her best friend. Yes they hadn't spoken for a while... at least two weeks but they were still friends... right?

Antonio noticed her hesitation, and slipped his arm down towards her hand, where he grabbed it. Alfie looked down at their hands, confused, but before she attempted to pull her's from his, Antonio spoke.

"We're not the best of friends. That's obvious. You hate me. I took your seat. I'm an asshole."

"Glad you agree-"

"Look I just think you should know George isn't good for you."

Alfie furrowed her eyebrows. "Excuse me?"

"He's ambitious and power-driven. I garentee you he's using you to get close to big team principles."

"We've been best friends since high school, he wouldn't-"

"People change Alfie." he said firmly. Antonio gave Alfie's hand a squeeze, causing her to look back down at their hands, her mind swimming. 'Pull away you idiot' she thought. But before she could, Antonio spoke again.

"I mean, I changed after those years when we karted."

Antonio's voice snapped her head up. "You? Changed?" she rolled her eyes mockingly. "Sure." Alfie said skepticaly.

"Hey, I have. Look, what I did was a dick move. I'm aware." Alfie looked as though she was about to say something, probably a sarcastic comment, but Antonio cut her off before she could say anything, "But I learnt from what I did."

"Is this an apology? Because it's pretty cra-"

"Alfie. I just-" He sighed before giving a small smirk which made Alfie more nervous than she already was. "You may not think it, but I know what's best for you."

"You? You Antonio Giovinazzi know what's best for me? You've known me what? Five years? George has known me since we were 11 OK? He's not some cheap shot who's just going to throw me away after he's done with me." Alfie said firmly.

"You're just in denial."

The Grattan girl scoffed. "Denial. OK, sure then Mr. I know everything, what in the world is best for me hmm? Care to enlighten me?"

There was silence for a few seconds.

Those few seconds felt like years.

Antonio looked from Alfie, to George who had appeared behind her and back again. "This."

Before Alfie could react, she had been pulled into a kiss by her worst enemy.

It took a few seconds to understand what was happening until it clicked.

Alfie shoved Antonio hard pushing him away from her. There was a moment of shock before she lifted her hand and swung it hard. Right into Giovinazzi's jaw. At this point, Alfie wasn't worried about what points she would be getting on her licence, or what the media would twist the story into, all she wanted to do was hurt the man before her.

Regaining slight brain power, she turned and left, half sprinting to get away from the Italian, leaving behind a bruised, but satisfied Antonio Giovinazzi.

When Antonio looked back towards where George had stood, he saw he wasn't there anymore, having left the moment his and Alfie's lips had touched.

Antonio kissed Alfie.
Right in front of George.
