No matter how many times I hear it, the screaming always gets me going.
The screaming fans drew the attention of their favorite artists. If you really thought about it, on paper this was such a weird thing to do. You hear screaming and some chasing after a bus, you think something is wrong. To get out of the way, to seek help; but if you put thousands of people in front of a stage and let them scream, you don't bat an eye to it. Screaming is fun, you hear screaming in the bed when you hit the right spot, you scream during a horror movie, you scream when something is fun; but you don't turn that blind eye when you are in danger.
In my dressing room with ten minutes till the show started, all I heard was screaming. Even tucked away in the back where I could gather my thoughts, their voices rang through the vents and down into my room. They were chanting for their icons, for their favorite people in the whole world.
I've avoided those icons all day.
When I got to the hotel I immediately went straight to the front desk, got my key and booked it up the stairs. I didn't wait for the elevator and did not want to risk seeing them or them seeing me. My mission was a success because I didn't see a single soul that I didn't want to. After getting settled, they of course had their soundcheck and Ares instructed that I needed to come, but I can stay in my room for the time being to make sure the outfits they didn't wear at the first concert, would at least be ready for this one tonight. It was music to my ears, that just meant less time seeing everyone.
My day went by smoothly, after the long drive we arrived in the second city in New York for the trip. It was a few hours away from the previous one, but still a ways away. I didn't care for the city we were in, I just knew we were in New York. When I got to the hotel I showered, ate the biggest meal I could get and prepped for the show. I tried to push my nerves away the entire day, hoping the concert would fly by and I could ignore Hobie at all costs. I even called Shawn prior to my shower and we had a long talk. He asked about what I have been getting into and I asked about his time in Canada.
He got a full ride to the college he wanted to go to and his sister left for Paris for her second year in college. Time was going by so fast and I still felt stuck in the same boat. Minus the tour, traveling for free, getting to work with Karl Lagerfeld and being paid to do so, I still felt like with Hobie down my throat I would never have a peaceful time.
When I got to the venue, I fixed my leather tank top that cut off right above my belly button. I wanted to have a boost of confidence tonight, stand out amongst everyone and try to feel good. Feel like myself for once again. I matched the top with ripped, black jeans and a chain belt that hung on either side of my body. Combat boots that I forgot I even brought with me, spiked bracelets that almost resemble Hobie's and my hair natural tonight. I felt good, I needed to feel good. My nerves were pumping at hundred tonight, I always thought the worse was going to happen.
To distract myself, I pulled out my phone and played homescapes to pass the time. My stomach was full from the meal I had earlier, but I still munched on some peanuts they had in every dressing room for us. I just had to get through the show, once that was done and over with I wouldn't have to see them at all.
"(Y/N) I need you, please." Ares said from the other side of the door, knocking twice.
"Alright." I shouted from the other side, grabbing my bag of style tools in case an emergency happened.
I made sure I had everything I needed so I wouldn't have to come back here by myself and run into him, the hallway was already narrow as it is and the last thing I needed was that interaction. So far I managed to avoid all sorts of contact with him or anyone he was involved with, I even took my time walking around the corner in case I ran into him.
I kept my eyes down, digging through my bag for a small pair of scissors that I used to clip any strings that would cause an outfit malfunction if someone were to grab it. I barely looked up in time to smash into a broad chest, literally taking my breath away.
My heart fell to my stomach, something I wish I got used to by now but I didn't. I was met with Ozzy in a white tank top. My eyes widened as our eyes made contact, throat going dry.
"What got you in a hurry?" He questioned.
Before I was able to say anything, I heard movement to the right of me as a door opened. I turned my head slowly and saw Opium and Crass coming out of that same room Ozzy was just in. Opium smirked as Crass kept a straight face. They walked on either side of us so I was circled in almost.
Ozzy in front, Opium to my left and Crass to my right. They all stared down at me like I was at my judgment day. I hadn't faced them since finding out about what they did, but I could tell they knew.
"I think you scared her." Opium says to Ozzy as if I was a ghost.
"She is." Ozzy chuckled with deceitfulness. "Heard you were the one who spied on us yesterday."
My throat closed, hands gripping my bag before I took a deep breath, blowing steam out my nose before tipping my head back. "A-a-and? Kind of hard not to see what is going on when the punches echo down the hall."
"A-a-a." Ozzy mocked. Cocking his head side to side.
"Stop being a dick." Opium cackled beside him, Crass stayed silent and just stared with the same great intimidation he had before this all occurred.
"Think a cat got her tongue now." Ozzy scanned my face like he could see emotions bouncing off it. He was quieter before, a lot more friendlier with the little interactions we had, not he was just as evil as the others.
"Of course she is. She saw what they did to that poor girl." Opium laughs some more, studying my body language.
"She thinks she knows what we did to that poor girl. Hobie ran her off before we could show her the final touch." They continued to talk like I was their puppet, only being able to speak when they looked at me or asked a direct question. I felt the need to rip open my throat to breathe.
"I don't have to know everything, I just know you all are fucking psychotic." I coaxed, taking a step back until I felt a warm surface behind me.
"She got a lot bolder since the last time we talked." The raspy voice at the back of my head spoke up, a chill going down my spine.
Why didn't I put two and two together that he could show up at any given moment was beyond me.
I slowly turned around with wide eyes, fearing what I already knew would be there. I looked up and met eyes with those chestnut brown eyes that held nothing but hate towards me, paining me to take in. He stared down at me with a monotone expression.
"What's wrong? You look like you saw a ghost." He raised an eyebrow, that stupid smirk on his lips like he was enjoying this situation.
I didn't know what the fuck to say to him, my mouth was completely dry.
"Who is this?" Ozzy asked from behind me, making me snap around to see him staring at the back cover of my notebook.
He turned the book to show me a taped photo of me and my friend, the one who passed.
"How did you.." I grabbed my back pocket with my free hand to not drop my bag.
I didn't even feel him slide that out of my jeans.
"My guess is her lover. Do you like girls? I totally support it by the way." Ozzy said as he looked me up and down, trying to figure out what way I swung.
"My friend." I mumbled. "No, we aren't together."
"Damn."
"Give it back." I mumbled, standing in the middle of this god awful circle.
"I will if you give me a little kiss on the cheek and say I am the most amazing-"
"I'd rather pet a crocodile." I cut him off, standing my ground with my arms crossed and eyes glaring back at him.
"I don't know what type of orgy you all are about to have, but can you please get on stage first and then have fun." Ares yelled out from down the hall, making all of us turn our heads in her direction before Crass was the first to jog down the hall to Ares mumbling he had an audio problem already.
"Better get going, I heard Rico already ripped her skirt." Ozzy says quietly, giving me a half smile before the other two turn and start walking away.
"Can I have my book back?' I whispered, knowing he still has it.
Ozzy raised an eyebrow, raising both of his hands up to show he in fact does not have my notebook and began to walk backwards.
"I already did, sweets." He smirked, turning and jogging down the hallway to get on stage.
My hand slid down my jeans, going to feel my back pocket to feel when I let out a gasp. I pulled it out, realizing that large of an item was already back in my pocket without even feeling him do that. I was shocked, impressed but shocked by that.
He looked down at my book and dropped his jaw with a fake gasp, hands coming to his cheeks to belittle me as he pretended to be shocked.
"He's quick with his hands." I heard him mumble behind me, like it was demanding for me to hear.
I didn't stay to hear what he had to say, not this time, not at all. I gripped the material of the bag as tight as I could to ground me from this nightmare. I paced to the backstage and thanked the person who gave me ear plugs since I was closer this time.
I looked out from the stage to stare at the screaming fans who were awaiting the band. The adrenaline in my body started to pick up as I tried my hardest not to bob my head to the starting guitar riff, this time it was Hobie that started it off. Hobie was revealed center stage, his fingers weaving through the guitar chords as he began. Red, leather fingerless gloves were on his hands, he was completely shirtless with his signature bracelets and a new choker around his throat.
He started to sing into the mic, the crowd going crazy, spotlights came up on the others as they all started to play. My chest started to feel pained and heavy, my mind starting to ache. I tried to distract myself from that feeling and looked out towards the crowd to try and get ideas for more styles. I chuckled, you could tell who was here for the music and who was here for the band. They stuck out like a sore thumb. On any other day, I would've done the same thing; but seeing who they really are made me sick.
I turned back to the stage, arms crossed one over the other as I studied their outfits to make sure nothing was about to come off or tear. Rico was jumping around behind Hobie, bumping into Ozzy who then bumped into Crass. It was all a mess and I couldn't help but laugh at how they acted towards one another. They all kept an eye on Rico whenever they got the chance, she was their little sister and it didn't matter if it wasn't by blood.
The thought of blood started to make my head pound, making it difficult to focus when one of the guards down below was trying to get my attention to come and grab one of the hats that Crass tossed into the crowd and he got it back. It was torn, it needed to be sewed back up because he was looking at me with a pleading look. I didn't have any ill feelings towards him, I just hated who he was associated with.
Rico grabbed the hat first and brought it over to me as we met halfway, her part was over for two minutes and she needed a quick fix on the back of her outfit that I reminded her would be loose if she messed with it too much a few days ago. Her back was towards me in a split second, her hand holding onto the strings that were coming undone and it was my job to fix it, I tried, but her hands were still tainted with the blood from last night, giving myself a flashback of what I saw yesterday.
"(Y/N), you good? My part finna come back up, ya hurry?" She asks in a soft tone, surprisingly not being mean towards me as I snapped out of it and just mumbled a quick yeah. Tying the strings back up before she ran back out.
I pushed the thought aside, turning to look at Hobie who stayed in the front while playing and all I could picture was him gripping that girl's throat while Rico threatened to put a bullet in the back of her skull.
I dropped my gaze and closed my eyes for a second, trying to control my mind with its erratic thoughts. I could barely keep my eyes open, the dizziness coming over me.
I looked out towards the front stage as the audience cheered for a band that they had no clue about. They don't know these five people on the stage, singing their favorite songs and giving them a good performance, committed a crime last night. The band Spider-Band were not what they seemed to be, but to the world they were the biggest band to come out of nowhere. They had secrets, secrets that I didn't ever want to know or learn.
No one knew that those fingers strumming the strings to their favorite songs had been counting money and touching all sorts of drugs. No one knew that smile Rico has on her face right now was a facade and yesterday she was threatening to murder someone with no remorse in her voice. No one knew Hobie, the beautiful leader who sang like his vocal chords were gifted to him by the most beautiful angels; put a gun in my mouth and has been tormenting me for just seeing something by accident.
This band everyone cheered for was hired by the devil himself.
I stared at them on stage like a deer in headlights since I knew who they really were. My chest started to raise up and down in an anxiety attack brewing, my legs were aching. The screaming and hollering from the audience made my mind start to spin, I didn't hear the cheers of adoration and love; I heard the screams from that woman last night.
Everything was becoming too much for me that I didn't know if she really did scream last night or if I imagined everything.
Flashbacks were spazzing in my mind going at a hundred miles per hour. I gripped my stomach when I started to gag, trying my best to stop myself from throwing up in perfect view of the rows of fans just across from me. I could make out Ares near the bottom of the stage keeping an eye on Hobie and the rest, giving them glances and chuckling; but her eyes stayed on Ozzy the most. She was closer to me, so it wasn't hard to try and get her attention. The base from the speaker started to vibrate under my feet as I moved down the steps to try and find her, but it was like the closer I got to her the farther away she moved. Not on purpose.
I started to feel dizzy and nauseous being here, now that I was just an inch away from the front of the stage and in their line of vision I wanted to get out of here for some air. I needed air.
But it was too late when suddenly I couldn't take another step. My eyes were seeing double of everything around me. Guards, Ares, Hobie, even the fans. The last thing I remember was falling to my knees and the breath get taken out from my lungs as I collapsed.
The only thing I could remember hearing was the sound of a guitar shitting a perfect melody tune, then the world came to a halt.
