THE ATMOSPHERE ON THE MOBY DICK

was much more joyful than it used to be, and it was all because of a certain female who asked them for a lift to her home island. Whitebeard doesn't take up anyone on his ship that easily, and Y/N promised him that by the time she is on the ship, she'll definitely not cause any trouble and everyone will have a nice time. Even though Whitebeard was a little skeptical, he let her board the ship because the island she was found on was really isolated. 

But everything had conditions, he made sure to have someone keep an eye on her every time, and that someone happened to be the second division captain, Portgas D. Ace. And oh lord, this boy fell for her at first sight. He felt the sparks for the first time. He noticed himself changing slowly and falling more for her as the days passed. Since Y/N didn't have an urgency to reach her home, she went on a few adventures with the Whitebeard pirates. 

It had been a month and here they were having a campfire in the middle of the woods and Y/N was shining brighter than the fire. She added more joy to the moment and made everyone dance around it. 

"Dude, stop staring at her like a creep," Marco stated and sat next to the young lover boy, who was a little embarrassed but didn't hide his feelings. "Isn't she the best?" Ace questioned and Marco nodded in agreement, "Yeah she is. I think everyone has gotten more joyful after she showed up." 

"I feel like I can look at her all day." 

"Is she your first love? You sure fell for the wrong one." 

"What do you mean?" 

"After this island, we are dropping her off at hers. I don't think she'll stay with us any longer." 

Hearing that news left Ace speechless. He clearly wasn't ready to hear that. He hasn't even confessed yet, and how could he imagine not seeing her again once she leaves? "You need to be kidding me! I thought she enjoyed her stay, and I was in hopes that she would join the crew!" 

"She came along with us just to go to her home. Why would she join?" 

Ace ruffled his hair with frustration and stared at the ground, "What do I do?" 

"If I had to be honest, she is way out of your league. I doubt she is single." 

"You aren't making it any better for me by saying all that stuff!" Ace scolded Marco and let out a deep sigh as he looked at Y/N dancing around with everyone, "She sure is out of my league... She is perfect... Her eyes, her hair, her voice, her touch, everything about her is just perfect. Argh! Falling in love is painful!" 

"But it's a beautiful experience," Marco added. "You gonna give up this soon?" 

"I don't want to. But... I don't want to get rejected and then everything would get awkward between us."

Marco tapped Ace's back and encouraged him, "Ask her out on a date!" 

"Where will I take her? I don't have the time or the place. The next stop is her home."

"You could go explore the island or sit by the seashore with her. You aren't that dumb, I think. You will figure out something." 

"But what if what you said was true? What if she already has someone?" 

"Then just ask her to hang out with you, and then you could ask her about it during the conversation. Come on! You aren't a baby!" 

"I haven't done it before!"

"And I have been single to this date!"

"oh yeah..." 

"ACE!!!" Y/N called out. 

"Looks like the odds are in your favor. She's calling you, make some memories before she leaves!"

Marco's words motivated the young lad and he got up to run towards Y/N who had the most joyful smile on her face. "Didn't that old geezer tell you keep an eye on me? What if i am thief?" She taunted as she looked at Whitebeard who was drinking his tenth bottle of booze.

"Are you still mad at pops for that?" Ace questioned.

"Of course I am! How dare that antique call me a thief!"

"I am sure his thoughts have changed by now."

"He still looks at me with those glaring eyes. Gosh! At this point I might as well steal something if he wants to call me a thief!"

"What are you going to steal?"

"Your heart maybe." She answered and it made Ace freeze up in an instant. He didn't expect her to answer that. He wanted to say something but words didn't leave his mouth. "You- .... What-"

Y/N giggled and held his arm "You wanna go for a walk?" She asked.

"Wait! I was supposed to ask that! Not you!" Ace thought as he gave her a nod and was dragged away by Y/N.

The two left the small party and walked far away arriving at the beach which left the two of them stunned. The water running up the edge was glowing in a bright blue shade. (A/N: This happens in real life too at some places. It's called Bioluminescence."

The two of them had never seen anything like that before. "Woah!" Y/N exclaimed "It's beautiful!!!" She excitedly screamed and began to run but stumbled right at her first step due to her heels that was not a suitable footwear for sand. But Ace saved her from encountering a fall.

His left arm slipped around her waist and his right hand held her hand as he looked into her eyes. "You should watch your steps." He said while he controlled his urge to look at her lips. 

"You are here to protect me so I don't need to worry about anything." She replied and regained her balance.

"Why is she so cute!"

Ace bent down and helped her remove her heels so that she could run towards the water without falling once again. "I have noticed this several times but your hands are really soft." She stated which made him a little flustered as he got up with her heels in his hands.

"Do you want to race till there?" Y/N asked as she pointed towards the water. "The loser will... Hmm... I don't know. I just want to race."

"Sure!" Ace agreed and the two started running without a signal but who took the lead didn't matter because Ace had already made up his mind to let her win... Not because he thought that she couldn't win in a fair match but because he wanted to see her happiness winning.

"Ace!! You are going to lose!!" She teased.

"I can't do anything about it! You are just too fast for me to catch up." He lied and she won the race. He could've sworn that the smile on her face was the best.

"You should work on your speed Ace!"

"I doubt that I would still be able to catch up to you."

"Bad for you then. What's my reward for winning then?" She asked.

"You suggested the game so you should decide."

Y/N stepped closer to him which made him a bit nervous. "How about... A kiss?"

That sentence was enough to make the boy's face turn red and feel the butterflies. "What?"

"I like you"

"What?"

"I know you like me too"

"What?"

"I have liked you this entire time!!"

"WHAT?!"

His reaction made her laugh. She stepped back a little thinking she might've startled him and sat down on the same facing the wide ocean.

"I'll leave soon so I wanted to confess." She said. "I shouldn't have done it tho... Because this way it'll hurt more thinking about the fact that we can't be together. But it's hard for me to keep these feelings to myself."

"Can't you just stay on the ship with us? With... Me?" Ace spoke up and sat next to her "I like you a lot! Like seriously! You know I could stare at you all day and not get bored."

"I want to stay but I can't. I need to return to my home. I have some matters to attend to."

"So... We can't be together?"

"I don't know... It will be really selfish of me if I ask you to wait for me. "

"I can wait for you!"

"It's easier said than done."

"I truly can! Trust me! I will come for you any day from anywhere around the world! Just say yes and I will wait!"

Y/N looked at him and smiled at his determination. "You sure? It might take a day, a week, a month, a year... I don't know."

"I love you!"

"I love you too..."

Y/N called him but he never came. She couldn't stop her tears as she held the newspaper in her hand stating Ace's death. "You bastard! Fucking liar!"

Even if the love they had was hopeless but the wait made it stronger... Even if they weren't together... The small memories made it worth waiting for but fate isn't on your side everytime...
