━︎━︎━︎━︎𝐓𝐎𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐌𝐀𝐋'𝐒 engagement party and they all stood there, the people of Auradon, talking amongst one another as they awaited the King and Queen's arrival. Evie smiled at Ilaria as she told her about the interaction she'd had with Uma the night before. Uma, Harry, and Celia had all left that morning when the guards left to bring Hades back. Audrey had been brought back and apologized for everything she'd done and Ilaria couldn't help herself as her eyes immediately looked for Audrey in the crowd. "Well, at least you know she remembers you." Evie said. "And with you being the right hand to the King, you now have allies in the Isle so if you ever need to go there for some reason, you have someone to rely on."

Ilaria nodded her head. "That's very true."

"Has that gotten any better?" Evie asked, grabbing her hands.

Ilaria nodded. "Well, I'm trying not to hold a grudge. Ben and Mal have both apologized to me. I'm fine with keeping their secrets, unless it directly involves my girlfriend. I will never lie to you again. It was a horrible feeling."

Evie shrugged. "I'm kind of glad you did." Ilaria furrowed her brows. "It was either you lie or you got sent away. I need you in my life, Ria. I can't do this without you." Ilaria smiled at her and Evie smiled back before the couple exchanged a kiss. Evie turned her head, grabbing Ilaria's hand as she spotted Mal and Ben. "There they are."

Mal and Ben walked through the crowd, waving at everyone before they went up the stairs and stood over everyone. Ben went first. "Lady Mal and I want to thank you for celebrating our engagement with us today. I couldn't be prouder or happier to call you my Queen. So. . ." He raised his glass and the crowd followed, raising their own glasses, "raise your glasses. To our future Queen of Auradon."

In unison they all said, "To our Queen of Auradon!"

     "Speech, Your Special-ness!" Carlos called.

Jay added, "Speech, Your Fancy One."

Ilaria chuckled, sharing an amused look with Evie. They looked back at Mal and watched as her smile slowly started to fade. Ilaria frowned as Evie's grip tightened on her hand. "I can't." Mal said. They all gasped. "I can't be Queen of Auradon."

     "Mal," Ben softly said.

Mal turned to face him. "I can't turn my back on the Isle." She turned away from him to look at her people. "We made a decision. . . to close the barrier forever. And it was my idea. But its wrong. I've learned. . . that you can't live in fear. . . because it doesn't actually protect you from anything." She let out a choked sob, trying to hold herself together as tears filled her eyes. "You never know where the bad is gonna come from. And you never know where the heroes are gonna come from either. Without Uma and her pirates, Auradon would be gone. And without Hades. . . my father. . ." She paused as the crowd let out gasps and Evie closed her eyes, pulling Ilaria closer to her. ". . . Audrey would be gone."

She continued, "We are all capable of good and bad, no matter which side of the barrier we come from." She turned to Ben. "And that's why I can't be Queen of just Auradon. I have to be Queen of the Isle, too. And it's time that we take the barrier down forever."

Adam shook his head. "We can't do that."

Ben spared him a glance. "It's up to us, Dad." He looked at Mal and gave her a small smile before looking at the crowd. "I choose to be a King who moves forward. It's time for forgiveness. It's time for new beginnings. The barrier will come down!"

"Yes!" Carlos shouted before letting out a loud cheer. They all let out a laugh.

Ben looked at Mal. "Bring it down, Mal."

The four V.K.'s and Ilaria started the slow clap before everyone joined them in cheering and clapping for the decision. A decision that would change everything. Mal turned and motioned for her friends to join her. Carlos and Jay went running and Evie went to follow only to stop and look at Ilaria. She shot her a smile, pulling Ilaria's hand and nodding for her to join them. Ilaria's eyes widened before a smile blossomed on her face and she quickly followed after Evie.

Mal held the wand and they all stood beside her. Mal let out a breath. "To make the world a better place. . ." They joined her on the second half. "We have to do it face to face." She pointed the wand and they all stood there and watch as the barrier on the Isle shattered and the golden bridge connected their two worlds.

Ilaria smiled, grabbing Evie's hand and placing a kiss on her cheek before wrapping an arm around Mal's shoulders. "This is going to change everything." Ilaria said and the two turned their heads to look at her, wide smiles on both of their faces. "Here they come." They all watched as the Isle people hesitantly walked across the bridge. "Come on." Ilaria grabbed Mal's hand, Mal let out a laugh as she allowed Ilaria to pull her down the stiars.

They all stood there, watching as the people from the Isle approached and just before they entered Auradon they came to a stop. Mal and Ben bowed first and the rest of them followed. Uma, who was standing at the front, let out a loud cheer as they all flooded into Auradon. Music began playing as they all celebrated and Evie wrapped her arms tightly around Ilaria and Ilaria let out a loud cheerful laugh. Evie glanced over her shoulder and carefully pulled away. "Look who showed up."

Ilaria frowned and turned her head. Her body froze when she spotted her mother standing there. She glanced at Evie and Evie grabbed her hand, giving her a reassuring nod. They walked up to Iracebeth who stood there with her arms crossed, looking around the place. "If you're here to cause trouble, please just leave."

Iracebeth looked at her daughter, glancing at her and Evie's hands before meeting her eyes. "I'm not here to do anything but bask in the light."

Ilaria gave a firm nod before clenching her jaw and closing her eyes, letting out a deep breath. She looked at her mother. "After what you said to me a few months ago, I really don't want to be anywhere near you. But. . . I'm willing to try and have a relationship if you are. However, I am the King's right hand so if you even dare to try anything, I will report you."

Iracebeth stared at her for a long moment, and somewhere deep inside of her cold, black heart, there was a warmth that radiated. Finally she nodded and if Ilaria had blinked she would've missed the faint smile that pulled on her lips. "I'd like that."

Ilaria swallowed her surprise and nodded her head. She looked at Evie before clearing her throat. "Uh, Mom, this is Evie, my girlfriend."

Evie offered the woman a smile. "It's nice to meet you." She let go of Ilaria's hand and took a step forwards. "If you ever talk to my girlfriend that way ever again, I'll go back to my roots and poison you." She flashed a smile. "Welcome to Auradon." She turned and grabbed Ilaria's hand, pulling her away and Ilaria couldn't help but laugh.

"Okay, that was attractive." Ilaria hummed, wrapping her arms around Evie's shoulders.

Evie smiled. "I had to make sure she knew. We V.K.'s don't like it when the people we love get hurt."

Ilaria chuckled. "No, no we don't." She leaned forwards, pressing a passionate kiss to her lips. Evie smiled as she kissed back. Ilaria pulled away. "I love you so much."

Evie gave her another kiss. "I love you too. Come on, let's dance."

Ilaria let out a laugh. "Lead the way."

𝐈 𝐂𝐀𝐍'𝐓 𝐁𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐕𝐄 it's finished! I loved this story so much and I just love Ilaria's character and I love her relationship with Evie so much. She was such a fun person to write for and I really love the way that this story turned out. It's been so long since I wrote for Descendants and I'm truly glad I made the impulsive decision to post this story because it was so enjoyable.

I really hope you guys loved this story as much as I loved writing it. With that being said, I will not be going into the new 4th movie because. . . well, obvious reasons. This is the end of Ilaria and Evie's story and they both got the happy ending that they deserved.

Thank you guys so much for taking the time to read this story. I truly hope that you all enjoyed it. Please feel free to check out any of my other stories if you so wish. I love you all so much. With all of my love, Rayne.
