❝CHAPTER TWO❞

━︎━︎━︎━︎𝐓𝐎𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐄 day the kids from the Isle were coming, and instead of running around, creating signs, practicing music for their arrival, Ilaria was lounging on the long couch in her room. Everyone was supposed to have a roommate, but not Ilaria. They were all too scared to live with her, and that meant peace and quiet for Ilaria. Where the room had originally been decorated in pink, Ilaria had taken it upon herself to change it. All of the pink was replaced with red. The curtains covering her windows and bed frame, the blankets and pillows were donned in black and red patterns. Even the couch she was currently laying on was a deep shade of ruby red.
She held her phone in her hand, watching as it started to ring. Ilaria answered it, pressing the device to her ear as she began painting her nails. "Hello?"
"Ilaria, my darling. How are you?" Mirana's soft and sweet voice came through the other line.
"I'm alright." Ilaria sighed.
"I heard the Isle kids were coming today." Mirana hummed. "Are you not excited?"
"Not particularly." Ilaria mumbled, taking a moment to blow on her nails. "Ben has asked me to be their guide."
"That's good!"
"I'm sure it is, but I don't think I want to compare our times on the Isle, seeing as I haven't been there since I was a child." Ilaria paused, a small frown falling on her face. "Why did you take me from the Isle?"
Mirana sighed. "Darling, you already know why."
"Yeah," Ilaria mumbled. "Well, I'm sure they'll be arriving soon."
"Alright, have a nice day, darling. We'll talk more later, okay? I love you."
"I love you too." She hung up the phone. Ilaria loved her aunt. After all, she was the woman that raised her and treated her with kindness and endless love and care. However, she believed Mirana was a little over bearing, and sometimes too protective. While her aunt was a gentle soul with a soft voice, who glided everywhere like an angel, that darker side of her came out when it came to protecting Ilaria and it was almost embarrassing for the girl. She sighed, resuming her activity of painting her nails, instead of being outside as part of the welcome wagon.
Meanwhile, outside, cheers echoed from multiple students as the band played their music. Ben stood behind the band, Audrey on one side of him with Fairy Godmother on the other side. The band played happy, welcoming music as the black limousine pulled in front of them. The driver exited before walking to the back, pulling open the door and taking a step back as two figures suddenly tumbled out from the car.
"Ow! Stop!" Carlos, the son of Cruella De'Vil, cried out as his back was pressed against the asphalt, holding tightly onto a blue banket. When the band spotted the two boys, a high pitched noise came from one of the trumpets as the music suddenly stopped. "You got everything else, why do you want whatever this is?!"
Jay, the son of Jafar, stood atop him. His foot was pressed against Carlos' chest, tugging the other side of the blanket trying to rip it from the white-haired boys grasp. Evie, the daughter of the Evil Queen, and Mal, daughter of Maleficent, stepped out of the vehicle, taking a moment to glance around as the boys fought. "'Cause you want it!"
"No!" Carlos yelled.
"Give it to me!" Jay urged, pulling the blanket harder.
The band moved to the side, making a path for Fairy Godmother as she stepped forwards, holding her hands out with a wide, warm smile on her face. Mal turned her head, her eyes widening slightly when she took note of all the people. "Guys, guys, guys!" Mal hissed. "We have an audience."
In sync, Evie and Mal placed their hands on their hips. Evie had a small smile on her face while Mal was trying to not seem absolutely disgusted by all the bright colors. Jay turned to look at Fairy Godmother, his foot still on Carlos' chest and his hand still tightly holding the blanket, a stolen television tucked beneath his other arm. "Just cleaning up." He falsely smiled, letting out a small chuckle before removing his foot and yanking Carlos up from the ground.
Carlos stumbled before grasping his footing, clutching the blanket in his hands. Chocolate covered the corners of his mouth as he stared doe-eyed at the woman. Fairy Godmother smiled. "Leave it like you found it," she said in a sing-song voice. "And by that I mean just leave it."
A frown formed on Jay's face as he carelessly tossed his stolen stuff back into the car, taking the blanket from Carlos without looking at him and tossing it as well. The driver closed the door and Jay's attention immediately snagged onto Audrey. Instantly, he smirked, sauntering forwards and keeping his eyes trained on her. Shamelessly, he looked up and down at her, clearly checking her out. "Hello, foxy." He came to a stop a few feet in front of her, crossing his arms over his chest. "The name's Jay."
Audrey stared at him, completely unimpressed and disgusted. She scrunched her nose up, keeping the false smile on her face as she let out a short laugh before ending it with a sigh. Fairy Godmother instantly placed herself in front of Jay, grabbing his attention. "Welcome to Auradon Prep." She held out her hands. "I'm Fairy Godmother. Headmistress."
Instantly, Mal's eyes brightened with opportunity. "The Fairy Godmother? As in Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo?" She held her hand up, waving it like there was a wand in her hand.
Fairy Godmother nodded. "Bibbid-Bobiddi you know it!"
Mal smiled. "Yeah, I always wondered what it felt like for Cinderella, when you just appeared, out of nowhere." She let out a laugh. "With that sparkly wand and warm smile." She clasped her hands together, eyes widening slightly. "And that sparkly wand."
"That was a long time ago." Fairy Godmother dismissed. "And as I always say, 'Don't focus on the past or you'll miss the future'." She waved her hands in front of her face before spreading them out with a wide smile.
Mal's eyes widened, keeping her fake smile on her face. Finally, Ben took a step forwards. "It's so good to finally meet you all. I'm Ben."
"Prince Benjamin." Audrey corrected with a giddy smile, having stepped forwards with him. "Soon to be King."
Evie instantly stepped forwards. "You had me at prince." She did a slight curtsey with her arms. "My mom's a Queen. Which makes me a princess."
Audrey shook her head, her nose scrunched as she forced the smile on her face. "The Evil Queen has no royal status here and neither do you."
Ben let out an awkward chuckle. "This is Audrey."
"Princess Audrey," she corrected. She reached out and grabbed his hand. "His girlfriend. Right, Benny Boo?" Ben let out another awkward chuckle.
Fairy Godmother, who stood in between them, placed her hands on top of their hands. "Ben and Audrey are going to show you all around, and I'll see you tomorrow." She pushed her hands forwards, separating Ben and Audrey's hands. "The doors of wisdom are never shut!" Her smile fell as she said in a serious tone, "But the library hours are from eight to eleven. And as you may have heard, I have a little thing about curfews." She walked away and the band followed her.
Ben glanced around, a small frown pulling on his face when he noticed the absence of Ilaria. He cleared his throat, turning towards the villain kids. He stepped towards them, going for Jay first. "It is so, so, so good to finally meet you all." Jay greeted him by fist bumping his chest and smiling in amusement. He moved to Mal, holding out his hand to which she reluctantly accepted. For a moment, his speech faltered, taking a moment to stare into her eyes and quickly snapping out of it when she rose her brows.
He let go of her hand, moving to Carlos. "This is a momentous occasion, and one that I hope will go down in history. . . is that chocolate?" He placed the edge of his thumb in his mouth to rid of the chocolate substance before moving to Evie. ". . . As the day our two peoples began to heal."
"Or the day where you showed four peoples where the bathrooms are." Mal joked, squeezing her legs slightly together to imitate having to use the bathroom.
Ben chuckled, moving to stand in front of her. "A little over the top?"
"A little more than a little bit." Mal replied, earning soft chuckles from both of them.
"Well, so much for my first impression." He chuckled and Mal joined him. For a moment, they stared into each others eyes and Audrey watched the interaction with a small frown. At this moment, Ilaria began making her way towards them.
"Hey! You're Maleficent's daughter, aren't you?" Audrey asked, quickly interrupting their exchange. "Yeah, you know what, I totally do not blame you for your mother trying to kill my parents and stuff." Mal's eyes widen in disbelief and realization. "Oh, my mom's Aurora. Sleeping―︎"
"Beauty! Yeah, I've heard the name." Mal finished. "You know, and I totally do not blame your grandparents for inviting everyone in the whole world, but my mother to their stupid christening."
"Water under the bridge," Audrey replied, scrunching her nose and faking her smile.
"Totes!" Mal falsely agreed before they both laughed, ending it with a long sigh.
"Well, aren't you two such a lovely pair." Ilaria finally made herself known, her heeled black boots clicking along the stone path. Audrey and Ben turned to look at her, Audrey's fake smile immediately turning into a grimace. Her eyes scanned over Ilaria's outfit which consisted of a red and black t-shirt, a pair of black jeans, and her signature leather jacket. She came to a stop at Ben's side.
"You're late," Ben mumbled.
Ilaria smirked. "I know." Her eyes moved to the villain kids who were watching her. Her eyes darted to Mal and Evie's bright colored hair. "What's up with the weird hair do's? That's not your natural color is it?"
Instantly, the group of four were taken aback. Ben sighed. "Ria, play nice."
Ilaria hummed, her eyes scanning over Evie. The blue haired girl was pretty, Ilaria couldn't deny that. She wore a blue leather dress donned with blue heels and leather pants. She had a baby face but seemed to be the nicer of the two girls standing there. "You're cute," Ilaria commented. Evie's eyes widened, a blush crawling onto her cheeks.
Ben tried his best to hide his amusement at her bluntness. "Guys, this is Ilaria. She's going to be your guide and help for anything that you need when I am not available."
Ilaria cleared her throat. "Princess Ilaria." She mocked Audrey, a smirk forming on her lips when Audrey glared. "Daughter of the Red Queen, at your service." She gave a mock bow. She watched as the shock echoed on all of their faces. "That's right, you're not the only villain in the land."
"You. . . you disappeared." Jay frowned. "How. . ."
Ilaria waved him off. "A story for another time. Let's get started with this tour, shall we?"
Ben nodded. "That sounds like a good idea." He motioned to the school building and they began walking. "Auradon Prep, originally built over 300 years ago and converted into a high school by my father when he became King." They walked through the garden, coming to a stop in front of the bronze statue of King Adam. Ben clapped his hands and the statue transformed into the Beast.
Instantly, Carlos let out a scream of fright, jumping into Jay's arms who caught him in surprise, having been the closest to the boy. They all turned to look at him and Ben chuckled. "Carlos, it's okay. My father wanted his statue to morph from Beast to man to remind us that anything is possible."
Mal stared at the statue for a moment before asking, "Does he shed much?"
Ben stared at her in surprise at the joke but a smile was on his face. "Yeah, mom won't let him on the couch." Mal looked at him with surprise, her lips curling slightly on the side. Ben kept walking. Jay let go of Carlos and the boy landed on his feet. As the others continued walking, Carlos stared fearfully at the statue. Hesitantly, he lifted his hands and clapped twice, but when it didn't change back a whimper left his lips before he quickly ran to catch up with the group.
They entered the school, people instantly turning to look and whispering softly to each other. Mal, who either didn't notice or didn't care, asked, "So, you guys have a lot of magic here at Auradon? Like wands and things like that?"
"Yeah, it exists of course, but it's pretty much retired. Most of us here are just ordinary mortals."
Mal rolls her eyes. "Who happen to be kings and queens."
"That's true!" Audrey perked up. "Our royal blood goes back hundreds of years." She wrapped Ben's arm around her shoulders.
Ilaria stared at her blankly. "Could you be anymore annoying?"
Audrey smile instantly fell as a glare replaced it. She opened her mouth to reply but before she could Ben's attention quickly found Doug. "Doug!" He removed his arm from Audrey, making his way towards the boy. "Doug, come down." Doug walked down the stairs, joining Ben's side. "This is Doug. He's gonna help you with your class schedules and show you the rest of your dorms, with the help of Ilaria." He walked back over to Audrey, ignoring her presence and keeping his attention focused sorely on Mal. "I'll see you later, okay? And if there is anything you need, feel free to―︎"
"Ask Ilaria! Or Doug." Audrey interrupted. Again, she and Mal both let out forced laughs before ending them in long sighs. Audrey walked away, dragging Ben with her.
Ilaria moved to stand beside Doug as he introduced himself. "Hi, guys. I'm Dopey's son. As in Doppy, Doc, Bashful, Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy, and. . . "
"The classes, Doug." Ilaria interrupted him.
"Right." Doug quickly looked down at his chart. "So about your classes, I put in your requirements already." Mal walked over, reading the classes over his shoulder. "History of Woodsmen and Pirates, Safety Rules for the Internet and Remedial Goodness 101."
Mal flashed a smile of amusement. "Let me guess. . . new class?"
"Actually, it's been here for awhile." Doug replied.
"Thanks to the one and only." Ilaria motioned to herself. "Don't worry, I'll be in there with you. Nobody in this place trusts me."
"Well, you do break the rules and defy authority. . ." Doug claimed.
Ilaria sighed. "Doug, we can't focus on the past. It was one time."
"Actually, it's happened multiple times. . ." Ilaria rose a brow and Doug closed his mouth. "Sorry."
"Anyways, before you guys continue towards those stairs, your dorms are the other way." Ilaria said, staring at Doug before slowly turning her gaze to the villains who had began ascending the wrong staircase. She looked back to Doug and offered him a small smile. "I'll see you later, Doug."
"At dinner?" Doug asked.
Ilaria sent him a quick wink. "You know it." She walked away and the villains followed her. "Ladies, your dorm is right over there. Guys, down the hall. Nice meeting you, bye." She continued forwards to her own dorm, not bothering to look back as she disappeared into her room.
"She's not very welcoming," Evie noted. "I don't think I like her."
"Well, she definitely likes you." Mal replied. "Besides, she could be useful." And then, they went into their room.
Thank you to the lovely -voidlegends for making the opening gif!
