"He kills people, Matt. He's not the type of guy you go after in your underwear."

Holly had always been an early riser.

Despite the lack of sleep from her mind racing the night before, she was up by 6am starting her usual routine. She would drink her coffee on her fire escape and watch as the city came to life, her eyes gazing over the tall buildings and onto the sun blooming in the horizon.

She enjoyed mornings, the feeling of the sun lightly gliding across her skin like a bird to the sky, and the enjoyable peace that wasn't interrupted by the sound of her pager going off every three minutes saying they needed a nurse in a certain room.

After she was done reminiscing over her morning, that's usually when Holly's day would really start. She would usually put on some music, move herself into the bathroom to get ready, and maybe if she was feeling extraordinary she would make herself breakfast that didn't consist of the words 'Microwavable.'

Today was different though, mainly because today was the first day in years Holly didn't have to work. After getting a call from her boss saying and she quotes, 'You need to stay home or labor laws will be on my ass for how many hours you work.' Holly decided it would be best to spend her day doing what most adults would do on their day off. Absolutely fucking nothing. But, that didn't go to plan considering Holly can't stay still for more then ten minutes without feeling bored out of her mind.

So, like she used to in college, Holly sat across from Foggy as he shoved pancakes into his mouth like it was his last meal. In other words, 'A Nelson and Nelson breakfast extravaganza.'

"So I was thinking-" Foggy chewed at his food, syrup running down his chin like he was a toddler eating pancakes for the first time. "Your birthday is coming up. Maybe we should have a party at the Butcher Shop. We could decorate it all nice, get Theo to be the DJ, it would be fun." He shrugged, reaching forward at his cup of coffee.

"You know how I feel about going out for my birthday." Holly countered back. "I would rather just have a dinner with the family, not a big party. It would just be too much." She shook her head, poking at her eggs in front of her.

"Just think of it!" Foggy exclaimed. "It would be fun, and you could have an entire day of Mom rambling on about how she remembers you when you where just a baby and how time moves so fast."

"You think that sounds fun?" Holly smiled as she peaked her eyes up at Foggy.

Foggy chuckled as he shook his head, diving back into his food. "For you? No." He said, pointing his fork at Holly. "But for me? Getting to watch you suffer? Oh hell yeah."

Holly let out an exasperated gasp. "After all I've done for you this is how you repay me."

Foggy couldn't help but laugh as he moved his fork down to his plate and continued scarfing down his food.

As he looked up and behind Holly, the news was covering all three TV's in the diner. Every one of them showing a new report about the man in the mask. His brows furrowed as he looked over to the table at which the waitress was bent over, reading a 'Vogue' magazine at.

"Excuse me." Foggy nodded to the waitress. "Can you turn that up?"

The waitress reached over and grabbed the remote, not even acknowledging Foggy as she began to turn the volume up. The words became more clear in Holly's ears as she turned back watching the report play.

"A case that Chanel Four has been reporting for a while now, the mystery man of Hell's Kitchen, rather known as The Devil of Hell's Kitchen strikes again. Authorities say that a man was found dead outside of a warehouse after video surveillance caught this footage from that very night. Warning to all viewers, the video we are about to show may be disturbing to some."

A video began playing of the masked man throwing someone out a window and onto the hood of a car.  Holly felt her stomach drop as she saw Matt's figure. She didn't know why, but she felt as if now every pair of eyes in the diner where on her. Maybe it was because of the minute gasp she had let out that she believed to only be loud enough for her to hear, or maybe she was just being paranoid.

"Can you believe this guy?" Foggy questioned in disbelief, making Holly snap from her thoughts. "What I would give to punch him square in the jaw." He looked back down, poking at his food as he shoved more of it in his mouth.

Holly couldn't speak. Her heartrate sped up as words became trapped in her throat. She was only able to let out a weak response, one that was barely audible. "Yeah...It's crazy." She turned back to the TV, watching as they zoomed in on Matt.

"I bet he's working with that Fisk guy." Foggy spoke, making Holly's head turn back quicker then it should have.

"Wilson Fisk?" Holly questioned.

"Yeah, he's some guy that we think has been trying to get this lady named Ms. Cardenas to move out. It's ridiculous, she's an old woman who doesn't have anywhere to go and this dickhead is responsible for it. Matt got the idea it was him and Karen's been working with this reporter and getting some information on him. We think maybe if we can get some dirt on him we can stop this whole fiasco." He looked at Holly, his expression quickly changing. "Wait- how did you know his name?"

Holly paused, her gaze becoming challenging to keep on Foggy. "I uh-" She tried to think of an excuse, but just as she did her phone began buzzing in her bag, making her heartbeat calm down ever so slightly. "Shit- sorry, I have to get this it may be work."

As she lifted her phone from her bag, Matt's name lit across the screen. Holly felt her mind go blank as she just stared at her phone like she had never held a piece of technology before in her life. She looked up at Foggy, offering a small smile.

"It's my boss." She covered the phone with her hand as she scooted out of the booth. "I should take this real quick."

"Right." Foggy nodded, waving his hand. "Yeah, take your time."

Holly made her way to the back of the diner, her pace quick as she moved as fast as she could without it looking suspicious. Pushing the door open to the bathroom, she closed it briskly behind her and locked it. Pressing accept, she lifted the phone to her ear as panic drained into her chest.

"Please tell me you aren't calling me from jail." She worried.

"No." Matt said as Holly let out a breath of relief. "I'm uh- I'm calling you from my apartment. Where are you?"

"At breakfast with Foggy at The Square Diner." Despite the fact Holly was enclosed behind a locked door, she still felt the need to be discrete about her call. Her voice lowered as she crossed her free arm over her chest, practically tugging at the cloth of her sweater with how nervous she was. "You hurt?"

"Kinda." She could hear Matt's faltered groan, her eyes rolling at the man who refused to admit he was hurt. He hated making Holly nervous, the way it would weigh in her heartbeat despite the many times she would reassure him she was fine. "It's not bad."

"I can't hear heartbeats, yet I know your telling me pure bullshit right now."

"It's just a few torn stitches. Nothing you can't fix up for me." She could hear his smile ringing through the phone. He loved how she would get sarcastic with him.  "You help me and I'll buy you a cherry tart and coffee."

Holly took a deep sigh, peering at the door next to her. She felt terrible about all of this, not only keeping Matt's secret from Foggy but lying to him about what she was really doing. She felt as if her bond with him would disappear if he was to find out about everything, and the thought of that alone was enough to make Holly just about break down on the spot.

"Promise me you'll take a couple nights off after this." Holly said into the phone. "I could really use the break and I know your body could too."

"I promise." Matt assured her. "Now, is there anything I can do to stop the bleeding from these stitches? It looks like a murder scene on my couch."

"Grab a t-shirt or some sort of cloth material and apply pressure to the spot until I get there." Holly went to unlock the door, "And please don't try and take the stitches out. That's another issue I don't think I have the energy to handle."

Matt's faint laugh rushed through the phone and into Holly's ear. She couldn't contain the small smile that automictically left bay at the sound of it. "Got it, boss." He joked. "I live on the corner of 151st and 39th street. The apartment on the top floor, 8B."

Holly's brows furrowed. "That's on the other side of town. That night you walked me home you said you lived near me."

"I had to make sure you got home safe somehow." She could hear him beaming through the phone, that smile being cut off by a small groan. "Just walk in when you get here. The door's unlocked."

"I'll be there as soon as possible. Just try and apply pressure-" Holly went to hang up, but Matt's voice calling her name stopped her.

"I'm sorry, Holly." His voice was sincere and soft. "I really am."

"Don't apologize, just don't bleed out and get me charged for murder." She said, pressing the end button on her phone as she walked out the bathroom and into the diner.

Holly stopped at her booth, reaching over for her bag as she nervously fumbled through the inside of it. She was so panicked she couldn't even speak, let alone come up with an excuse for as to why she was leaving.

"Everything okay?" Foggy furrowed his brows, watching as Holly's panicked expression took reign over the rest of her body.

After living with Holly for eighteen years, Foggy knew when she was panicked. Her voice would grow high, her hands would shake like a leaf in fall, and her eyes couldn't stay on one object for more then five seconds. He had seen this expression of hers multiple times. Whether that be when she tried to sneak out for a party in her Sophomore year, or when she broke her moms family heirloom vase after playing boxer with Foggy.

"Yeah." Holly's high pitch voice rang in his ears. "Yeah everything's fine." She shook her head, trying to collect her thoughts. "I just uh- I got a call from the hospital they need another nurse on call. It's pretty urgent, some guy got all sliced up after last night."

Foggy just nodded along. "Right." He watched as Holly placed a twenty down on the table, pushing it back to her as he shook his head. "Take it, it's fine. Breakfast is on me."

Holly gave a faint smile of relief as her voice caught up to her breathing patterns. That damn feeling of bile climaxing up her throat started to make it's grand appearance. "Thank you." She placed her arms inside of her coat, throwing her bag over her shoulder soon after. "I'll uh, I'll see you later okay?"

"Yeah, right. The food drive." He pointed at Holly, keeping a small smile lined across his lips until he saw Holly leave the diner completely.

Foggy didn't know exactly what Holly was doing, but something told him that it wasn't just work that she was attending too.

"So your telling me, some woman is crazy enough to date that wack-job?" Holly snipped the last of the stitches, looking over his bloodied figure.

"I'm assuming she doesn't know." Matt said, leaning on his couch as he threw his head back and squinted his eyes. Pain coursed through his body from each and every one of the stitches Holly gave him. Maybe it was because of the mere fact she was distracted, or that she had been talking the entire time, but she wasn't on her usual A+ nursing game. "Or maybe she does. Who knows, maybe murderous men are one of her kinks." He loosely shrugged at his own joke.

Holly snickered at his words, finishing up the last of his stitches. "You actually reminded me of something-" Holly stood up, taking her gloves off as she tossed them into the trashcan she had lying next to Matt.

Matt pushed himself off his elbows, listening as she walked over to his kitchen. "Kinks for murderous men?"

"No, not that. What you said before just about Fisk, it reminded me I got something for you." She reached into her bag, pulling out a piece of paper that was inside a manila folder. Walking over, she handed him the piece of paper and watched as his brows furrowed. "I've been thinking about what we've been talking about and I...I wanted to help."

"What is this?" Matt questioned. He had already known what it was, but he was hoping Hollys sweet voice would reassure him it was something else.

Holly's mind came back into play when she realized Matt was blind. She just about choked on her words, sitting down next to his hip on the couch as she spoke. "Right, sorry. Forgot you can't see." She hesitated. "It's uh, It's Wilson Fisk's information. I got it last night."

"Holly-"

"I know, okay." She cut him off. "You told me to stay out of it but I couldn't. After seeing what he's been doing to people I'm starting to get worried for you." Holly took a deep breath. "He kills people Matt. He's not the type of guy you go out and fight in your underwear."

"Holly, what I wear isn't underwear." He had a small smirk line his lips. "Underwear is comfortable, that-" He motioned to his shirt and pants which where on the ground next to him. "Is not."

"You know what I mean. This paper has everything you've been looking for." Holly uttered, taking the paper back from him as she looked down at them. "Full name, phone number, address, relatives, you name it." She peered at him. "I mean, this is what you wanted right?"

"Yes, but Holly your putting yourself in danger by doing this." He continued sitting up until he was fully propped up against the arm rest of the couch. "If anyone found out about this let alone saw you, not just Fisk-"

"I did it all from home." She reassured him. "I had gotten the password for the admin controls a while back and a few other nurses have it. So even if word was to get out about someone snooping in Fisk's files, they would have a line of people to go through before they pinpointed it to me."

Matt remained silent, taking a long deep breath as he rubbed his hands over his face.

"You can't be all that disappointed." Holly gave a faint smile as she scoffed.  "I did just save you a couple more fists fights. Right?"

Matt didn't know what to think. Hell, he was more then happy about the information that Holly had given him because she was right, she had just saved him a couple more fist fights which his body was absolutely grateful for. At the same time though, Holly had willingly put herself in danger despite the fact that Matt had told her to stay out of everything.

"Promise me you won't do this again." Matt faced Holly. "Really, I can't risk you getting hurt."

"I promise." Holly crossed her hand over her heart, making Matt smile lightly at the small motion. "But just, be careful. Start texting me or calling me saying your alive, not just when you need help." Holly scratched the fabric on her sleeve, "I know I don't act like it, but this is really nerve-wracking."

Matt placed his hand on Holly's, stopping her motions. "I'll start texting you once I get back from patrol." He felt a pang of guilt in his heart, "I promise." He gave a weak smile, "And you don't need to worry about me. Like I said I'm a big boy, I can take care of myself."

Holly felt her chest ease up. That tension that was building and blocking out air now gone. Matt could feel her tension release in her muscles, making relief flush through his nerves. He kept his hand on her arm, moving his hand down to her wrist before moving his palm over hers and intertwining their fingers together. The motion was small, but it was something that made Holly feel at peace.

In the short time that Matt had known Holly, he knew from the very moment that he introduced himself to her that she would do anything to help others. She wanted it, hell she craved the approval that helping others gave her mind. Because of that craving Holly had, Matt felt nervous about her helping him. Would she really stop trying to find Fisk even after Matt had told her too?

Holly felt Matt's callused thumb swipe over her hand. Slowly her breaths slowed, until finally she was at peace again. Despite the comfort Holly felt in that moment though, reality struck her again when she looked down at her watch.

"Shit, I have to get going. I promised my mom that I would help her collect boxes for the food drive she's doing at the shop." She took her hand from Matt's, watching as his hand plopped down on his couch cushion. She stood up, the reflection of blue, pink, and purple lights shining in on her face. "Just text me if you need anything, okay?"

Matt gave a weak nod, listening as Holly's footsteps echoed into the kitchen. Matt hated how Holly made him feel. He loved being with her, talking with her, being able to take in her sweet smell that could just about make him fall asleep with how calm it made him. The part he hated was when she would leave, mainly because it was a reminder of how utterly hard he had fallen for her.

Holly was the only person Matt could fully open up with, or in his case, be vulnerable with. He had to realize though, that Holly wasn't just Matt's person to keep to himself. Holly was a daughter, a sister, a friend, a nurse, someone who belonged to the world. A world that wasn't just Matt's to keep.

"I'll bring you some food after the drive, that way you don't have to cook." Holly said, turning to Matt as she made her way towards the entrance.

"No, Holly really it's fine." He shook his head.

"I'm not taking no for an answer." Holly smiled, "You can barley walk, I'm not trusting you to go near an open flame." She dug through her bag, finding her phone. "Besides, I was gonna stop anyway to get some food. You'll be on my way back home."

Matt felt relief run through his veins as he leaned back on the couch again, "Thank you, Holly."

"No problem." She offered a faint smile, one that was soon cut off by the sound of her phone buzzing. Sure enough, Foggy was calling her once again most likely asking where she was.  "I better get going. If I don't I'm pretty sure Foggy will send an army for me."

Matt chuckled, listening as Holly made her way to the front door, hearing as she closed the door behind her and began to walk down the stairs.

Matt's eyes closed as he listened to Holly's heartbeat leave the building.

After packaging about a hundred boxes of canned foods and boxed rice, Holly stood up, silently cursing to herself for her back issues. God, she was only 24 and she had the bones of a brittle old woman. Hell, she had seen some of the patients in the elderly ward with less bone problems.

Holly packed tape over the top of the box, hearing the sound of footsteps move closer from behind her.

"Brought you some tea, honey." Her mother, Anna said. Her short brown hair was pulled back into a small ponytail, a few small strands falling loose near her face. She offered a smile as she handed Holly the Styrofoam cup. "It's better then that coffee junk you and Foggy are hooked on."

Holly chuckled. "Thanks, mom."

She took the cup, holding it with both her hands as they both leaned against the table Holly was working at. Standing tall at 5"7, Holly's height was a stark contrast to her mothers short features, making her tower over her as she turned her head in the direction of her mothers voice.

"How's work been going?" Her mother asked. "Your not exhausting yourself right?" Before Holly could even respond, her mother was on a rant again. "Your too pretty to be exhausted. Exhaustion leads to stress, stress leads to pimples, and pimples lead to you getting wrinkles." She pointed at Holly. "Your too young for wrinkles. Besides, your complexion is practically perfect you can't afford wrinkles-"

"I'm fine." Holly placed her hand on her mothers arm, giving a small smile. "I'm not over working myself. In fact, I didn't even work today."

Anna furrowed her brows as she hummed. "Okay." She faced forward, "I'll believe you." She pointed at her. "But I don't want to hear from Franklin that your overworking yourself."

Holly chuckled, lifting the cup to her mouth as her mothers voice rang in her ears.

"So... in other news." Anna turned to Holly. "Who's the guy?"

Holly choked on her drink, hot tea making it's way to her nostrils as she lowered the cup down. Anna reached back, grabbing a napkin from the holder as she passed it to Holly, watching as she wiped the leftover tea from her upper lip.

"What guy?"  Holly questioned, folding the napkin up as she wiped under her eyes.

"I'm not stupid, Holly Galena Nelson." Her mother side eyed her, crossing her arms over her chest as she had a small smile line her lips. "You have that glow."

Holly shook her head as she balled up the napkin, throwing it into the trashcan. "What glow?" Holly scoffed.

"The same glow I had when I met your father." Anna countered. "It's an afterglow. You got kissed didn't you?" Her mothers smile beamed across her face. Holly didn't say a word, nor shake her head. Anna's smile grew even wider as she clasped her hands together and placed them over her mouth. "Oh you got kissed! Who's the lucky bastard who got to kiss my girl!"

"Mom." Holly groaned.

She would have been happy to share details with her mother if it wasn't for the mere fact that the guy she kissed just so happened to be her mothers favorite non-Nelson boy. Anna had loved Matt ever since Foggy introduced them. She always told Holly that her and Matt needed to meet, in hopes that they would date and start a life together.

"Did I just hear that Holly got kissed?" Foggy and their brother Theo walked over, her father tagging along behind them. Foggy crossed his arms over his chest as he gave a smile.

Oh if only you knew, Foggy.

"Who kissed you?" Her father, Edward asked. "Let me see this guy." He hit the meat tenderizer against his hand.

"Dad." Holly warned. She faced the group of men that where now in front of her. Her palms became sweaty as her layers of clothing now became hot. She didn't know how to say it. One falter of a word and everything would slip out. "Yes, I got kissed."

A loud group of gasps and Woo's filled the room, making Holly cover her face in embarrassment. "Guys come on." She lowered her hands from her face, a blush pink tone covering her cheeks as she released the smile she was holding at bay. "You act like I haven't gotten kissed before."

"Yeah but this is different." Her mother pointed with a large smile. "You like him, a lot."

Holly tried to defend herself, but in a weak attempt to interject words, she was cut off by Theo.

"Come on, tell us about him." He pleaded, gaining a 'Yeah' from everyone in her family. "I need to know the target of the man I'm gonna beat up."

"Theo come on." Holly pleaded, getting nowhere with the nosey people in front of her. Pausing a few seconds, Holly finally broke ground and gained composer. "For now, I want to keep this just between me and the guy. We haven't even started dating, let alone talked about it."

Foggy chuckled. "Oh Matt's gonna be so disappointed to hear this."

Holly felt her heart drop. "What?"

"That your seeing someone." He crossed his arms over his chest with a laugh. "Don't tell him I told you this, but I think he has a bit of a crush on you. I was starting to get worried you felt the same way for him after New Years when you both played pool together, but now that I know this-" He wiped his hand across his forehead, acting like he was relieved. "Dogged that bullet."

Holly felt her chest tense up with his words. All of the sudden everything around her felt large, and she felt as powerful as a small ant. Her voice was hidden behind large breaths, her nerves jumping in her body.

"Oh I always liked Matty!" Anna exclaimed, "Didn't you like Matt, Edward? We always said him and Holly would make a perfect couple."

"Who?" Edward furrowed his brows.

"Oh you know! That Catholic boy who's blind." She tried to explain, her voice trying to carry over Theo and Foggy as they kept talking about Matt. "He was Foggy's roommate in college. He was the sweetest boy, always charming and kind, I would say him and Holly would be the best-"

"Enough about Matt!" Holly's voice finally broke loose, making the room finally grow quiet. She saw the confused faces staring back at her, making her heart pound against her chest. "I uh-" She hesitated. "I don't think he would want us talking about this considering it was supposed to be a secret."

The rest of her family nodded their heads slowly, making small 'Yeah' and 'Okay' noises. Holly felt her body ease up as she wiped the sweat from her palms onto her jeans.

"Yeah your right, I shouldn't have said anything." Foggy put his hands up, a slight chuckle coming from his mouth. "I don't know what I was thinking telling Holly, she can't keep a secret or lie worth shit."

"Language Franklin." His mother side-eyed him.

"Right, sorry." He turned back to Holly. "Can't keep a secret worth crap."

Holly had to quite literally force a laugh out of her mouth as the rest of her family's laughter combined together.

"Ha- right." Holly continued laughing, looking down at her watch as the laughter started to die down. She still had to take Matt dinner and it was already 7:00. She had been here for eight hours already. "Listen I uh, I gotta go." Holly reached behind her, grabbing her bag and coat.

"You got an early shift?" Theo questioned.

"Yep." Holly threw her bag over her shoulder after tossing her arms in her coat. "Tomorrow I start at four so I want to get some sleep before." She shrugged, looking over to the counter where a  plastic bag was resting. "Is that the stuff I ordered?"

"Yep, two cheesesteaks." Her father said, his arms crossed over his chest. "One of those wouldn't happen to be for your boyfriend would it?" He questioned with a sly smile, making Anna slap his arm.

"Like I said he's not my boyfriend." Holly chuckled, walking over and taking the bag from the counter. She turned back, facing her family as she gave a small wave. "See you guys."

A whole group of goodbyes echoed throughout the store as Holly made her way to the door.

As soon as she stepped outside, a large gust of cold wind hit her cheeks, making her entire body develop goosebumps. Frozen wind flies through the trees, leaving branches crunching together as the last of the dead leaf's fall onto the pile below the tree.

Holly kept her pace quick as she headed down the street's of Hell's Kitchen. Truly, she was exhausted and tired of the constant lying streak she had enveloped ever since she had become acquainted with Matt. The thought of even getting up and going to work the next day was enough to make Holly collapse on the floor like a child.

As she crossed the street, she began to notice a constant noise behind her. The noise gave her goosebumps on the back of her neck, one that let her know that eyes where on her.

Turning back, Holly noticed a pair of men walking close together behind her. She faced forward again, collecting her breath. She had always hated walking home alone, mainly because every sound-let alone person- made her feel as if she was on the wakening of getting kidnapped.

Pushing her paranoid thoughts down, Holly came up with the conclusion that just like her they where walking home. Still, for peace of mind, Holly looked both ways down the street before crossing over to the other sidewalk.  Yet, despite the fact she was on he other side, she still had an eerie feeling that made her heart pound against her chest.

Holly had one rule when it came to her instincts. Trust it. In every situation where Holly has followed her instincts (or at least most) she came to the conclusion that she was right. So at this very moment, as Holly walked down the street, she turned her head back and caught sight of the two men again-now on her side of the sidewalk.

Holl faced forward as she picked her pace up, reaching into her bag as she fumbled through items to find her phone. At this point, with how fast she was walking, her pace was close enough to a jog.

Panic coursed over her body as she attempted to find her phone. Her hands where shaky and filled with sweat despite the coldness in the atmosphere. Finally, after finding her phone, she searched for Matt's name and went to press the call button.

That's when everything moved so fast, Holly couldn't even collect her thoughts to pin exactly what was happening.

Within seconds Holly's cheek was pressed firmly against the ice covered concrete, brushes of dead sticks and dust moving against her face as she was held down. She tried to scream, but with every faltered breath and sound that escaped her mouth, it was trapped by a large hand pressed against her lips.

Her legs moved as she kicked the person on top of her, trying to move forward as another set of hands came soon after and pushed her back down to the floor. Holly cried out to anyone near, praying that with some miracle, God would find a way to get her help. Yet, with every sound she made, she felt as if it was doing nothing but making the situation worse

Not one person was around, making Holly's panic for the situation only rise. She couldn't move, she couldn't speak, she was paralyzed with fear. With one sudden movement, Holly felt as she was dragged across the floor into an alleyway behind her. Her phone was left on the floor, Matt's name in bold white letters still plastered across it.

Holly tried to locate where she was, but in those few seconds she was taken away, everything became still, and her whole world went black.

A/N- Oh boy, here we go with the cliffhangers.

How did we like this? Our story is now starting to pick up plot wise and I can't stress enough how excited I am about the rest of this story. I love how Matt fell so hard for Holly, it makes me so happy when I get to write about them.

I also promise you Holly will have a bigger part in this story then just the nurse. I know for now she's just the girl that stitches Matt up but I reassure you I will make sure she gets a better role in this, you just have to be patient with me.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed this and I will see you all next time! Have a great day/night and stay safe everyone <3

Daisy :)
