โฐโห ยท ยฐ . ย ย LESS THEN 12 HOURS. That was all the time I had left until midnight. December 2nd was approaching, and fast. I thought that I would be happy, ecstatic for the change. For the blocking charms to fall and reveal my true form, but I was completely and utterly terrified.
I did not know what was going to happen, how my body was going to change, how I would change, and it scared me to my core.
And when the clock striked 6pm, I wasn't expecting to become in less than an hour heated with fever.
After pondering my decision, I had finally arrived at the conclusion that whatever magic was going to change me had begun hours before we had expected. With a weak hand I grabbed my phone, eyes misty and unfocused I called Zyran, breathing heavily at the minimum movement.
"Meda? I'm on my way to your house, is everything okay?" His tone was like a balm for my racing heart. But it wasn't enough.
"Something is wrong." I said with a cracked voice.
"What is wrong? What's happening?" His panic was clear from the way the words were mushed together. Or maybe I was so out of it that my brain had fogged enough to not make me understand clearly.
"I don't feel fine. Is it starting already?" I croaked with a trembling voice.
"I don't know Darlin', but it's possible." He sighed, the sound of his car increasing his speed coming from his end of the call. "I'm going to be there in less than ten minutes, okay? Try to get some sleep if you can." I hummed my reply as the first tear fell from my eyes. "Don't hang up."
"Okay." I breathed, winching slightly as I adjusted myself on the bed. "You'll be here soon?"
"Yes, I promise." He said. "I'll be there soon."
My eyes closed, too heavy for me to keep them open anymore, and sleep took me in.

โฐโห ยท ยฐ . ย The first time I woke up, I was cocooned in strong arms and no more in my bed. I came to the conclusion that it was Zyran. His profume was strong and his warmth matched. My body protested with each movement as he walked with me in his arms.
"We are almost there."
The second time I woke up, I recognized the cave around me and the make-shift blanket bed underneath me. The sun wasn't in the sky anymore, but the moon had to still take its place.
My lips parted with a pained groan, I felt like I was boiling. Sweat had created an even layer all over my body. I could feel my clothes dampening with it, sticking uncomfortably on me.
My bones hurt, they felt brittle, veins like sandpaper against my skin. My back ached, the muscles between my shoulder blades feeling like they were on fire.
"Drink." A bottle of water was posed against my lips. The liquid went down my throat, slightly cooling my temperature until it raised once again.
I fell boneless on the bed, hand searching around me in tired movements. "Zy?"
"I'm here, Darlin'." I heard his voice but I couldn't see him. He wasn't anywhere near me. But further away in the far right of the cave, there was a very animalistic whine mixed with a growl that echoed till down my ears.
"No you are not." I said with the small strengths that I still had left.
"I know, but you are boiling hot and It would not help you having me near." he spoke as if the words had been hard to let them out. As if he was battling against his own instincts.
There was something inside me that cried at his missing presence. And that turned to more tears to escape my eyes.
"Please don't cry." Hurt, like he was the one in complete pain, bleeded into his words. "I can't see you cry and stay away."
I need him. "I need you." I still said. "Please." A strangled cry fell from my lips as the skin on my back started to feel like it was going to fall off at any time. "Please."
Warm. He was warm. And soothing. The pain lessened as his hands touched me and I had enough strength to crawl in his lap with cheeks wet with tears and skin damp with sweat. Zyran's chest began to move, vibrating under my head. The purr followed and sleep claimed me again.
The third time I woke up, it was even worse than the previous two. My body jolted awake with a cry of pain. If it hadn't been for Zyran, I would have ended up falling on the floor.
But maybe it would have been better because the fraction of the blankets underneath my body only worsened the agony. Even my clothes began to hurt. Even my own fingers if they dared to brush against the tender skin.
I felt like I was too big for my body. Like I was being stretched.
A scream tore from my lips, and for the first time, I could see the moon low in the sky. It was still too early to be midnight.
The heat had changed to freezing coldness. And the coldness switched back to intense heat in under a couple of minutes before starting the cycle again.
I could vaguely hear Zyran's voice trying to comfort me, but I was in too much pain.
I don't know how much time it passed, with my body fluctuating from a sweat mess to a shivering one. From blazing heat to burning cold.
"It's Midnight." It was the first thing that I had heard clearly.
It was midnight.
The burn started on my left arm, from my wrist to my elbow intensifying each second that passed. My back burned all over, aching heavily in the middle of my shoulder blades feeling like it was being slipped open.
I had a confused memory of the shirt that I was wearing being torn open by Zyran to let space for the new appendages that grew later.
When the pain stopped, I became aware of the stone ground underneath me. The fog lifted from my mind, and for the first time ever, I could see the word like it normally was. No more washed out colors, confused scents and sounds.
The air smelled like the ground after it rained with flowers tones to accompany it.
Smoking frankincense and cedarwood scent my nostrils. It was the most soothing scent that I had ever smelled. I had to resist the urge to let my eyes roll back. Two heartbeats echoed in the room alongside heart breathing.
"Darlin'."
Even his voice touched the strings of my soul.
"Wow you look..."
"Like I just spent hours freezing, sweating and screaming?" I commented sarcastically. I was sure I looked like shit.
His eyes, though, said another thing. Zyran helped me sit, and that was when I became aware of the wings coming out of my back.
They were two on each sideโ one big and the other smaller underneath. Translucent, reflecting the light of the moon and almost looked like made stars were woven in them. They fluttered lightly, augmenting their speed when my own heartbeat increased.
"That's..."
"Gorgeous. They are gorgeous. Just like you." He whispered, before brushing his fingers along my spine. Not high enough to touch any muscle near my wings. "Your back is covered in white tattoos."
"Tattoos?"
"Constellations. They are all over." He replied coming back in front of me.
With difficulty, he helped me stand, dragging me back to the bed where I sat down.
It was harder than I had expected walking with the wings. They kept pushing me forward as they flattered. Fortunately, they weren't heavy. Actually, it was almost like I did not have them.
"Your hair has a few silver strings too actually." He chuckled at the way my eyes widened only to freeze when I brought my left hand to my hair.
"What?"
His eyes flashing between their hazel-brown color to the vibrant blue of his dragon before the brown was completely gone. He took my arm in his hand, eyes set on my forearmโ which now five spotted white, almost tending to the a very light lilac shade, tattoos. Other constellations. The Auriga, The Draco, The Orion, The Vulpecula and The Lyra.
I had always been good with the constellations, but even this, recognizing them, knowing the lore behind each one of them with a single look was far from my previous knowledge. And still, I could do it as easily as reading, breathing.
But these felt different from the one on my back. These felt like pieces of my soul.
A pleased sound rumbled Zyran's chest mixing with his purr when he traced a specific one. The Draco.
A gasp left my lips before being followed by a moan the more he traced it.
"Mine." He said through a growl. And soon later, Zyran was back. "I guess I was right." He said with furrowed brows.
"About what?" I asked as I layed down, sleep was quickly taking me under.
I remember the kiss that he left on the temple and the words whispered in my ear, "Happy Birthday, Darlin'." He had said, but after that, darkness stole my memory.
