The island had become a second home to Rosetta, a place where time seemed to slow down, allowing her to savor every moment. The once-foreign landscape now felt familiar, with its sun-drenched beaches, lush greenery, and the distant hum of life from the occasional visitors who roamed the other side of the island. But here, in the secluded embrace of Ronan's mansion, they were in a world of their own.

Rosetta, her belly now round and full with the life growing inside her, had settled into this new chapter with a sense of peace she hadn't known before.

The days blended together in a comforting routine-mornings spent by the water, afternoons exploring the island's hidden treasures, and evenings wrapped in Ronan's arms as they planned for the future. They often spoke about the baby, imagining who they would look like, what their first words might be, and how their lives were about to change.

Footsteps in the sand softly drew her out of her trance as she glanced back and saw her boyfriend approaching. "Hey love," he greeted her with a quick kiss and sat down on the comfy recliner next to her.

She just smiled and looked back towards the endless ocean, its waves swaying and the wind passing by.

Ronan stared at his beautiful baby mama. Her huge naked belly looked absolutely ethereal in the golden rays, her boobs had gotten more full making them look sexier to him and her wide hips were perfect for grabbing when they made love.

"Stop staring, you're making me blush," she murmured, her cheeks warming as she shyly looked away.

Ronan smirked before moving closer and picking her up as she gasped. "What are you doing?" she asked, holding his biceps in surprise as he settled back down and placed her on his lap.

"Now you are where you should've been," he replied as he pecked her cheek and held her in his arms. She chuckled as she got comfortable, placing her head on his chest and his arms around her belly.

"Can you believe how far we've come?" Rosetta asked, her voice low and soft.

"I know," Ronan responded with a sigh. "I feel like it was yesterday when I found out you were pregnant."

After Ronan spoke, she suddenly grew quiet, her unexpected silence immediately stirring his concern. "What's wrong?"

"I was just thinking about the day when I was attacked," she mumbled as she tightened her hold on his body. "It was scary."

Ronan's features hardened but he kept his cool. He was haunted by that day every time he thought about it. "You're safe. That won't ever happen again, I promise."

"I know."

The sun was high in the sky, casting a warm, golden glow over the grassy meadow where Rosetta and her friends had spread their picnic blankets. The day was perfect, the kind that made you forget about all your worries and just bask in the simplicity of good company and sweet treats.

Rosetta sat with her back against a sturdy oak tree, a contented smile on her lips as she watched Millie and Harlow attempt to fly a kite nearby, their laughter ringing through the air. The others, Mandy, Carla, and Giselle, were gathered around the blanket, which was laden with an array of sweets, sandwiches, and fruit. It was a beautiful spread, each dish lovingly prepared and shared among friends.

"This is exactly what I needed," Rosetta sighed, taking a bite of a strawberry. "It's been too long since we all got together like this."

"Agreed," Carla nodded, reaching for a sandwich. "And it's even more special now, considering it's one of the last times we'll see you before the baby arrives."

"Speaking of which," Giselle chimed in, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Have you two decided on a name yet?"

Rosetta shook her head, a soft laugh escaping her. "Not yet. Ronan and I are still throwing ideas around, but we haven't settled on anything."

"Well, we're here to help!" Millie called out as she and Harlow returned to the blanket, the kite now abandoned. "What about something classic, like Emma or William?"

"Or something unique," Mandy suggested, her eyes bright with ideas. "Like Zephyr or Luna!"

Rosetta chuckled as the names flew around, each friend offering their own suggestions, some serious and others delightfully outrageous. The conversation was light-hearted and fun, filled with the kind of easy banter that only close friends could share.

As they continued to chat and eat, the topic shifted to more personal matters, and it wasn't long before everyone turned their attention to Mandy, who had been uncharacteristically quiet.

"So, Mandy," Harlow began with a mischievous grin, "How are things with Jake?"

Mandy blushed instantly, her cheeks turning a shade of pink that had everyone else giggling. "Things are good," she replied, trying to sound nonchalant, but the smirk on her lips gave her away.

"Good?" Carla teased. "I'd say they're more than good, considering how loud you were last night!"

The group erupted into laughter as Mandy covered her face with her hands, mortified. "Oh my God, you guys! That's so embarrassing!"

"Don't worry, everyone knows now," Millie said with a wink. "It's about time someone in our group had a little fun!"

Mandy peeked out from between her fingers, unable to suppress her own giggles. "You're all terrible."

"Terribly happy for you," Giselle corrected, reaching over to squeeze her hand. "Jake's a great guy. You two are adorable together."

The teasing continued, but it was all in good fun, and Mandy eventually joined in the laughter, the embarrassment fading as the warmth of her friends' love surrounded her.

The day passed in a blissful blur of laughter, conversation, and the simple joy of being together. The picnic felt like a slice of heaven, a rare moment of peace and happiness that Rosetta wished could last forever. They talked about everything from the latest gossip to their hopes for the future, all the while relishing the warmth of the sun and the closeness of their friendship.

As the sun began to dip toward the horizon, casting long shadows across the meadow, Rosetta sighed contentedly, her hand resting on her belly. "This was perfect," she said softly, looking around at her friends. "I don't know what I'd do without you all."

"Don't worry," Millie replied with a grin. "We're not going anywhere. We'll be here for you every step of the way."

Little did they know, those words would take on a whole new meaning before the day was over.

As the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting an orange glow over the winding road, Millie kept her eyes focused on the path ahead. The car was filled with the sound of lively chatter and laughter, the remnants of their perfect day still fresh in everyone's mind. Rosetta sat in the passenger seat, her hand resting protectively on her belly, a content smile playing on her lips. Giselle, Mandy, Harlow, and Carla were squeezed into the backseat, continuing their playful banter as the car moved steadily along.

"This has been the best day," Giselle said with a sigh, leaning her head back against the seat. "We need to do this more often."

"Definitely," Mandy agreed. "It's nice to just relax and enjoy each other's company."

Rosetta turned to Millie, who was concentrating on the road. "Thanks for driving, Mills. You're the best."

Millie flashed a quick smile, her hands steady on the wheel. "Anything for you, Rose."

The conversation continued, light and carefree, until a sharp, sudden screech filled the air. Rosetta's heart lurched as she saw, out of the corner of her eye, a car speeding toward them from a side road. There was no time to react, no time to even scream before the other vehicle slammed into their car with a deafening crash.

The impact was brutal, hitting the passenger side with such force that it sent their car careening off the road. Everything happened in a blur-the screech of tires, the shattering of glass, the gut-wrenching sound of metal crunching against metal.

Rosetta's world spun violently as the car swerved, her body jolting forward before being jerked back by the seat belt. Pain exploded in her side, sharp and searing, and then-darkness. The last thing she heard was the panicked cries of her friends, but even those faded as the world around her dissolved into nothingness.

The car finally came to a halt and slammed against a tree on the side of the road. Inside, the air was thick with dust and the acrid smell of burning rubber. The once joyous chatter was replaced by stunned silence, broken only by the pained groans of the girls in the backseat.

"Rose!" Millie's voice was frantic, shaking as she fumbled with her seatbelt. "Rosetta, are you okay? Rose, please, wake up!"

But Rosetta didn't respond. Her head lolled to the side, her eyes closed, a small trickle of blood running down her temple.

The right side of the car had taken the brunt of the impact, crumpling inward with terrifying force. Rosetta's body was slumped in the seat, motionless, her breathing shallow and ragged.

In the backseat, Giselle clutched her arm, which had been thrown against the door in the crash. "Oh my God, someone call for help!" she cried, her voice shaking with fear. "She's not waking up!"

Mandy, her hands trembling, fumbled for her phone, dialing emergency services with shaky fingers. Harlow and Carla, both disoriented and in shock, tried to free themselves from the tangled mess of seatbelts and debris, their minds barely processing what had just happened.

As the sirens wailed in the distance, growing louder with each passing second, the girls could only stare in horror at their unconscious friend, praying with every fiber of their being that she would be okay. The day that had started with so much joy had turned into a nightmare in the blink of an eye.

Rosetta's world slowly began to come back into focus as she opened her eyes, the sharp antiseptic smell of the hospital filling her senses. She felt disoriented, her body heavy and sore, as if she had been trapped in a nightmare. Blinking against the harsh light, she realized she was lying in a hospital bed, surrounded by machines that beeped steadily.

Ronan was there, sitting in a chair beside her bed, his face drawn and haggard. The relief in his eyes was palpable when he saw her stir, and he immediately leaned forward, his hand trembling as he reached for hers.

"Rose," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "Thank God, you're awake."

She tried to respond, but her throat was dry, and her voice came out as a raspy croak. "Ronan... what... what happened?"

Before Ronan could answer, he quickly pressed the call button to summon the doctor. Within moments, the door opened, and a middle-aged doctor entered the room, clipboard in hand. He approached the bed with a reassuring smile, though his expression was serious.

"Ms Rosetta," the doctor began, addressing her softly. "It's good to see you awake. You've been unconscious for three days following a car accident. How are you feeling?"

Rosetta's hand instinctively went to her belly, fear gripping her heart. "The baby... is our baby okay?" she asked, her voice trembling.

The doctor nodded, his tone calm but cautious. "Your baby is still with us, but there have been complications. Your blood pressure spiked, and the baby is experiencing some distress. We're monitoring both of you closely, and we'll be doing everything we can to ensure a safe outcome."

Rosetta's eyes filled with tears, and she looked to Ronan for reassurance. But his face was tense, his jaw clenched as he struggled to keep his emotions in check. The doctor quickly checked her vitals, making notes on his clipboard before turning back to Ronan.

"She'll need plenty of rest, and we'll be monitoring her condition regularly," the doctor advised. "Try to keep her calm and stress-free."

Ronan nodded, his voice tight. "Thank you, doctor."

As the doctor left the room, closing the door softly behind him, the tension between them became almost palpable. Ronan's relief at seeing her awake quickly gave way to a storm of conflicting emotions-fear, anger, guilt. He stood up abruptly, pacing the small space at the foot of the bed, his hands running through his hair in frustration.

Tears welled up in Rosetta's eyes as the reality of the situation sank in. "This is all my fault," she whispered, her voice trembling. "If I hadn't gone on that picnic if I had been more careful..."

Ronan's grip tightened on her arm, his own emotions bubbling to the surface. "No, Rose. Don't you dare blame yourself for this? It's not your fault. I should have been there. I should have protected you."

"I'm so sorry," she sobbed, her hand gripping his tightly. "I never wanted to hurt you. I thought I was strong enough, that we could get through anything together. But now... I'm terrified, Ronan. I'm scared for our baby. I'm scared for us."

Ronan's anger melted away at the sight of her tears, replaced by a wave of sorrow and regret. He couldn't bear to see her like this, so broken and afraid. He immediately moved closer, sitting on the edge of her bed, and wrapped his arms around her, holding her as gently as he could.

"No, Rose. Don't apologize. You're the strongest person I know. You've been through so much, and you're still here, still fighting. I'm the one who should be sorry. I should have been there to protect you, to keep you safe. But I failed you."

Rosetta shook her head, her tears soaking into his shirt. "You didn't fail me, Ronan. You've always been there for me, even now. I'm just so scared... I don't want to lose you. I don't want to lose our baby."

Ronan's heart ached as he held her tighter, pressing a kiss to her hair. "You won't lose me, Rose. I'm right here, and I'm not going anywhere. And our baby... our baby is strong, just like you. We'll get through this, I promise."

For a long while, they stayed like that, wrapped in each other's arms, finding solace in their shared fears and hopes. Rosetta's sobs gradually subsided, her exhaustion taking over as she leaned into Ronan's comforting embrace. Despite the machines beeping around them, the world felt a little less terrifying with him by her side.

Eventually, Rosetta's breathing evened out, and she drifted back into a fitful sleep, still cradled in Ronan's arms. He watched over her, his resolve hardening with every passing moment. He couldn't change what had happened, but he could be there for her now, protecting her and their baby with everything he had.

....

"Now speak!" Ronan slapped Samual as blood trickled down his grimy face and onto the cemented floor.

Samuel coughed and spit some blood out before looking up at him with his half-damaged eye.

"Rosetta isn't my real daughter," he started as Ronan sat back in front of him in the dimly lit room. The air was thick with the sharp, metallic scent of blood, but it was tainted by something far worse-a rancid, putrid odor that clung to the nostrils, turning the stomach with its foulness.

"Her bastard mother had an affair behind my back when I was trying to get food for her. That's how I got rewarded while trying my hardest to do everything for them. Turns out she wasn't even mine," Samuel spoke as a tear slipped down his bearded face, making him sniffle. Ronan wasn't bothered much as he sighed with an eye roll.

He chuckled. "Eventually, I forgave her but for my own needs. I used that bitch to get anything I wanted and she couldn't complain because if she did, she'd be homeless. Rosetta isn't mine and the only reason I kept her was because of my reputation which she has clearly intensified," he spat, his hatred spewing out of his mouth and on his expressions.

Anger surged through Ronan like wildfire, hot and unrelenting. His muscles tensed, fists clenching so hard that his knuckles turned white. Every heartbeat felt like a drum pounding in his chest, sending waves of heat up his neck and into his face, where his skin flushed with fury.

"Still doesn't mean you can touch what's mine," without warning he was shot dead.

His body was then fed to the dogs just how Ronan preferred.

"It was scary but I'm glad that stupid son of a bitch is dead," Ronan said, rolling his eyes as he caressed her back softly.

Rosetta hummed while closing her eyes and savouring the moment. Everything was perfect, from Ronan being the best boyfriend to her being a mom-to-be, she knew it would be okay.
