Season Two, Episode One
Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head

Sex with Alex was amazing, all those times he gloated about his penis and they all turned out to be true. The sad part was that they only got in two rounds until Alex got paged back into work. Even though she didn't get stay up all night having sex with Alex, she thought the next best thing was to group a couple of rounds at Joes.

So here she was, walking into one of her favorite places and even she could tell that she had that 'look' on her face.

"Maggie, where have you been!" Joe yelled from across the bar, his smile got ten times as big when he saw Maggie but it was even better when she brought Kelly along.

"Hey, Joe. I've been 'round, got so much to tell yeah" Maggie took two seats from Meredith, she could tell that her acquaintance was down and she couldn't help but feel bad considering it was partly her fault.

"Whisky neat on me" Joe handed her, her signature drink with a wink, "I heard that guy got what was comin for him" He shouted when he saw George and Christina walk into the bar.

"George knocked him down in one punch" Christina announced with a smile, "You shoulda seen it"

Maggie looked at George with crazy eyes, "Since when did you take a page outta my book?" George simply rolled his eyes at that.

"I don't want to talk about it"

"Brag, champ, brag. You've earned it" Joe cheered.

"Can I have a beer, please" George asked the bartender.

"Let's play a game of whose life sucks the most" Meredith said once they sat down in between her and Maggie. She stared at the Shepherd girl, like it was all her fault.

"Let's not"

"I'll win, I always win" She pouted. Maggie rolled her eyes, of only she knew half the stuff that he was filling into her head.

"Well, you don't want to play with me"

"Oh, I do. I'll even go first" Meredith paused for moment, "Derek's Married" While everyone had there own reactions, Maggie's stayed neutral.

"Oh, Georgie. You've got beer coming out of your nose and you've made a mess on Joes beautiful bar" Maggie whined, taking a sip of her drink.

"Did you know?" Christina looked up at Maggie who just shrugged.

"I wasn't even invited, I found out a month after they got married by my sister"

"You should've said something" Meredith told her with sad eyes.

"Meredith, I didn't even know if he was still married or if he had kids or if he died until almost a year ago" Maggie told her honestly, "I don't know what you think you know about me but I for one don't spill other peoples person information" She got up after George did to make sure he was alright, she didn't stay to see the look on Merediths face and honestly she didn't care for it either.

"Are you okay, buddy?" Maggie asked George as she gave his back a slight pat.

"Yeah? Why are you acting so weird?" George squinted his eyes at his friend, he knew something was up.

"I had sex with Alex" She blurted.

"A-Alex?" He stutters, "But he's so dirty"

"At least he wasn't the one who slept with Olivia and gave you Syphilis" Maggie short back.

George took some time to process, "Holy shit. Does Pat know?"

"I called her and she screamed on the phone so I hung up, you know how she is when it come to Alex, she's like obsessed over our nonexistent relationship" Maggie groaned, it was true though, Pat dreamed about this day.

"It's not 'nonexistent' anymore" He pointed out, "Oh, hey. I heard that you called your brother a dickhead in front of everyone"

"Yep" She nodded her head, "He and Meredith were conversing about my amazing up bringing"

"He told her that you were adopted?" He questioned as if he wasn't hearing correctly, "Did he tell her about your biological parents?" He asked after she nodded.

"I have no clue, I'm sure he did and I'm pretty sure he told her all about how wonderful he was as a brother" Maggie told him sarcastically, she hated that what he did or says still got to her but he was supposed to be her brother and that love was supposed to be unconditional.

"But he wasn't"

"I know that George, I lived it" Maggie gulped down the last bit of alcohol she had left, "You know, I don't think I'm mad at that anymore, I think I'm most mad about the fact that he hasn't spoken to Amy since she recovered, not even to ask how she was and knowing that plus everything he did to me, that's what brings my hatred over the top"

Maggie turned around fast when she heard Joe groan in pain, she saw him take the long fall to the ground so she quickly bent down to check his pulse.

"Joe, buddy. Can you hear me?" Maggie asked swiftly, opening his eyes to check his pupils.

He regained consciousness quick and everyone was hollering at him to stay put but of course that didn't work.

"Joe, lie down. The medics are on the way" George yelled.

"Come on, Joe. Sit back and relax, we can't be to sure what happened so you have to come to the hospital so we can run a few tests" Maggie told him gently.

"Tests? No. I don't need any tests, I'm fine" He refused.

"Dude, quit being stupid. You collapsed on the floor and we both know how dirty this bar is" Maggie shouted.

"Racial pulse is strong" Meredith announced.

"Minor skull contusion"

"You're sleeping with someone?" Merediths looked up at Christina.

"What? Who?"

"Why is that such a shock? Even George managed to get some action" Christina looked at Meredith and then to George.

"Correction. George got some Syphilis"

"How could I not know you were sleeping with someone?"

"Forget this. The hospital is right across the street, I can sure as hell walk across the street by myself" Joe got up from the floor and began to walk wobbly to the door.

"Oh, I think we should-"

"We've got this" Maggie pointed from her to George, "Joe!"

Maggie walked with Christina down the hall, they had just admitted Joe I tot he hospital and the rest of the group were in the waiting room.

"All right, details. The both of you" Meredith looked from Christina to Maggie, "You had sex with Alex and you're pregnant, what are you gonna do?"

"It's fun, Mer. I'm having fun" Maggie laughed, in all honesty she wasn't sure why Meredith wasn't made at her but it was pretty cool that she wasn't.

"Well, you know what happens with pregnant interns. I'm not switching to the vagina squad or spending my life popping zits. I'm too talented, surgery's my life" Christina walked in front of the two girls so that nobody else could hear the conversation.

"Which begs the question, who are you sleeping with?" Meredith asked again.

"Just a guy"

"Give us something to go on, Christina" Maggie pushed. Any other day, Maggie wouldn't care who was fucking who but tonight was different, she felt different.

"Come on, that's all we get? You can't just bring something like this up and expect us to drop it" Meredith whispered, she gave Christina a look as if she was worried about her wellbeing.

"Watch me" Christina walked away from the two girls.

"Don't think you're off easy because Christina won't fess up. I thought you hated Alex, you gave him a nickname and everything 'King of Douche" Meredith pulled Maggie back so she couldn't walk away like there other friend just did.

"I'll talk to you guys later, besides it's no big deal" Maggie shrugged and headed toward George, who was leaning against the counter.

"Why are you back here tonight, don't you have a date with McDreamy?" Izzie looked at Meredith.

"More like McMarried" George added, making Izzie look over at Maggie.

"McWhat?" Izzie pushed out, she was shocked just like everyone else.

"We came to check on Joe, Izzie" Maggie looked over at Meredith and then back at Izzie, it was very clear that she didn't want to talk about Derek.

"Do you think it's going to be okay?"

"Do you think he's gonna need an operation?" Christina asked next.

"Operation- Yes. Okay- Hard to tell" Derek walked up to the group with Joes folder, "The basilar artery is blown up like a balloon, subarachnoid bleeding and an aneurysm the size of a golf ball"

"There's no way to clip Something like that " George sighed into her hands.

"Not without magic fingers" Christina said the obvious.

"Wait" Maggie lifted her head from her hands, "A standstill operation, it could work"

Derek nodded his head as his little sister talked, very clear to not look at her though and everyone noticed.

"You're gonna do the standstill opera- He's doing a standstill operation" Christina said excitedly.

"I'd like to try but first I need some additional patient history, overnight labs and a cerebral angio" Derek looked at Meredith and extended the folder for her to take.

"Nuhuh, absolutely not" Maggie yanked the folder from his hands and handed it to George.

"I'm drunk" Meredith added and then walked away.

"Meredith..." Derek called out, taking a step to go toward her but Izzie stepped in front of him and then Christina leaned her arm against the counter so he couldn't get passed, George read the folder as he stepped in front of Derek to slow him down. Maggie realized that it wasn't doing much to stop him so she turned back, grabbed the cup that Izzie was about to drink from and accidentally poured it on his shoes.

"Dammit, I'm so clumsy when it comes to assholes, this happens all the time" Maggie pointed to his now wet shoes and pants, he looked down at the liquid now leaking into his socks and then back at Maggie with a glare.

The rest of the group looked at Maggie with the same neural expression before Christina grabbed the folder from George.

"Ahem"

"Oh chill, you know we are on her side but it's Joe and his very incredible illness" Maggie looked at the folder but Christina walked away with it before she could look at it.

George looked at Maggie and nodded his head to the side, "We should go" She nodded her head, knowing that Meredith would be left to defend Derek by herself and that wasn't going to happen.

"We'll see you later, Iz. I promise to bring you another coffee" Maggie gave her a small smile before walking with George.

"I can't believe you poured coffee on him" George laughed.

"I can't believe I haven't been fired yet" Maggie grimaced.

"Yeah right, they would be stupid to let you go and they know that. You're gonna be a better doctor then anyone in this building, even Derek" George told her honestly. Maggie turned to look at him, giving him a thankful smile and wrapping her arm around his shoulder.

"Oh shit" Maggie called out when she saw Meredith yelling at Derek in the ran.

They both ran outside, George grabbed Meredith to get her away, "Don't you dare" Maggie stopped Derek when he tried to follow. She walked backwards for a couple, making sure that he wasn't following and if he knew what was best then he wouldn't.

Maggie was the first to be picked when a trauma came in, three emergency patients were rolled into the ER after being in a car accident.

"Maggie, this is gonna be a big one. I need you to be my partner on this one since Dr. Kennedy is on vacation, I know you know what to do, so please don't mess this up" Dr. Trenton snapped her gloves on and rushed to the ER entrance.

"Okay, listen up! We have a multi-Victim vehicle accident, whoever doesn't need to be here, I suggest finding a different squatting post or heading to the waiting room. We will need all the we can get" Maggie didn't hesitate jumping into her new role, she guided the lone patients into a separated room so they weren't in front of the main hallway.

"What do we got?" Maggie turned herself to the paramedics walking into the hospital.

"First two were in a MVA when it slammed into another vehicle, that vics still on the scene"

"I've got this one, Dr. Trenton" Maggie looked up at her boss and then grabbed the handles on the side of the gurney.

"He has a deep gash to his left thigh from broken glass"

"That's gotta hurt" Maggie tisked, looking at the blood, "Benton, you're with me. Help me get him to trauma two"

They pushed the gurney into the room and transferred him onto the bed, "Insert the needle so we can get a flow of blood, we don't want him bleeding out"

"How's Brianna? Is she okay?" The patient groggily asked, looking around the room to see if he can find her.

"We have doctors working on her in the other room but we've gotta focus on you right now, sound good?" Maggie held his shoulders down so that he wouldn't get up.

"I didn't see the other car. Is that driver okay?"

"There not here yet but I'll give you an update when I know something" Maggie smiled at him, she looked down at his leg and lifted up the fabric away from the cut, only for it to gush blood, "Woah, okay. Looks like he cut the femoral artery, I'm gonna need some more gauze"

Maggie took the stool from the corner of the room and sat on it, "We're gonna need to stitch this up, put the first unit in"

"Pressures up to 84"

"We're gonna need to run two more units on the rapid infuser and I need another 6-0 silk" Maggie looked up at the nurse, she handed her another stature packet, "Thanks, after this I'm almost done" She kept perfectly still so the her patient wouldn't end up with a massive scar but her head was racing with excitement. What a perfect way to start the morning.

Maggie finished her trauma case just in time to watch Joes surgery and she was thankful for that.

She sat front row next to Izzie, they both had brought some snacks to share considering lunch wasn't much of an option on a busy day like this.

"Oh, sure. I'm the guy with a heart of stone but you brought snacks" Alex sat down next to Maggie, testing his hand on her thigh but she knocked it right off and nodded her head to Bailey who was standing a few feet away.

"Half of those are Maggie's and it's a working lunch"

"Snacks to watch Joe die" Alex said, stealing a few bites from Maggie's granola.

"He's not going to actually die, they're gonna bring him back" Maggie scoffed at his behavior.

"He's gonna die, as in no pulse die. He's gonna he dead"

"Can it you worm. You can't let that negative shit out in the world" Maggie pushed his head away from her face.

"That's it" George abruptly said, "Dead. Excuse me, sorry" They watched him rush out of the room, maybe he could find something that'll help Joe.

Some time has passed and Maggie couldn't help but hold Alex's hand in comfort and he let her, "You know, I'm very sweet once someone gets to know me" He looked at her.

"Whatever, no you're not" Maggie scoffed.

"You seem to think so" He looked at the side of her face, he smirked at how she didn't even seem to notice.

"Alex, we had sex, that doesn't mean that I like you" Maggie rolled her eyes.

"So why are you holding my hand?"

She looked down at their interlocked fingers and then up to his face, they where very close but nobody made a move to distance.

"Please don't let me down, Alex" She whispered, her hot breath fanned his face, "I really hope Joe pulls through this" She said shortly after so Alex didn't have a chance to respond to her plead.

"He can. He will. He has to" Alex reassured her. She let go of his hand and moved it to his back, gently rubbing it so that he could feel the comfort from her.

Maggie finally had the chance to call Kelly, she should've called him as soon as Joe reached the hospital but it's not everyday that you run your own trauma case. It wasn't a surprise that her friend came as soon as he could and he wasn't surprised when he saw that Alex was with Maggie waiting in Joes room.

"Thanks for calling me, Mags" Kelly pulled her into a hug, "Even though you're hours late"

"I'm sorry, Kel" She sighed into his shoulder, "I've got so much to tell you"

He looked up at Alex and then back at Maggie, "Yes, you do"

"Kelly?" Joe asked, finally noticing him, "Where's the rest of the group?"

"Pat and Fin are down at the gift shop, you know how they are" Kelly set his bag down at the foot of Joes bed and walked to the chair closest to him, "You really had me worried, Joe"

"I'm good" Joe smiled at him, "I'm grateful to have you all here"

"Hey, we've talked about this" Fin walked in with a hand full of balloons, "You've joined 'the misfits club' you're family now"

"And don't you forget it" Pat said next to her, setting the stuff overflowing in her hands down, "Oh. I found this one roaming the halls" She pointed to George, "Figured he should be here as well"

Maggie smiled at Joe when his face lit up as Finley called him family, she turned to Alex who was just watching her group of friends, he had a mixture of amazement and confusion on his face by the group standing in front of him and to Maggie, that was completely normal.

"Me and Alex are gonna head out, we've had a long night" Maggie grabbed her bag and walked over to Joe, "Take care of yourself, buddy" Leaning down time Kelly's level, she whispered, "Call me if you need anything"

"Love you, Mags" He gripped her hand as a sign of a 'thank you'

"Love you the most" She gave him a kiss on the head before turning to say goodbye to the rest of the group.

With the final goodbye, she extended her hand for Alex to grab and they headed out of the room and out of the hospital to do god knows what.

AUTHORS NOTE

I love every single one of these people and I'm jealous of Maggie's friend group.

Makes me sad knowing what's going to happen in the future though ):

anyway, I need your guy's opinion: Should I leave this book at season three or start another book continuing their story??? If I only do this one book then I'm ending it at season three and then possibly adding bonus chapters!! Let me know what you think(:

PSA

I do not condone Maggie's actions, in fact they actually make me want to rage vomit but oh well

I had just recently gotten into The Night Shift and one of the recent episodes I watched was what I based Maggie's solo on(:
