Furries do NOT think they are animals. If they say they are an animal while in fursuit which 100% of the time never happens, they are just in character. It dosen't mean they think they are actually animals.

Although there are other two categories called "otherkin" and "therian."
Allow me to break the meanings and differences of these two types because EVERY TIME NO JOKE I EXPLAIN WHAT THOSE TWO TERMS MEAN TO PEOPLE THE PEOPLE ALWAYS SAY,

"Oh then its a furry!"

AND IT PISSES ME OFF SO IM GOING TO CLEAR THIS UP;

An otherkin is - a person who identifies as non-human, typically as being wholly or partially an animal or mythical being.

The difference - Otherkin feel that deep down inside, they are something nonhuman, spiritually, psychologically, or something else. Furry is more of an umbrella term for a person that frequently likes to roleplay or a persona as something nonhuman.

A therian is - A therian is someone who identifies as a non human earthen animal either spiritually or psychologically. Therians can have "shifts" but not all do. All therians understand that they cannot physically shift and are not physically an animal, they know they are physically human.

Therians are a category that fall under otherkin. Otherkin is anyone who identifies as non human. This includes therians, mythkin, fictionkin, plankin, etc. Not all therians are spiritual, some are psychological and not all therians have a connection with their theriotype.

The difference - A therian is someone who identifies as an animal(aka someone who experiences therianthropy). A furry is someone who likes anthropomorphic animals, this affinity can be for the art, costumes(fursuits), videogames, etc. A furry usually has a fursona representation of themself but isn't required.

Also Therian, otherkin and being a furry are good coping mechanisms for anxiety so uh chile anyways-

Respect people for their hobbies and don't tell them to kill themselves over it. A child that was a furry themself, killed themselves because of the hate and bullying they received. Alot of the responses to it were disgusting and angering. Most of them weren't even sorry.

Also how dare you use my favourite studio ghibli movie for this piece of crap meme thats not even funny or relatable in the slightest. Anyway you all should go watch Princess Mononoke and the other studio ghibli films, they are amazing.
