Hearts Reunited
The next day, BTS departed for Korea once again, catching an early morning flight. Y/N and Saanvi went to the airport to see them off. After bidding them farewell, they returned to their room, freshened up, and headed to the MAE headquarters for their training.
The soft hum of the evening filled the air as Y/N and Saanvi tried to unwind from their long day. But while Y/N managed to find some semblance of calm, Saanvi was far from it. She kept glancing at her phone, her mind swirling with thoughts of Jungkook.
"He must have landed by now," she thought, her frustration growing. "Not even a single message. All those big words, and now he's forgotten me. Huh." She considered sending him a message but then sighed, realizing she didn't have his contact information. "I'll ask Y/N," she decided. "Yeah, that's a good idea. I'll ask her for his number."
But she quickly second-guessed herself. "No, no, no, Saanvi. You know if you ask Y/N, she'll tease you to no end." Her internal battle raged on, and Y/N, noticing her friend's turmoil, couldn't help but be amused. She decided to let Saanvi stew a little longer before stepping in.
Suddenly, the silence was broken by the sound of Y/N's phone ringing from the other room where it was charging. She walked over and saw its video call and Jungkook's name flashing on the screen. Surprised, she picked up the phone.
"Hello, my dear princess. How are you? Missing me, BTS, and your Tae?" Jungkook asked, flashing his adorable bunny smile at Y/N.
Y/N rolled her eyes and responded, "Just tell me what you want. No need for this act, monkey."
"Me, acting? I'm naturally this charming. And you, my lovely princess, I just called to see if you were missing me," Jungkook said, scratching his nape sheepishly.
"Okay, you've seen me now, and I'm perfectly fine. So, bye. I'm ending the call," Y/N said, trying to suppress her laughter and pretending to be disinterested.
"Wait, wait, don't hang up! I need a favour," Jungkook hurriedly exclaimed when he saw Y/N about to end the call.
"Ah, I knew it. There's no way you'd be this sweet without needing something. Sly monkey," Y/N chuckled. "Alright, what do you need?"
"Y/N, I actually need to talk to Saanvi, but in my hurry, I forgot to get her contact number," Jungkook admitted, hesitating slightly.
"Can't handle being in Korea without her, huh? Missing her that much?" Y/N teased.
"N-no, it's just that she became a good friend in such a short time, and I wanted to stay in touch," Jungkook stammered, knowing Y/N would make him work for the number.
"Okay, I'll give you her number, but on one condition," Y/N said, laughing.
"What condition?" Jungkook asked, curious.
"Call me Noona (elder sister)", Y/N said, still laughing.
"What?" Jungkook was taken aback. "Noona? You? Never. First of all, you're younger than me, and now you want me to call you Noona? Impossible. Forget it. Not even in your dreams," Jungkook shook his head, refusing adamantly.
"Okay then. You can forget about Saanvi's number," Y/N said with a wink, reaching to end the call.
"N-Noona," Jungkook whispered, avoiding eye contact.
"What? I didn't hear you," Y/N said with a chuckle.
Jungkook sighed, "Fine. NOONA. Now, can you please give me her number, Noona?" He was frustrated, thinking about how he had to call the girl he once liked "Noona" because of her stubbornness.
Y/N laughed heartily at Jungkook's antics. "Good boy. I'll send you her number." She then texted him Saanvi's number.
After ending the call, she walked back into the living room where Saanvi was waiting eagerly. "Whose call was that?" Saanvi asked.
"Jungkook's," Y/N replied with a smile.
"Oh, what did he say?" Saanvi asked hesitantly.
"Not much, just that they arrived safely and are resting," Y/N said, trying to suppress her smile.
"He didn't ask anything about me?" Saanvi asked, curious and avoiding eye contact. She was thinking, "Oh God, I hope Y/N doesn't think I'm desperate. Why would I be desperate? I just want to talk."
"No, he didn't mention anything about you," Y/N said, barely controlling her laughter. Raising an eyebrow, she added suspiciously, "You guys must have exchanged numbers that night in the garden, right?"
Saanvi's eyes widened in surprise. Stammering, she said, "W-w-what garden? What are you talking about?"
"Oh, come on. Like I don't know. I was in the garden too, but when I saw you two love birds, I didn't want to disturb you, so I left," Y/N teased, laughing.
Saanvi turned red with embarrassment. She shouted, "W-we're not love birds! I just went to the garden, and he happened to come too, so we talked for a bit." With that, she stormed off to her room.
Saanvi was both angry and sad, thinking, "Huh... If he doesn't care about me, why should I think about talking to him? He didn't even ask Y/N about me once."
Meanwhile, Y/N was laughing uncontrollably on the couch, amused by their behaviour. She could tell that a new pair of love birds was about to take flight soon.
Inside her room, Saanvi paced back and forth, clutching her phone. She thought about the moments she and Jungkook had shared in the garden that night. It was an unexpected but delightful encounter. They had talked about everything under the stars, from music to their dreams, and in that brief time, she felt a connection she couldn't ignore.
"I can't believe I didn't get his number," she muttered to herself, sitting on the edge of her bed. She toyed with the idea of asking Y/N again but quickly dismissed it, knowing her friend would only tease her more. She sighed and decided to distract herself by browsing through social media, but her mind kept drifting back to Jungkook.
Back in the living room, Y/N was still chuckling to herself when she received a text from Jungkook thanking her for Saanvi's number. She couldn't resist replying with, "Don't forget to call me Noona next time too!"
Jungkook's reply came swiftly, "In your dreams."
Later that night, as Saanvi lay in bed, her phone buzzed with a message. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw it was from an unknown number.
"Hey, it's Jungkook. Hope I'm not bothering you. Just wanted to check in and see how you're doing."
A smile spread across Saanvi's face as she quickly typed back, "Hey, Jungkook! Not at all, I'm glad you reached out. How's Korea?"
They continued to chat late into the night, the distance between them shrinking with each message. Saanvi's earlier frustration melted away, replaced by the warmth of their conversation.
3 months later
"Hello, Korea! I'm here again, but not as a trainee, as a proud diplomat," Y/N announced to herself, standing outside the bustling airport.
She spotted two people holding signs with her name. Of course, they were from the embassy: one was her personal assistant, and the other was her personal bodyguard. Taehyung had wanted to pick her up himself, but Y/N had diplomatic responsibilities to attend to, and the embassy had to assist her with official matters.
On the other hand, Saanvi had also been posted as a proud diplomat, but in Japan, which was conveniently close to Korea.
Both Y/N and Saanvi reported to their respective embassies upon arrival. They completed all necessary paperwork before heading to their assigned apartments.
Y/N had made a special request to live in the same apartment she had stayed in as a trainee, conveniently located next to Taehyung's place. Interestingly, Jungkook had also moved to a new apartment nearby, making him Y/N's office neighbour since his new place was close to the Indian embassy.
Y/N was greeted warmly at the embassy. The staff welcomed her back with open arms, impressed by her transformation from a trainee to a diplomat. After completing her paperwork and introductory meetings, she was given a brief about her responsibilities and the upcoming events she would need to attend.
"I see you've chosen to stay at your old apartment," her personal assistant, Ruhi, remarked with a smile. "It must feel like coming home."
"Absolutely," Y/N replied. "It holds a lot of memories."
As Y/N settled into her familiar surroundings, she couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia. The streets, the local cafes, and even the scent of the air brought back a flood of memories from her trainee days. She was excited to reconnect with old friends.
Taehyung knocked on Y/N's door that evening, unable to contain his excitement. "Welcome back, Princess" he greeted with a warm hug.
"Thank you, Tae" Y/N replied, laughing. They hugged, and it felt so warm.
"Let's celebrate your return. Dinner at mine house" Taehyung suggested.
"Absolutely," Y/N agreed. "But first, I need to unpack."
As they were chatting, Jungkook arrived. "I heard our new diplomat neighbour, who is the sly fox, is back," he said, grinning.
"Hey, Bandar!," Y/N said, hugging him.
"Good to see you, Princess. And welcome back. I guess we'll be seeing a lot of each other, now that we're office neighbours too," Jungkook said, his smile widening.
Meanwhile, in Japan, Saanvi was also settling into her new role. Her apartment was cozy and modern, and she had a stunning view of Tokyo. She had been welcomed warmly by her colleagues at the embassy and quickly got down to work.
Despite the excitement of her new role, she missed Y/N and the late-night conversations they used to have. But knowing that Y/N was just a short flight away made her feel a little less homesick.
That evening, everyone gathered at Taehyung's place for a special dinner to welcome Y/N back. The entire BTS crew was thrilled to have her back in Korea. As soon as Y/N walked in, she was greeted with warm hugs from everyone.
"Y/N! Welcome back!" Jimin exclaimed, wrapping her in a tight hug. "We missed you so much."
"Thanks, Jimin. I missed you guys too," Y/N replied, beaming.
As everyone settled into the living room, Jimin couldn't help but comment, "Seeing this love bird together makes me feel so single."
"Then find your own special someone," Taehyung smirked, playfully nudging him.
Jimin turned to Y/N with a mischievous glint in his eye. "Is your friend Saanvi single? If she is, set me up," he said, winking.
"What do I look like, a dating service?" Y/N said, rolling her eyes.
Everyone burst into laughter, enjoying the playful banter. However, there was one person who didn't find it amusing at all. Jungkook's jaw clenched at the mention of Y/N setting Jimin up with someone.
As they moved to the dining table, the atmosphere was filled with chatter and laughter. The table was laden with delicious dishes, a mix of Korean favourites and some international cuisines, reflecting the diverse tastes of the group.
"Y/N, how's your new role as a diplomat?" Namjoon asked, genuinely interested.
"It's been amazing so far. Busy, but rewarding," Y/N replied. "And it's great to be back here with all of you."
"I'm glad you're back too," Taehyung said, raising his glass. "To Y/N and new beginnings!"
"Cheers!" everyone echoed, clinking their glasses.
"By the way, Lomdi, when is your friend coming to Korea?" Jungkook asked, looking expectantly at Y/N.
"Don't call me Lomdi, or I won't talk to you," Y/N interrupted, pretending to be angry.
"Oh, my sweet princess is upset," Jungkook teased, pinching her cheek.
"Jungkook, remove your hand," Taehyung said calmly, but with an edge to his voice.
"Is someone getting jealous?" Jin teased Taehyung, raising an eyebrow.
Jungkook pouted, "You didn't answer my question, Y/Nie."
"I didn't know you were so eagerly waiting for her. Why don't you invite her yourself? You already talk to her," Y/N chuckled, teasing him back.
"What? Jungkook talks to Saanvi outside the group too?" Jimin said, surprised.
"Looks like he's already set things up," Jimin pouted.
"We're just friends, Shorty Hyung," Jungkook laughed.
"You - you called me Shorty again! Let me show you what this shorty can do!" Jimin said, pretending to roll up his sleeves.
Everyone burst into laughter, watching the playful exchange.
"Enough, everyone. Let's eat quietly," Jin called out, trying to bring order.
"Okay, Eomma," Y/N chuckled, playing along.
"Of all people, our princess is the most mischievous," Jin sighed, looking at Y/N.
"And her influence makes the other maknaes mischievous too. It's like a virus," Hobi laughed.
The dinner continued with playful banter and laughter, everyone enjoying each other's company. As the night drew to a close, they remembered their early practice schedules for the next day. Everyone started heading home, except for Y/N, who had the next day off to settle in and arrange her essentials.
However, she didn't really need to worry, as the BTS members had already taken care of everything for their beloved princess. Y/N decided to stay at Taehyung's place a little longer to spend more time with him and help clean up the dishes.
"The beauty of coming back is finding that some things never change - like the love of friends and the comfort of home."
