Comfort

As Y/n's eyelids fluttered open, she glanced out of the plane window. The night enveloped the world below, yet a myriad of shimmering lights illuminated the landscape, painting a breathtaking tableau. The aircraft, poised for landing, descended gracefully amidst a tapestry of twinkling lights, casting an enchanting spell upon the scene.

Moments later, Y/n found herself amidst the bustling crowd outside the airport, scanning eagerly for her father. The night air crackled with anticipation as her father's excitement palpably filled the atmosphere. He had eagerly rushed to the airport, brimming with anticipation, eager to welcome his daughter back home.

And when she spotted her father, she couldn't contain her joy and excitement. With a burst of happiness, she exclaimed, "PAPA!" and dashed towards him, embracing him tightly, just like a child reuniting with their beloved parent.

Just as she was revelling in the warmth of her father's embrace, someone tapped her on the shoulder, interrupting the moment.

Y/n was taken aback and exclaimed, "What are you doing here?"

With a gleam of excitement, Saanvi replied, "Surprise, Cherry!"

Y/n, still puzzled, responded, "But you were supposed to come tomorrow, how did you get here before me?"

Saanvi beamed with excitement and explained, "I wanted to surprise you, so I said I'd come tomorrow. And now, I'm staying at your place tonight and heading home tomorrow."

Overwhelmed with joy, Y/n pulled Saanvi into a tight hug, as if they had been separated for years, tears of happiness welling up in her eyes at the sheer joy of their reunion.

Interrupting their conversation, Y/n's father chimed in, "Are you two going to chat all night here, or are we heading home?"

Both giggled and replied, "Yes, yes, let's go home."

Settling into the car, Y/n remarked, "It feels like I'm coming back to India after so many years, even though it's only been three months. It feels so good. I can't wait to just relax in my room, on my bed."

"And you think I'll let you sleep? Not a chance! Tonight, you're going to spill all the beans about your time in Korea and about Jiju. I'm so excited to hear every little detail about you and Jiju. Then, tomorrow morning, I'll leave. After that, you can sleep," Saanvi said jokingly, chuckling in her usual playful manner.

After a while, both changed into comfortable clothes and came out. Y/n's mother had prepared hot, delicious food even at such a late hour because she knew the girls must be hungry... a mother's love.

As they were enjoying their meal, Y/n's brother suddenly opened Y/n's entire luggage. "Aaru, what are you doing in my stuff?"

He chuckled, saying, "Just seeing what treasures you've brought me from Korea."

Y/n abandoned her food, grabbed her slippers, and chased after him, while Aaru ran away, leaving the bag behind to avoid Y/n's wrath. "Aaru, I'm telling you, if my luggage isn't in the same condition as it was, I'll give you such a beating. And I won't even give you the things I brought for you from Korea."

"Alright, alright, I'll close your luggage, but only if you eat your food after leaving your slippers," Aaru said, running and laughing.

Y/n's parents and Saanvi watched, laughing and commenting, "Their Tom and Jerry routine has started as soon as they arrived."

After finishing dinner, everyone retired to bed. Once in their room, Saanvi initiated a KBC (means questions bank) session, bombarding Y/n with questions about Taehyung: "How's he doing? How much do you love him? What memorable moments have you shared? Tell me all the juicy details..." and so on. Despite already knowing everything, as Y/n used to share everything with her over the phone, Saanvi wanted to delve into more details.

Their conversation continued throughout the night, ranging from deep discussions to light-hearted banter, from sharing secrets to playful teasing, from pillow fights to exchanging friendly insults, and then bursting into laughter. They kept their voices down as everyone else was asleep, but their chatter continued softly, like a gentle stream, as they controlled themselves from getting too loud.

As dawn broke and a faint light filled the room, both Saanvi and Y/n began to feel drowsy, their eyelids growing heavy. Eventually, in the midst of their conversation, they drifted off to sleep, their bodies arranged haphazardly, with legs tangled and arms flung over each other.

When Y/n's mother woke up in the morning and saw their sleeping position, she couldn't help but facepalm, thinking to herself, "Oh God, they've grown up so much, yet their antics haven't changed. They were chatting away all night, and now that it's time to wake up, they're still asleep. What will become of them in life, I wonder."

She then woke Saanvi up, saying, "Saanvi, wake up. You're not going home; your mother is excitedly waiting for you there. Get up quickly..."

"I'll leave in the evening, Aunty. I'm feeling very sleepy right now," Saanvi replied irritably, still half-asleep.

"Truly, they're both like Kumbhakaran, that's why they get along so well," Y/n's mother muttered in annoyance before leaving, knowing that these two were not going to wake up anytime soon. She then called Saanvi's mother to inform her, "They're both still asleep, and they're sleeping as if they're lifeless logs, not even stirring. So Saanvi will come in the evening."

It was already 10 o'clock, and both of them were still fast asleep. Y/n's mother entered their room once again and woke Y/n up, saying, "Y/n, wake up... Look at the time."

"Mom, check the time yourself, I'm not sleeping on a watch," Y/n grumbled, shifting to the other side.

"Y/NNN...." Now her mother's voice was tinged with annoyance, and Y/n quickly sat up, feigning innocence. "I'm up, Mom, see?"

"Good, now wake her up too and both of you freshen up for breakfast," she ordered before leaving the room.

With one eye half-open, they groggily got up, freshened up, and joined everyone for breakfast.

Afterwards, Saanvi announced that she was going home and would return in two days to shift to this place since she had to stay here for the next six months.

Y/n's mother suggested, "Why look for another room? Just stay here. Since both of you have to go to the same place for work, it makes sense to live together."

"No, Aunty, it's not just for a day or two. It's for six months, and besides, the Ministry of External Affairs headquarters is nearby, so I'll rent a room there to save commuting time," Saanvi explained, trying to reason with Y/n's mother.

"Yeah, Mom, I was also thinking we could share a room and stay near the headquarters. It'll save time for sleeping," Y/n added, and they both burst into laughter.

"Well, it seems like making commuting easier and having more time to sleep is the priority, not work," Y/n's mother sighed, exasperated with their antics and reasoning.

As Saanvi bid farewell and departed for her home, Y/n found herself enveloped in the warm embrace of her family's love and attention. Despite her maturity, she remained the apple of their eye, cherished and adored. Returning home after such a long time, she felt like she had slipped back into the rhythm of her family's embrace effortlessly.

After so many days, she had returned home, and everything was revolving around her preferences. Her favourite dishes were being cooked, her words were being heard, and her decisions were being sought. These two days were spent happily with her family. They enjoyed every moment, relishing the homemade delicacies cooked by her mother and spending quality time together; Y/n found solace in the familiar comfort of her mother's lap, basking in the unconditional love that enveloped her.

As the days melted away in the warmth of familial bonds, Y/n couldn't help but marvel at the simple joys of being home. Time seemed to slow down, allowing her to savour each precious moment spent with her loved ones. Before she knew it, the two days had passed in a whirlwind of happiness, leaving behind cherished memories that would last a lifetime.

And finally, after two days, Saanvi was back. Now, the room hunt began in earnest. After a day of searching, they finally found a room they liked, conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from the headquarters. With the room secured, they returned home, exhausted from the day's adventures, and after dinner, they fell asleep immediately, knowing that the next day would involve shifting to their new place and starting their training.

The next morning, they woke up like responsible adults without needing to be prompted. After breakfast, they packed their belongings and set off. Upon arrival, they cleaned the room and unpacked, arranging everything neatly. By the time they finished, evening had descended, and darkness was setting in. Feeling hungry, they decided to explore nearby and grab a bite to eat before returning to their room for some rest.

After dinner, as they were returning, the weather was pleasant, so they decided to take a stroll in the park. They bought ice cream and sat down, enjoying the game of hide and seek as the moon played with the clouds. It was springtime, and a gentle breeze swept through the air. This moment was truly refreshing, alleviating the weariness of the day, and just then, Y/n's phone rang showing "Tae"

"Oooo, Jiju..." Saanvi interjected, teasingly.

"Shut up," Y/n said, blushing slightly at Saanvi's teasing before answering the call, adjusting her collar and fixing her hair because it was a video call.

Y/n: Hello Tae... What's up?

Tae: Just got home and was about to play video games when I started missing you. So, thought I'd call. Has the shifting happened?

Y/n: Yes, it's done, and I'm tired...

Just then, Saanvi jumped in, "Hello, Jiju!"

Taehyung was taken aback by Saanvi's sudden appearance. Y/n chuckled and said, "Tae... this is my bestie Saanvi, the one I've been talking about."

Taehyung: Ohh... Hello Saanvi. How are you?

And so, the three of them chatted for a while. Saanvi, revelling in her role as the playful troublemaker, teased both of them mercilessly. After a while, the call ended.

"Wow... it's so much fun being the third wheel in your love life," Saanvi chuckled.

"Idiot..." Y/n sighed, slightly irritated, but with a hint of amusement.

And with laughter echoing in their memories and joyous banter lingering in the air, they returned to their room. After settling in, they both called their families to let them know they had arrived safely. As they lay down on their beds, exhausted from the day's events, they drifted off to sleep, thinking about how tomorrow they would once again resume their training, this time at the headquarters of the Ministry of External Affairs.

"In the simple moments of togetherness, we find the true richness of life."
