Against the Tide of Hate
After talking to Jungkook, Taehyung turned to y/n, his expression serious but gentle. "Princess, go back to your apartment and stay with Saanvi," he said, his voice steady. "We're heading to the company, and then we'll figure out what to do about this situation."
He walked over to the coat rack, grabbing his jacket and car keys with swift, determined movements. As he started to head out the door, he suddenly stopped, a thought flashing across his mind. Turning back, he saw y/n watching him with concern.
"One more thing," he added, his eyes meeting hers. "Stay off social media for a while. Don't check it. Things might get messy online, and I don't want you to get caught up in that. Remember, I'm always here for you."
Y/n felt a warmth spread through her at his words. Despite the turmoil, his support was unwavering. She managed a small smile, trying to reassure him. "I'm okay, Tae. You go handle things."
Taehyung gave her a lingering look as if making sure she was really alright. Then, with a nod, he headed out, his footsteps echoing in the hallway. The door closed behind him, leaving Y/n standing there, feeling a mixture of worry and comfort. She took a deep breath, grateful for Taehyung's care, and decided to focus on the here and now, taking things one step at a time.
Once they reached the company, Taehyung and Jungkook quickly made their way to the manager's office. The atmosphere was tense as they discussed the best course of action regarding the situation.
Meanwhile, despite Taehyung's advice, y/n found herself unable to resist the pull of social media. Sitting on the couch with Saanvi, she scrolled through endless comments. Each post was a mix of harsh criticisms, cruel insults, and outright lies. Some people were demanding personal information, and trying to track down their social media accounts. Fortunately, their profiles remained undiscovered for now.
As y/n and Saanvi read through the messages, they felt a mix of emotions. Sadness crept in with each hateful comment, especially those that twisted the truth and hurled offensive language. Saanvi sighed, shaking her head. "People can be so harsh," she muttered, her eyes narrowing at the screen.
Y/n nodded, her fingers trembling slightly as she continued to scroll. "Yeah, it's like they don't even see us as real people," she replied softly. They shared a moment of silent understanding, both feeling the weight of the virtual assault.
Yet, amidst the negativity, a flicker of resilience burned within them. They had anticipated this kind of backlash and had tried to mentally prepare themselves. "Remember what we talked about?" Saanvi said, her tone more determined. "We knew this might happen. We just have to stay strong."
Y/n took a deep breath, nodding in agreement. "You're right. We knew it wouldn't be easy. But we're not alone in this."
Their resolve was bolstered by the knowledge that their loved ones stood by them, offering unwavering support and understanding. This solidarity gave them the strength to endure the online storm. Despite the barrage of negativity, they clung to the belief that this, too, shall pass, and they would emerge stronger on the other side.
Two hours later, y/n's phone rang. It was Taehyung calling from the company. "Y/n, bring Saanvi and come to the company. Make sure you're both well-prepared-we need to hold a press conference."
As soon as the call ended, y/n noticed a flood of notifications on her social media. Saanvi checked her phone too, realizing that people had found their accounts. The comments were filled with threats, insults, and mocking remarks.
"Leave it, Cherry. Let's get ready," Saanvi said, taking y/n's phone from her hands. "The car should be here soon to pick us up."
Y/n nodded, feeling a mix of anxiety and determination. They both knew the importance of presenting a strong front at the press conference. Despite the digital assault, they needed to face the public with confidence and clarity.
Once they were ready, y/n and Saanvi arrived at the company, stepping out to face the waiting media. Taehyung held y/n's hand, and Jungkook held Saanvi's, as they emerged together as a couple, their determination clear despite the nervousness visible in their eyes.
The press conference room was filled with reporters, cameras flashing incessantly. As they took their seats, the buzz of questions and murmurs filled the air. Taehyung and Jungkook each took a microphone, preparing to address the gathered press.
Taehyung began, his voice steady but tense. "Okay, let me make my confession first." He glanced at Jungkook, who nodded supportively, then looked at y/n, who gave him a small, encouraging smile.
"So yeah, I'm dating this girl. Her name is Y/n, and she's from India," Taehyung announced, squeezing Y/n's hand gently.
"And I'm dating this girl, Saanvi," Jungkook continued, looking at Saanvi with a reassuring smile. "Both girls are best friends."
The room erupted in whispers and camera clicks. Taehyung took a deep breath before speaking again. "We've already gotten engaged and just returned from India today. We were planning to surprise our fans, the ARMY, in a day or two, but this surprise turned into a disaster."
Jungkook's expression turned serious as he added, "We never expected such a reaction from the ARMY. It's really disheartening. We thought the ARMY loved us and would want to see us happy, but it seems we were mistaken."
Taehyung spoke with sadness in his voice, "If our girls are receiving hate, it's the same as hating us. I love y/n and I want to see her happy."
Jungkook nodded in agreement. "These hate comments aren't just hurtful-they're devastating. I've seen the things people are saying on social media, without knowing or understanding the truth. They're threatening, abusing, and mocking us."
Taehyung's voice wavered as he continued, "When I see these comments, I can't help but think, does she really deserve all this hate and abuse just for loving me? Is this her punishment for loving me?" His throat tightened with emotion, and he paused to gather himself.
Jungkook placed a comforting hand on Taehyung's back, then spoke up, "ARMY, we truly love these women, and it hurts us deeply to see them treated this way. We request you all to please stop these hateful comments. They deserve to be loved and accepted too."
Taehyung's voice was filled with hope as he concluded, "I hope the ARMY can love and accept them as much as they love us and accept our relationship."
The room fell silent for a moment as the gravity of their words sank in, and the media captured every raw, emotional second of the confession. The girls, though visibly shaken, held their heads high, supported by the unwavering love of Taehyung and Jungkook.
Once Taehyung and Jungkook finished addressing the media, they handed the microphones to y/n and Saanvi. Taking a deep breath, y/n started to speak.
"Okay, ARMY, I don't have much to say," y/n began. "I'm also one of you, and I understand how you must be feeling hearing this news."
Saanvi chimed in, "And I completely understand your mental state right now because, even before meeting them, we had similar thoughts and scenarios in our minds, which made us feel sad. But this is real news."
Y/n continued, "We just want to ask that you take your time to verify all the information and check the facts thoroughly. But please, don't spread fake rumours."
Saanvi added, "Once you're satisfied and have all the facts, then please accept us and give us your blessings. But in the meantime, please avoid making hateful comments. We're human too, and it hurts. Please, ARMY."
Y/n smiled warmly, her eyes reflecting sincerity. "Yeah, and I promise I will do my best to keep your idol happy and love him wholeheartedly."
The sincerity in their voices was palpable, and the room grew quiet as the media and fans absorbed their heartfelt words.
With that, the press conference concluded, and everyone headed home. Taehyung, Jungkook, y/n, and Saanvi went to Taehyung's apartment, where they sat together, sipping hot chocolate and trying to unwind from the stressful day.
Y/n, unable to resist, decided to check social media. To her surprise, she saw a mix of comments, with more supportive messages starting to appear among the hate.
"Look," Y/n said excitedly, showing her phone to Taehyung. "People are starting to accept us. Slowly, these hate comments will turn into love comments."
Taehyung smiled warmly at her. "Yeah, princess. Everything will be okay."
The next day, Saanvi had to leave for Japan as her holiday had ended and she needed to return to her duties. The atmosphere was still stressful, so Jungkook decided to go with her. With not much work on his plate at the moment, he thought spending some time with Saanvi would ensure she didn't feel alone.
Saanvi gave Jungkook a grateful smile. "Thank you. It means a lot to me that you're coming."
As they prepared to leave, y/n hugged Saanvi tightly. "Take care, and don't worry. We'll manage everything here."
Saanvi nodded, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "You too. Stay strong, and we'll stay in touch."
Taehyung clapped Jungkook on the shoulder. "Take care of each other. We'll handle things here and make sure everything calms down."
With final goodbyes and promises to stay in touch, Jungkook and Saanvi left for the airport.
The next day, y/n returned home from work in the evening, accompanied by her assistant and bodyguard. As she scrolled through her phone, she noticed that the majority of comments were now supportive and filled with love. Though a few hateful comments persisted, she understood that opposition would always exist. However, the overall positive feedback was a comforting sign that acceptance was growing.
Upon arriving home, as y/n stepped out of the car, a masked figure suddenly emerged from behind and attempted to attack her with a knife. Her bodyguard, reacting swiftly, intervened, grabbing the attacker's arm and disarming them. He removed the mask, revealing a teenage girl, around 17 or 18 years old.
The girl began to cry and scream, "Leave me alone! Y/n, you won't survive this. How dare you date my man!"
The bodyguard held her firmly as y/n's assistant quickly called the police. The scene was chaotic, but the bodyguard managed to keep the attacker restrained until the authorities arrived.
Shortly after, Taehyung, Suga, and y/n were at the police station, dealing with the situation. The girl, now in custody, continued to plead with y/n. "Please, don't file a report. I promise I won't do this again. Just let me go."
Y/n felt a pang of sympathy for the distressed girl, wanting to understand her motives and perhaps offer some leniency. She considered her request, hoping to show mercy. However, Taehyung and Suga were resolute, their expressions firm with concern.
"We can't just let this go," Taehyung said, his voice steady. "She needs to face the consequences of her actions."
Suga nodded in agreement. "We have to ensure our safety and that of others. It's not just about us-it's about making sure this doesn't happen again."
The police took statements from everyone involved and began their investigation.
The police informed y/n with a serious tone, "Ma'am, you need to understand the severity of this situation. As a diplomat, your safety is our country's responsibility. If we don't take action, it could affect our international relations and undermine the security protocols we have in place."
Y/n nodded, feeling the weight of their words. She understood that, despite her personal feelings of sympathy towards the attacker, there were broader implications to consider.
"I see," Y/n replied, her voice steady despite the turmoil she felt inside. "I'll cooperate with the investigation. I understand the need to ensure safety and maintain diplomatic relations."
The police assured her that they would handle the situation appropriately and keep her updated on the progress. As they left the station.
"In the world of fame, love is both a shield and a target."
