Wings of Destiny

I awoke to the serene hum of an alien world, bathed in the rich, vibrant green of a glade unlike any I had seen before. The air was thick with the scent of strange, luminous flowers that hummed softly in the breeze. The ground beneath me was soft, like moss but warmer, and the leaves above were so large they seemed to stretch into a sky far too expansive for the ordinary eye. The sun here was soft, filtering through a canopy of thick trees that dripped with light like gold threads.

Strange bulbous creatures wandered nearby, their movements slow and peaceful. One of them, a round-bodied creature with small flaps for ears, lowed gently at me before continuing its path across the glade, its large eyes reflecting the quiet peace of the moment. I smiled, feeling the odd sense of peace wash over me, and instinctively touched the spot on my chest where the bandages had once been. But now, they were gone. My skin was whole, though still humming faintly with the power of recent healing.

I then realized something else: I was no longer in the tattered remnants of battle-worn armor but clothed in a flowing silk dress, the fabric shimmering with every movement, the colors shifting like the sky at twilight. It was light and airy, but the back and shoulders were exposed to the warm sun, which kissed my skin with a gentle warmth. My wings, golden and vast, unfurled instinctively—stretching wide with the freedom of the moment. I marveled at them for a brief second before the soft sound of voices interrupted my peace.

"Look over here," a male voice called, and I instinctively turned my head, my wings disappearing in a shimmer as I focused on the newcomers.

Two young adults came rushing toward me, a girl with bright eyes, her hair braided down her back, and a young man whose presence was strong, but there was a palpable gentleness to him. His eyes flickered with caution and curiosity as they both stopped in front of me, eyes scanning my appearance and the unfamiliar surroundings with clear suspicion.

The young man immediately drew his weapon, a glowing blue blade that hummed with energy. A lightsaber. The shape, the energy—it triggered a vague, distant memory I could not place, but it was familiar. He pointed the blade at my chest, his stance defensive but with a certain quiet authority.

"Who are you?" he demanded, his voice steady but wary.

I stood slowly, unbothered by his weapon and, in fact, towering over him by several inches. A soft chuckle escaped my lips, not out of mockery but with the calm certainty of a being who had lived through far worse. I met his gaze with a smile that didn't falter, a slight warmth in my eyes as I spoke.

"I am Nyx," I said softly, "and I'm here to help."

For a moment, the world seemed to hold its breath. The girl beside him, wide-eyed and wary, didn't move an inch. The young man hesitated, his grip on the lightsaber tightening slightly, but his posture loosened, just a fraction. They could sense something—the same power that radiated from the land itself, something vast and old, a presence that resonated deep in the fabric of this world.

They were still unsure, but the spark of hope in my heart remained steady.

"Help?" the girl asked, her voice laced with disbelief.

I nodded, glancing down at the lightsaber, then back to the man. "Yes. This world needs guidance. You need someone to help you understand what is coming, and I can offer that." I stepped forward, my bare feet brushing against the soft earth, my wings flexing slightly behind me in a way that made my presence undeniable.

The boy's grip on his weapon loosened, though he did not sheath it. The girl, still cautious but curious, stepped forward as well, her gaze shifting between the two of us.

"Why should we trust you?" the young man asked, his voice still guarded, yet there was something in his eyes that asked for more than just words.

I met his gaze, my smile gentle but resolute. "Because the universe has already chosen me," I answered simply, "and I am not here to bring harm."

Anakin's gaze lingered on me for a moment longer than necessary, clearly still sizing me up, but he eventually sighed and sheathed his glowing blue lightsaber. The hum of the blade faded as he clipped it to his belt. His expression softened, a flicker of recognition passing through his eyes, though whether it was for my words or my presence, I couldn't tell.

"Very well," he muttered, finally relenting.

Padmé, standing beside him, gave me a cautious but warm smile. She was composed, but I could sense the faintest edge of curiosity in her, a feeling I understood well. In a world full of uncertainty, it wasn't easy to trust a stranger, especially someone who appeared out of nowhere and claimed to be here to help. Still, her poise and grace were undeniable, and her eyes held a quiet strength.

"I'm Anakin Skywalker," he said, his voice steadier now, as he gestured to the woman beside him. "And this is Padmé Amidala."

I nodded with an amused glint in my eyes. "Nice to meet you both," I said, my tone light. The tension seemed to lift slightly as they introduced themselves, though I noticed Anakin's cheeks flush faintly. His attention briefly flickered to my attire, and I couldn't help but smirk at the awkwardness of the moment.

"Come," Anakin continued, trying to cover his sudden discomfort, "We better get you to our suite, where we can get you something better than just a dress and undergarments." His words were rushed, and the faint redness on his face was a clear indicator of how embarrassed he felt. It wasn't lost on me how quickly he'd offered hospitality—perhaps more out of necessity than politeness, but it still had the effect of softening my own guarded exterior.

I chuckled softly, raising an eyebrow, the playful smirk on my lips growing more pronounced. "I'm sure I can manage in this," I teased, my golden wings fluttering slightly behind me, but the look I gave them both softened the edge of my words. "But thank you for the offer."

Padmé's eyes flicked to Anakin briefly, her smile widening just a little as she caught the unspoken exchange. "It's no trouble," she replied, stepping toward me with a calm, reassuring presence. "We can get you settled in, and then you can tell us more about yourself—and your mission here."

I nodded, intrigued by their willingness to trust me, even if just for a moment. "Lead the way," I said, gesturing toward their path with a fluid motion, a flicker of curiosity beginning to dance in my eyes. The glade we stood in felt like a dream, but there was so much more to this world—and to the people before me. I needed to know what made them tick, what troubles they faced, and how I could help, if I was to fulfill the mission the universe had given me.

Anakin led the way, his steps confident though his eyes lingered on me for a moment longer. Padmé followed closely, her steady gaze never wavering. As we walked through the vibrant greenery, I could feel the pulse of the planet beneath my feet, alive with energy, much like the people I was accompanying.

I had a mission to complete. But for now, it seemed, the first step was to learn about this world and its protectors, and that journey began with these two—their destinies entwined in ways I had yet to fully understand.

"Lead the way," I murmured again, almost to myself, as I followed them toward what would surely be the beginning of something bigger than I could have anticipated.
