Chapter 46: Threads of Fate

The air in the dimly lit room felt thick with tension, almost suffocating as Shigaraki glared at me, his eyes burning with cold contempt. He casually chewed a mouthful of shredded beef, the sound of his teeth grinding into the meat somehow more unsettling than the silence that stretched between us. His gaze, piercing and relentless, never wavered from mine as he swallowed, his voice dripping with a dangerous amusement.

"You're too cute to break, really," he murmured, his tone colder than ice, a sickening hint of curiosity swirling beneath his words. The way his lips curled into a twisted smirk made something in my chest tighten with warning. He was testing me—waiting to see if he could shatter the mask I wore.

He didn't have a chance.

Without breaking my gaze, he casually gestured toward one of his abominations—a grotesque, monstrous Nomu with its brain exposed, twitching unnaturally in the corner. Its body, a malformed collage of flesh and muscle, twitched in response to his command. The creature snarled, its twisted eyes locking onto me with savage intent.

"Make her stay down," Shigaraki ordered, his voice casual, as if he were directing the Nomu to fetch a drink. His confidence was palpable, but it only fueled my amusement.

I chuckled softly, a sound that rippled through the room like an unexpected breeze, unsettling and defiant. "You misunderstand me, Shigaraki," I said, my voice steady, laced with an authority that rivaled his own. "I'm not some fragile doll for you to break or manipulate. I am the queen of the universe."

Time seemed to stretch and bend around my words, and as I spoke, my fingers moved without hesitation. A flick of my wrist, a snap of my thumb and index finger, and the world around me shifted. The Nomu, charging towards me with brutal speed, froze mid-stride. Its form hung suspended in the air, a grotesque statue locked in a moment of incomprehensible stillness. The malicious glint in its eyes faded to a dull void, the menace it carried reduced to nothing more than a twisted piece of art, frozen in time.

The room went eerily quiet, the air thick with the tension of a power clash too close to call. Shigaraki's smirk faltered, and for the first time, I saw a flicker of uncertainty in his red eyes. His jaw tightened, the casual arrogance he wore like a cloak slipping for just a moment.

I tilted my head slightly, my blindfold not hiding the glint of amusement in my gaze. "You see," I continued, my voice dripping with superiority, "you are a villain, Shigaraki. But you're still a mortal—fragile—and I am not."

I allowed the Nomu to drop to the floor with a heavy thud, the creature's once-menacing form now completely lifeless, its power completely nullified in the face of mine. I let the silence settle before turning my gaze back to Shigaraki, watching his reaction with a calm, almost bored expression.

"Now, let's see what you do with me," I finished, my words a quiet challenge that hung heavily in the air, daring him to test me further.

The moment the words left my lips, the atmosphere shifted with a sharp, palpable tension. I could feel the eyes of the class and the villains alike on me, their stares heavy with a mixture of awe and disbelief. The whispers, the gasps, the shivers of uncertainty—it was like music to my ears.

I smirked, letting the satisfaction of their confusion settle for just a second before lifting my blindfold, revealing the piercing, otherworldly blue of my eye. It gleamed with a quiet, unyielding power. My gaze locked on Shigaraki, who was already staggering backward, his expression one of shock and realization. His face twisted in fear, and I felt an almost indescribable thrill ripple through me at the sight.

"I am Nyx Eternis, She Who Wields the Threads of Infinity," I declared, my voice dripping with confidence, a cool serenity that contrasted the chaos swirling around us. "And you will learn to respect me."

Shigaraki's lips parted in disbelief as he stumbled back, his voice shaking. "Y—you're not human!" he finally managed, the words barely escaping his trembling form.

I snorted, my smirk widening with amusement, my blindfold still held loosely in my hand. "You got that right," I replied, each word laced with an unspoken promise of power he could never hope to fathom.

The stunned silence hung thick in the air for just a moment before I stepped back, feeling the familiar presence of Aizawa landing beside me with the unmistakable weight of authority. His gaze was sharp, though there was a touch of concern beneath it as he met my eyes. "I thought I told you to stay close to me," he chided, his voice firm but laced with a quiet exasperation.

I chuckled at him, a mischievous glint in my eye. A playful smile tugged at the corners of my lips as I let the blindfold fall back into place. "Oh, Aizawa," I teased, my voice light and full of affection. "You are too gullible. I do whatever I wish."

His sigh was audible, but there was a flicker of a smile on his lips that he quickly masked. As always, he had my back, even when I played my own dangerous game. The villains around us were still frozen in disbelief, unsure whether to charge or retreat. But I had already won this battle. My power, my presence, was enough to break the silence and put the fear of a god into them.

Now, we would see how they reacted to a queen who ruled with threads of infinity at her command.

"Very well," Aizawa muttered, his voice laced with concern, though there was a determined edge to it. He loosened the cloth around his neck, preparing for what was to come. "But stay at least safe."

I raised an eyebrow at him, but before I could respond, he was already in motion, leaping toward a group of thugs that had tried to sneak up on us. His movements were fluid and precise, a perfect reflection of the experience he carried as a pro-hero. While he was cutting through the thugs, I remained focused on Shigaraki, who was still trembling under my gaze, his hands scratching his neck in agitation.

I smirked, watching as his unease grew. The Nomu, still frozen in place, loomed behind me like a twisted statue, its grotesque form suspended mid-motion. With a snap of my fingers, I let it move again. The creature jerked violently, its claws shredding at its own skull as if desperately trying to escape an unseen torment.

Shigaraki's eyes went wide, and he let out a startled cry. "What are you doing to it?" he demanded, his voice a mixture of confusion and panic. His hands twitched in frustration as he watched the Nomu slowly rip itself apart.

I let out a small, cruel chuckle, lifting my hand as blue magic danced around my fingers. "Oh, it's nothing, really," I replied, my tone light and almost playful. "Just making it want to tear itself apart."

Shigaraki staggered backward, his mouth hanging open as he watched his creation lose control. The Nomu's rage was now a manifestation of my will, an uncontrollable, mindless force that sought to destroy everything—including itself. It howled in agony, its claws digging deeper into its own flesh, and I could almost feel the sense of victory radiating from it.

Shigaraki's voice trembled as he shouted at me, "You're insane!" His eyes flickered to the Nomu, still writhing in agony, the once-dominant creature reduced to nothing more than a victim of my power.

I smiled, my gaze cold and unyielding. "Insane?" I mused, stepping closer to him. "No, Shigaraki. This is control. Something you'll never have."

The Nomu let out a final screech as it collapsed, the destruction of its own body complete. I was left standing amid the carnage, the air heavy with the tension of my power.

Aizawa, having dealt with his own group of thugs, turned to me, his eyes filled with concern. "Stay back, Nyx," he called out, his voice serious. "You don't need to engage any further." His protective tone had a hint of worry beneath it, even though he knew what I was capable of.

I chuckled, letting my blindfold fall back into place. "Oh, Aizawa, you worry too much." I smirked at him, knowing full well I was in control. "I do whatever I wish."

The villains were no longer a threat, their resolve shattered, and the students from UA had a front-row seat to witness what true power looked like. And Shigaraki... well, he was learning that the universe had far more to fear than his twisted ambitions.

I felt a shift in the atmosphere, a sense of primal presence creeping into the air. All Might was here at last. His immense aura filled the space, and even the villains seemed to tense at the very thought of facing him. I stepped back, letting him take the reins as the pro-hero, the symbol of peace. His arrival shifted the balance of the moment, but it wasn't his time yet. The chaos needed to subside first.

I turned my focus back to the students, only to find them... gone. A low growl rumbled in my chest as I scanned the area. They were scattered across the different zones, caught off guard and isolated, just as the villains had hoped. My eyes narrowed in frustration, but I didn't let panic take over.

I closed my eyes for a moment, drawing on another part of my power—Six Eyes, a gift that allowed me to see far beyond the ordinary, to pierce through dimensions themselves. A network of shimmering threads appeared in my mind, each one leading me to the scattered students. I could feel where they were, could see them hidden away in the labyrinth of USJ, some of them in the midst of dealing with thugs, others simply trapped and confused.

With a smirk, I snapped my fingers, and portals began to rip open in the air around me—six shimmering rifts that bent and twisted the space, connecting me to the very places the students were. I could hear their startled gasps as the rifts opened around them, pulling them from their scattered positions and yanking them back to where I stood. Some even dropped out of the portals, landing atop the thugs that had been ready to strike. The villains' faces twisted in surprise as they realized they were no longer in control of the situation.

The students were back, and they were now surrounded by the very chaos they had been thrown into, but this time, they were not alone. I grinned, satisfied with my work.

Before Aizawa could react or take down any of the remaining threats, I flicked my wrist, a burst of magic surging through the air. The remaining villains were caught in an instant, unable to react before they were overwhelmed by the force of the portals dropping students directly atop them. One thug found themselves smashed under the weight of a portal drop from Iida, while another found a punch from Kirishima to be the last thing they saw before their lights went out.

"Thanks for the assist," I muttered to the students as they regained their footing, their eyes wide with confusion but also awe at the power I had just displayed.

The villains were reeling, unable to grasp what was happening. I had taken back control, just as easily as I had taken the students from their scattered positions. It was almost too easy.

Aizawa, still fighting off a few of the thugs, gave me a brief nod. "You're getting a little too comfortable with this," he said, his voice flat but laced with approval.

I smiled, my eyes glinting beneath my blindfold. "I do whatever I wish, Aizawa. Haven't you figured that out by now?"

All Might, finally stepping forward, cracked his knuckles, his smile radiant even in the midst of chaos. "Alright, Nyx, you've had your fun," he said in his booming, friendly voice. "Now let's clean this up."

I stepped back, letting the pro-heroes take over. This was their domain, after all. But deep down, I knew the message had been sent loud and clear—no one, not even the strongest of villains, could outmaneuver me.

The students had seen it, the villains had felt it, and even All Might couldn't help but notice. This world was mine to command.
