After a Prospect had escorted her to the Teller house so she could help Tara with dinner, he left the two women alone and watched over the house from the outside until Happy and Jax would come. They still had some things to handle so he was the one keeping an eye on the women but especially Madison.
“Don't you think going to the police would be smarter?” Tara, after chopping some vegetables, got two wine glasses out of the cupboard and filled them with red wine and held one out to Madison. “I mean, this is a real threat you got, Mads.”
“No, they won't do shit. For them it's just a threat, they only take it seriously when I'm lying in a ditch”, the younger brunette said dryly and took a sip of the wine, stirring the noodles in the pot now and then. “I hate to bother the guys with this but they're the only people I can count on besides Jesse.”
“Mh..you're not wrong”, Tara sighed, hating to see her sister in law so upset. But it was no wonder, she would be upset too. “You think Steven could be behind this?”
Madison snorted a humorless laugh. “I wish I could say no but there's a small chance he actually is behind this. That sounds crazy, right? I mean, he's dead, I killed him. And now I'm not even sure about that anymore. Or maybe I'm just losing my mind.”
“You're not losing your mind, Madison”, Tara gave her a faint smile, bringing her hand up to her arm to give her some kind of comfort. “Let's think logically. You killed him, his case was in the news where it was also confirmed that he was found dead. So basically someone else must be behind all of this. Did he have relatives? Close friends?”
“Well, he had his parents but they knew he was sick so they probably didn't question his death much. No siblings and no real friends, maybe a few ones. But how could they know I killed him?” She had to be careful not to accidentally spill her own little secret. Sure, Tara was nice and all and they became good friends but she wasn't ready to share the same thing she shared with Happy only a few hours ago.
“All of this doesn't make fucking sense”, Madison added with a frustrated groan, put her glass down and drained the noodles in the sink.
“Hey, I'm sure the guys will find out who's behind all of this”, Tara nodded convincingly. To lighten up the mood a bit, the doctor decided to change the subject. “So, I heard Happy and you are spending every free minute together. Is there anything I should know?”
The brunette rolled her eyes in amusement as a smirk appeared on Tara's face while she threw all the chopped vegetables in a bowl and added some salad, yet Madison was glad Tara changed the subject.
“I told him I liked him and he seems to feel the same. He wanted to talk to me about it later when we're back at his house”, she said, the excitement in her voice outweighed everything else, which made Tara chuckle.
“How do you want it to go on? I mean, you guys haven't known each other that long, but I've never seen Happy so committed when it comes to a woman”, Tara winked, popping a piece of cheese in her mouth. “I think you would make a great couple. Do you know a little more about him now?”
“It's true that we haven't known each other that long, but I had a good feeling about him right from the start. Something about him captivated me the first time we met. I can't even say exactly what it was, but I know he makes me feel good and safe.” And that's exactly what was important in a relationship. To feel loved, understood and safe. At least, that's how Madison imagined the perfect relationship.
“And yes, he told me all about himself. Literally everything”, she added with a nod, still appearing relatively composed.
“And you're okay with what he's doing?” Sometimes it was still difficult for Tara to accept the crime and violence, but apparently it was all the easier for others.
“Why not?” With a questioning look and a curious gleam in her green eyes, she looked at her sister in law. “I killed someone myself, Tara, I can't judge anyone else for doing the same.”
“You killed someone to defend yourself. Happy kills people because it's his job and we can't deny that he's good at it, frighteningly good at times”, Tara pointed out.
“It's intimidating, yes. But Happy is a great person who is loyal and would give his life for the people he really loves. He's not a cold blooded killer with no conscience even if he seems like it”, Madison defended the heavily tattooed biker, lifting a corner of her mouth. “And I'm not just saying that because I have rose-colored glasses on.”
Tara, surprised and impressed at the same time, let Madison's words sink in. Happy just had the trait of being intimidating, scary, and yet he had to have a soft side. Otherwise Madison wouldn't be talking about him like that. But out of all the guys in the club, Happy was one she barely knew, simply because the killer wasn't a talkative person and they never really had a real conversation.
“I think you'll make a great couple should it come to that.” The smile on Tara's lips was genuine, Madison could tell for sure.
“I think so too”, the brunette hummed happily before both women got back to cooking, talking about the most random things while also taking care of the kids.

“Thanks for coming over.” Jax pulled his sister into his arms as she and Happy were already at the door. “Maybe you can stop by at mom's house tomorrow, she'd love to spend some time with you.”
“I'll do that”, she nodded with a smile and hugged Jax tightly, grateful that he had invited her and Happy over. She had already said goodbye to Tara before the doctor wanted to put the boys to bed. “Thanks for inviting us.”
“No problem, darlin'”, he winked and slapped Happy's back before letting them go. He knew that Happy still had a lot to discuss with her and didn't want to keep them both too long. If he'd do it later or in the morning didn't matter, he just wanted them to spend time together.
Once the door was closed, Happy put a hand on her tailbone and led her to his bike where he put his helmet on her and slid the clasp shut after brushing a few strands of her hair out of her face.
“What about my car?”, she asked, looking up at him, a permanent smile on her lips whenever she was near him. Yep, she was definitely in love.
“We'll get that tomorrow, I want you behind me on my bike”, he grunted with a slight grin, trailing some kisses down her jawline making her sigh softly. “Come on.”
After Happy got on his bike, she held onto his shoulders and got on his bike as well. Once seated, she wrapped her arms tightly around his lower body, her cheek resting against his back. It felt good to sit behind him, especially since she knew that he never let a woman ride with him.
Before he drove off, he slipped his hands under her thighs and pulled her even closer so there was really no space between them. When she gasped softly, a soft chuckle vibrated through his chest and shortly afterwards he started the engine.
The drive to his house only took a few minutes, but he took a few other routes to feel her behind him a little longer. He had to admit that it felt good to have a woman behind him, but he wouldn't accept anyone other than Madison on his bike⸺ unless it was an emergency and he had no other choice. Otherwise, that was her place from now on.
Her grip on around his torso tightened, her fingers intertwined as she closed her eyes, enjoying the wind blowing through the ends of her hair and the cool air hitting her face, calming her down.
Arriving at his house, a feeling of longing almost set in as both dismounted his bike. The ride seemed shorter than it was and she would have preferred to just keep going. At least she had forgotten about all the shit that was going on at the moment for a while.
“You okay, little girl?”, Happy asked after she handed him his helmet, which he hung on the handle of his bike before draping his arm over her shoulder.
“Yeah, I just enjoyed the ride”, she said softly, wrapping her arm around his waist as they strolled inside.
To be sure, Happy checked each room before allowing himself to relax his muscles. This shit with the weird letter made him fucking paranoid. Not because he was scared about his own safety, he didn't give a shit, but he was scared some psycho was waiting somewhere to get Madison and hurt her.
In the kitchen he quickly got a beer for himself and a Coke for her from the fridge and followed her into the living room.
“I talked to Jax about Albuquerque. He wants me to go with you so you don't have to go alone. If you want we can take the bike and have a prospect follow in a truck for your furniture”, he suggested after they were seated, turning on the TV for some background noise.
“You know how long the drive is, right?”, she asked with a chuckle, but she didn't have a problem sitting behind him for so long, on the contrary.
“The longer the better. You know you're sitting here with a motorcycle enthusiast, right?”, he asked in return with a smirk and took a sip of his beer. “We're going to have at least one longer break, but other than that it shouldn't be a problem. So, you wanna take the bike?”
“Yes! Of course I wanna take the bike. That's much more fun”, she exclaimed with a huge smile on her face, already feeling the excitement rising in her body. “Then I can show you a little bit of Albuquerque. Only if you want of course.”
“Sure, I want to know how and where you grew up”, he winked, but was really interested to see how she lived before she came here. “Do you wanna stay for a few days? Or do you just wanna get your stuff and drive back?”
Madison slid a little closer to him after he draped her legs over his lap and ran his fingertips over the thin fabric of her black fishnet tights, making her breath quicken and her stomach tingle.
“I'd like to stay for a few days, mainly because of Jesse”, she sighed, resting her head on the back of the couch.
He nodded understandingly and had no problem spending a few days in another town. “Why did he have to leave so suddenly?”
The brunette hesitated for a while, not sure if she should bring up Jesse's new job or not. But as she had sworn to herself earlier, she would not keep any secrets from Happy. And she was pretty sure Happy wouldn't judge her brother.
“So he can go about his new job with Mr. White”, she murmured, shaking her head, her eyes on the coke in her hand. “They cook meth together. I just found out today.”
“What the fuck?”, the SAA huffed. He was beginning to think his life was pretty boring compared to Madison's and her family's. One thing after the other seemed to happen in that family.
Basically, he couldn't care less what Jesse did, he was a criminal himself after all. But he was concerned that Madison might get involved in shady deals. Meth cooking and dealing was also mostly associated with drug cartels, and these people had no problem hurting family members if they wanted to prove they had the upper hand in the business. But he kept that to himself, Madison had enough to worry about right now.
“That was my first thought too”, she laughed nervously, running her fingers through her hair. “But he's old enough and it's his life. I'll always support him in everything, even though I'm not a fan of what he's doing right now.”
“That's a good attitude. But I want you to stay away from it, you hear me?” Happy rasped, running his fingertips under the hem of her black denim skirt. The brunette let out a contented sigh and ran her fingertips down the back of his neck.
“Don't worry, I don't wanna have anything to do with this”, she assured him. But right now she didn't want to talk about her brother's business but rather about what would happen to Happy and her now. “Uh, what's this between us, Hap?”
He grunted at her answer, glad that she wanted to voluntarily stay away from the drug business. Still, he could tell how worried she was for Jesse and that in turn made him sigh. Nevertheless, he wanted to talk about other things now. About things that affected him and Madison.
“What is it you want?”, he demanded, frowning.
“I want you.” Her reply came surprisingly confident, something that even surprised herself. But that's the way it was. She wanted him, all of him, and she wanted him to be hers and hers only.
“You already have me, little girl.” A shy yet triumphant smile graced her lips at his words, a gleam in her eyes that only confirmed that he wanted to be the one who would make her happy. “I suggest we just see where this all takes us.”
“That sounds like a plan”, she nodded in agreement, setting her can aside after taking another sip. Her next question made her feel a little stupid, but she wanted to know if they were trying a relationship. “So does that mean we're a couple now?”
“I want everyone to know that you belong to me, that nobody tries anything stupid. So yes, that's exactly what we are.” Happy moved closer to her, his face close to hers, and put a hand on the back of her neck, his lips entwining her in a deep, longing and again gentle kiss that made her weak for him.
“You're mine and only mine”, he growled close to her lips, his grip on her waist assertive and possessive just the way she loved it. The words that she was his and only his, triggered something in her that both touched her and turned her on.
“That's all I want⸺ to be yours”, she whispered, placing her lips on his again. She didn't care if others thought this was happening way too fast. She had a good feeling about it and even if it wasn't going to work out, at least she had made her own experience.
