In the last two days not much had happened. If that was a good sign or not Madison wasn't so sure about. Leaving Charming was still a no-no but she hoped Mr. White's statement would change that. Her old chemistry teacher has been here since yesterday and right now he was at the police station giving her an alibi while she was in her new apartment trying to distract herself as much as possible, yet her heart was beating like crazy.
What if they didn't believe him? He was a teacher, sure, but they never really had a relationship and didn't seem close. Madison, Jesse, Happy and Walter had met at a restaurant around the corner yesterday so they could talk things through, making sure they all would tell the same version of the alibi. Well, only Madison and Walt. Jesse wouldn't be part of the alibi and neither was Happy, of course.
What Walt had suggested to use as alibi left a bad taste in the brunette's mouth, yet it wasn't such a bad idea. Mr. White had suggested to tell them they had an affair and she didn't tell them right away because she was embarrassed about sleeping with her old teacher while he had a family at home. And even if the Cops would now think that she was a slut, at least it would get her out of this mess. And everyone else knew that she never had an affair with Walter White, so she was fine with it.
With a sigh, she put the paint roller down after cleaning it up a little and looked at her work. The wall where her bed would stand was now painted in an emerald green with a few golden waves that started in the top right corner and ended in the middle of the wall. A few more plants, her bed and dressing table and it would be perfect.
After she was done with that room she joined Happy in the living room and smiled at the pattern on her living room wall. Since Happy was the artist here he had offered to get it done for her after she told him yesterday how she would like to design her wall.
“You like it?”, he rasped, looking at her from the corner of his eye while he finished his work.
“It's perfect, I love it”, she hummed softly. The brunette meant her words, she wouldn't just say them to please him. “Thank you, Hap. I could've never done this without your help.”
“Told you I was going to help”, he said with a shrug and put the pencil down so he could grab her wrist and pull her closer to him. “You said you wanted to talk. What's going on, little girl?”
His intense stare made her all nervous again, causing a lump to form in her throat. Being this close to him where she could feel his breath on her skin made her heart beat twice as fast. Even after Gemma had encouraged her to have a talk with him about her feelings, she didn't know how to start.
Actually, she should have talked to him two days ago already and be honest about her feelings. But what did she actually feel? It couldn't be love, they didn't know each other long enough for that. But he was definitely important to her. And she was attracted to him. Also, when she was with him, she felt a certain sense of safety that she otherwise only felt when Jesse was near her. And she already fell for him, that was clear.
Happy only had to look at her and her knees went weak. Every time his lips touched hers, she felt a pleasant tingling sensation in her abdomen. When his hands roamed over her body, a certain warmth gathered between her legs. And her heartbeat was twice as fast every time she heard a bike, hoping it was him.
“I don't know where to begin to be honest”, she admitted, looking up at him, her arms wrapped loosely around his waist.
“Just say it”, he told her calmly, placing his hand on her exposed neck and letting his lips ghost over hers. Only a few strands of her curly hair that had fallen out of her messy bun hung in her face. That woman was a jackpot, absolutely beautiful and stunning. He wanted her so bad that he couldn't hardly think straight anymore.
Her shaky breathing was louder than she had hoped and made her blush for a moment, but feeling his lips ghosting over hers was driving her crazy and her body was asking for more, and Happy knew that. They both got pretty close last night, which is no wonder considering sharing a bed. It didn't come to sex, but secretly she would have wished for it and he probably did too.
“I think I fell f—” Annoyed by the sudden ringing of her phone, she groaned and got out of Happy's grip to see who was calling. It was none other than Walter White. With an apologetic look she looked up at Happy. “Sorry, I have to answer that.”
Happy just clenched his jaw and wanted to punch that Mr. White for disturbing the moment. Still, Madison's freedom was more important and he too wanted to know what the former chemistry teacher wanted from Madison.
He watched the brunette while she was on the phone, pacing around nervously and biting her nails, which she had been doing constantly for the past two days. He sighed and rubbed his face, hoping the guy had good news.
“And?”, he inquired after Madison hung up, his body tense.
“He's given his statement and Roosevelt should get back to me in a few minutes. I probably have to go down to the police station later”, she explained nervously, shifting on her feet. “What if they don't believe us?”
“Okay good. The faster you make your statement, the faster they can close the case, little girl.” Again he pulled her towards him, this time onto the balcony so she could get some fresh air. In the few days that she had stayed with him, he had found that this had always helped her to calm down.
“Why shouldn't they believe it? The fact that you were uncomfortable having an affair and didn't say anything because of that makes sense, I hate to admit it but the idea Mr. White had was good”, Happy growled softly. Though it wasn't true, the thought that she was having an affair with the guy made him jealous. Which was utter nonsense and yet he couldn't help it.
“You think so?”, she asked meekly, leaning into him with a sigh. She just needed to be close to him right now. “Do you guys already know something about the witness?”
“I'm sure Mads”, he nodded with a grunt and wrapped his arm around her, just holding her. “No. Jax called earlier though and said it won't be long before Juice can hack into the police system. I guess tonight we should know who's behind this mess.”
“This waiting game is driving me crazy.” And yet she was grateful that she had so much help.
After telling Gemma about everything, she also let Jax in on it. It had felt wrong not to tell him about it even though he was worried. With her permission, Jax told Juice so he could find out more about the person trying to ruin Madison's life.
“We'll find out who that fucker is, understand?” He looked down at her, her eyes filled with desperation which in turn sparked anger in him. No matter who the person was, he would make sure that he or she wouldn't be able to ever say a word again.
She nodded slightly, a tiny spark more hope in her green eyes. “If you say so. Thanks again, your help means a lot to me.”
Her phone vibrated again, this time it was a number she didn't recognize. When she answered, she quickly found Roosevelt on the other end of the line asking her to come down to the station.
With trembling hands she clasped the phone after she hung up and gulped. “I have to go to the police station, Roosevelt said he has a few questions that he needs to get answers for.”
“I'll come with you”, Happy nodded and wouldn't argue about that. There was no way he would let her go alone. “And after that I want to know what you wanted to tell me.”
Madison hesitated, wondering if taking Happy with her was a good idea. She didn't want to involve him in this and yet she needed him by her side.
“Thank you”, she whispered rather and returned the fleeting kiss he gave her before the two made their way to the station, she with her car and he always behind her on his bike.

“So, you and Mr. White had an affair? When did it start?”, Roosevelt asked with his hands folded on the desk, his gaze never leaving the brunette who sat on the other side of the desk.
“Uh, yeah”, she cleared her throat, feeling actually uncomfortable talking about this. Even if it was a lie, it still made her grimace. “It started around three years ago, shortly after my twenty third birthday. No one could know about it because he had a wife and, well, because he was also a teacher. I ended it a year ago though.”
Her hands were pressed between her legs so Roosevelt couldn't see how nervous she was, how badly they were shaking. Even though she had practiced her statement over and over again, she was afraid to say anything other than Walter. What if she forgot an important detail? Well, it would be too late now anyway.
“Why? Realized he was a little too old for you? Or did you realize that it was morally wrong to seduce a married man?” There was a sneer in Roosevelt's voice, one could almost say he was enjoying this interrogation.
“That's none of your business why I ended things.” She had to bite her tongue to keep herself from saying something else that could get her in trouble. She knew this alibi would make her look like a slut and she hated it. But being mocked by a Cop really made her angry.
“Well, it isn't. I was just curious”, he winked with that fake smile on his face. “And that night when Steven Coleman got killed you were where exactly?”
“Mr. White and I met at my apartment after his shift was over. We enjoyed the rest of the day a little outside of Albuquerque where no one knew us so we didn't have to hide for once”, she paused, taking a deep breath. Ugh, she felt dirty for just thinking about that. Not because of Walt's age but because of his personality. He would be one of the last people she would start an affair with.
Clearing her throat, she continued. “After that we drove back to my apartment and spent the rest of the evening and night there until he had to leave in the morning.”
“And what did you do at your apartment, Miss Pinkman? I bet you didn't play card games all night, huh?”, he asked, giving his best to hide the sarcasm in his tone making Madison shake her head and huff in disgust.
“You're pretty nosy for a Cop. Does it turn you on to hear stories about young women getting fucked by older men?”, she sneered. Losing her temper probably wouldn't help the situation, yet she was done with his weird ass questions.
The man's gaze darkened at her change of attitude. “Watch what comes out of your mouth, Miss Pinkman. I'm a Cop, I need to ask questions that might be uncomfortable for some people.”
“Yeah, sure”, the brunette huffed. “I slept with him, that's what happened. And then we actually slept. I didn't murder Steven Coleman!”
Leaning back, Roosevelt studied the young woman sceptical. Her and Mr. White's statements were exactly the same and he had to admit that the former chemistry teacher was authentic and believable and so was Madison. She seemed like a decent young woman but he couldn't just tell her that.
“Alright. Do you have any proof that you and Mr. White had an affair? That the two of you were close?”, he inquired, frowning as the brunette threw a bunch of pictures on his desk that showed her and Walter White smiling into the camera or at each other.
Thanks to Juice and his Photoshop skills Madison was able to give him those pictures. The poor guy sat on his laptop the whole night putting photos of her and Walter together and make them look as real as possible. She, Happy, Jesse, Jax and Gemma had looked over them and neither of them could tell they were fake.
“I thought you'd want proof, that's why I brought them with me”, Madison sighed deeply and ran a hand over her tired looking face. “Can I please just go now? And can I leave Charming for a few days? I need to get my furniture here.”
Roosevelt looked at the pictures for a long moment, checking if they looked fake or not. They didn't, not in his eyes. And the dates on the back of the pictures matched with the time they had that said affair. Sighing, he gave them back to her and held his arms out to the sides.
“You're free to go, Miss Pinkman. And yes, you can leave Charming”, he told her with this typical cop smirk on his face. “The witness retracted her testimony this morning. I just wanted to know if Mr. White's testimony and yours match up. You have nothing to fear.”
Dazzled, she stared at the man and wasn't even sure what to say at first. “Are you fucking serious right now? You know that I'm innocent and still bring me down here?”
“I did my job, don't take it personal”, he winked, totally unimpressed by her anger. “Have a nice day, Miss.”
Shaking her head, she stood up and snatched her leather jacket from the back of the chair and stormed out of the room. Was he out of his god damn mind? Scaring her like that while he knew she didn't do anything? Well, she did do something, but he didn't have to know that.
“What happened?!” Happy grabbed her arm and pulled her aside where they had more privacy as he saw the tears brimming in her eyes.
“Roosevelt's an asshole! The witness retracted their testimony, he knew that I was 'innocent'”, she snarled angrily, trying to keep the angry tears from falling down her face by taking deep breaths.
“Fuckin' bastard”, Happy huffed and the urge to storm into Roosevelt's office and punch him was big, but of course he couldn't do that. “Come on, let's get you home. We still gonna find out who the snitch was”, he assured her firmly and gently pushed her outside and away from this shitty place.
“You sure? Shouldn't we just move on?” Sure, she was curious and wanted to know who the witness was, but what if searching for that person would get them in even more trouble? It was a risk.
“We can after we found out who almost got you serious jail time. I'm not letting that go, little girl”, he told her with a shrug and felt a smirk taking over his face at the thought of torturing that person.
“What are you thinking about?”, she asked with curiosity in her eyes as she saw the smirk form on his face.
“In how many ways I can make that bastard suffer, because that's exactly what I'm gonna do⸺ make him suffer.” She already knew his whole life story so he could also be brutally honest with her. Bringing a hand up to her cheek, he bent down and kissed her. “Wanna go back home?”
“I don't want you to hurt people because of me, Hap”, she whispered softly against his lips after she returned his kiss. “And yes, I need to plan my trip to Albuquerque to get my furniture.”
“You better learn to live with me hurting people who hurt you, little girl, because I ain't changing”, he rasped, looking down into her green orbs. “And I'll make sure to send a prospect with you. If Jax lets me go I'm coming with you.”
“I don't want you to change, Hap. I like you the way you are.” She bit her lip, melting like chocolate in his hands at his words. Why was it so fucking attractive when a man was willing to do anything for the woman he liked?
“Drive safe”, he grunted softly, running his thumb over her cheekbone before letting go of her and getting on his bike.
“Always. You too, please”, she smiled almost shyly. When she opened her car door and saw a piece of paper with letters cut out of newspapers, like in a bad horror movie, she picked it up. What she read on it made her blood run cold and for the first time in her life she felt genuine fear. Deep seated fear.
You got away this time, sweet girl. But don't think this is the end. I have been watching every step you make since years and one day I will get you. Your time is running out, enjoy every moment that you've left.
Letting out a shaky breath, she quickly shoved the note into her bag, slipped into her car, and drove off.
Should she tell anyone about it? She didn't know, it would probably be safer for the others if she wouldn't drag them into this. But the words on the note stuck with her, burned into her mind and would give her some sleepless nights.
