Chapter Twenty-Six:
( slughorn's party )
โโซโ*๏ฝฅ๏พ
SPENCER BARELY HAS ANY time to sit beside Ricky and rest peacefully with one another. She wishes that they could do that except right when she knows she has finished all her homework, Spencer disguises herself with the Invisibility Charm and sneaks right past into the restricted area. In a span of days, Spencer Montague has read 15 different huge books having to do with 'eld' and came up short with nothing. Well, actually not nothing, just not something relevant to her search. Thus, her eyelids are droopy and she knows very well that her sleep schedule has just gone extinct.
"I'm worried for you," Ricky reveals, putting on protective gloves in his hands to take care of the gnarled Snargaluff strumps. Next went on the protective goggles and gum shieldsโ Herbology reminds them of Potions except easier. "I don't think you've had a proper sleep in ages."
Spencer begins trying to get her first pod. "I'm fine... apart from the non-sleeping and having to overload myself in work, reading, and socializing when it comes to Professor Slughorn. His Slug Club is quite repetitive with all the talk about famous ex-pupils like McLaggen's well-connected family. Though, the food isn't too bad and last time he invited Gwenog Jones which I asked for an autograph for because Ginny loves her. Hermione and Blaise are there too, and he keeps McLaggen quiet. I think he's been glaring at him, I don't know why... Whatever, I'm just glad he isn't mad anymore."
"You need help, Spencer," Ricky comments carefully, "and a break."
"I can't," she disagrees, "I don't want to disappoint Daniel."
Her best friend stops trying to do anything with the Snargaluff strumps and stares at her deeply. "You know what I think? Daniel doesn't mean for you to stop caring about your health. He wants help, yes, but he does not want you to be overwhelmed. If you continue doing this, I'm going to send him a letter, Spencer," he warns quietly.
"Please, continue," Professor Sprout interrupts as she reaches their side. Spencer and Ricky nod in unison before returning to their work. The two continue working on their plant, grimacing in disgust when they succeed in taking out some pods and having the dead lump of wood.
"Fine," Spencer begins talking again after awhile. "I'll limit my time to spend it with you before sleeping. Though, Slughorn is planning a Christmas party soon enough and all I know so far is that it will be formal. Might even put the dress Fleur gave me into use."
Ricky smiles before slightly tilting his head to the side and motions for her to look at Harry. The golden trio sit right behind them and Spencer knows that they previously had been discussing over a few matters. Yet, right now somehow ends up being only Ron and Hermione conversing. Harry, however, awkwardly continues doing his own work making faces every now and then as he listens to their obvious bantering. Spencer turns to him in amusement and asks him, "Don't like listening to this married couple bantering?"
Harry gapes wide open at her and then leans in to whisper, "You think they're gonna get married and forget all about me?"
Spencer gives him a look. "Married, maybe. Forget about you? They would never do that, Harry. You'll probably get married with them as well," she teases.
As he continues working with their own stump he questions, "Are you two coming to support us against the Slytherins? I'm gonna have to look for a substitute since Katie's well..."
Ricky and her share a look and then grin up at him. "Of course!"
Harry lets out a sigh of relief and sends them a gratitude look. "Thanks. Merlin knows I need at least someone by my side," he mumbles quietly. Ricky softens his gaze and places his hand comfortingly on Harry's. Spencer watches closely how the two no longer blush among each other madly. They are both too infatuated with other people nowโ Harry with Ginny (she is not blind and notices her friend always admiring the redhead) and Ricky with Theodore (sometimes he still stares during lunch and it gets slightly depressing).
As promise, Spencer makes sure to spend time with Ricky before going up to bed and sleep from then on. She has been getting used to going to the Restricted Area that for some couple of times, she almost just went in empty-handed. Fortunately, being sleep-deprived hasn't exactly gotten worse and she realizes it before making it obvious that she has been sneaking in. Blaise usually keeps an eye on her during the halls or breaks (she pretends not to notice since it weirds her out how he is actually doing it).
The day of the Quidditch match finally came. Spencer heads along with Ricky to sit beside Luna who very bravely put on her Lion-hat once more to support the Gryffindors. The players are still outside whispering among another and she swears she sees Ron wanting to throw up again. The two come to a stop as a familiar tall Slytherin in Quidditch robes tugs another familiar old face with him. Blaise notices the two and walks toward them.
"Come to wish us luck?" Blaise questions coolly, smirking toward the young brunette. Spencer glares at him before her eyes fall to the boy beside him. Ricky is already staring at Theodore Nott with a heartfelt expressionโ his eyes longing to make eye contact. Except Theodore does not dare to do so and instead turns his face away from them, his arms cross roughly while Blaise has his own hand around the Quidditch uniform?
"I didn't know you were back on the team," Spencer blurts out toward her friend, her eyes smoothly checking over him. Theodore does not answer her and so she turns to Blaise instead.
He sneers at his housemate before staring at her. "Substitute. Three of our players are sick, he's replacing one as a Beater. The other two absolutely suckโ but we can't do much about it," he explains.
Ricky glances away from Theodore and briefly stares at Blaise. "Well, they have you two so you might still have a chance," he comments quietly.
"Thank you," Blaise acknowledges. Noticing that the boy beside him is still not saying a word, he pulls him forward and tells him, "Are you just going to ignore him like a child?"
"Shove off, Zabini," Theodore finally spoke aggressively. His eyes finally turn to his past friends and they soften almost immediately. "Thank you," he mumbles quickly before already heading the opposite direction.
The other Slytherin rolls his dark eyes before nodding at them as his goodbye. Ricky let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding and turns to Spencer. "Remember when it was Theodore being kind to us?" He scoffs unamused and went to sit beside Luna.
They wait for a couple of minutes before both teams came out, Harry representing the Gryffindor team while Urquhart for Slytherin. "Captains shake hands," Madam Hooch announces. Spencer slightly raise her chin up to see clearer. "Mount your brooms... on the whistle, three... two... one..."
The whistle blew and all of them quickly went into their position. Immediately, her face turns sour as she realizes who is the commentator. Zacharias Smith, a Hufflepuff boy she had gone on a date with in her fifth-year. For being in one of the kindest house yet, he had forced himself on her and ever since she grew a bitter dislike toward him. He is a tall, skinny blond boy with an upturned nose. Truth be told, she misses hearing Lee Jordan do the commenting. He was bias, yes, but unlike Smith's they were pretty hilarious.
"โWeasley saves it... he's bound to get lucky sometimes, I suppose," Smith comments with surprise and a sneer. The Ravenclaws rolls their eyes at his statement. "Since his brothers couldn't date Spencer Montague, perhaps this one is trying to impress herโ"
Spencer stomps her foot in anger and with all her might yells, "SHUT THE HELL UP, SMITH!"
The crowd around her silences for a few seconds before Gryffindor manages to get in another score. They roar in happiness and continue chanting for Gryffindor this time around, overlapping over Smith's annoying commentary. Score after score, Harry's team really pull it off this time and Spencer continues clapping in interest. She could spot Blaise and Theodore easily being the best ones in the Slytherin team, but yet, not even their amazing shots toward the others (seeing as they were Beaters) could help them.
"And I think Harper of Slytherin's seen the Snitch! Yes, he's certainly seen something Potter hasn't!" Smith yells through the megaphone. She gets on her toes (ignoring the fact that she is already tall) and notices the two seekers fly quick as possible to the golden snitch. Spencer grimaces slightly as she realizes Harper is a tad bit ahead, but luckily, Harry manages to speed off and take a hold of it. One second of silence passed before the Gryffindors and everyone supporting them began shouting in happiness.
Spencer laughs with Ricky as the two of them clap for their friends, but they stop momentarily when they notice Ginny still on her broom and speeding right toward Zacharias Smith. With an almighty crash, she collides with the commentator's podium. The young Montague gasps in surprise before letting out another laugh in appreciation for her redhead friend. Yeah, she would marry Ginny if she liked girls, Spencer thinks to herself.
"Come on," Ricky pulls her to the side. "Let's go congratulate them!"
She takes away her arm from him and practically screams (everyone else was too loud), "Let me go do something first, yeah?"
He nods in assurance before heading toward Harry and Ron while she moves to where the Slytherins rest. Sweat drips from their skin clearly exhausted in playing desperately. Spencer is not sure why she wants to go there first. Blaise appears in her view, taking off his gloves and letting the wind blow through his dark short curls. Beside him stands Theodore clearly not bothered with the loss as the rest of their housemates were. In fact, he barely looks like he cares.
"You two were great," she speaks gently once she arrives. The two of them turn toward her in surprise.
Blaise shrugs uncaringly before eyeing her curiously. "Heard you shout at the Hufflepuff. I think it was about time you put him in his place," he smirks ruthlessly. Spencer rolls her eyes before giving him a toothless smile. Theodore stares at her with a heavy heart before his eyes widen in alert and he grabs the girl's arm only to push her toward Blaise.
"Get her out of here," Theodore urges, his face hardening by the moment. Spencer furrows her brows before feeling herself being pulled by Blaise out of the way.
"What are you doing?" She questions in confusion. Her question is answered just in time for her to realize that she is glad they forced her to leave. Morgana Montague, her dearest sister, has gone toward Theodore with her usual vituperative smile. Fortunately, the older Montague did not paid attention to her (nor notice her) and she let out a sigh of relief. "Thanks," she tells the Slytherin kindly.
"You should head back to your friends. Better to start a celebration with them," Blaise clears his throat, nodding at her gratitude. He gazes down at her with a certain expression she could not exactly name.
Spencer hums knowing she was just going to go thank Ron, Harry, and Ginny before ditching the party (maybe she'll stay for an hour). She squeezes his arm as her goodbye before parting away from him and heading to where the others were. Once she arrives, breathless and sweaty hugs were given all around themโ though, she quietly comments about the awkward environment to Ginny and Ricky, noticing a tension between the golden trio.
.๏ฝฅ:*:๏ฝฅ๏พ'โซ,'โซ'๏พ๏ฝฅ:*:๏ฝฅห
SINCE HARRY AND SPENCER continue their usual 'meet-up once a week' routine, she always caught up with his struggles and vice versa. Thus, Spencer knows why Hermione and Ron are both ignoring each other and acting weirder than usual. She feels bad for the obvious third-wheel, but told him there is not much he could do about it since it is their problem. Not his. And then he went on about a whole speech on how Ginny is badass (that she knew) and how beautiful she looks when she smiles (again, she knows that too). In return, Spencer told him all about what she is searching up in the restricted area and even asked if he knew anything about it. Harry did not know what, but he did tell her that if he sees anything remotely close to it then he would inform her immediately. And then usually toward the end he tends to wear a smirk when asking about her Slytherin friend (which usually ends with her trying to avoid the questions).
Meeting up with Blaise, however, is just something that occasionally happens now and then. There was no 'meeting up everyday' or actual dates on when to meet... sometimes they just both know. It is the small communications during Potions or when they pass each other and they just know what that means. With Christmas coming around the corner, Professor Slughorn made sure to announce when his 'Slug Party' would be and especially made it so Harry could actually come. And so, she sits peacefully in the cold floor of the Astronomy Tower, watching with bright eyes as the brightest star of the Leo constellation gazes down at them. Her face glows within the dark night and she thinks silently about the books she has read on wands and about what type of missions Death Eaters in Hogwarts would complete.
"Have you an idea on who to bring for Slughorn's party?" Blaise's voice makes her turn toward him, the question being seriously asked by the way his brows furrow.
Spencer feels a tight hold in her throat before she answers, "I think I might invite Ricky. Though, McLaggen tried asking me out, but I ran away before he had the chance... uhโ why?"
He shakes his head and waves it off. "No reason," he responds back. Though, by the way his voice hardens, this is not all for 'no reason'. She bites her lip curiously, a thought crossing her mind. Ricky has not yet properly talk to Theodore in any wayโ unfortunately. Then again, neither has Spencer. However, maybe if they both went to the same event then they could be force to hang out. Spencer isn't an idiot. She has seen the way Theodore would stare at Ricky when they were friends and sometimes even just passing by. And she knew of Ricky's crush on him too. Her eyes wander to Blaise. So, maybe if she invites Ricky then...
"Do you have anyone in mind?" Spencer makes sure to ask first, unsure (and why did her stomach twist uncomfortably?) if he does or doesn't.
Blaise stares at her for a long time before answering, "I suppose not..."
The young Montague forms a smile on her lips and places her hand on his to gain his attention. "Well, what if you take Theo?"
He begins coughing at her words before realizing she is serious. "What if what?"
Spencer pats his back carefully before expanding on her idea, "Listen, Ricky has been absolutely smitten with Theodore and I know for a fact that Theo liked him too. The friendship they had did not just break."
"I hate to break it to you, Spencer, but Nott's in my 'watchlist' and I am guessing on yours too. You think it's a smart idea for a muggleborn and, well, him to be seen together?" Blaise questions incredulously. His voice is filled with doubt and unsureness.
She shrugs her shoulders. "It's only going to be Slughorn's party. Only people in the club are allowed to bring others and if anyone has a problem with it then the solution is for us to step in and say who we went with!"
The Slytherin narrows his eyes thoughtfully. "You may start to get convincing..."
Spencer grins at him widelyโ catching him off guard though he passes it on smoothly. "If we do this, we're gonna have to leave them alone for a while which means we have to be together," she adds on, her smile fading a little bit, not sure if he would like that idea. Blaise lets his gaze fall to their hands that are still touching each other's.
"Tell me," Blaise starts off, "why do you still care about Nott?"
She sighs at the question and lets her mind wander about Theodore. A simple smile rests on her face. "Because in that short amount of time when we were friends, he smiled, laughed, brighten up at the sight of us. He was happy and I know he enjoyed hanging out with us. I care about him because even though he's a Death Eater, he's a kid that is scared. Because I love him and know that he's a good person that is lost and trapped," Spencer explains quietly. "He's not like Morgana and he'll never be."
The boy beside her stays quiet for a total of three minutes before he finally nods. "I'll try and convince Nott to come with me. I don't make promises on that, however. He doesn't like me, I don't like him. In fact, he'll find it odd," Blaise finally gives in to her.
"There is also another problem," he remembers suddenly. Spencer stares at him curiously. "Slughorn initially was going to invite him, but after he found out his father was imprisoned for being a Death Eater..."
She purses her lips before waving that matter off. "I'll handle that. He's rather fond of me, you know?"
A tired yawn slowly began escaping her mouth. Spencer stands up from her place and feels her eyes water from the yawn. "So, it's a date?"
Blaise clears his throat harshly in surprise. "Uhโ yeah," his voice cracks toward the end which causes him to internally facepalm in regret. "Yeah, I'll do my best."
Later on that week, Ricky has for sure become Spencer's invite to the party, but a whole lot of mess came for the Gryffindor trio. Hermione had come running crying to her in despair, finally confessing the feelings she had for Ron. Spencer had been both surprise and not at the same time. Don't get her wrong, she knew that Ron and Hermione bantered like married couples and yet would still find ways to make the other blush. However, she was surprised that Hermione had gone crying to her. To cheer her up, she made sure to assure her that she is there for anything and that she has to show Ron what he is absolutely missing. Sadly, Hermione did not choose the right person for herself. Cormac McLaggen immediately had shown off to others that he was going out with the brilliant Gryffindor to the Slughorn party.
Spencer also came to hear that Harry invited Luna Lovegood as his own friend and she was glad to hear that. The young blonde came to her happily that day and could not stop exclaiming how excited she is to be invited. Spencer did not mind since Harry really did see Luna as a friendโ perhaps even a little sister.
She is glad Luna would be attending as well realizing that she needs help dressing. The dress Fleur and Bill gifted her laid ironed up in her bed, her hair getting fixed to present itself better and with a final touch of the hair pin that Ginny gave her for her birthday. She is truly thankful that the two gifts given by different people managed to fit one anotherโ were they seers or something?
There is no words to describe how beautiful the dress is, however. It is a poofy, tulle, forest green, short dress with off the shoulders sleevesโ amazing, in other words. After having finished with her whole face and body, she puts on the dress and with Luna's help, covered up the zipper. Spencer has to admit that this day, she looks absolutely stunning. The two girls went down and met up with Ricky and Harry who both completely complimented the two of them like no other.
Harry and Luna find themselves in their own conversation while Spencer does with Ricky. "You look amazing," Spencer tells her best friend excitedly.
"Thank you," he answers humbly. However, it does not stop him from eyeing her oddly. "Why are you so jumpy?"
She gives a sweet smile. "Don't hate me," Spencer begs without explanation. Ricky furrows his brows confusedly before he glances up when they reach toward Slughorn's office. She does as well, noticing her partner in this crime almost immediately. Beside him, as requested, is Theodore looking overly annoyed to have been dragged by the person he doesn't even like. The two boys, as always, appear incredibly beautiful.
Ricky tugs her arm back. "What did you do, Spencer?"
"You need this, Ricky. Give it a try. If you hate it, leave or tell me if he's truly bothering you and we'll never interact with him again," Spencer explains, giving her friend a hopeful look. Ricky clenches his jaw before nodding shortly. The two of them walk up to the Slytherins (just previously Blaise and Theo had the same argument, though they only quietened down when they arrived) and greets them.
Spencer couldn't help but stare at Blaise in slight awe. He wore a simple black suit and yet, he appears breathtaking. She knows it is his absolute good-looking genes pulling off once moreโ his mother is one of the most prettiest witch. If anything, she would have been surprise if he did not know how to dress up. Her eyes smoothly runs across his suit before she stares right at him and offers him a smile.
"You set this up, didn't you?" Theodore questions her accusingly. Spencer turns to him and raises an eyebrow.
"Do you have a problem with it? Only invites are allowed inside. No one else," she comments coolly, daring him to argue against her. Thankfully, Theodore recognizes the look on her face and does not fight back. "Great. Now, if anyone asks, Ricky has come with me and you've come with Blaise."
"You're joking," the shorter boy from all of them sighs. Theodore gives Blaise a disgruntle look.
Blaise scoffs. "I wish she were, Nott."
"Boys," Spencer warns sharply. "Behave. You know, I read once that 'if you can't be friends, at least try to be frenemies'."
They all stay silent before Theodore finally lets out his familiar chuckle of amusement, horribly failing in covering it up as he cover his mouth. After that, Ricky joins in having it feel all close to home. "You haven't changed a bit, have you?" Theodore releases a thin smile.
I have, Spencer thinks in her own mind. However, she does not say the bitter words. Instead, she returns the smile knowing it has been ages since he even twisted his lips that way. "Well, instead of standing in the entrance let us enter, shall we?"
The room is crowded and bathed in red light cast by an ornate golden lamp dangling from the center of the ceiling. Loud singing accompanied the murmurs of people talking while number of house-elves walked around hurriedly to organize everything.
"Spencer, Blaise!" Professor Slughorn beams at them happily, urging them to get further inside. Spencer kindly greets him back before returning her attention to the party happening inside. Ginny stands beside Dean Thomas who was getting a punch for her, Hermione seems to be swiftly moving around avoiding Cormac like some disease. Harry, the poor Chosen One, finds himself surrounded by a whole pack of adults and with Slughorn focusing all on him.
Theodore returns to his moody self which causes Spencer to the grab Blaise's hand. "We," she points to the Slytherin and herself, "are going elsewhere. Have fun!"
"Spencerโ" Ricky tries saying but it is too late. Spencer already dragged Blaise out of their way with a sinister smile on her lips. She laughs harmoniously as they make their way far away from them possible. Though, it does not take her long to realize she is not the only person laughing. Her eyes land right on Blaise's face, noticing his lips twisted upwards, a deep dimple on the side of his cheek. His own gentle laugh sounding so extremelyโ
"Beautiful," Spencer murmures barely audible. Then again, she had not wanted to say it out loud. The words had escaped her mouth before she could stop herself. It is too late to retract them seeing as Blaise widen his own eyes in surpriseโ the smile slowly fading from his face. The young Montague blinks repeatedly, hating herself for how red she has gotten and apologizes, "I'm sorry, it just..."
Blaise runs his hand through his face, swallowing deeply just the same. "It's uhโ it's alright," he turns away with no other words being able to be said.
The two of them awkwardly avoid each other's eyes even as they made their way to get some appetizers. At one point, Ginny went up to her with an annoyed expression. "Dean is incredibly annoying," the redhead spats angrily.
"What did he do?" Spencer questions curiously. She has a feeling the poor Gryffindor boy did not do anything wrong (she used to think he was in love with his best friend but...). Just when the redhead is about to vent her mouth off, her eyes land on Blaise and she makes a face of realization.
"Oh," Ginny gasps. "I'll tell you later! Right now, I wanna meet the Weird Sisters," she clearly did want to talk about it now, but at the same time is telling the truth as she motions to the band members roaming around. Spencer chuckles softly before rolling her eyes, letting them wander around the room.
The music and lights began to overwhelm her minute-by-minute, the feeling of virago almost hitting her at once. Truth be told, she never really enjoyed being in a party-filled crowded place.ย It makes her slightly dizzy after some time of watching all the lights and people trying to squeeze themselves by. Fortunately, Blaise seems to notice her discomfort and pulls her some place behind the curtains where it was quieter and lights no longer flash repeatedly. She rests her head on his chest trying to reassure her brain that she is okay and to stop being light-headed because she is. Spencer took a deep breath in before she feels herself stop all of a sudden. The smell of peppermint and rosemary immediately hit her noseโ so oddly familiar and... attractive. Oh, oh no.
Her eyes widen indefinitely and yet she stays in the same position. How can she face him after just realizing that she likes Blaise? (Okay, maybe she hasn't just realized, but she avoided thinking about it until now or else that would have confirmed it). She likes Blaise like like likes him (isn't her vocabulary amazing?). That makes sense and yet, she couldn't help but hate herself for it. This was her sister's ex-boyfriendโ not that she cares who her sister dated or not, but what if Blaise compares the two and would think to himself that 'yeah, Morgana is better in this'.
"Are you alright?" Blaise's voice lowers down to gently ask her a simple question. His fingers perch up her chin making Spencer stare right at himโ and he freezes noticing something in her eyes and a familiar scent filling up his nose. Two young souls gazing at one another while the universe moves along, yet time at this moment does not seem to matter. They are just a few inches apart that it is impossible not to feel the other's breath. Spencer parts her lips slightly, taking notice of how his pupils dilate. That is a good thing, right? She has read books where it mentions that eye dilation is something that occurs when the other person takes an interest. Truthfully, she does not know why she is thinking about that, but in the moment of absolute panic her mind tries to gives her all the answers into what is happening. All except one. And of course, for someone as smart as she, Spencer could not help but whisper softly and hurriedly, "Yours eyes are dilating and I've been trying to figure out if that's a good thing or notโ"
Spencer barely manages to notice that Blaise gazes down at her lips momentarily before focusing entirely on her (as if he truthfully does care and listens to every word she speaks) while she continues to whisper, "Many studies shows that it is a good thing, but I-uh never thought much on it until nowโ can I stop talking? Can you stop me from talking?"
His head slowly tilts and he began leaning down, stopping about two centimeters away from her lips as he stares at her in question. "Can I kiss you?"
Another simple question that perhaps meant the entire world. She nods in agreement, though, he does not move and patiently waits for her to verbally give him consent. Spencer closes her eyes and within a whisper, answers, "Yes."
His lips met hers and for that moment, Spencer feels as if time has stopped completely (though she truly knows it didn't) and it is just them in the room with no one else. The flutter of Spencer's heart only intensifies which each second that his lips are on hers. It pounds in her chest and her knees slightly weaken because of the serotonin in her system. All she focus about in that moment is how soft his lips manages to feel. Her heart slightly falls when they part from one another, eyes fluttering open to peak at his faceโ how he felt. There is a short dimple on one side of his cheek indicating a smile and she could not help herself as her hand went up to his shoulders to tiptoe and initiate the kiss again.
Spencer cannot say that the kiss has been the most perfect. She never has been kissed before this. However, it is everything she could ever hope for in the first one. The young Montague for one, does likes Blaise (unlike when Smith tried to kiss her), and for the other, it is consensual. So, even if it had been bad, it is good. Though, it is not bad at all and she has never felt this type of nerve beforeโ where the inside of her is thumping loudly in happiness.
The two of them only part from each other when they hear a commotion coming from the party where everyone else is. Spencer steps away from Blaise curiously, letting her hand trail down to hold his as she reenters from the curtains. Her eyes widen in confusion as she spots Draco Malfoy being held on the arm by Filch. She could tell the boy beside her is filled with confusion as well.
"All right, I wasn't invited!" Malfoy spats out angrily. "I was trying to gatecrash, happy?"
"No, I'm not!" Filch exclaims, though the glee on his face says differently. "You're in trouble, you are! Didn't the headmaster say that nighttime prowling's out, unless you've got permission?"
Spencer eyes the blond Slytherin, noticing his dressed-up suit obviously trying to blend in with the crowd. The question is: why did he want to get in the party?
Slughorn steps in carefully. "That's alright, Argus," the Potions professor waves off uncaringly. "It's Christmas, and it's not a crime to want to come to a party. Just this once, we'll forget any punishment; you may stay, Draco."
As predicted, Filch did not seem to look to happy about the turn of events and left angrily. Spencer frowns, noticing how Malfoy manages to look a little ill and she looks toward Harry realizing he is seeing the same thing as her. Her attention only sways away from Malfoy (who was walking out with Snape) when Ricky turns up in front of her, a frown clearly present on his face. She furrows her brows in confusion and asks him, "Where's Theodore?"
Ricky scoffs revealing he is upset about something. "He left once he noticed Malfoy enter," her best friend tells her. He turns to Blaise with a questioning glance. "Do you know why he's here, anyway?"
Blaise shakes his head, his face still flushed from what occurred moments before. "I-I have no clue," he stammers completely lost. Spencer squeezes his hand comfortingly before looking around the room. Where's Harry?
She turns back to the Slytherin. "We'll talk later, alright?" Then her eyes meet Ricky's and motions to where Harry was a couple seconds ago. "I think we need to see Harry."
(And with their lips feeling blessed and the world turning upside down, they part from each other to face the reality where it is not just them).
