CHAPTER SEVEN—
say yes to the dress. featuring unknown lovers

Lasy was literally about to give herself a heart attack sitting in the front seat of Tyler's, or actually his Dads, car. Her heart was hammering in her chest, her throat felt like it was closing up, nausea took over her entire body, her face was on fire, she was sweating, her leg hadn't stopped bouncing.

He stopped the car infront of a blue house. "I'll be right back."

Lasy gave him a tight lipped smile as he got out of the car, hurrying toward the front door where he unlocked it. As he disappeared inside, Lasy screamed at the top of her lungs and slammed her head on the dash. She gasped and leaned back in her seat, inhaling deeply as her chest rose tremendously and sunk back down with her. Her fangs stabbed her in the gums and bottom lip, breathing deeply with her mouth parted. "Don't ruin this for yourself. Do not ruin your first hang out, Lasy. I will kill myself if you do."

She began to calm down, hand on her chest and eyes shut. "And stop talking to yourself before you get into the habit and scare him away."

Lasy relaxed in her chair, exhaling and letting the seats ago. Tyler came walking out again, pulling the beige jacket on more. Lasys hands gripped the seat again, looking down at her legs and pressing her tongue to her fangs to feel them go back in when she thought of nothing but a white room. Her head snapped over when he opened the door and got in, exhaling and raising his eyebrows. "Ready?"

Lasy smiled, nodding her head.

"Where are we headed to, anyways?" he questioned her after pulling out of his driveway and heading down the street. She was quiet. "Lacy?"

She looked over at him as if she hadn't heard, raising her brows slightly. "I asked you were we were going."

"Oh." she cleared her throat and though really hard. Really, really, hard for a course of three seconds. "Jericho Jewlers."

"Jericho Jewlers?" he laughed slightly. "Are you getting married or something?"

She smiled slightly, he was so similar in real life just as he was over text. "I need to get a dress."

"For what?" he took a turn.

"A wedding." she took his words and used it against him in a way.

"You're gonna wear white to a wedding?" he gave a questionable look in the corner of his eye.

"Yes." Lacy said back, looking out of the window as the first drop of rain fell onto the car window. "It's a different type of wedding."

"Well, who's getting married?" Tyler asked, speeding up a little when the light turned yellow. Lasy tried not to smile, she did the same thing.

"My great aunt." she answered, it wasn't a lie really. Her great aunt had been getting married, she just wasn't planning on going. "For the seventh time."

More like seven-hundredth time, but she didn't say that.

"Cool, when is it?" he kept light conversation going well, Lasy liked that because she literally couldn't hold a conversation at all.

"It's in three weeks." she shrugged. "On a Saturday, and Audrey Hall."

"Audrey Hall?" Tyler was taken off guard by her words. "Isn't that considered a place of bad luck after that family of Vampires from Nevermore ate four kids there fifty years ago?"

Lasy inhaled as she rose her eyebrows. "Did they?"

He nodded his head, taking a turn. "It's pretty though."

So was he.

He parked outside of the small shop, Lasy looked over with a smile. "Thank you for bringing me."

"Sure." he nodded with a smile. "Do you want me to wait out here or I can come in?"

Her face fell. "Come in?"

"To drive you back, it's about to rain." he nodded his head, motioning to the few raindrops on the window shield. "If it's, like, weird for a guy to go in there-"

"No." Lasy cut him off, motioning for him to follow as she circled the car and waiting for him to follow. Tyler gave her an awkward smile as they walked in, he held the door for her before the pair were welcomed with too many white dresses and too many crying fiancés. "Regret."

Tyler exhaled. "Regret?"

"Regret." she confirmed.

"Hi, there." a woman walked over, her name tag gave it away that she worked here. "You two looking for a wedding dress?"

"I..." Lasy trialed off, her face flushing as she looked for the words.

Tyler noticed the way she kept opening her mouth and shutting it, like she had done with him a couple times. He stepped up to help her. "She's just shopping for a white dress. Not a wedding dress...but it's for a wedding."

"You'll be wearing white to a wedding but you aren't the bride?" her eyes widened just a tad, looking at Lasy.

"It's a difference type of wedding." Tyler gave an awkward smile as the woman matched it.

"Well, what are we looking for?" she looked between the two. "Something classy? Short?"

"Thank you." Lasy gave her an awkward look, walking away from her.

Tyler hesitated as the woman watched Lasy walk away. "She's a little shy. I think we got it, thank you."

She gave him a small smile and backed off, following after Lasy as she got lost in the crowd of dresses. She glanced over as he circled the isle. "Thank you."

"Sure." he hummed as watched her grab a few. He wanted to ask about why she struggled to talk to others so much, but he couldn't find a way that didn't come off rude. The rain started to pour, the sky darkening up as the windows basically cried for the unknown couple trapped inside. The sound beat on the roof, mincing Lasys heartbeat each time she glanced to her right and saw the only sunshine left that day standing right next to her. "What type of different wedding requires the guest to wear white?"

Lasy smiled slightly with a shrug. "The bride wears red."

"Really?" he laughed with a nod. "I've never heard of that."

Lady shrugged with a half smile, putting another dress over her arm. She then paused and looked at Tyler with a questionable look, he frowned his eyebrows together before she nodded to him. He was still lost, making her realize he hadn't caught on to certain things she'd do to say words without having to open her mouth. "Do you want anything?"

"Oh, no." he smiled at her, now knowing what she was saying. "I'm okay....I don't have a wedding anytime soon."

If he smiled at her one more time, she'd have to make him have a wedding pretty soon.

"I know i'm not suppose to ask this, but what does your family do?" his question got a raise of her brows. "Career wise. Something really great that lets you leave a two hundred dollar tip."

Lasy rose her eyebrows as she broke eye contact, looking back at the dresses. "My Moms a surgeon."

"Really? What kind?" he seemed genuinely curious.

Lasys eyes widened a little, swallowing as she looked at him. "Freelance."

Tyler gaped. "She's a freelance surgeon?"

"She does it all." she nodded her head as he laughed slightly. "My Dads a therapist."

"Are you guys close?" he took a few of the dresses when it started to stack up too much and cover her face.

"Very." Lasy nodded her head. "We always have dinner together, even if we've had bad days. My Dad and I go golfing on Sundays, he always lets me win but I think he's just bad at it. And my Mom, even with her busy schedule, she always makes it a point to see me all the time. She chooses me, and we're really close. We do practically everything together."

If it had been anyone else in the world, he'd have found her over detail odd. He hummed with a small smile. "That sounds really nice."

In the fantasizing moments she spent making herself feel better, she made him upset. Lasy stopped entirely as she looked at him, frowning. "You said your Dad was rude?"

"Something like that." he agreed with an inhale, raising his eyebrows as she tossed another dress on the stack he was carrying. "He's the sheriff, so that probably says a lot."

"Hard on you?" Lasy nodded her head as she looked back, reliving him as she was done grabbing dresses.

"Very." Tyler agreed as he followed after her. "I was thinking about your name."

She swallowed as her eyes widened, glad she'd been walking infront of him some so he didn't see. "My name?"

"It's a sorts common name, usually spelt with a C." he set the dresses down on the sitting area after she had.

"Like I do." she feed into the lie.

"Yeah, like you." he nodded his head at her. "But, the only other Lacy i've ever known spells it with an S. I don't know, I guess I was just wondering if you've ever met someone that way or if she's just...different like that."

"No, never." Lasy shook her head as her chest heaved a little. "She must have had parents that wanted it to be a little different."

"Maybe." he smiled, but she could tell it wasn't about her. It was, but not about the her that was infront of him. "She's...pretty unique, I guess."

"Seems like you enjoy her." Lady nodded, making Tyler snap his eyes at her. "Have you been friends a while?"

"Sorta, she's pretty much my best friend." he admitted to her before shaking his head. "No, she definitely is my best friend."

Lasy smiled at him. This was when she was suppose to panic, when she was suppose to feel like she couldn't breath or throw up. But, she hadn't. She spoke to Tyler without having to pause, her heart rate stayed the same, she didn't feel nauseas. She just felt really tired. "Do you...like this girl?"

"I think so." he nodded and rubbed his hands on his pockets. "I do. But, it's hard. She doesn't want to meet me, and I haven't even seen her face. So...it's hard for me to let myself think that way, because I don't want her to hurt me. Do you know?"

Lasy smiled, he missed the gloss of her eyes. "I'd hope she wouldn't."

"Me too." he laughed some and looked away, inhaling deeply. He overthought it, she took up his brain. "So, which one do you think you're gonna go with?"

Lasy looked at the many dresses that were laid infront of her. "Umm..."

Lasy gave Tyler a small smile as he pulled up near Weathervane. "Thank you, again."

"Yeah." he smiled as her. "Least I could do."

She hesitated, inhaling deeply. "I like hanging out with you."

Tyler gave her a little grin. "I like hanging out with you too."

"Um." she unbuckled her seatbelt and clutched her shopping bag and backpack. "Bye?"

"Bye." he laughed as she got out of the car. She shut the door and walked before it some, looking back and giving him a peace sign like she had the one time she left the coffee shop. He leaned down some to give her one back, making Lasy smile as she walked back toward the town square with the biggest smile on her face.

Met with it set on fire and Wednesday Addams being the only one left in the middle.
