CHAPTER THREE—
sit anywhere available.
"Should have known this was gonna happen." Bianca shook her head as she came back with a water, finding Lasy just as she left her. Laid against one of the booths with her eyes shut. "I tried to tell you not to do more then up upside down ride at once."
Lasy only groaned in response as Yoko patted her back, she took the water from Bianca to take small sips. Xavier headed their way, all pouty and with deep sighs. Bianca noticed it first. "What happened to you?"
"Nothing." he mumbled, Lasy looked up at him slightly.
"Well, Yoko and I are gonan hit a few more rides before Principle Weems makes us go back." Bianca looked toward her friend before back down to Lasy. "Try to not let her puke."
Xavier rose his eyebrows in response as the pair of girls walked off, leaving the two. Lasy looked up at him at from where she was sitting, a frown rested on her lips. "Are you mad at me?"
"What?" Xavier looked down. "No. Why would I mad at you?"
She shrugged. "Just checking."
"I'm just not having fun." he sat down at the space next to her. "You having fun?"
Lasy shook her head. She inhaled. "Why not?"
"Why am I not having fun?" he questioned as she nodded. "I don't know. It's stupid."
Lasy smacked his arm as he gave her an offended look. "Ow."
"Liar." she mumbled.
"I am not a liar." he defended himself. "It's literally stupid."
Lasy rolled her eyes, looking around as her body stopped. She frowned her eyebrows, seeing a familiar set of curls running alongside Wednesday Addams. Lasy glanced at Xavier, he'd been looking just were she was. "They're friends?"
"Guess so." he said back with a shrug. "Why do you care?"
Lasy shook her head, telling him she didn't. She then rose her eyebrow to ask why he did. "I don't either."
Lasy chewed on her mouth as she watched the two disappear in the crowd together, feeling the sharpness of her fangs stab her in the gums as she rose her hand. Removing her finger, she'd drawn blood. Somehow, perhaps to avoid vampires draining themselves, they weren't drawn to their own blood.
That was a new one, she wasn't hungry or excited. Yet, her Fangs came out.
"Hungry?" Xavier asked, Lasy shook her head. "Excited?"
She shook her head again.
Principle Weems looked up the next day when she heard the knock on the door. After Rowen supposedly left, she'd had hoped for some time alone. But, she didn't mind Lasys company. "Lasy, here for breakfast?"
She gave her a tiny smile, shutting the door as Principal Weems pulled the blood bag from under the table. Lacy held out her mug with her favorite eclipse on it. "How are you doing today? Hopefully staying away from the rumors that are spreading?"
"Printable Weems?" Lasy gave her a look that was between hope and sadness. "I wanted to ask about my teeth."
She eyed her. "Has something happened?"
Lasy shook her head. "They only come out when i'm upset or happy."
"Right." she nodded, realizing Last wasn't going to say more. "Did they come out when you felt something else?"
She nodded her head. Principal Weems trashed the bag as she looked to her. "You have to talk to me if you want my help, Lasy."
She frowned as her eyes casted down. She didn't want to have to talk, she wouldn't explain it right and then fall embarrassed. Plus, she wasn't in the best mood. "I was kinda upset. Just a little bit."
"Upset over what?" the blonde asked, being ignored. "Sometimes your emotions will channel it without you knowing. It's not a bed thing, it means you're developing more as your species."
Lasy nodded as she gave her a tiny smile and lifted her cup some. "Thank you."
As Lasy exited the office, she felt her phone buzz. Her head leaned against the wall as she stared at the message.
whostyler:hey las. you okay? i haven't heard from you all morning.
eclipselasy: long night.
eclipselasy: you?
whostyler: honestly, me too. what are you doing?
eclipselasy: trying to stay awake but not doing so good! what are you doing?
Lasy ran into someone as she looked down at her phone. "Sorry."
Wednesday. Her dark eyes looked at Lasys mug. "Is that blood?"
Lady hesitated but nodded her head. Wednesday popped her finger in and then into her mouth, raising her eyebrows. "Finally...a little fun."
Lasy offered her a small smile. Neither were too great at conversation, but it was killing Lasy to not know what went on last night. Especially with Wednesdays claims and the fact that Tyler, a normie who seemed like the last person that would be around Wednesday Addams, was with her all night. "What...I saw you with the coffee shop boy."
Wednesday held her chin up a little more. "Yes. I needed his assistance, what's it to you?"
Lasu shook her head. "Just...wondering."
Wednesday eyed her a second. Putting her finger back into the mug and pulling it out again. "Thanks for the nostalgia."
Lasy looked back as she walked away, her phone buzzing as she glanced down.
whotyler: here's a couple of songs that are so intense it'll keep you awake.
Lasy smiled as her stomach flipped a million times, hitting the link and fishing her ear buds from her backpack. She completely forgot why she was upset.
Lasy pulled her earbuds out as she felt Bianca tapping her arm, raising her eyebrows in questioning. The siren smiled at her. "I asked what you were listening to?"
Lasy smiled as she turned her phone, showing Maniac lighting up her screen. Bianca frowned her eyebrows. "Not your usual taste."
Lasy shrugged. "Something new?"
"Cool." she nodded. "Did Xavier ask you to be apart of his Jokers?"
Lasy rolled her eyes with a nod. Bianca laughed. "And did you say yes?"
Lasys face fell as she gave a guilty look before nodding her head. Bianca laughed as she looked over to make a comment toward Xavier, stopping as Wednesday sat next to him. Lasy leaned forward more to look as well, not being able to read his lips too well to see what he had been saying.
Lacys unplugged her earbuds as she popped them in her bag, reddening in her face as her phone chimed. Miss Thornhill smiled. "Can you silence it, Lasy?"
She gave an apologetic and humiliated look and silenced her phone quickly. As she began to put it in her bag, due to the movement, the screen lit up. The anxiety of being called out from her phone washed away as she stared at Tyler's messages.
whostyler: i might not be able to text you goodnight tonight. something came up.
whostyler: so incase i don't get a chance, goodnight.
"Lasy?" Miss Thornhill got her attention again as Lasy stared at her message in worry. What would have came up that he didn't even bother to tell her? Was something the matter? Was it Wednesday? Was he angry at her? Tired of her? Sick of wasting his time? Her heart thumped, she felt nauseas. Over a stupid little text, she started to text back to ask if everything was okay. "Lasy?"
Her eyes snapped up as a few eyes all turned to her, including Bianca's. Lasy grinned as she put her phone away, dropping her voice so low barley anyone heard it. "Sorry."
"Do you need to step out?" she asked her with a remorseful smile. Lasy never knew how to take Miss Thornhill, she was nice and seemed to like Lasy but also did anything to try and belittle her. Make her seem like a child. "Is it a personal thing?"
Lasy shook her head, casting her eyes down as her leg started to bounce badly, hoping someone would take the attention off her.
Xavier raising his palm , looking over as he caused his spider drawing to come to life and craw across the table.
"I doubt Wednesday is impressed by your tricks, Mr.Thorpe." Ms.Thornhill spoke up as she eyes the pair sat together. Lasy had a lot of things she wanted to ask Xavier to bring to life for her, but her never found the words to ask for some reason.
"Admit it, you're a little impressed." Xavier grinned over at the girl in black. She rose her hand and smacked the spider into dust as the class laughed. Lasy rose her eyebrows and pursed her lips, shaking her head so she wouldn't laugh and looking away.
"Wednesday, we're thrilled to have you join us on our journey into the world of carnivores plants." Ms.Thornhill spoke as she circled her desk, Lasy felt her phone buzz from her bag at her foot . "Now, who can tell us the name of this beauty?"
Bianca had raised her hand before she even finished the question, Lasy tried to focus but her bag buzzed again and her leg tapping picked up. What was he saying? Was he telling her what was wrong? That he didn't wanna talk anymore? That she was boring? Or was it a super short message that made her somehow feel embarrassed? Wednesday cut in, which made Lasy think about how her and Tyler were together all night long. "Dendrophylax lindenii."
Bianca lowered her hand in disbelief.
"First discovered in the Isle of Wight in 1854." Wednesday ignored her, Bianca looked at Lasy in disbelief as she tried to give her a small supportive smile.
"Very good, Wednesday." Ms.Thornhill gushed. "Looks like you may have competition for first chair, Bianca."
Lasys phone went off again, she tapped her foot. "Lasy?"
Lasy looked to Miss Thornhill as she smiled. "Do you know the shortened name of this beauty?"
A orchid. Lasy knew it, but the words weren't forming as everyone looked at her. "It's..."
Just say it. Lasys heart hit hard against her chest. Between the buzzing on her foot and the way every set of eyes was boring in on her, it was as if she was being closed in. Her foot cramped up, her breathing picked up next. "The-"
"It's an orchid." Bianca cut in for her. That was one thing about Miss Thornhill that no other teachers did. They'd caught on to how Lasy reacted with so many eyes on her and avoided randomly calling on her, Thornhill on the other hand seemed like she was trying to "push" Lasy out of that fearful state.
"Thank you, Bianca." Miss Thornhill nodded. "Next time, Lasy."
There she went again, treating her like she was four.
"I knew it." Lasy whispered to Bianca with desperate eyes.
"I know, don't worry." she shook her head at her.
"Who knows it's greatest qualities?" Thornhill went on as she held the plant in hand, completely unaware of what she'd mentally just done to Lasy as she hid behind her hand slightly as her head convinced her the couple whispered sweet nothings in the back of the class were making fun of her, and Bianca was thinking badly of her from next to her when she was just trying to find the best answer before Wednesday did.
"Resilience and adaptability." Wednesday said nearly immediately. "It's able to thrive in even the most hostile environments."
"But it's mere presence can change the ecosystem, causing the establishment plants to reject it." Bianca got competitive as she glared at her.
"Usually because the native species is allowed to thrive unchecked." Wednesday started a battle without even realizing it. "Nothing a Weedwacker couldn't fix."
"You can most certainly try." Bianca seemed to hold herself back from saying something else.
"Are we still talking about flowers?" Xavier looked between the girls.
"Thank you, ladies, for those illuminating insights." Miss Thornhill cut the pairs battle off entirely as a couple people chuckled around the room. "Clearly the plants aren't the only carnivore in class today."
Lasy couldn't help it, she worried about Tyler and his three messages he'd sent were short. Too short for something to not really be wrong. She went to Weathervane after school and popped her fingers as she walked in. She spotted Tyler sitting at one of the tables, clearly on a break from his evening shift as his hands messed with one of the coffee cups. She sat down at a different table at first, hiding behind the menu as she tried to peek at him from the side.
He saw her.
Lasy hurried to hide again as her breath shook, squeezing her eyes shut and hoping he didn't think anything of it. But, she knew she'd been in deep shit when she slowly peaked over the menu and saw he'd been standing infront of her. Lasys eyes widened as he forced a smile. "What can I get you?"
Last swallowed the sickening feeling that lingered. "You're not....on the clock."
"No, i'm not. But, Charlie isn't too use to everything yet so it'll probably take a while." he looked back at the younger boy that was struggling to get the lid on the to go cup behind the counter. "Another to go order?"
Lasy was quiet as her mouth kept opening and losing, like she was about to say something but couldn't. She just shook her head, Tyler rose an eyebrow. "Okay...so, for here?"
She was quiet again. Sucking in her lips and pulling eye contact away, she glanced back at him with a deep inhale. "You okay?"
His face fell some as his eyes softened just slightly, shrugged his shoulders. "It's been a long day."
Lasy nodded her head. "I-"
She stopped talking and just motioned to the chair infront of her. Tyler rose his eyebrows as she kept on. "You want me to sit down?"
She shrugged as he had to give an awkward laugh. "Okay. Thanks."
Lasy fiddled with the napkin. "A rude customer?"
"More like a rude father." he said back. Lasy leaned forward some as she stared at him. She loved the way he looked, the little things that she was only able to see now that he'd been up close. A tiny scar a few inches left of his nose, a mole high up on his neck. "You know?"
Lasy shook her head no, even though she did. She didn't want him to piece anything together. He nodded his head as Lasy blinked a couples times. "I'm sorry."
"Don't worry about it. You're lucky." he forced a laugh.
"No." she shook her head as Tyler rose his eyebrows in questioning. "Sorry about your Dad."
"Oh." his eyebrow shot up but smiled, like he was embarrassed he'd even said anything in the first place. "It's okay. Thanks for letting me sit down."
Lasy gave a single laugh. "Don't you always say-"
"Sit anywhere available." they said on sync to quote what he always did when anyone walked in. They then laughed on sync.
"Yeah, I guess so." Tyler hummed with a smile as Lasy did back, keeping her teeth hidden as she felt them poke out and stab her in the gums. She was glad she usually smiled with her mouth shut, because giving it away that she was a Nevermore kid would have ruined a lot more then the relationship between Lasy with a C and Tyler, it would have been the end of Eclipselasy and Whostyler as well.
Lasy stood up. "Gotta go."
Tyler understood as he nodded, getting to his feet. "Yeah, I better go too. I should warn a friend about something."
He was talking about Wednesday, she knew it.
Lasy nodded her head and inhaled, raising her index and middle finger in a peace sign as she walked to the door. Tyler followed her with his eyes as he gave a questionable look before raising his two fingers back.
He then realized she hadn't ordered anything at all.
Lasy got back to her car and collapsed in her front seat, exhaling loudly like she'd ran for miles. One hand gripped the wheel as the other rubbed her chest, inhaling and exhaling. She gaped her mouth slightly so her fangs stopped stabbing her gums, on full display in her rear view mirror. She smiled some, shutting her eyes to laugh and near an anxiety attack all at once.
