Aletta Everdeen was currently in the bar as she cheered for Lucy Gray Baird, her best friend, who was singing.

The two meet when they were young, Lucy's family were travelling performers but got stuck in district 12 and soon after her parents died and the girls had been inseparable ever since, they are each others family in every but blood.

Aleta's parents had abandoned her, when she was a baby, but she didn't care that she was a orphan because she has her sister and the covey.

It was the day before the reaping and people were on edge trying to forget their fears and Lucy's singing had a way of doing that, Aletta could sing to, she enjoyed it especially with Lucy but she was more artistically inclined.

Lucy Gray smiled as she jumped of stage and towards Aletta.

" That was amazing as usual " Aletta smiled as she kissed Lucy Gray's cheek and passed her a drink.

" Lucy Gray " Billy called out as he stumbled towards them.

" No, I don't want to talk to you " Lucy Gray snapped.

Billy was Lucy Gray's ex - boyfriend, who had cheated on her with the mayor's daughter.

" I said, I want to talk " Billy said grabbing her arm.

" Let her go, Billy.....unless you want a matching black eye " Aletta glared.

When Aletta found out Billy cheated, she may have lost her temper and punched him in the face.

" Keep losing you temper like that and it might just get you in trouble " Billy scoffed.

Aletta rolled her eyes and grabbed Lucy Gray's hand " Let's go Lu " Aletta said as she and Lucy Gray go to leave but Billy grabbed the aburn haired girl arm " let go of me before you regret it ".

" Like you could do anything, Aletta....your nothing but a pathetic slut, who doesn't deserve to be loved" Billy spat with venom.

Aletta tugged her arm out of his grip and grabbed the beer jar off the table and smashed it on his head as she yelled " what were you saying? ".

Lucy Gray laughed and quickly grabbed Aletta and they ran out of the hand in hand and they slowed down once they were further from the bar.

" That was amazing....have I ever told how much I love you " Lucy Gray laughed.

" Yes, but I could get used to hearing it more " Aletta smiled as they linked arms and returned home to the covey.

Aletta was currently laying in bed trying to fall asleep, when she heard her door open and she saw Lucy Gray shut the door behind her and climbed into Aletta's bed.

" Are you okay, Lu? " Aletta turned to face Lucy Gray.

" I'm just scared that your gonna get picked " Lucy Gray said.

" And I'm scared that your gonna get picked " Aletta sighed and smiled reassuringly " But even if one of us is.....we're gonna do everything we can to survive and return to each other ".

" Promise " Lucy Gray sighed and held pinky out.

" Promise " Aletta smiled and linked their pinky's before they both kissed them.
