19. Y.M.C.A. (Minions Version).
______
When Emersyn woke, she was no longer in the Lockwood manor, instead, she was in her own bed in her and her fathers small cottage by the falls. She frowned in confusion as she looked around the room before pulling the covers off her body.
She was in the same clothes she had been wearing the day before, the only difference was that her shoes had been taken off.
She frowned in confusion. Not sure how she had gotten there, she got out of the warmth of her bed before walking down to the kitchen where she assumed her father would be.
Like she had assumed, her father was sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee in his hand while holograms surrounded him.
Emersyn moved down to sit beside him after making herself a cup. The cup was warm to the touch as she held it with both of her hands.
"Good morning," she said softly as she took a sip of the piping hot coffee.
"Hey, kiddo. Made some new friends?"
Her nose scrunched, she had only hoped it wasn't Elijah who had brought her home. Please be Elena. Please be Elena, she begged.
"He seemed nice," Tony told her, a smirk on his lips.
Fuck.
"Um, yeah. He is, I guess."
"Are you dating him?"
Emersyn choked on her coffee, "God no. Ew. He is way too old for me."
"So was Wonder Boy. Clearly, you have a type."
The younger Stark rolled her eyes, "Come on, Dad. Can we not talk about who I find attractive? Not this early, at least?"
Tony smiled at his daughter, "Of course, honey. We are gonna talk about why he was bringing you home unconscious though."
Emersyn groaned dramatically, "Do we have too?"
"Yep." His eyes moved from the hologram to see her, "Come on. Tell me what's going on."
"It's kind of a secret. Or, that's what they like to say even though half the town knows."
"Great! Then you can tell me and I can be included in this half of the town."
Emersyn laughed at her fathers enthusiasm. "Alright, fine. Well, the guy you met last night, he's Elijah Mikaelson. He's a vampire, so you know, he sucks blood and stuff. He's basically Dracula's less cool nephew. And so his brother, Klaus, has come to town and is trying to murder Elena, my friend because she has special blood that will break some curse."
Tony stared at her, "That wasn't what I was expecting. I thought you were just in some weird orgy. So, this Klaus guy, he's a vampire too?"
"From what I know, yeah."
"And Elena, she's the girl you told me about before? She's a human?"
"Yes to both."
"How many vampires are in this town?"
"Well, there's Stefan, Damon, Caroline, Elijah and Klaus and Katherine too if she's still hanging around."
"Who's Katherine?"
"Elena's doppelganger from five centuries ago."
"Bitch is old."
Emersyn grinned, "Very. But Klaus and Elijah are older. They are the oldest vampires in existence. Elijah said he had been alive for over a millennium."
"Jesus, he's older than the fossils," Tony muttered, referencing Steve and Bucky.
"You didn't let him come inside, did you?" Emersyn asked.
"Nope. I went outside and took you from him... After telling him I would shoot him if he ever touched you again."
Emersyn grinned, "Thanks, Dad. Just remember to never let these fuckers in the house. They can't come in unless you invite them in. And, um, there is this herb you can drink to stop them from being able to mind control you. You should drink it and wear it just in case."
Tony nodded, "Alright, honey... Are you sure all this is safe? I can't lose you again."
"If it isn't safe, I'll let you know. Okay?"
"Okay."
When Emersyn arrived at the boarding house, she was met with a crossbow being pointed at her. "Oh, lovely."
Beside her, stood Alaric and across from her was Jenna. "Get out," the woman said, her voice stern and pointed toward Alaric.
"Jenna," he held up his hands, "Jenna."
"Get out," she repeated.
"Jenna, put the crossbow down, okay? It's me."
Emersyn glanced at him and noticed his hair was messier and less well kept than the last time she had seen him. His clothing also looked like what he would normally wear as opposed to what Klaus had been wearing when she met him the day before.
"Stay away," Jenna persisted as Elena and Elijah walked into the room, Stefan and Damon trailing along as well.
"What's going on?" Elena asked.
"It's me, Elena. I swear, okay. He let me go. Klaus let me go."
"Prove it."
Alaric looked around awkwardly, "Okay. Uh, the first night you and I spent together, Jeremy walked inโ"
"Okay, it's him," Jenna said, cutting him off.
Emersyn smirked, "Poor Jeremy."
"Why did he let you go?"
"He wanted me to deliver a message. Sacrifice happens tonight."
Damon glanced at Emersyn, "Who's the chick?"
"Oh, shit. Right. Sorry, I forgot." Emersyn pulled off the nano mask, revealing her face. "Did you miss me?"
"So you don't remember anything that happened?" Stefan asked. They had moved to the parlor, Emersyn was seated on the loveseat with Elena and Jenna next to her while Alaric sat alone with Stefan and Elijah surrounding them.
"No. It's like I blacked out, and woke up three days later. Katherine was there."
Stefan nodded, "She's under compulsion. Damon snuck her some vervain. Can't leave till Klaus tells her she can."
Elena looked around the room, "Where is Damon?"
"I saw him go upstairs," Jenna told her before watching the girl walk off toward the staircase.
Alaric looked around the room before his eyes settled on Jenna, "So what else did I do?"
After only a few minutes of Elena leaving, the sound of her screams filled the house causing everyone to run toward Damon's bedroom. By the time Emersyn reached the room, Elena was on the floor, blood covering her mouth as she gagged on the thick substance. Stefan had a wooden stake in his stomach while Damon held the other end of it.
As Stefan fell to his knees, Emersyn acted quickly as her fist was covered by metal before she shot a blast of energy at Damon's chest, knocking him across the room.
"Get out of here!" Elena yelled as she ran to Stefan's side.
"What the hell is going on?" Alaric asked as he and Jenna reached the room.
"Get him out of here!"
Jenna moved to step into the room but stopped when she saw the wooden post lodged into Stefan's stomach. "Oh my god."
As Alaric went to grab Damon's arm, he was knocked back. Stefan groaned in agony as Damon walked out of the room alone.
"Okay, Jenna, downstairs in the basement are some blood bags. Go get them, now. Go!"
Emersyn winced as she watched Elena pull the stake out of Stefan, earning a scream from the man as he fell to the floor in pain.
"It's okay," Elena muttered as she placed his head in her lap. "It's okay. You're okay. You're gonna be okay."
Stefan looked up at her, "I'm so sorry."
Elena shushed him as she held his face, "It's okay."
He groaned, "I'm sorry."
Emersyn closed her eyes for a moment before leaving the room. Walking down back to the parlor where she could no longer hear Stefan's pants, she saw Damon and Elijah.
"Sounds like you wont be needing this anymore," the Original spoke. "Feeding her vampire blood rendered it useless. Tell Elena I'll be back before nightfall. We'll proceed as planned."
"We both know that elixir wouldn't have worked, anyway."
Elijah looked at him, "Your problem, Damon... you talk a good game, but you don't actually know anything. She'll never forgive you. And never for a vampire... It's a very long time."
Emersyn looked at Damon as Elijah left the room.
"Don't start," he told her as he downed a glass of bourbon.
"I wasn't going to. Come on, change your shirt and meet me outside."
He grumbled before stomping off. After a few minutes of waiting, he met her out in the driveway. "What?"
"You need to calm down, Damon," Emersyn told him as she placed her mask back on her face. "So, I know the best way for you is to drink the pain away. Which place has the best booze here?"
Damon looked at her, "I thought you hated me."
"Hate's a strong word. Let's just say I don't particularly like you. That doesn't mean I'm not gonna help you out though when you very clearly need some. I would offer a therapist but I don't think you'll go along with that."
Walking into the Mystic Grill, Emersyn and Damon immediately sat at the bar. Almost immediately, the bartender came over to serve them both. Emersyn chuckled when she saw that he already knew Damon's order.
After Damon's drink was poured, the bartender looked over at her, "What can I get you, Miss?"
"Chocolate milk and a cheeseburger with fries, please?"
He smiled, "Coming right up."
A few seconds later, Alaric joined them, sitting on Emersyn's right so that she was in between the two men. "I'll have the same as him," he told the bartender before he could walk away.
"I screwed up," Damon admitted.
"Yeah. Yeah, you did," Alaric told him.
Soon, Emersyn's food came over along with Alaric's drink. Smiling, the Stark delved into the burger.
Damon went to take a fry, but his hand was quickly swatted away by Emersyn. "My food. Fuck off."
"Gentleman, lady, why so glum?" a voice asked behind them. Emersyn ignored it, however, as she was much more focused on the fries she was stuffing into her mouth.
"Klaus, I presume," Damon said with a groan.
"In the flesh," he responded, looking over at Alaric, "Thanks for the loaner, mate."
"Any reason you stopped by to say hi?"
"I'm told you and your brother fancy my doppelganger. Just thought I'd remind you not to try anything you'll regret."
Damon sent him a forced smile, "Thanks for the advice. I don't suppose I could talk you into a postponement... by any chance, huh?"
"You are kidding. He's kidding, right?"
Alaric looked at him, "No. Not really."
"I mean, what's one month in the grand scheme of things?" Damon asked, helplessly.
"Let me be clear. I have my vampire. I have my werewolf. I have everything I need. The ritual will happen tonight. So if you want to live to see tomorrow, don't screw it up." His face morphed into a smile as he looked at Emersyn, "And love?"
She didn't look up.
Klaus frowned.
"She's in food heaven right now," Damon explained.
She wasn't. She was trying her best to focus on anything that wasn't the serial killer that stood directly behind her.
Klaus smiled, "I see."
As the Original left, Alaric looked at Damon, "That was fun. You're gonna screw it up, aren't you?"
"You think if I took his werewolf out, she might get over the fact... I tried to turn her into a vampire?"
"It won't matter because you'll be dead," Emersyn told him, taking her eyes off of her plate.
"But without the werewolf, he can't perform the ritual which means I would have bought her one month."
"And you'll still be dead."
"You gonna help me or what?" Damon asked.
Alaric sighed, "What do you want me to do?"
Before the two men could notice, Emersyn slipped out, leaving them with the bill while she walked out to her car.
Opening the door, she sat in the driver's seat as the car started itself. Letting out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding, she leaned her head against the headrest.
"Long day?" a voice asked from beside her.
Opening her eyes quickly, she pulled out the gun from beneath her seat and pointed it at the person in the passenger seat.
She sighed when she saw his face, "Great. It's you."
He looked at the gun for a moment before his eyes met hers, "It's me. Now will you put the bloody gun down, love?"
"I'd rather not."
He rolled his eyes before grabbing the gun from her, forcing it out of her hands.
"Hey! That's my favourite! Give it back."
"You're gonna shoot me if I give it back to you."
"Well, you would deserve it if I did."
Klaus rolled his eyes, "I would, yes. But I happen to quite like this shirt."
"Why? It's ugly. And so is your hair. You should grow it out. It looks like shit. It would look a lot better if it was an inch longer at the top and tapered at the sidesโ"
"Are you always this judgmental with your potential killers?"
She shrugged, "Yeah, actually. Except then we usually become friends so I think it works out in my favor."
"You're very strange."
"Says the person who kills people and eats them afterwards."
He grinned, "You got me there, love. Have I earned your name yet?"
"I don't know. Are you gonna kill me?"
"Not yet."
"Comforting."
"Extremely. I've been told I have a comforting aura."
"I'm sure. Who told you that? The last person you killed?"
"Yes, actually."
Emersyn looked at him, "Can you fuck off? I have places to be."
"And where are those places?"
The Stark rolled her eyes, "You're very fucking nosy, you know that?"
"So I've been told. Do I need to compel you?"
"You can't, cocksucker."
His eyes widened in surprise at her vulgar language, but a smile soon took place on his lips, "My, my, do you kill your mother with that mouth?"
"My mom's dead, asshole. Can you leave me alone now?"
"It depends. Where are you going?"
"Well, considering you are on your way to kill one of my only friends, I was gonna go home and try not to think about it."
"And where is home?" he pressed.
"Like I'd tell you. You'd probably try to kill me in my sleep."
"If I wanted to kill you, I would have done it already."
"If I tell you my name, will you leave me alone?"
"Maybe."
She looked at him.
"Okay, fine. I will leave you alone."
"My name is Max."
"You're lying," he grinned. "I can hear your heartbeat."
Emersyn groaned, "Fine. Okay. It's Emersyn. You happy?"
"Incredibly. It's been lovely talking to you, Emersyn. Perhaps I will earn your last name in our next meeting."
"Probably not."
He smiled before he disappeared, leaving the door open in his wake. Emersyn rolled her eyes, "Dick! Close the fucking door!"
A second passed before the door was suddenly shut.
"Thank you!"
When Emersyn arrived home, opened the door and was met by Tony. "Oh, kid, you're home. Great, I needed you."
"What for?" she asked, taking off her shoes before following him into the built in lab, not noticing the man outside watching them.
"I've been working on a new suit but I can't figure out how to make it function properly. I think I'm missing something."
Emersyn nodded as she pulled off her mask before pulling up the holograms. Setting the mask down, she stared up at the blue lights. "Your algorithms are all wrong, dad. You just wrote it out wrong. If you switch it around and make it this..." she trailed off, glancing over at Tony, "What?"
He smiled, "Nothing. You take care of the suit. I'll take care of the music. Friday?"
"Yes, Mr. Stark."
"Play Emersyn's most recent playlist."
"Wait! No!"
"Playing best songs to have sex to."
Tony frowned in disgust at the name, only for the Canadian National Anthem to begin to play through the room's speakers.
"Jesus Christ."
"What? It's got good rhythm."
"No it doesn't! Next song, Fri."
"Now playing 'Gangnam Style' by Psy."
"I swear to god, Emersyn."
"That's not even the best one, dad."
After a few minutes, the song changed. From across the room, Tony slammed a wrench on a workbench. "Why the fuck is Y.M.C.A. from the minions on this playlist!?"
Outside, the man watching them grinned before disappearing in the night.ย
