The silence in the room was much too loud. Nobody made a sound or said a single word.

Xiao never let go of the gun that he took and threw away from you after picking it back up on his way out of the Council's building.

There were no more tears to waste, everyone was empty. They were just four helpless people sitting around in a luxurious apartment room, doing nothing. What could they possibly do? They needed you, and you weren't there.

After sitting around and staring at the ground for 3 hours straight, they heard two slow knocks on the door.

Everyone stood up in a panic, their heavy breaths were heard. All of them backed away from the door besides Xiao, who took more steps closer to the door.

"Xiao!..."

Finally, someone had said something.

Xiao firmly put his hand on the doorknob.

Childe

"Xiao, don't! It could be one of the Infected!"

Xiao

"It could be someone from Teyvat."

Hu Tao

"You've got a point, but we shouldn't take the risk!"

Xiao

"So you're telling me that we should leave our comrades out there to die. Is that right?"

Hu Tao

"No- I didn't intend to say such a thing!"

Ignoring the possibilities, Xiao turned the doorknob and swung open the door like it was nothing. He shut his eyes closed, holding your gun up to whoever was at the door.

"Holy sh-"

"You?!"

"Wh- How?!"

"Is it really..."

Scaramouche

"Nah, they've gotta be some kind of fake!"

Scaramouche angrily walked up to this person at the door, violently grabbing their neck and staring at a specific mark.

"Ow! Scara, that fucking hurts!"

"Shit!... I didn't actually think-"

Xiao

"Y/N?..."

"God- Do I really have to say this again? It's really me! Y/N!"

This person standing at the door with blood dripping down their neck just happened to be... You.

"But- How?! I, Xiao and Scaramouche all saw you get eaten by Zhongli!"

"Oh yeah, it's um... Complicated... Xiao- Can you put the gun down now?! Plus, you're not even holding it right. If you were to pull the trigger, the bullet would only be shot down at your feet."

"So- Apparently, I can't... Get infected."

Scaramouche

"How?! Do you have some kind of special blood or something?... Are you not human?!"

"Scaramouche, Zhongli isn't human, yet he was still bitten..."

"Y'know, I honestly... Don't even know why I didn't become Infected. I remember Zhongli giving me this fat ass hickey because he's a rude ass bitch, I was screaming, but then he just backed away and left me on the ground. After a good 30 minutes, I was just laying there and I was wondering why I hadn't been Infected yet. So then I got up from the ground and started looking for you around the entire building, but I found nothing. And yes, I did walk all the way here. You guys made me walk a whole 2 hours!"

Childe

"... My bad."

Xiao

"So... There's no complete reason why you didn't get Infected?"

You

"I mean- I guess so? It's almost as if... I am Infected, but yet I'm still not Infected, y'know?"

Hu Tao

"And... How are you sure of this?"

You

"Okay- If I were Infected, I'd look like them."

You pointed to the far side of the hallway, where a few of the Infected were just walking around.

You

"But surprisingly, I'm still able to take control of my own brain. But the thing is, the Infected literally don't do anything to me at all. I found this out when I was searching for you guys in the Council building. I even tried provoking one, and it did no shit to me."

Scaramouche, Childe, and Hu Tao began to back away from you as you explained the rest of your story.

"... What?"

Hu Tao

"After all this time... Your neck's still bleeding?..."

You

"Well... A wound like this can't-"

Childe

"Your eyes are really red too..."

Scaramouche

"Xiao, we can't trust them."

Xiao

"...?!"

You

"What?! Guys, I just told you, I'm totally o-"

Scaramouche

"No, you aren't!"

Scaramouche suddenly snapped.

Scaramouche

"We saw you get bitten, it's not safe anymore!"

You

"But-"

Xiao

"Sure, we saw Y/N get bitten, but they're not acting like the other Infected."

Scaramouche

"There he goes again."

Childe

"Okay!... Okay... Xiao could you just... Come over here for a minute?"

Xiao lazily walked over to the others as you just stood at the door.

Scaramouche

"We can't trust them."

Xiao

"The only reason why we're living right now is because of them."

Hu Tao

"But they've been bitten!"

Childe

"I'm stuck here. Should we trust them or not?"

"We should trust them!"

You watched them, hearing their inaudible whispering.

"Scaramouche. We can't get home without them."

"Then again, Y/N does know quite a lot about both their own universe and Teyvat, a world that they've never gone to before. If a half-infected-human being- Well- Whatever we'll call them, if Y/N's got the skills, then we obviously need them."

Scaramouche

"Even though they do look a bit scary with those red eyes of theirs, they should've completely turned into one of the Infected in under a few seconds after they were bitten..."

"Hey, could I sleep now? You guys did make me walk a whole 2 hours anyways."

Scaramouche

"Huh?! Not here!"

"You could bite us in our sleep!"

"Huh? Nonsense. I haven't gotten the urge to bite anyone."

"Yeah, not yet."

You scoffed.

"So what, you just want me to sleep outside?!"

"You know what, yeah! I want you to sleep anywhere that isn't near us!"

Even though they trusted you, that was only when they were aware of your actions - when they're awake. When they're unaware of your actions, they really can't trust you.

"Okay!... I'll sleep outside then."

Everyone watched you slowly back away, they were obviously scared of you. You then turned the doorknob, lightly opened the door, then lightly closed it.

Scaramouche

"Jeez... At least we're safe."

Childe

"Mhm..."

Everyone had access to the shower, food, and water except you. All you could do for hours was sit on the blood-stained ground. Despite the fact that you were utterly exhausted, you couldn't seem to shake the feeling that your friends didn't trust you, which kept you awake for a long time.
