The next day, Karan was sleeping lifelessly on his bed with wrinkles forming on his forehead. As he was not able to sleep as he was mentally disturbed, the doctors gave him sedatives as healing his physical wounds was necessary.

Batra sir, Ustadji, Faizi and Sanju came in his ward and their eyes started getting numb seeing him sleep with tensed expressions. Suddenly Karan started shouting and sweating in sleep. He was turning his head from left to right and moving his hands as if he's trying to grab something. The trio saw this and immediately rushed towards him. Faizi held Karan's left hand and tried to calm him down and Batra sir did so from the right. While Sanju was standing near his feet.

Faizi - Karan! Karan uthh! You're having a nightmare. Uth Karan!

Karan (in sleep) - Mat jao! Mujhe chhodkar mat jao Monami!

Batra sir - Shergill utho!

Karan didn't get up and was breathing heavily while sweating profusely as he was getting nightmare when Monami's life ended.

Karan - Monami! Mat jao, Rani Sahiba!

Qismat Ne Kyun Humko Mila Diya

Sanju picked up the jar of water from the side table and sprinkled some water on Karan's facing resulting in breaking of his nightmare. He woke up with heavy breaths and immediately hugged Faizi tightly. Karan too wanted to calm himself as he is being a commando, knew that it won't be good for his brain. After taking few deep breaths, Karan's breaths got even, and he too stabilized himself and sat straight on the bed. Batra sir, Faizi and Sanju noticed his red puffy eyes which indicated that he'd crying since the whole night. Batra sir took a deep breath and composed himself to talk to Karan.

Batra sir - Shergill, mujhe tumse kuchh kehna tha.

Karan - Ye..yes sir.

Batra sir looked at Ustadji and she went out and returned in just few minutes with a large box in her hand and kept it near Karan.

Karan - Isme kya hai?

Sanju - Si..sirji, vo isme..Monami ki cheezein hai. Jo blast si..te se mili hain.

Karan immediately looked towards and held it closed to his chest as if he's hugging Monami. His eyes were closed as he was trying to absorb everything.

Faizi - Ek baar kholkar to dekhle ise.

Karan nodded weakly and Batra sir opened the box for him with trembling hands. Everyone's eyes got numb when they saw Monami's half-burnt cadet uniform. Karan picked it up and hugged it tightly as if he's hugging his Monami and feeling her essence in her clothes. His eyes started to shed tears when he realized that this uniform used to contain her mesmerizing fragrance and today it is smelling of dirt and fire.

Sanju picked up Monami's cadet ID card and rubbed her thumb on her name. She still remembers the day when she noticed her potential and spirit of being an excellent commando during the jungle treck. Faizi and Batra sir's heart was clenching seeing their friend cum brother and junior cum son being broken and shattered like this.

Batra sir - Shergill, get ready. Hume vapis academy jana hoga.

Karan looked up to Batra sir with a jolt and in utter shock. He couldn't think anything as his mind went completely blank.

Karan (in a shattered state) - Na..nahi sir! Main..main academy nahi ja sakta!

Batra sir was quite surprised and felt some internal breakage in himself as his best commando was being so scared of the place where he works, where he performs his duty, and which is his second home!

Batra sir - Shergill! Ye tum kya keh rahe ho!?

Karan - Haan, haan sir. Main..main academy nahi jaunga.

Faizi held Karan by his shoulders and made him face him.

Faizi - Karan, tera dimaag kharab ho gaya hai kya!? Tu academy kyu nahi jaega?

Karan - Faizi..Faizi tu meri baat samajh na. Va..vaha meri Monami ki yaadein hain. Main kaise jiyunga uske bina! Aur..aur main Sid..dharth ko kya jawaab dunga ki uski Monu bro....

By these lines, Karan broke into tears in Faizi's arms itself. He was crying non-stop even after constant sympathizing of Batra sir, Ustadji, Sanju and Faizi. But Karan was also not wrong at his place as no one can imagine how will Sid react when he'll come to know about the truth. All the present people were facing a really hard time to control their emotions to flow out as tears as they have to be strong for Karan.

Ustadji - Sirji, aisa thode hi hota hai.

Sanju - Haan sirji, zara sochiye Monami ko kaisa lagega ye sab dekhkar.

As soon as Karan heard Monami's name, his eyes again welled up, but he didn't let his tears fall as he was trying to be a little strong.

Karan - I'm ready sir...Main aca..demy jaunga.

All smiled a little bit as they were successful in convincing Karan to got to the academy. Karan got ready and they departed to got to the academy. Batra sir, Ustadji and Sanju were in one car whereas Karan and Faizi were in one jeep together. When they were going to the academy, Faizi noticed that Karan was looking at nothing and was all silent. Faizi knew the reason of his silence and he's feeling immensely bad that he cannot do anything.

Faizi (in mind) - Kitna sukoon mila tha hume uss din, Monami. Jab humare Janabji ne apne aas-paas ki walls girakar firse bolne, hasne, khelne wale ho gaye. Aur aaj fir tum use yun chup karke chali gayi! Kyu Monami? Kyu!?

Faizi got tears in his eyes seeing his Janabji's condition, still he decided to talk to Karan.

Faizi (hesitantly) - Ka..Karan, yaar tu chup kyu hai?

Karan turned his face towards Faizi and Faizi was shocked to see his red blood shot eyes which had only sadness filled.

Faizi (in mind) - Ya allah! Karan ki ye halat! Hume kuchh to karna padega nahi to...

Faizi thought of the worst happenings in his mind but shrugged them off immediately. He applied breaks to the jeep and parked it on a corner. Faizi pulled Karan in his embrace and hugged him tightly as he was immensely concerned for his best friend's condition. He started rubbing Karan's back as he noticed that Karan's breaths were getting heavy.

Faizi - Karan, tu...tu theek hai na?

Karan (in broken voice) - Tujhe lagta hai main theek hounga!?

Faizi - Karan..sab theek hho jaega yaar.

Karan moved away from Faizi's hug as he was shocked that how could Faizi say so.

Karan (shocked yet loud voice) - Kya? Kya kaha tune? Sab theek ho jaega!? KAISE!!!

Faizi was tongue tied at Karan's question. He himself knew that nothing could be done now as God has played his game of destiny and separated the Dhadkan from her Dil.

Faizi - Vo..vo...

Karan - Faizi tu aca..demy chal. Ab kuchh nahi ho sakta. Chali gayi vo!

Karan said so in a wet voice and as Faizi was about to say something, Karan glared at him with his blood shot eyes and ordered him to take him to the academy. When both the cars reached the academy, Karan looked here and there and all he could see was his Monami!

He looked towards the main gate of the academy with tears trickling down his cheeks and remembered a girl who fought and argued with him just to get entry in the academy to fulfill her dream of being a commando. 

He couldn't control anymore and ran inside the academy followed by Batra sir, Ustadji, Faizi and Sanju. He looked towards the wall and remembered the heart-to-heart talks he had with Monami after their romantic date. He could see her standing there in his arms, all dressed up in that beautiful red dress. He smiled faintly with tint of happiness occupying his heart. But as he took a step ahead to touch Monami, she was again gone! This broke Karan more and he fell on his knees.

Batra sir, Ustadji, Faizi and Sanju who were standing and witnessed Karan's actions, also had their hearts broken and they were unable to take Karan's sorrows. They all wished to God for betterment in Karan's state. But as soon as Karan was going to let out his pain in form of whails, the lights turned on and all could hear 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY MONAMI!'

The cadets planned a birthday surprise for Monami as it was her first birthday in the academy and that too with her Khadoos Shergill. But little did they know that her first birthday with Karan is going to be her last birthday! Siddharth, Koel, Bala, Chitra, Sumanji and Premji along with some other cadets did decoration in the hanger area and got a huge cake for Monami which was of her favorite flavor and placed it in the middle. They also got many presents for her as she was everyone's favorite. Batra sir, Ustadji, Sanju and Faizi got their eyes wide as they were very much scared of Karan's reaction and what is going to be his condition now. Karan who was sitting on the floor on his knees got up in utter shock and looked around to believe what his eyes are seeing.

Karan - Main..main kaise bhool gaya ki aaj to me..ri Rani..Sahi..ba ka birthday hai..aur aaj hi ke din..vo....

Karan couldn't control anymore and ran towards his room as his inner commando didn't permit to breakdown in front of anyone. While the cadets were hell confused by Karan's action and mostly his words. Sid went towards Sanju and saw her with suspicion in his eyes and a thumping heart.

Sid - San..Sanju, sach-sach batana kaha hai Monu? Vo theek to hai na? Aur ye Karan sir kya bol kar gaye?

Sanju (with tears and head hung low) - Sid..dharth vo...

Sid - Bolo Sanju!

Sanju was unable to answer as her voice was not ready to leave her throat. Sid's heart was sinking on seeing Sanju's silence, so he moved to Faizi and asked him the very same question but got only complete silence as his answer. Now, the rest of the cadets were also quite scared, majorly due to Karan's actions.

Sid (shouting) - Koi to bata do kaha hai meri Monu bro!!!

Batra sir signalled at Ustadji and he nodded.

Ustadji - Sabhi cadets, abhi ke abhi apne dorms mein jao.

Sid - Nahi! Main...main nahi nahi jaunga. Kaha hai Monu!?

Suddenly all heard a heavy voice from the back, all filled with pain. Sid turned and saw Karan standing there in a devasted state. His eyes were red filled with agony and sadness and his face had zero emotions. Sid was surprised seeing him shedding tears like this. Many negative thoughts occupied his mind but at the moment, he shrugged off his doubt and went towards Karan.

Sid - Si..r batao na, kaha hai meri Monu bro?

Karan - Chali gayi vo!

Sid - Ka..kaha chali gayi!?

Karan (in a broken yet proud voice)- Chali gayi...tujhe aur mujhe chhodkar, humesha-humesha ke liye! SHAHEED HO GAYI VO!

After hearing Karan's words, all the cadets present their, were shocked to the core. They couldn't believe what they heard. Everyone got tears in their eyes remembering Monami. While Sid felt something breaking inside him, maybe his heart. He couldn't believe that his Monu bro left him...forever! Sid's eyes started to shed tears of grief while his face was also emotionless and pale. This is what surprised everyone and especially, Sanju. Bala was very much affected as his 'Doctor madam' was like an elder sister to an orphan like him. She made him feel special by calling him as a part of their small family, but today he has become an orphan again. 

Complete silence replaced the joyful environment of the academy and sorrow and longingness occupied two peoples' lives. They were Karan and Sid who have lost their sunshine and their reason to live! Karan was in his room with Faizi, and Sid was in his room with Sanju. Karan and Sid were staring at nothing, and their tears were not halting. They've indeed started to miss Monami already, so what will happen to them when they've to spend their whole lives without her...

In Sid's room, Sid was having an album in his hands and was turning its pages reminiscing Monami and their sweet and bitter memories.

He remembered how she fought with Walnut to fulfill her dream. But she's gone before becoming an Army Doctor like her Mumma. He remembers how she makes him believe in himself and that he is not 'useless' as his dad taunts him. But now she's not there to support him, to make him believe in himself, to be with him!

He remembers how he was teasing her on the picnic when she accidentally confessed about her interest in Karan. He remembers the way she was blushing and trying to avoid him. But now she has avoided both Sid and Karan, forever!

He remembers how she supported him and helped him when he was trying to be Sanju's friend and was trying to gain her trust, even when she was heartbroken. But now, she won't come to help him out with his problems. 

He remembers her condition when Karan rejected her. But also, how excited when Karan proposed to her. Today, she has gone forever leaving even her Khadoos Shergill all broken!

Sid - Mo..Monu! Yaar, tu..ne itni jaldi..ky..u mera sa..ath chhod diya! Haan? Kya ga..galti hui mujhse jo tu hum..esha ke liye ch..hod gayi!

Sanju (trying to explain him) - Siddharth, aise mat kaho. Toe se koi galti na hui hogo!

Sid - San..ju tum chahe kuchh bhi kehlo..ma..magar...Monu to...

And he bursted into bitter tears while remembering his Monu bro. Sanju hugged him tight and was rubbing his back constantly as his breaths got heavier. But soon she observed that there's no activity in Sid and when she checked, she found out that he has slept due to constant crying. Sanju sighed sadly looking at his condition and laid him on the bed covering him with a blanket and moved out. 

Meanwhile in Karan's room, Faizi made Karan sleep but forcefully as he was crying again and again while remembering his Rani Sahiba.

Koel, Bala, Chitra, Sumanji and Premji were gathered in Koel's room and were shedding silent tears. They were there since the past 20 minutes, but none of them said anything as they were all covered by grief, sorrow and sadness. They all were missing Monami a lot as she has helped everyone atleast once and made a special place in their hearts.

Koel - Thank you Monami! Mujhe uss monster ke muh se nikalne ke liye. Tu..tumse kabhi theek se baat tak nahi ki thi. Magar kab..bhi laga nahi tha ki...tum ek behen ban jaogi! Aur ek din..aise chali bhi jao..gi!

Bala remembered how his 'Doctor madam' treated him like her younger brother.

Bala - Doc..tor madam, aap aaj fir..iss ana..rth ko anarth karke chali gayi!

Bala started crying loudly remembering how selfless and loving Monami was.

Chitra - #Mo, #why you left us all #so early?

Sumanji - Sumanji, Monami ko bahot yaad kar rahi hai. Academy ki to jaan thi Monami! Pata nahi bhagwaan kyu achhe logo ke saath ki bura karta hai!?

Premji - Bilkul satya kaha, Sumanji. Monami ki vajeh se iss academy mein kitni raunak rehti thi. Vo jaha bhi jati thi, kisi ko rota nahi dekh sakti thi. Magar aaj sabko rula kar chali gayi!

All nodded and left for their rooms. No one could sleep that night as they couldn't believe that till yesterday, Monami was with them and today, just in a blink of eye...she is gone! They could do nothing except crying on their bitter and unfair fate.
