Chapter 5) The Explanation

7:00 AM

After a peaceful night of sleep, I finally awoken from my slumber and I was ready to meet up with Paul to discuss some business. Packing my things together, I glanced over at my newly won Universal Championship from last night and it felt surreal to have it back around my shoulder for the first time in a couple of years.

"Time to go." I said to myself.

I walked out of the hotel room with my luggage and drove over to the Thunderdome arena where the business meeting was being held between Shane and Paul. After I finally arrived to the Thunderdome arena, there stood Shane and Paul awaiting my arrival.

I stepped out of my car and shook Shane's hand with a smile on my face while carrying my championship across my shoulder as we walked into the building and went into Shane's small office room to discuss my first feud.

"Roman! I'm so glad to see you again."

"It's nice to see you too, Shane."

"About this business meeting, we already have your first storyline planned out."

"Shoot."

"You're going to have your first storyline with your cousin, Jey Uso."

"That's funny because he came over to my house not too long ago and informed me about that. I was just waiting to see if it was legit before I said anything."

"Alright, so your feud is going to start next week and it will lead up to Clash of Champions. Where you will face your cousin for the Universal Championship."

"Sounds like a plan to me, Shane."

After the business meeting, I made my way back home to spend some time with my family before making another trip down to Orlando on Thursday to prepare for SmackDown.

SmackDown - September 4, 2020

Last week, everyone found out about Paul and I's alliance together and everyone on social media lost their minds the moment they seen him sitting next to me as Adam Pearce was showing us the Payback contract.

WWE management informed Paul and I that we were kicking off the show tonight to explain the reason as to why Paul was my advocate. We made our way down the ramp and everyone in the Thunderdome was a mixture between cheers and boos.

As we made our way into the ring and stepped in between the ropes, I allowed Paul to speak on the microphone first while I held my Universal Championship and glared into the camera.

"Just when you thought I was out, he pulled me back in." Paul said, pointing at me. "Oh, and please don't make fools of yourselves and embarrass yourselves, pointing your accusatory fingers towards me for corrupting him; because I assure you it's him corrupting me."

I continued to stare into the camera and remained silent.

"Let me ask you a question. What happened to the thank you and the appreciation through all the selfish executive decisions, through life-threatening illnesses that this man delivered? I'm going to tell you this one time so that you get it through your thick, unappreciative skulls. Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Paul Heyman, and I serve as special council to the Tribal Chief. Your reigning, defending, undisputed Universal Heavyweight Champion, Roman Reigns."

After Paul was finished speaking, he placed the microphone into my hand.

"I'm a man of my word. I did exactly what I said I was gonna do at Payback. I signed the contract; I wrecked The Fiend, I wrecked the monster and I left, as the Universal Heavyweight Champion. And at Clash of Champions, I don't care who I face. Feed them in and watch them all get slaughtered. Because this is my island! And when you have this kind of power, all you gotta do is show up and win. Believe that."

After Paul and I ended our little segment, we walked backstage and we heard clapping emerge and it was my cousin, Jey. He approached me with excitement in his voice and I had to remain in character throughout the backstage segment.

Jey greeted me with a hug and I began to smile.

"Ah yes sir! Yes sir. Welcome back! The new Universal Champion!" Jey said. "You made the whole family proud! Me, Jimmy, Trin! I've been calling you and texting you the whole week. What's the deal?" Jey asked.

"I've been busy, man."

I said something underneath my breath towards Paul and he nodded. "Yes sir."

"I gotta ask you something, man. What are you doing with Pauley? You trust him?"

"Don't worry about it."

"After all that he put you through?"

I interrupted him.

"I got it all under control. Trust me, it's going beautiful. Everything is in line. Just let me handle this."

"If you need somebody to watch your back, I got you. Always."

"How do you know that?" I asked in suspicion.

I felt my phone in my back pocket beginning to vibrate as if I was receiving a phone call and I had to make my way to the locker-room.

"Look, I love you. I gotta go. I'll holler at you, hit me up." I said to Jey, walking away.

I made my way to my locker-room to call up Ashley and I could hear Jey shouting at me from across the arena.

"Let's get a steak after the show then?" He paused. "No? Alright!"

Making my way into the locker-room, I pulled out my phone and saw it was from Ashley. I missed a call from her and called her back.

"Hey, where were you?"

"I got distracted by Jey and I finally got back to my locker-room babe. What's up?"

"Are you coming home tomorrow?"

"Yes, I am."

"Great! Because you and our son need to spend some quality time together."

"I already had that planned out, Ashley."

"Just making sure because he misses you every time you're out of the house and wrestling."

"I'll make up for it, I promise. Is he awake?"

"No, he's asleep in his crib for awhile. It gives me some time to finally relax."

"Good. I'll be back tomorrow some time in the afternoon."

Hours passed and I was finally back inside of my hotel room here in Orlando. I was exhausted and couldn't wait to head back home to Pensacola in the morning to finally reunite with my beautiful wife and son. I also had plans to take my son out to the park and to spend quality time with me before I had to head back to work soon.
