Chapter 16

"𝗦𝗼 𝗪𝗘'𝗥𝗘 supposed to study this brand new subject that we know nothing about for the exam in a month ?" Adam asked, slightly distressed while looking at the papers.

"Yeah, that exactly how this works." I rolled my eyes.

Me and my siblings were sitting on the kitchen table. Each one of us had a pile of papers that had the summary of our curriculum about farming and industry. Me and Adam were studying farming, while Rajwan and Luna were studying industry. It was a subject that we weren't aware of. It just appeared suddenly on my school's Facebook profile, and I realized that I had to study it.

Occasionally, one of the cast would pass by and say hi. Which wasn't a distraction at all.

"Hey, guys." Gabriel greeted, walking in with Ty and Beatrice by his side. I knew they worked together before, but I was glad to see Gabriel communicating with people. It just made me happy for some reason.

I noticed Beatrice's face brightening up as she glanced at Adam. Adam looked up at her, and gave her one of his famous, bright smiles. "Hey."

"Hey." She replied, smiling widely.

Yeah, that was cute. Now focus.

My mind scolded, but its advice was gone with the wind as I smiled at them. Then smiled at Gabriel.

Seriously, now I have to focus.

It wasn't long before they sat next to us, quietly minding their own business. How considerate.

I began to read the page over again, trying to memorize it. To be honest, that wasn't working at all.

.

After a while, someone else walked in the room. I looked up to see my twelve-year-old co-star, Jackson.

He walked towards me, and gave me a worried look. "Can we talk ?" He asked.

"Sure !" I nodded and got up, walking out of the kitchen.

"So what did you want to talk about ?"

He looked around him with worry, making my face change to concern.

"Jackson, what's wrong ?"

"I just..don't want anyone to hear us."

I got it almost instantly, and told him to wear his coat. I wore mine, which wasn't a bomber jacket like his, because I knew it would make me feel overbearingly hot after a while. Even if it was chilly outside.

We stepped out of the mansion, to the front yard. He glanced around him again, then looked back up at me.

"I wouldn't be scared if the cast members heard us, but it's.. I'm afraid of the mirrors."

The thought from earlier came running into my brain.

"Why ?"

"I.." He kept looking around, afraid someone might come out or hear us.

"It's okay, Jackson. No one's going to hear us out here."

He took a deep breath, then looked at the floor.

"I always feel like someone's watching us from there. It always makes me scared."

I bit my lip, trying to think of something reassuring to say.

"Don't worry, Jackson. I always felt that way too, and I thought I was the only one. We'll get through it. But I need you to promise me one thing." I said quietly, trying not to sound too loud. I was also worried about them hearing us.

"What is it ?"

"Don't tell that to anyone, and..try not to talk about it with me in the house. If you want to talk about it, we'll just go outside, like right now." I explained, making him nod eagerly.

"Okay."

He reached up and wrapped his arms around me in a hug. I patted his back reassuringly.

"Don't worry."
