CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT:
EXPERT'S A STRONG WORD

"THIS IS FRUSTRATING. THERE'S NO point." Beth huffed, forcing the pink to disappear from her hands as she shook her hand, running a hand through her hair and pulling her hair from its ponytail. She sat down and grabbed her water bottle, taking a few sips of it before placing it back down and laying down on the mat, placing her hands over her face.

"Beth." Wanda walked over to the girl, looking down at her with a raised eyebrow. Beth looked at her through the crack of her fingers before huffing and allowing her hands to fall. Wanda held out her hands and Beth looked at her for a moment before grabbing Wanda's hands and allowing for the woman to pull her up from the ground.

"Rosalynn claims there's points of our DNA that match, and when she saying that she means with our powers, not out actually DNAโ€•๏ธŽif that makes sense?"

"No, not at all, but continue." Beth waved a hand for her to go on, and Wanda only smiled at this and shook her head before continuing.

"They want to see what points of your gifts are different or similar to mine." Wanda explained. "So far we know that you can show people their best dreams whilst I can show their worst nightmares. It took me a while learn it, but it clicked as soon as I started training like it was natural."

"Natural." Beth scoffed. "Nothing about this is natural. Or normal. More like nuts."

"I know." Wanda nodded. "I know. We just want to rule out all possibilities, and see how far your powers can go."

"Your powers involve energy, Wanda. Mine look like a damn cloud of pink fairy dust." Beth deadpanned. "Maybe if I rub my fingers together Tinkerbell will pop out with a greeting for us." The woman sighed before nodding her head. "Alright, alright. One more round before I find food to eat."

"You're telling me you've been doing this on an empty stomach the whole time?" Wanda looked at her in disbelief, watching as Beth just shrugged her shoulders. Wanda scoffed. "We have time for a break. Come on, let's get you something to eat." She held out her hand and Beth rolled her eyes though there was a smile on her face as she grabbed Wanda's hand and interlaced their hands.

They walked down the corridor's, passing a few agents here and there. They passed Liliya and Steve who seemed to be having a well thought out conversation with one another before glancing towards the duo and offering them a both a smile with Liliya sending Wanda a smirk before turning back to her boyfriend. They made it down to the cafeteria, a few of the Avengers placed here and there. They both grabbed themselves something to eat before sitting down at one of the tables.

"I know that you don't want to do this." Wanda softly sighed as she looked at Beth who took a bite of her food. "I'll make the process go as quick as I can."

Beth shrugged her shoulders. "I don't mind it all that much. Besides, I get to spend time with you so it makes the process a little better." She offered Wanda smile and Wanda couldn't help but smile back at the girl before the both of them continued eating in a peaceful silence. Occasionally they would talk, and it would make Beth laugh, her shoulders relaxing more and more the longer that she stayed their with the woman.

Beth sat there for a moment before finishing her food and then throwing away her trash with Wanda following suit. They walked back down the hallways, going back to the training room and sat there for a few more minutes, trying to allow the food to digest a little more before getting back to work. They practiced and practiced, and the farther they got was Beth being able to throw her powers out and surround an object almost like a shield. She could surround things with her powers, protect them, and throw them if absolutely necessary but that part seemed to take a lot more energy from her than the other two did.

She was surprised at the development, and almost groaned when Steve had come in from where he had been watching the two, claiming that he wanted the girl to practice with them a little every day. But she was almost surprised when she found herself thankful for the task, slowly starting to grow more curious about what exactly it was that she could do. As the two walked back down the hall towards Beth's room, there was a noise. One that shook the building, one that made the two women snap their heads back towards the direction they had come.

"What the hell?" Beth mumbled.

"What is that?" Wanda questioned.

"You're the expert of dreams, right?" Liliya and Rosalynn appeared beside of the couple, looking at the creature as it stalked towards them.

"Expert's a strong word." Beth quickly denied.

"Expert's our only hope right now." Rosalynn responded. "Beth, I need you to go to sleep, and I need you to find a specific dream."

"But I can't do that yetโ€•๏ธŽ"

"Well, here's your first test run." Rosalynn breathed and Beth couldn't help but swallow thickly before nodding her head.

"Who is it?"

"Raelynn Quinn." Liliya answered. "She's normal, except every time she falls asleep, her nightmares become everyone else's reality." Beth looked at Liliya before turning her head back towards the creature, cocking her head slightly as a sigh fell from her lips.

"Well, this should be fun."
