CHAPTER SEVEN:
I FEEL SO HELPLESS
WANDA SAT THERE AT ONE of the many tables that resided in the Avengers facility. She had a warm cup of coffee placed between her hands, though she hadn't taken a sip of it as she continued to stare in front of her. She didn't understand why she was so worried and intrigued by the girl that she had seen in her dreams. Wanda had never been so distracted, not since the passing of her brother had taken place and she had been emotionally distraught for a month straight. The woman hadn't even noticed when the blonde assassin made her way towards Wanda, pulling her hair down from it's ponytail after finishing her training session with Natasha.
Liliya Petrova furrowed her eyebrows when she saw Wanda sitting there, staring off into space with a full cup of coffee in her hands that was starting to grow colder by the second. "Wanda? Is everything alright?" Wanda blinked, startled as she turned her head to look at the woman. She watched as Liliya took a seat on top of the table, her feat placed in the chair as she looked at the Sokovian woman.
"I thought you would be training for another hour." Wanda told the woman, finally taking it upon herself to take a sip of the luke-warm coffee.
Liliya shrugged her shoulders. "I was going to, but Nat wanted to spend time with Willow, so we decided to call it a day for the moment." Liliya watched as a group of agents went by, offering them all a kind smile before she turned her attention back towards Wanda, nudging the girl with her foot slightly. "What's wrong, my love? You seem more distracted than usual."
Wanda just shrugged her shoulders, placing the cup up to her lips and taking another sip only for Liliya to take it from her and sit it on the other side of the table. Wanda looked up at the girl with raised eyebrows whilst the blonde just shrugged. "It was cold anyways. Unless you enjoy cold coffee."
"You never know." Wanda responded, making the English woman smirk. Liliya had always been someone that fascinated Wanda. She had been through so much in her life, and yet she had turned out as such a loving and caring person. She had managed to save herself from the torture that she was put through, bringing a small part of her old self back to life.
Liliya chuckled at the woman's answer. "Seriously. Wants on your mind?"
Wanda let out a soft sigh. "You remember me telling you about the woman I had seen in my dreams?" Liliya gave a small nod of her head, recalling the conversation she and Wanda had held after Wanda had talked to Avery about it. "Well, I think she's in serious danger, Lils. And I can't help but keep going back to the look that she held. She looked so scared. But, almost like she was expecting it to happen."
"Well, I know Avery said she could get one of her friends from school to help. Have you heard anything?" Liliya questioned with a small frown. Wanda shook her head in response. It was clear that the woman was really bothered by the situation at hand, and she didn't know how to handle it.
"I'm positive that HYDRA has gotten to her." Wanda spoke. "And if they have. . . I don't want someone to go through what I was forced to go through. And if there's something that I can do about it. If there's even the slightest possibility that I can get to her before they do something that scars her forever. . ."
"You want to do whatever it is that you can to save her." Liliya filled in, watching as Wanda nodded in response. "I wish there was something that we could do, Wan. But, without any information, and without knowing where the possibility of another base could be at, there isn't anything that we can really do."
"I know." Wanda sighed, placing her head in her hands. "It's frustrating. How am I supposed to live with the fact that I know someone who's about to go through torture? I feel so helpless, Lils."
Liliya placed a hand on the woman's shoulders, frowning deeply. She knew to a certain extent what that felt like. When she was in the Murder House, she had watched and listened to all of those kids be murdered, and to this day that guilty conscious was on her mind, knowing that there could've been a possibility that she could have done something to help them. "I know you do. That feeling sucks." Liliya bit her lip, glancing around before looking back towards Wanda. "I'll do whatever I can to help you. To help this mysterious woman out. Alright?"
Wanda looked up at her. "Really?"
Liliya gave her a small smile and a squeeze on the shoulder. "Of course. As soon as Avery get's back with some new information, we'll get to work. Until then, try and get some rest, love. You look exhausted." Liliya gave her a reassuring squeeze on the shoulder before getting off of the table and walking away, leaving Wanda sitting there with a sprinkle of hope filling her body.
