CH. 4 — shift
' kiss me '

ꨄ third person POV ꨄ
ALEXIS HATES HER JOB WITH A PASSION. Working at the Country Club three times a week for a tiny amount of money is horrific but she's grateful that she actually managed to get the job in such a fucked up society. Due to her. . . impeccable person skills, she's always behind the bar (mostly by herself).
Today is no different.
The club is heaving, rich old people having a drink before their golf trip and young Kooks desperate to escape their nagging parents. Alexis had served every-single-one of them, as seen as the other waitress had called off sick two minutes before her shift.
She watches closely as a new person enters and makes their way over to the bar. Alex plays a game with herself to pass the time; guessing the customer's drinks before they've ordered. Her eyes land on a woman, who appears to be by herself, dressed in a long white floral dress and a pair of black sunglasses resting in her short blonde hair.
Classic martini. A boring drink, yet people always order it when they're alone.
The lady nears and Alexis throws her head back, quickly realising that the women is in fact Rose Cameron. The dark haired waitress tries not to show her disgust, and covers it with a bright smile.
"Alexis," Rose greets with a simple nod.
The girl's jaw clenches at the bitterness in her words, "Hey, Rose. What do you want to drink?"
The lady taps a finger on the bottom of her chin, glancing up at the long menu above Alexis' head, "I'll just have a. . ." She hesitates, humming to herself when she finally decides on one, "a classic martini."
Please?
Alexis nods, reaching down below the bar for a martini glass while still keeping her eyes on Rose, "Let me guess, put it under the name Cameron?"
The blonde women doesn't even attempt a smile and just mutters a yes before sitting awkwardly in the bar stool, watching as Alexis prepares her drink.
Bitch.
Usually, Alex would go as slow as possible just to piss Rose off, but she didn't want risk getting fired. Instead, she roughly places the full glass down on the marble bar, smiling sarcastically over at Rose while sliding the drink across the counter. Some of the liquid spills over the rim and onto the lady's hand, causing her to grimace and rise out of her seat.
"Have a good day, Rose," Alexis waves her off smugly as she marches outside.
The young girl sits back in her own stool, that she'd managed to sneak behind the bar, before swirling around to face the door again, watching carefully as more people wander in. Alexis almost jumps up and runs away when she spots a group of three teenage boys shove each other through the doorway, laughing loudly and annoying the relaxing elders around them.
"Alex, how lovely to see you here." Topper Thornton greets, leaning down on the marble bar.
"Hey, Top." She smiles gently.
Surprisingly, Alexis likes Topper. He's kind and a fresh of breath air compared to his best friends.
Rafe moves beside him, smirking over at Alex before glancing between his friend smugly, "Boys, I haven't told you yet, have I?"
Motherfucker.
"Told us what?" Kelce screws his face in confusion, "It can't be anything good."
"Oh!" Rafe whistles, "You're gonna love it," He turns back to the girl behind the bar, motioning between them both, "We're together."
Alexis' jaw clenches at his words and refrains from rolling her eyes. Every part of her is regretting ever agreeing to the whole 'fake relationship' thing.
Topper let's out a loud series of laughs, throwing his head back and smacking his palm against the bar, "You're— you're kidding."
Alex sighs, glaring at Rafe for a second before speaking, "No, he's right. We're dating."
"Since when?" Kelce questions, "You guys hate each other. Rafe, just three days ago you ranting to us in the gym about how she's so fucking annoying and you want to kill her."
Alexis smirks, reaching across the bar and tapping the Cameron boy's shoulder in a tease, "You think I'm annoying?" She pouts jokingly.
His jaw sets, "Alexis, come over here please." He walks outside, motioning for the dark haired girl to follow.
"Ooo, you've pissed him off." Topper calls as she saunters out from behind the counter and begins to make her way over to him.
She stands in front of him, hands on hips and head slightly tilted, "You drag me away for a reason or just so I can't do my job?"
"You're making it fucking obvious," He snarls, "You actually have to act like you like me, Hutchinson."
She raises an eyebrow, "But Kelce literally said you called me annoying and that you wanted to kill me. First of all, that's extremely worrying and you might wanna get a therapist. Second, you said that to him, if anything it's your fault that this whole relationship isn't realistic."
Almost as if he didn't even listen to a single word she said, his eyes wander over her head and to his two best friends who are watching with amused faces. He averts his gaze back to the girl below him and the next words to leave his lips nearly send her into cardiac arrest, "Kiss me."
Her eyes widen and she lets out a low laugh, "Are you on crack? How much did you snort before you came here? No. I'm not kissing you for literally no reason," She shakes her head firmly, "Fuck no."
"Hutchinson, we can't be dating and not kiss." He snarls, stepping slightly closer, "Just fucking do it."
"What do I get for doing this whole thing anyway?" She furrows her eyebrows, "I want to piss Aspen off, but that's not near enough to make me kiss you."
He rolls his eyes, glancing at the sky for a moment in annoyance, "Do you feel the need to always be so fucking difficult?"
"Do you feel the need to put 'fucking' before every adjective?" She counters, pursing her lips.
"You know what an adjective is?" He gasps, smirking, "Well done. Now, fucking kiss me."
She refrains from smacking him for undermining her intelligence and instead continues to press on about the real issue at hand, "What do I get?"
"What do— what do you get?" He hisses before running a hand over his face, "Drugs, Hutchinson. I'll buy you a shit ton of drugs. How ever many you want."
"How ever many I want?" She raises an eyebrow.
"How ever many you want." He nods, stepping ever closer and taking her cheeks in his hands.
She flinches out of disgust at the contact and takes a deep breath before allowing him to pull their faces closer together. Before Alexis even has time to comprehend how she's kissing the Rafe Cameron, the loud cheering from the bar behind them distracts her from their connected lips and she internally groans at the embarrassment.
He pulls away slightly, hands still cupping her cheeks and he furrows his eyebrows, "You embarrassed, Hutchinson?"
"More than you can ever imagine." She snaps quietly, gently pushing him away before she turns on her heel to return to the bar.
Her eyes meet the Cameron son's two best friends, both of them sat in the bar stools with their hands cupping their mouths while they cheer. Disturbing the whole country club in the process. Alexis gets near enough to smack Topper over the back of the head, scowling at him before sliding around to the opposite side the bar, readjusting her black apron.
"That was saucy. Real saucy, Rafe." Kelce teases, punching the boy's chest jokingly, "Never thought I'd see it."
"But now I have, I want to see it again." Topper smirks.
Alex's face screws up and she glares across the counter at him, "Perverted fuck."
"She's right," Rafe spits, flicking his best friend's forehead, "You're fucking gross, Top."
The boy rolls his eyes, swirling around in the stool to face the dark haired girl again. He taps his fingers on the marble bar, smirking, "Alex. . . how about you come to the golf course with us today?"
Alexis stares at him in disbelief and disgust. before her eyes flick to Rafe's shocked expression for a second, "Uh. . . I'll pass."
"No, no," Rafe butts in, nodding enthusiastically while fighting back a smirk, "I agree with Topper, for once. You should come, it'd be fun."
Alex rolls her jaw in annoyance, "I'm sure it would be, but, I don't golf and I'm still working my shift until eight tonight."
"You don't seem to be doing much." Kelce motions around at her stillness and the absence of customers.
Alexis let's out a long sigh, dipping her head in annoyance, "That doesn't mean I can just ditch work and leave the bar with no workers behind it. How are people expected to get their expensive drinks if there isn't a broke girl doing it from them?" She tilts her head, a slight tint of sarcasm in her tone, "I get that none of you work because you use your parent's money, but I actually have to do stuff to live. So, go have fun just the three of you." She sets her jaw before continuing, "I'm sure I'll be able to join some other, boring, day."
The three boys opposite her stay silent for a moment before Rafe grumbles incoherent words, digging his hands into his pocket before directing his friends to follow him out of the Country Club.
Alexis' eyebrows furrow, "You three just come in here to talk to me or did you want a drink?"
Topper smacks Rafe and Kelce's arms, bringing them to a stop in the door before dragging them back towards the bar. He sighs, pulling himself back into the bar stool, "Sorry about that. Rafe doenst like rejection." He teases, earning a harsh smack from his best friend.
"Oh, I know," Alexis mutters, before straightening up, "Now, what do you three want to drink?"

The three Kook boys stayed in the Country Club until the end of Alexis shift. Not once did they go to the golf course. They drank and drank what seemed liked gallons of alcohol to Alex. The whole time, she was sober making the experience even less enjoyable. At eight, a new waitress turns up but the best friends refused any drinks from her and they scurry after Alexis while she starts to walk home.
"Alexis," Rafe calls from across the parking lot, "You want a ride home?"
She turns on her heel, noticing the disappearance of his two best friends. She screws her face up in confusion, "They're gone, Cameron. You don't have to act like we're together now."
"I'm offering kindly," He snaps as he starts to walk over to her, "As a kind person."
She snorts, shaking her head in disbelief, "It's unhealthy to act like someone you aren't." She swirls around again, continuing her stroll.
His jaw sets and he clenched his fists by his side in frustration while he unlocks his car. Before sitting inside, his cups his mouth with his lips, "Fuck you, Hutchinson!"
