Chapter Five

After Amethyst had taken care of the Dark Lord, she escaped with the renegade group. She was reluctant to abandon Crosshair to the clutches of the Empire, fearing his potential misuse in their hands, but she found herself with no alternative. Remaining would mean facing a figurative bullet to the head, a fate that even dragons are impervious to, but the threat it posed was no less dire.

"Are you well?" inquired Hunter, once they were safely aboard the ship. Amethyst sat slightly apart from the others, holding her head in her hands. She gazed up at the leader of the renegade group before offering a reassuring smile. "Yes, I am perfectly fine," she replied, reclining leisurely in her tight black attire that clung to every contour of her body. She had changed her clothing since the encounter with Hunter and his companions in the forest, when she had been masquerading as the leader of Saw Gerrera's forces.

And she had grown increasingly more beautiful.

Hunter swallowed nervously and averted his deep brown eyes as Amethyst observed the effect she was having on him, a smirk playing on her lips, her teeth gleaming. "Do you have something on your mind, Captain?" she inquired, recalling how Rex had enjoyed being called that, despite his denials when questioned by his comrades, who teased him relentlessly. Amethyst was adept at reading people through their scents and heart rates, and she could discern that Hunter was showing all the signs of a man stirred by desire.

It nearly elicited laughter from Amethyst.

"Yes, just fine. We will be arriving soon at Ord Mantell," he states before exiting the room, leaving Amethyst to her own contemplations.

It was a relief to disembark from the ship upon their arrival at Ord Mantell. Amethyst extended her iridescent wings gracefully over her body, revealing the subtle iridescence cascading down her form and two glistening drops of ruby. The motley group of clones observed her, some with flushed expressions and others with expressions of awe, including Omega with a wide, open smile. The larger female embraced Amethyst, her wings gently enveloping the young girl, drawing her close to her tender embrace. "Come along, then," she said, casting a glance at Echo who took the lead despite his flushed cheeks, leading the group towards a dimly lit tavern.

Amethyst wrinkled her nose at the aroma of alcohol and various drinks that permeated the air. There were no discernible patrons present in the tavern, only a peculiar couple engaged in some sort of animated discussion.

The draconess' gaze swept across the dimly lit tavern before settling on a green-skinned barmaid, who turned to face her with a bored and irritated expression. "Are you going to linger there like a gathering of parakeets, or will you be purchasing something?" she inquired gruffly. Amethyst tilted her head slightly, then reached for her golden necklace, tugging it free and handing it to the lizard-like alien. "You will provide us with information. Do you happen to be acquainted with an individual named Cid?" she inquired. The green-skinned alien blinked, responding, "I may know a thing or two, but it will require more than a mere trinket, my dear."

Amethyst snorted derisively and then extended her talon, from which a small blue flame began to flicker. "What if I were to not meticulously peel away your scales while you remain alive, or perhaps refrain from reducing your quaint little tavern to ashes, Cid?" she intoned. Cid swallowed nervously before taking a step back. "You are not a Jedi," she stuttered, her eyes betraying a hint of fear. "They never—"

"Never threatened?" Amethyst chuckled, wisps of smoke curling from her twin nostrils. "Oh, believe me, they most certainly did."

Omega chuckled and found comfort in the dragoness' wings and soft yet resilient scales. Hunter gestured towards them, beckoning their attention. "Have you found something?" Amethyst inquired. Hunter nodded solemnly. "Threatening them won't always yield results, Amethyst. You're well aware of that," he remarked. The dragoness simply shook her head, turning to Tech. "Do you have any information?" The intelligent clone nodded, revealing that they wouldn't extract the necessary information from Cid until they reached a planet and located a child named Muchi. "Thank you," Amethyst expressed before striding out of the room, with Omega following closely behind and the rest of the Bad Batch soon trailing after.

Amethyst had never experienced such intense anger before. Well, she had, but not to this extent. The child they were seeking turned out to be no child at all, but a ferocious rancor—though young, it possessed a formidable strength unlike anything she had witnessed. It roared and tore through the soldiers, or rather, the slavers. Amethyst despised slavers with every fiber of her being. How could any being wish to enslave another, especially those akin to themselves?

So she didn't hold back as she tore from her humanoid form, shedding the constraints of her corporeal vessel to ascend to great heights as a majestic purple dragon, radiating a luminous white aura. Her gaze met that of the Zygerrian slavers, causing them all to cower, even their leader, who, though somewhat more defiant, was still visibly shaken by her presence.

"Bastards like you shall be vanquished," she snarled before unleashing a fiery explosion from her gaping maw. White-hot flames engulfed the slaves, their agonized screams piercing the air, even the dragon—the pet of the slave leader—met a similar fate.

Amethyst turned to her companions, who regarded her with a mix of horror and awe.

She then shifted her attention to the rancor, which emitted soft cooing sounds. With a gentle gesture and a whispered command of "go," the rancor obediently fled. However, the hunter awoke from his slumber and warned, "Fool! That creature is ferocious!"

Exhaling in resignation, Amethyst used her tail to immobilize the raging and frightened rancor. "I am sorry, my dear," she murmured softly. Without further ado, she extended her head, sinking her sharp teeth into the creature's tough skin at the nape of its neck, lifting it with precision before gracefully retreating to the Havoc Marauder.

Upon their return, Cid awaited to deliver their reward. "You have performed admirably, though more tasks await you in the near future," she remarked, prompting a nod of acquiescence from Amethyst as she departed alongside Hunter.

"You did not adhere to my instructions today, did you?" Hunter grumbled, his hand resting on Amethyst's shoulder.

Meeting his gaze steadily, she replied, "Are you attempting to impart a lesson to me, Hunter?" His grin elicited a genuine laugh from her—a rare occurrence for him and his cohorts.

With a dismissive wave, she rose and stated, "Do not entertain thoughts of tomorrow's venture; I have no desire to partake." With that, she gracefully withdrew into her chambers, leaving behind a disconcerted Hunter and a group of intrigued clones.
