𝟎𝟏𝟒, real life supergirl
𝐅𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐍, real life supergirl
𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐎𝐅 𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒 𝐇𝐄 𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐎 𝐒𝐄𝐄, Sam never once thought that he'd see Raven Reyes in a pod made of scrap metal, dried blood sticking to the side of her head. He would always say that she was a real life Supergirl, because as much as they competed with each other, he couldn't help but say she was amazing at everything she did.
He's sure she's still amazing — he doesn't think a lot could've changed in the time he spent in the Skybox and down on Earth.
He watches her blink a few times, and he assumes she's regaining her senses. He's sure that seeing two teenagers stare at her in amazement after literally flying a pod down to Earth all by herself is a lot — he isn't questioning the delay in her response.
"Hi" She breathes out. "Wait — Sam? I made it?".
Clarke and him nod, watching a smile grow on the girl's face. He backs away from the pod, letting the girl step out and take in her surroundings. He feels excited — there's finally someone on Earth with him that he's willing to work with besides Makayla and Monty, and not to mention how Raven's probably the smartest person he knows.
As he turns away from the pod, he sees Quinn finally reach them, staring in awe at the fact that there's someone alive, living and breathing, stepping out of the pod. "The Ark sent someone down?".
He shrugs. He's not sure if the Ark did do that or not — given the council's track record of being absolute shitheads, he doesn't think the pod was sent down based off of a decision the council made. No, he thinks someone rebelled against the council and purposely came down to the ground, and there's only one person who it could've been.
Then he remembers that there should be a radio in the pod, giving them the opportunity to contact the Ark for help. He turns to go back to the pod, wanting to make some sort of contact with anyone who might be trying to listen for them, but sees Raven spinning in her spot, laughing as she takes in the sight around her. He can't help but watch and feel a smile forming on his face, because he hasn't seen someone this happy in a while. Everything's been slowly crawling towards being absolute shit, new challenges being thrown at them almost every day.
The amazement on Raven's face is the type of amazement he recalls Makayla having — fully experiencing Earth for the first time truly rocks people's worlds, but Sam assumes that's just not how his works. He'd rather be in space — he doesn't know why Raven would come down to Earth, but he can't turn back time and tell her not to.
"I dreamed it would smell like this!" She exclaims, extending her hands out as she spins. Sam almost wants to let out a laugh — he never imagined Raven being so amazed at something he's so uninterested in. They've always shared so many interests, but always a distinctness that made them different. Earth is cool and all, and breathing real oxygen is nice, but he would much rather be in zero-g. "Is this rain?".
He sees Clarke nod as Raven continues to spin around, pure amazement splashed on her face. He can't help but stare, watching the girl he's constantly been competing with throughout his life take in something that has fascinated so many people around him — even if he doesn't understand why people can be so entranced, so hypnotized by the ground.
"Raven!".
He turns his head, seeing Finn appear out of the trees, rushing towards the group around the pod with immense purpose. He watches as Raven runs towards him with an even quicker speed than the Collins boy is. The two crash into each other, embracing the other like it's the first time they've seen each other in literal years — and then they kiss.
Sam wants to slap himself in the face for forgetting the fact that the two have been dating, and for a while at that. He turns away, almost feeling like he's intruding, and catches a glimpse of the way Clarke's expression drops, her skin almost paling as she watches the scene in front of her. He can't quite place it at first — he doesn't know why she would react like this, it's just the two reuniting, right?
And when he sees Quinn glancing over, a slight look of concern forming on her face, he realizes why the blonde is reacting this way. He's sure his face has dropped too — the pieces sticking together in his mind as he realizes why she'd have a reaction like this, why her face would drop in such a way. Something must've happened between the girl and the Collins boy, he can't place what, but he's sure Clarke is feeling at least a little bit of jealousy coursing through her veins.
He lets out a quiet sigh.
He glances back over at the reuniting couple, then to Clarke once more, before making his way to the pod. He's sure a radio would've come down in the pod — Raven's too smart to forget to put one in there — and if he can get access to it, it'll probably distract Clarke from wallowing in a puddle of self-pity.
He pushes the doorway of the pod upwards so he can properly look for the radio. He knows exactly what it would look like — he's dealt with so many on the Ark that the picture of a radio is imprinted in his mind. A lot of the things in the pod look similar, but he'd be able to recognize a radio from the Ark from a mile away.
He starts rummaging through the pod, not finding a radio anywhere. He thinks he's going crazy — Raven wouldn't have forgotten a radio, and she would've secured it tightly. Communication with the Ark is the one thing they need most, and a radio would be a priority. He scans over the entirety of the pod, hoping he finds it stuck between something. Maybe it fell under the seat — maybe it's stuck under something that fell during the pod's descent.
"Are you looking for the radio?" He hears Quinn question, and he nods his head. He can feel Quinn's presence to his side — he tries to move over to give her more room to look, the brunette joining in on his search for the piece of machinery, but neither of the two can find anything that even remotely resembles a radio. He tries to take into consideration that it could've gotten damaged during the descent, or even during landing, but his gut is telling him that the radio just isn't there.
"Hey, Raven?" He calls, awaiting a response from the girl. He's itching to know where the radio is — where it could've gone in all this time, where it's hiding away from them. He moves away from the opening, keeping a hand on the pod's broken-down door as he stares back at the girl, seeing her already racing for the pod, concerned look on her face. "Where's your radio?".
"It's not there?".
The girl is quick to come over to the pod, Sam and Quinn moving out of her way so she can easily access the piece of machinery. Sam can just barely see her face as she rummages through the pod, but he can see her expression change to one of frustration as she scans over everything that she brought with her. "It must've gotten loose during reentry. I should've strapped it to the A-strut. Stupid!".
He doesn't think that. In all his years that he's known Raven, he's never seen her as someone who would make such a simple mistake. She's Raven fucking Reyes — she doesn't make simple mistakes. That's something he had to compete with while he was still on the Ark — the lack of mistakes she made whenever she did anything.
So why would she make such a simple mistake now?
There must've been something else — someone else must've gotten there before they did. They must've taken the radio and discarded it somewhere else, taken it while Raven was unconscious from her injury. It's a sick thing to do, but he wouldn't put it past someone to do that.
But it doesn't make sense for it to have been a Grounder who took the radio. What would a Grounder want with a radio? The Grounders have resources of their own — there's no need to steal a radio from a random girl who comes from space. And, they probably would've killed her before leaving. The Grounders don't want them there, why would they let Raven go unscathed?
Which means someone from the camp got there first.
"No, no, this is my fault. Someone got here before us. We have to find him" Clarke says, voicing Sam's thoughts. He hopes it's not someone who will put up a fight for the radio, and maybe they just were being somewhat selfish. But knowing his luck, and the rest of the camps' — that's not possible.
—————————————————————————————
𝐀𝐒 𝐌𝐔𝐂𝐇 𝐀𝐒 𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐍𝐍 𝐇𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐑𝐊, and most of the people on it, she knows damn well that they need to communicate with the people up there, or they're going to die. It's not her opinion, or any other bullshit like that, it's just a simple fact.
And with the information she's been given by Raven as they all race through the woods, she can't help but feel for those stuck on the Ark right now. She knows that the council is going to prioritize those who reside on Alpha station, not giving any thought to those who live anywhere else. It upsets her, because those are working people. Those are people who matter, people who aren't assholes.
She wants to help the innocent. She knows that the Ark doesn't care enough about the working class to give them the choice, the option, to sacrifice their lives for the good of the rest of the people there.
That's why she's running with Finn, Clarke, Sam, and the new girl — Raven — to try and find Bellamy, who apparently was the one who stole the radio. She trusts Clarke's hunch, because who else would've taken the radio? Who else would want to doom them all?
She thinks that Raven's cool. She seems like she'll be nice to have at camp, someone nice to be around. But that's not the priority right now.
She sees Clarke run ahead of them, Finn following suit. She can see the silhouette of Bellamy Blake appear, and she's already pissed off. She's still upset with him for being an absolute dick to her while they were searching for Charlotte, because he could've been a little more respectful. Especially since Makayla was a hostage! She had every right to be concerned!
"HEY!" Clarke yells, getting the man's attention. The girl is furious — her fury being able to be picked up from a mile away. It radiates off of her, anyone being able to tell that she's mad. "Where is it?".
"Hey, princess, you taking a walk in the woods?" Bellamy says back, his words filled with attitude and smugness. Quinn scoffs as she carefully jogs down the hill, not wanting to face plant as she does so — especially because she would be landing on one of her only friend's best friend.
Clarke doesn't seem to be having it. "They're getting ready to kill three hundred people up there to save oxygen, and I can guarantee you it won't be council members. It'll be working people!" She shoves him, fury radiating off of her. "Your people!".
As she gets closer, she sees Finn finally catch up to them, and the first thing he does is shove the man backwards, asking him where the radio is with a harsh tone. Bellamy responds, trying to tell them that he doesn't know where it is — but it's so obviously pure bullshit that Quinn scoffs. She reaches the small group that's forming, right after Sam does, and she swears she can see the tension radiating off of them in the air.
"Just hand over the radio, it's the one thing that could save countless lives" She hears Sam plead, but Bellamy just stares back at him. She thinks the whole situation is bullshit — why would he even steal the radio in the first place? What does he gain from that?
"Bellamy Blake? They're looking everywhere for you".
Raven appears by her side, Finn's jacket on her back. She stares at the boy, strategy and viciousness flooding her features as she stands. The girl embodies seriousness, not allowing anyone to pull bullshit with her, and she respects that. That's all Quinn has wanted, and she tries her best to not take anyone's bullshit, but sometimes it gets too difficult. In her mind, she would've wanted to be the first to berate Bellamy, because what the hell was he thinking, but something's holding her back.
Bellamy spits out a command, telling the girl to shut up, and Quinn is quick to notice the worry overtaking his features. Why could he be so worried, and why are they looking for him? It's been obvious from the start that he must've done something to get on the dropship, but nobody has chosen to question him. Everyone's chosen to listen to him, listen to every command he spits out like he's just like one of them — a teenage delinquent that got thrown into a dangerous situation.
Maybe they should've questioned him, maybe they should've taken into account that he's obviously older than them all. Maybe they should've realized that he must've done something bad, most likely a crime to get onto the dropship, because why would the council willingly send someone down based off of their choice? That's not what the council does — meaning Bellamy came down with them voluntarily. But what did it cost?
Both Sam and Clarke question why the people on the Ark are searching for the man — they probably haven't put together the pieces of the puzzle yet. He obviously did something terrible — you can see the look on his face. The guilt, the worry that Raven's called him out. It's the face of someone who's not innocent, the face of someone who took the radio for his own selfish reason.
"He shot Chancellor Jaha".
Quinn snorts. Her arms are crossed, and everyone's eyes are on her now. They look at her in confusion, trying to figure out why she reacted in such a way — because the shooting of the Ark's leader isn't something to laugh about. But she finds it ironic, and the pieces come together in her mind. Everything he's done has been for his own benefit, not anyone else's. The damages done to their connections to the Ark, every severed connection, has been to save his own ass. And without realizing it, he's screwed over everyone else in the process.
"It makes sense. Everything he's done makes sense now! He took the radio to save his own ass!" She exclaims, and she sees Clarke come to a realization — the look on her face says so.
The blonde turns to Bellamy. "That's why you took the wristbands. Needed everyone to think we're dead!" She voices, realization flooding her words and face.
"All that 'Whatever the hell we want'? You just care about saving your own skin!" Finn adds, and Bellamy's eyes dart around the group once more. Quinn can only assume that he's realizing that nobody's coming to his aid, there's nobody on his side. He's alone in his battle for 'justification' — if there's even a way he can justify his actions.
Quinn thinks she would normally side with Bellamy. Shooting the Chancellor? That's fine, it's whatever. She couldn't give less of a fuck about him — he's normally the one that causes the most pain for others. But stealing the only way they can communicate with the Ark, ripping their only means of communication with the people that are actually able to come to their aid away from almost one hundred teenagers is something she cannot get behind.
His actions may have been to save his own skin, but he hasn't just doomed the delinquents. He's doomed himself and those on the Ark to death. The irony of the situation makes Quinn want to laugh. He thought he was doing something to benefit himself, and if there weren't hundreds of lives at stake, Quinn would be his biggest cheerleader.
But that's just not what's happening.
Bellamy's quick to move away, and the newest addition to their group — Raven — is the quickest to reach him once more. She watches as the girl throws herself in the middle of Bellamy's path, blocking all means of exit from the man. "Where's my radio?".
She hears Bellamy command for the girl to get out of his way, his voice stern as he tries to flee the looming consequences he's facing. Raven questions once again where the radio is, only for Bellamy to say something about having the regret of not killing her.
Quinn's almost surprised — she didn't think the situation would escalate so fast. Would Bellamy really kill the girl? Did he really think of doing that when he was alone at the pod, given the perfect opportunity to kill an innocent girl? Someone who obviously came down for the good of the people on the Ark — and those who are already stuck on Earth?
And when the man throws Raven against a tree, threatening to kill her, Quinn wants to jump into action.
"Bellamy, stop!" She commands, only to see the man not drop his hands off the collar of the girl's jacket. There's a knife pointed at his throat, and she can only assume that Raven was easily able to get the upper hand in that situation because of Bellamy's emotion-driven attack. Raven questions once more where her radio is, and Quinn's convinced that she's not going to let up until she gets a proper answer.
Only once Clarke intervenes does Bellamy drop the girl, letting her go. "Jaha deserved to die. You all know that" She hears him say as he walks away, as if saying that is supposed to justify his actions. She's not even thinking about the fact that the Chancellor could be dead, she's thinking more about how he stole the fucking radio just to save his own skin.
"You can't run away from repercussions forever though!" Sam calls to the man, bringing his attention back on the group. She can almost feel Sam's itch to want to access the piece of machinery — given the fact that he really only seemed to want to find the pod for the means of communication it was supposed to hold. She doesn't blame him though, she wants to be able to contact safety too.
"Jaha's not my favorite person either, but he's not dead" Raven explains, and she darts her head so quickly to the side that she can see the color draining from Bellamy's face before it's gone. Now he's obviously really fucked, because why would the Chancellor, the man he shot, let him off easy?
"What?".
"You're a lousy shot" Raven adds, a smirk plastered on her face. Quinn turns her head to see her expression, wanting to laugh at how much the girl dislikes Bellamy. She wouldn't be the first one, though.
She sees Clarke walk up to him out of the corner of her eye, and the girl looks ready to reinstate peace in their emotions, or at least try to dial down the tension spread across the group. "Bellamy, don't you see what this means? You're not a murderer. You always did what you had to do to protect your sister. That's who you are. And you can do it again by protecting three hundred of your people. Where's the radio?".
There's a moment of hesitation, and everyone's intrigued by what his answer will be. Quinn thinks he'll just brush off the question, pretend he didn't hear anything, and try to change the subject to something else.
"It's too late" She hears him say, and she almost rolls her eyes.
Sam is the first one to question his words, and that confirms her beliefs that he's adamant on accessing the machine as soon as possible. There's nobody in the world that could deny the fact that he's itching to find the radio, wanting to contact the Ark as soon as possible for help.
"It's in the river".
