The following morning, Olivia awoke when her uncle shook her awake. The sun was shining through the curtains, immediately putting Olivia in a good mood. Waking up in the morning with sun just made it easier to start your day.
It was her second day at Mystic Falls high school and it was already better than the first one, seeing as she already had a first friend.
She completed her morning routine pretty quick. At first she fed her two free roam bunnies, Lola and Alfie. Than she got dressed, choosing a jeans skirt and a red tank top before putting on her make up.
"What are you looking at?" Olivia asked her uncle, entering the kitchen of their apartment.
"Jobs." Her uncle muttered as an answered, circling another article in the newspaper.
She had always wondered why her uncle had moved with them. He had the best job ever and it paid well. But she just thought that it was because he didn't want to be to far away from his family.
She, however had no idea that he had moved with them so he could help his older brother with vampire hunting. They had both decided that Olivia was too young to get involved in vampire business.
"Found anything, yet?" She asked, sticking some bread into the toaster.
"Nope."
She was sure her uncle would find something. "Can we stop by the Grill before school?"
"Sure."
"Thanks."
It's something she also did in New Orleans before moving here. Get a milkshake before school started. The day never went wrong when she got her daily basis of milkshake. It had become an addiction.
But the two Saltzman men didn't care. They rather had her drinking too many milkshakes than doing any kind of drugs.
βοΈβοΈβοΈ
When she was walking to her locker at school, iPod's plugged in her ear with music on full volume, milkshake in her hand and her bag pulled over on her shoulder, Olivia noticed someone waiting for her by her locker.
"Hey, Olivia." Stefan said. From the moment his mate had entered the hallway where they were both standing in right now, he had smelled her scent and immediately put a smile on his face, long forgotten about the new vampire in town which they didn't know the identity off.
"Please just call me Liv, Stefan." She said, smiling at him, taking out her iPod's and opened her locker. She didn't like people calling her full name. It reminded her too much off her mother, who had chosen her name.
"Only if you call me Stef."
"Deal." She said with a little laugh, putting her iPods in her bag and with the books she would need the first three periods of today.
While the two were talking they didn't notice Caroline and Matt also walking a bit ahead of them. Caroline however, had noticed them almost immediately. She dragged Matt with her on their way over there.
"Hey Stefan." Caroline greeted before turning to Olivia. "I'm Caroline. And you are?"
"Olivia." The blonde smiled back at her. Both the boys were confused. Matt had never in all his years with being friends with Caroline seen her this excited to meet someone. Well that was until now.
"What class do you two have?" Caroline asked.
"English." Olivia answered, looking at her schedule.
"Great. Me too." Caroline replied, wrapping her arm through Olivia's and walking away with the brunette who left a confused Stefan behind with a frown, a bit sad that he couldn't talk to his mate longer than a few minutes.
βοΈβοΈβοΈ
At lunch time, Caroline dragged Olivia with her again. This time to a table in the middle of the cafeteria at school and to two girls and a boy. The boy's arm laid over the shoulders of one of the brunettes Olivia noticed as she sat down.
"Elena, Bonnie, Ben. I would like to meet Olivia Saltzman." Caroline introduced Olivia, cheerfully as they both sat down, making the three others look up from someone's phone. "Olivia meet Elena Gilbert, Bonnie Bennett and Benjamin Fell."
"Hi." Olivia smiled before turning to Elena. "You're Jeremy's sister, right?"
Elena nodded. "Yeah, how do you know him?"
"I met him yesterday in my dad's classroom. He's a nice kid."
Elena gave her a smile. Jeremy was indeed a nice kid. She just hoped he would stay away from drugs and all the other stuff fast. She just wanted it to be like before there parents death again, but she knew that would never be possible again.
"So why did you move here?" Bonnie asked, curious as she also glanced at Caroline who was leaning her head on her hand, almost admiring the new girl but as far as she knew, Caroline liked Matt, who came walking towards their table together with Tyler.
"Dad's work."
"Aren't you the girl who was walking with Stefan Salvatore the whole entire day yesterday?"Β A boy asked. "I'm Tyler, by the way."
"Olivia. And I suppose I was." Olivia answered. She almost had walked around with Stefan the whole day and even spoke to him at the Grill last night and she hadn't seen any other girl with him.
"Speaking of the devil." Benjamin said as he noticed Stefan entering the cafeteria and looking around, looking as if he was looking for someone, which he was when he saw his mate sitting in almost the middle of the room.
"Oh, hi Stef!" Olivia said, cheerfully as he set down next to her.
"Hey Liv." Stefan smiled at her.
"Nicknames?" Bonnie asked, Elena in a whisper, luckily not heard by Olivia, who was now busy talking to Caroline and Stefan.
"It's cute. She seems nice and he needs someone who is good for him." Elena said. It would be good if Stefan had someone who cared a much about him as he did for them. Because Elena wasn't sure that he had many people like that. Well, certainly not his brother.
βοΈβοΈβοΈ
"I'm gonna look somewhere else, okay?" Liv asked her dad and uncle as they were walking around the school. The second day at Mystic Falls high and they already had a career fair to attend but Caroline had told her during lunch time this town had at least one event every week however they were fun to attend.
"That's okay, sweetheart." Her father said. He had also spotted Jenna a while back but he didn't want to leave in case his daughter needed him.
They were now more in theΒ economy jobs selection and Olivia didn't really care for that. She went straight to the more social jobs, like acting andΒ journalistic, where around the corner English was. That was also still an option.
And of course, Stefan was there.
"How is it that I always see you everywhere?" Olivia asked with a little laugh.Β
"Luck." The Salvatore answered, smiling. Ever since his mate was around he had been smiling way more and it had only been 24 hours since he met her.
"So what do you wanna become once were finished here?" Olivia asked him as they started walking.
"I wanted to be a doctor."
"Wanted?"
"Not anymore."
"Why not?"
"Lost interest, I guess." He lied. Of course, he couldn't tell her that his plan would fail ever since he became a vampire and the fear of not being able to control himself and becoming a ripper again. He wanted to keep her from the truth as long as possible cause he knew from the moment that he would tell her, she'd never look at him the same way again, right?
"That's too bad. You would've make one hell of a sexy doctor. But it's important to do what you want to do. Maybe you'll find something here."
"Probably."Β
They both entered a classroom to see Elena and Benjamin in a fight. Not a fight fight, more like a discussion. But Elena didn't seem to happy about it and she really looked like she needed some saving.
"Hey guys." Olivia said as they joined them and she could swear she saw Elena take a breath of relief. "Seem anything interesting?"
"Not really."
"Hide me." A woman said as she walked over and OliviaΒ immediately recognised her as the woman her dad was chatting with all of last night.
"What's going on?" Elena asked.
"The 'Scum' Fell has landed. No offence to you of course, Ben." Jenna said as she quickly turned to Ben, who just shrugged.
"Logan's here?" Elena asked her aunt with annoyance. Couldn't Logan stay gone for once and stop hurting her aunt?
"Wait, Logan Fell?" Stefan asked the older woman in surprise.
Jenna nodded and Stefan immediately walked out of the room, spotting Logan.Β
"Where's he going?" Olivia asked Elena, who shook her head, letting the younger girl know that she didn't know either. They all followed him but they were already to late. Logan had noticed Stefan and waved at him. From the moment he saw the other he walked over to them.
"Jenna, are you dodging me?"
"It's a form of self-preservation." The woman replied, glaring at her ex.Β
"Um, Elena, why don't you take Jenna and Olivia somewhere else?" Benjamin asked, as he caught with what was happening and why his cousin was standing here. He looked at his girlfriend, significantly.
Elena grabbed Jenna and Olivia's hands and she let them both away from the three men. "When Logan cam to the house, what did he say?" She asked her aunt as soon as they were far enough away from them.
"Fake flattery. Stupid, dimpled grin. Puppy dog eyes." Jenna replied with a roll of her eyes as she thought back about last night when Logan had tried to get inside their house.
"I'm serious, Jenna.Β How did he act? What did he say?" Elena asked more pushy.
"He was the usual Logan. He was charming, a little more manic than usual. He kept trying to convince me to let him in." At the last part Olivia saw Elena look up. " What?"
"Okay, listen to me very carefully. Do not, under any circumstances, talk to him again. I'm serious, Jenna, like ever!" Elena warned her aunt, looking very worried for some reason.Β
Maybe Logan is like a crazy psychopath? Olivia asked herself.
Her dad entered the room, without her uncle and walked over to them once he spotted them. "Hey sweetheart, Elena, Jenna." He greeted them all.Β
"Hi daddy." Olivia replied while Elena spoke a quick. "Hey, Mr. Saltzman."
Her father turned to Jenna. "Yeah, I was hoping to see you tonight."
"Career night is the new bowling." Jenna replied as her father let out a laugh.
"Excuse me." Elena said, excusing herself as she walked away in a quick speed as if she went looking for someone. Probably Benjamin Olivia thought.
"Yeah I'm also gonna go." Olivia said walking away almost as quick as Elena had done. The girl had seen Caroline walking away from a woman in a police costume that looked like her so that was very likely Caroline's mother.
"Hey, are you okay?" Olivia asked the blonde, seeing the upset look on her face.
"Nothing don't worry." Caroline said, not wanting to bother Olivia with what her mom had just said. Or more like what she had meant.Β
"Okay." Olivia said, dropping the subject. Of course she wanted to know what was going on with the blonde but she knew how annoying it could be when people kept pushing until you told them what's wrong. Which usually almost ends in a breakdown. "Where's Bonnie?"
"I don't know." Caroline said, looking around for her friend. "Can we go outside to look?" She asked as she didn't find any sight of Bonnie.
"Yeah, no problem."
A few minutes later there was still no sign of the Bennett anywhere so Caroline decided to leave a message for her. They waited but Bonnie didn't reply in a text or a call to let Caroline know anything. Suddenly a car stopped in front of them.
"Hey, damsel in distress, need a ride?" Logan's head popped out from the window."Oh my God. Logan Fell, channel 9, is that you?" Caroline spoke sarcastically before faking a gasp.
"I used to baby sit you, Caroline Forbes. Don't mock me." Logan replied, with a fake smile plastered on his face.
"Well, I was supposed to go home with Bonnie, but we can't find her.
"It's not a problem, really. It's on my way. And -" Logan looked towards Olivia as with a question look. "Your friend can join us if she wants."
Caroline nodded as she walked around the car to get to the backseat. And Olivia desperately wanted to get her and Caroline out of here, especially after witnessing Elena warn Jenna about him but she also stepped inside the car, not wanting to leave her friend alone with a possible psycho.
"You know this is fate." Caroline said as she closed the door after she sat down, missing how Matt had seen her and Olivia step into the car with a worried expression.
"And why is that?" Logan asked, again with a smile.
"Because I'm interested in broadcast journalism. So can I ask you a couple questions?" Caroline asked, practically begging him to tell her everything she knew so she could prove her mom wrong. This one time she could show her mother that she really could do anything if she tried.
"Anything you want. But first, buckle up." He told her and he looked back at theΒ rear-view mirror, silently telling Olivia to do the same.Β
When Caroline reached around to get to her seatbelt, Logan grabbed her hair and slammed her head against the window. A trail of blood smeared on the glass as Caroline sat unconscious in Logan's car.
And before Olivia could even try to take out her phone to call her dad, her uncle, Stefan or literally anyone, Logan sat up in his car, turned around and did the same to her and the last thing she saw before passing out was a smirk on the ex-news reporter's face.
βοΈβοΈβοΈ
"Have you seen Logan Fell, the news guy?" Elena asked Matt as she and her boyfriend and Stefan passed him in the hallway, looking for the new vampire. Who was clearly not joking around on wanting to know how to become a vampire who could walk in the daylight.
Stefan was also searching for Olivia. In a way she was even in more danger than anyone who knew of vampires since she didn't know about them yet but he also wanted to keep that from her as long as possible. He saw how it turned out when Elena found out Ben was a vampire.
"Yeah. He just gave Caroline and Olivia a ride home." Matt said before walking away again, leaving the three to share worried glaces. Stefan immediately made his way to the exit of the school, ready to kill Logan for hurting his mate, while Ben told Elena to stay at the school before following the Salvatore.
βοΈβοΈβοΈ
Sheriff Liz Forbes was driving in her car as she kept trying to get Logan to answer his phone which eventually he did and she immediately picked up. "Where are you?" She asked.
"Your daughter has expressed an interest in journalism. I think it's important to foster young minds." Logan responded.
Liz head shot up at once, feeling worried for her daughter. "What do you want?"
"The satisfaction of turning your daughter and her little friend into vampires." Logan said before stopping at an intersection. Suddenly his car door opened in a fraction of a second and an angry Stefan pulled him out of theΒ vehicle and threw him on the middle of the road.
Logan stood up, thinking he would have a chance against Stefan but Damon had stopped walking next to his brother, firing the gun, shooting Logan just like Logan had done with him several hours ago.
Logan fell back down on the pavement.
"Payback's a bitch, isn't it?" Damon asked the newbie vampire as he watched him struggle from the pain on the ground.Β "Get them out of here." Damon said to his brother and Benjamin Fell, who were already busy taking the two girls out of the car. Stefan his mate and Benjamin his friend.
And seeing the state of Olivia, who's head was painted in her own blood made the vampire even more angry at the new reporter.
"Logan, what happened? Logan?" Liz Forbes's voice came from Logan's phone which was still in the car. Worried that something had happened to the girls. Or rather that he had done something to them.
Damon ran over to the car, picked up Logan's phone and spoke through it. "Sheriff, yeah, it's Damon."
"Where's Caroline? And the other girl?"
"They're okay. I'm on Elm Street. My brother and Benjamin are taking them home."
βοΈβοΈβοΈ
Stefan had been walking with Olivia in his arms when she finally woke up. They were barely a few minutes away from school as she did so.
"Stefan?" Her voice asked, signalling him that his mate was awake but her voice wasΒ hoarse from being knocked out and from the panic.
"Liv." Stefan said, not putting her down but looking down at her with much worry in his eyes.
"What happened?" She asked. She remembered getting in the car with Logan and Caroline. Him knocking Caroline out and then her but what had happened after that?
"Logan knocked you out and me, Damon and Ben found you and Caroline."
"Where's Caroline?" She asked worriedly about her friend.
"Ben's taking her home." Stefan said. He had wanted to take Olivia home too but her phone had been ringing now stop for the past two minutes and it was no doubt that that was her dad or uncle.Β
And he knew he couldn't enter her house anyway when she was asleep because he would've to be invited in, which he wasn't and he thought she would probably asleep for the entire way.
"Were almost at school." He said as her phone rang again.
Olivia winced at the loud sound but took her phone out of her jacket anyway, seeing that her dad was calling her.
"Olivia?" Her father's worried voice came out from the other side of the phone. And she was sure that her uncle was also trying to reach her because she hear his voice saying that he couldn't reach her but less louder than her father. "She picked up, Alex. Where are you, sweetheart?"
"Almost at school." Olivia replied as she saw that Stefan had entered the school's parking lot, just now realizing that she was still in his arms and it made her blush a bit.
"What do you mean almost? Livy where are you?"
"Almost right in front of you?" Olivia answered as she saw her father and uncle a bit ahead of them and they seemed to be going through it.
Her father hung up as he saw Stefan carrying Olivia and Olivia realizing that her father had seen it, asked Stefan to set her down fast but when he let her stand up, she quickly hold on to him to make sure she wouldn't fall as everything seemed to be spinning all of the sudden.
"What the hell happened?" Alaric asked as he looked at the state of his daughter.
"Logan knocked her and Caroline out." Stefan answered, watching as the two men made sure that Olivia was okay, which she wasn't of course. "Luckily my brother found her and he dealt with Logan while me and Ben brought Olivia and Caroline back."
"Thank you, -"
"Stefan Salvatore." Stefan answered, shaking Alex's hand as he introduced himself to hisΒ future uncle-in-law.
"Come on, let's get you home." Alex said as he let his niece lean on him so she could try and walk as straight to the car as possible. Olivia gave Stefan a little wave of goodbye, not hearing her dad tell her uncle that Alexander should take her home and take care of that wound while her dad stayed behind to do something. But her uncle had an idea what that 'something' was.
I added some sentences by 'casting' if anyone's interested. You know like things the characters says at one point in the book. I don't know if this is explained well but we've gotta do with it <3
